Palace Skateboards might be best known for its affiliation to the sport of (you guessed it) skateboarding, it's got its ultra-hip fingers in plenty of other pies. Since it was founded in 2009 the London-based brand's weekly drops have catered almost everyone, whether you’re into motorsports, high-end catwalk fashion or sinking pints.
Case in point, founder Lev Tanju and his team have previously partnered with German giant Mercedes-AMG, in 2020 it tapped Moschino, and for fans of Elton John, the brand even dropped a collection designed in collaboration with signer – whilst beer fans got giddy over its 2021 Stella Artois partnership.
The Palace design team has left the halfpipes of the Southbank Skate Space once again, taking a trip down to the creek with Adidas. For their latest outing the duo have created a collection inspired almost entirely by the great outdoors. The new drop has been presented through a short documentary which features renowned 74-year old British fisherman, photographer and angler Chris Yates, alongside Palace skater Heitor Da Silva. Shot by Will Robson-Scott, the film follows the pair as they get down and dirty in the British countryside.
The collection, which drops today, comprises garb that would have you geared up for a three day summer jaunt around the The Trossachs of Scotland or the banks of the Wye. Moss-hued, fleece jumpers adorned with Adidas' Trefoil logo, Palace Triferg and “nature” written in a cursive font sit alongside lightweight, pocket-heavy stone jackets, which feature the aforementioned collaborative branding, as well as Adidas' “End Plastic Waste” symbol on the cuffs. There's a nylon cap, which comes with protective, bug-repelling netting at the rear, a split-compartment backpack that will hold all your adventuring gear and nylon, ankle-cuffed slacks, which will keep ticks at legs length.
Unfortunately - and we reckon Adidas and Palace have missed a real trick here - as with previous collaborations between the two brands, there's no footwear up for grabs. Did we fancy ourselves a pair of hiking-ready, Palace-branded, Adidas Terrex sneakers? We most definitely did.
