Compute has transformative potential for society. It is essential for scientific research and driving new discoveries. It powers AI tools for the future and acts as a catalyst for growth and innovation.

The Future of Compute Review explores the UK’s compute needs over the next decade and provides recommendations to spur growth and secure the UK’s status as a science and technology superpower.

The review’s vision seeks to unlock the potential of compute for the UK, placing it as a global actor with a competitive compute ecosystem. This requires a holistic package of action, including a strategic vision and national coordination, to provide:

  • long-term direction
  • investment in world-class sustainable compute capabilities (including immediate investment in the pathway to exascale and increased capacity) to power our world-leading AI ecosystem
  • support to the compute community through skills development and international partnerships
