really liked it
I really enjoyed this, much more than I originally thought I would. I only read it because BotM lets you get one of the finalists for year's best for free, and I'd either read or was not interested in the others, so I grabbed this one.
What this book most reminded me of is the movie O Brother, Where Art Thou? - but I don't want to set incorrect expectations, it is quite different and much less fantastical. This book does something similar to that

In some respects, I completely see why this has stood the test of time and is now regarded as a classic of the genre.
