My first book of the year is a translation of the Icelandic novel Kalmann. I absolutely loved this story and it’s main character. Kalmann Odinnsson lives in a remote village in northern Iceland. He spends his days hunting the elusive Greenland shark and watching reruns of American TV. Due to a cognitive disability Kalmann has always been a bit of a loner.
