Red Dress Ink Fans discussion

So this time, I thought I'd do something a little different. It's a little more work for you and a little less for me.

I've been super busy lately and haven't had a chance to even start on new ideas for the next challenge. And I don't think I'll have time to come up with a whole new one between now and the next few days when I usually post the new challenge. I apologize. :(

But this could be just as fun/interesting as the others. What I want everyone to do is go back through the old quarterly challenges and choose the tasks you didn't complete. (If there was a task that required more than one book and you read some but didn't complete, you can use it.)

All points will be the same as they were in past challneges. Make sure you have ten 5 point tasks, ten 10 point tasks, four 15 point tasks and four 25 point tasks to equal 310 points and 44 books.

Note: You DO NOT have to use the same book you previously assigned to the task the first time you put it down.

I will try to post my list in the next couple of days...by the end of the week at the latest to give you an example.

Also, do not keep the previous task numbers, otherwise you may end up with three tasks numbered 5.4. Just assign new numbers accordingly please - that'll make it much easier for me to keep track of points.

And - if you don't have enough unfinished tasks for to complete any point category, you may then reuse tasks that you've already finished.

As always, the rules are posted below and I've tried to think of everything that you may have a question about, but if not, please don't hesitate to ask. I hope everyone is ok with this challenge. :)

YOU MUST POST YOUR TASK LIST!
1. The challenge runs from April 1 – June 30, 2012
2. Anyone may join in at any time, and count any books read between April 1 and June 30. All participants must post their book list in this thread.
3. Books do not have to be specifically from Red Dress Ink.
4. You may only complete each task ONCE. Likewise, books may only count for ONE task.
5. To post points: Post the point value and number of the task you completed, as well as the book you read for the task. It also helps (me) to post your total points as well.
6. For multiple-book tasks: Books do not need to be read back-to-back, or in any specific order, but you must have read ALL the books for a task in order to be awarded points for it (no "half points").
7. Audiobooks and e-books are acceptable to use for challenges, as long as they are the complete and unabridged versions.
8. Books started before April 1 may count for any task in the challenge, as long as you are no more than halfway through the book as of April 1.
9. You may change the books on your list at any time however; changing books for tasks already completed is NOT permitted.
10. Re-reads of books are okay, unless the task specifically says otherwise.
11. The first person to complete every task in the challenge is the winner. If no one completes every task in the challenge, then the people with the top 3 scores will be declared the winners.
12. Prizes for the top 3 finishers:
First Place – A $10 Amazon.com or barnesandnoble.com gift certificate
Second Place – Two credits from either BookMooch or Paperbackswap (your choice)
Third Place – A book from my PBS/BM inventory

I LOVE THIS IDEA!!! I am so excited. There have been so many tasks where I found a really good book that fit it and I wanted to do it... and then never got around to it because I ran out of time or whatever. For example, I am really excited about the red, blue & yellow covers that I was going to use, but I won't have time to read all three books before the current challenge ends. So now I can use it for this challenge. I love this idea so much. I am so excited and now I want to just make my list right now. ;) Forget work! haha. Just kidding.

Thanks! That's true, I've felt the same way about some of the tasks that I wanted to get to and couldn't. It's a chance to redeem myself. ;)

This will be my first challenge, but I'm leaving my job at the end of next week, so I will have some extra time on my hands. Plus, it seems like a great way to work through the stacks and stacks of books that I have around the house! I will just work through the task list from the last challenge since I didn't participate.

Quick question: Would "Another Piece Of My Heart" by Jane Green qualify as the "Lend A Hand" book? You have to have a body part in the title.

I have it on reserve at the library & I'm pretty sure I will get to pick it up before the end of the challenge. I would love to read it as part of the challenge!

A question for the group: Do you guys modify your list if another book comes along that you want to read more? I posted my list at the start of the challenge, but I want to read a book that isn't on my original list that would fit one of my challenge categories. Is it okay to change as you go along?
