Happy New Year! I think I am going to try something a little different this year. Instead of posting a new topic each month for you to post your book buys for that month, just share here the book finds you are proud of making this year. Click on the "add book/author" link and post using the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone way when you do and we'll see how cool of a library we end up with in the "Books mentioned in this topic" listing by the end of the year. Have fun reading and just as much fun collecting fellow bibliophiles!

Picked this up today mostly because I loved the cover. I was glad to get home and see I had bought the first 2 books in the series since I hadn't realized it was 3rd in the series.

Dimitri | 110 comments A good initiative since I aim for more quality than quantity this year:

Liaison 1914 A Narrative of the Great Retreat by Edward Spears Liaison 1914: A Narrative of the Great Retreat by Edward Spears
1930 leatherbound original!

and 22 of my beloved les Tuniques Bleues comics in the original French and hardcover.

Just received a title I ordered used. I knew it was a used library book, what I didn't know until it arrived was it was from a library in ESSEX, ENGLAND! This great read came all the way across the ocean for me. :-)
A Treacherous Curse (Veronica Speedwell, #3) by Deanna Raybourn A Treacherous Curse

Aleka Mor | 4 comments Too many! Quarantine has only legitimatised my book buying. It used to be a harmless quirk in my twenties, but has gotten worse over the years to the point that I have started returning books for a refund as a result of overspend.

Wool ( long time on my Wishlist- I was really curious because of the plot but also because it has proved a well written and successful self published book)
Ferrante! Beautiful writing, but I won't be starting from the first Neapolitan story as it was unavailable. Nevertheless I think her work can be enjoyed as a standalone novels.
Autobio - Alicia Keys - it was either her or Michelle Obama.
The Prison Doctor- non-fiction
Bernadine Evaristo, yes feminist reading.
A bunch of foreign language books.
Non-fiction Spanish and French.
Piketty's Capital
Gladwell's Blink. Don't ask me why I don't work at Lulemon. (not a particularly proud purchase)
Oh! And this seemed really good....

Lára | 175 comments I've been trying to complete the collections I have and while I've mostly failed for one reason or another, I 've been able to get
Lover Revealed
Lover Unbound
Lover Enshrined
I own and have read the first three books and they were ok but I feel like the story improves after 4th book. I still don't own the whole collection but mostly pleased with current situation.

I bought Midnight Tides two years ago (I think) and it's a book five (I guess?) so I've finally got
Gardens of the Moon
Deadhouse Gates
Memories of Ice
House of Chains
Still not the whole collection but ok for now.

In 2016 started collecting Throne of Glass
And bern getting one book of the series per year but I collected the last three this year
Empire of Storms
Tower of Dawn (did not read because it was not about THE main chatacter)
Kingdom of Ash

Still a bit of the year left, so might get some holes filled :)

EDIT: I prefer the previous (monthly) threads :)

Dimitri | 110 comments Looking back on the second half of '20, the most prideful purchases would be my vintage post-war books:

"Meine Kriegserinnerungen an Deutschlands Heldenkampf" - the war memoir of Crown Prince Wilhelm (1922 original)
"Old Soldiers Never Die" by Frank Richards (1933 original)
AND
the memoirs of U.S. Grant (1st ed. 1885) + the memoirs of W.T Sherman (4th ed. 1892 ) in matching green.
