In addition to the general challenge now on the group's homepage to count how many female-authored books you read this year, this is a challenge to keep track of the number of individual women you read as well.


How it works:
Decide how many women you want to read this year, post your intention in this thread. Then go forth and read! Once you've achieved your goal post here, let us know, and tell us who your favourite authors were.

Remember: each author only counts once (so reading the entire HP series would only count for one of your goal).

They don't need to be new to you, or a first read. Diversity of authors within the calendar year is the metric.

You're all doing so much better than me, has been such a slow reading year now that my commute has been cut in half. Updated my post now though and I'm halfway there, so def still an achievable target.

Your goal is absolutely achievable. I see that all but one of your authors is new to you which is great. I hope you are finding some new ones that you enjoy.

Have a few (Kamila Shamsie, Gail Honeyman) I'll be revisiting and more than a few that I definitely won't (Sarah J. Harris, Caroline Wallace, Claire North, Lian Hearn).

Still plenty of time left in 2018 to up the ratio of good books/duds though!

Congratulations! I didn't set a goal, but have been far more intentional this year about balancing my reads by gender and I'm pleased with the outcome. Note to self: avoid Harris, Wallace, North and Hearn. lol

To be fair on the first three, they were all reads for my RL book group and for each of them there was at least one person who really enjoyed/loved them. And Hearn does seem to have a fairly big fanbase from reviews here, so it might just be me!

My challenge for 2018 was to read 55 books this year, 35 of them by female authors. I completed my goal a few days ago by reading 56 books so far, 38 of them by female authors.

I like to review books because it is the only way I can remember what I've read.
