it was amazing
bookshelves: humor, mystery

I loved the first book, Everyone In My Family Has Killed Someone, and am thrilled that the sequel is just as good. Ernest, our narrator, is still inquisitive, funny and a bit goofy. His girlfriend, Juliette, tries to keep him on track, but Ern smells murder in the air and won’t be distracted.

There are so many characters in this book to despise: Henry, the bestselling author who drinks excessively and hits on every female in sight; Wyatt, the controlling and greedy publisher; Wolfgang, who thinks he’s the only true artist in the group; Simone, Ern’s untrustworthy agent; Royce, who’s furious that Henry refused to endorse his book and is competing with Ern to solve the mystery first. There’s even a reprise of Uncle Andy being as ridiculous and obnoxious as he was in the last book.

The action is non-stop and I constantly changed my mind about the identity of the killer with all the plot twists (and no, I didn’t guess the real killer until the very end). I love that this book is as funny as it is when the subject is so gruesome. A great romp through the murder mystery genre that never failed to entertain.
