it was amazing

It took me a while to get around to this (I am so behind on my giant stack of books), but I could not put this one down. I was invested from the beginning, obsessive about the crime like the narrator Bodie. This is an intriguing book about being haunted by the past, reflecting on the past with the fresh eyes of adulthood, the upsides and problems that arise from the citizen detective movement, and the ethics of true crime obsession. The writer briefly alludes to changes in the cultural narrative - the wokeness of young people today, sexual harassment being taken more seriously now than in the past - but these subjects are only really handled at the surface level. Brilliantly written and executed novel.
