You know those comments about how movies and tv shows are being written as if they were tweets? This is exactly that but in book form.

What a weird ass story. Literally no part of it made any sense. The reason why Big Swiss was in “”therapy”” was not compelling enough to actually maintain her there when she clearly hated every single part of it. Instead of the emotional detachment of every character working in favor of the story, it made me also not engage emotionally with the story at all. Why would Big Swiss even be interested in Greta? She’s clearly a no-nonsense, very accomplished woman, and Greta is… pathetic? The sex also sounded really fucking pathetic and just… bad??? Why were they even having sex it sounded awful??? And don’t even get me started on the casual bigotry and the “I’m a gen x white woman” humor that permeated the entire book and made it absolutely insufferable. There was not an ounce of creativity in this and it was fucking painful.

tbh i only finished this so i could be 100% certain it sucked. and it fucking did.

JimZ I usually finish books even if they are looking to be bad, but this one took the cake. I quit after 67 pages. I read her other two books and that's why I picked this one up.

Renee Buckus Agreed! I felt like I was reading a boring diary of someone that I am completely uninterested in knowing. There were so many plot holes and it was (in my opinion) unnecessarily detailed in some parts and not detailed enough in others which created a frustrating and boring story. I have to imagine (unfortunately) that so many of these 4-5 star reviews are either paid for their reviews or they simply didn't finish the book. The ending was horrid.

Tiffany I think you just nailed it for me. I thought I only finished to see if somehow I would have an a ha moment and love it. But it’s the opposite. I needed to make sure it really did suck and it did thank you !

Kendra Bennett I made it to page 98 and I’m just done. The whole book is unstructured and hard to follow, plus the characters lack a certain depth I need to connect emotionally with them. Im not usually a quitter but I dread opening my iPad to read this one.

Chelsea You summed up my thoughts on this! I tried, I really did, but it just wasn’t there. I considered not finishing and pushed through for the same reason

Amy Rosario Absolutely agree. Quit after 32 pages.

Stella S A M E!!

Rita Bookbish I just finished 55% and I hate it. I hate everything about it. And that sex scene. Barf. (Not cos it was gay, but because it was revolting.)

message 9: by Marsha (new)

Marsha Taylor I completely agree! I thought something was going to develop but nothing actually did. It was a hateful, miserable, negative look at people and the review said "humorous". I guess I missed the humor or don't have that sick attitude towards sex. Sexuality is a good thing. This story could have been so much better and the description did NOTHING but lie! Something Greta was good at! And the therapist was worth beans!

Apple Your review summarizes my feelings as well!

Maura This review utterly vindicates my decision to DNF at Page 14. I could sense the entirely of the novel from the onset. Glad to see my intuition was correct
