I’m not totally sure how I feel about this m
I think the whodunnit / forensics / court / crime mystery of it all isn’t the strength here. The strength is more in the way that small seemingly innocuous actions can have a very insidious effect, how fickle memory can be, and how the pain you feel in adolescence is so isolating and uncomfortable that the main-character syndrome of youth completely fucks your perspective of yourself and those around you. Perspective! Bodie’s shifting perspectives on the things that happened when she was young alongside her perspective on Jerome and his internet cancellation were very interesting and I could have read a way more in-depth examination of that situation, although I guess last years’ Vladimir by Julia May Jonas scratches that itch pretty well.
