I am definitely in the minority but I really did not enjoy this book. I found it incredibly boring and excruciating to finish. It was marketed for fans of Mexican Gothic, I was very disappointed by that book but wanted to give this a try. At first, it gave me Crimson Peak vibes which I was into but the story was just not there for me. I love historical fiction and gothic literature but this just wasn’t good. I Also felt the dialogue was not time period accurate, it felt too modern but I could be wrong.
