I had lot of fun. First book of Tales of Ketty Jay offers fun adventure and interesting set of characters. Bunch of misfits and renegades, all of which get their fascinating backstories revealed.

The reason why this book isn't getting higher rating is that most of aspects of it are just "good enough". It had strong Firefly vibe all wraped in interesting steampunk setting but writing falls bit flat. There was no witty banter and fun quotes, in fact there was no dialog or monologue would remember after I finished book. It didn't have great writing style or worldbuilding of Seniln ascends or Railsea (two steampunk-ish books I adore). And while book has some very grim moments in the end everything fold neatly like in Disney movie.

Despite it's flaws it was still a good read. As I said above I had lot of fun with it and I'm continuing with the series in near future.

Child's soul gets trapped in metal suit of armor because of failed experiment by young man who broke the taboo and dabbled with forces he doesn't really understand. Why does that sound familiar.
