This second and final book picks up right where the first book left off. Annie is at her trailer and is in grave trouble. She has retreated after Dylan started putting up walls and she revealed the truth about herself. All the things that kept Dylan up on his mountain top compound must be addressed, including his father and his biker brother. I must stress how much I loved Dylan’s father, Ben and how well their relationship progressed throughout this story.
”So Max was in the area. Dad was here. Rabbit was hanging around. And I couldn’t get Annie to leave.”
Trouble is all around Annie and Dylan. Dylan actually moves into a trailer at the park since Annie won’t leave. Annie is confident in her feelings for Dylan. Dylan however takes some time to realize that he deserves her love. These two get it on all over this story.
”Tell me, she thought. Say it. I know you feel it.”
There’s several reveals made which involved, Max, Joan, Tiffany and the suspense and action aspects are very well done. Dylan and his family’s interactions and development were one of the best parts of the story. Strangely, I was left kind of indifferent about Annie and felt like she became a nympho out of the blue in this second book...she's free.
I’m left wondering if the author will write further stories for the secondary characters whose futures need to be addressed. Two books preferably one for Blake & Tiffany and one for Max & Joan.
Overall, I really loved the suspense and action portions of this book and of course, Ben. This was a good read if you have enjoyed the first book!
”I’m just…fuck. I’m just so glad you answered that damn phone.”

Pamela Sparkman delivers a captivating fantasy story consisting of faes, humans, unseelie, magic, and demons. The heroine’s name is Elin whom has powers and has been living the past few years hidden with her parents. Elin meets Lord Lochlan and the story takes flight as he is the cursed one and they seem to have fantastic chemistry yet he can’t touch another.
”If he could make one wish, he would wish to have one moment in time where he could just touch her.”

There’s also the dark fae who pose a huge threat to our Elin as the story take several twists and turns along the way.
”You never came to save me. So I will make sure no one comes to save you .”

Romance fans have no fear you will swoon at the extents Lochlan will go for his true love. The story is well written having a sweet flare of poetry that guides these characters of this multifaceted world. I’m very interested in reading the next book in this series - oh how I love a tortured hero!

Katy Regnery delivers a modern-day twist for the beloved storybook character of Rip Van Winkle. The story kept this reader on her toes and the writing was very nicely paced and enjoyable. I adored the heroine and found the hero’s point of view and character development sweet!

“I love you. Even after a lifetime together, yours is the face that lights my darkness, the voice that soothes my soul, the one heart on earth that beats in tandem with mine. I could sleep for a million years, and I would still wake up to fall in love—all over again—with you.”

"The fact that no one knows me as well as my ex-husband, who left me for another woman, is both devastating and frightening like I’m not worthy of being known fully."

As a divorcee from a twenty year marriage, that did include a cheating spouse, I was interested to see what Tarryn Fisher’s spin on a heroine who returns to face a similar situation as mine own would be.
"Pearl believes herself to be Woods’ hero. It’s comical really, that she thinks she swooped in and saved him from something bad (me).”
Tarryn’s writing was on par for some of the book, then sadly the story line and writing felt like it starting slipping. There are spoilerly things that occurred that had me rolling my eyes. I think as a whole, the story felt unpolished.
I’m a fan of her books and will always read what she writes; however, this one didn’t flow with the ease of her previous works. There were still things I connected with like the heroine’s feelings about the marriage and returning to work with her ex and his unapologetic fiancée. Thrown into the mix is Satcher, her ex’s best friend. He’s also the majority owner of the blog. Who is also been harboring a big crush on our heroine Wendy/Billie and things do get interesting.
Once Billie and Satcher connected beyond friendship, I was on board. That is until a character named Jules who totally got the shaft in this book enters the story fully. Things were chopping the second half of the story; however, I did reread the whole second portion of the story and feel that I would have been happy with neither of these men being chosen.

Amy Harmon delivers a very well-researched/magical story doused in Irish history and a loop of souls that forever connect. You must read her ‘Author’s Note’ as she cleverly shows a correlation between her own family’s history mixed together with famous patriots of Ireland.
If you are a history buff, or a fan of fantastical love stories, or simply an Amy Harmon fan, then I think you will be as pleased as I was with Anne Gallagher’s story!
"I told you. You told me. Only the wind knows which truly comes first."

Author Ginger Scott takes around round on the basketball court and this time the court is on the mean streets as high school students one a gangbanger and one a driven basketball player fall hard for one another in this new novel.
Tristan Lopez is tied to a gang through birth and his zip code doing things that don’t sit right with him until he meets Riley Rojas who is one hell of a tough heroine. Riley is driven and works hard to make her dreams come true added to that list is befriending Tristan.
"She was there to play basketball, but that's not the same game everyone's there for.”
The story takes some scary twists and turns and the road to love isn’t smooth yet it’s well done and definitely an exciting ride.
"I just don't believe it's all he is."

Folsom takes place in a world where the majority of the male population has become extinct. To populate mankind, 4 "The Age of Woman" Stars
[image]
Folsom takes place in a world where the majority of the male population has become extinct. To populate mankind, society has to rely on The End Men. The End Men are twelve fertile men whose only duty is to impregnate the woman of the region. Folsom Donohue is the oldest of these men and our hero of this tale. He’s been impregnating women through high society without any say so about his own life.
Our heroine is a feisty, hardworking, young girl named Gwen. Gwen is the first to take a real interest in who he is and what his existence is behind the flash, celebrity, and usefulness. The authors do a stellar job of letting a reader feel Folsom’s pain and loss throughout the story. As Gwen becomes more of a voice against all that she believed in, she finds herself in great danger.
The story is well-paced and will leave a reader eager for the next book. The characters were extremely likable and easy to root for. I found the story incorporated just the right amount of politics and rebellion while being a love story. I do think readers will enjoy both authors gifting something different in this dystopian world!
"For the truth to make a difference, it needs to be said by one person at a time, until there’s a noise loud enough to a make difference. "

Pastor Carter is the leader of a cult in which our heroine has been a part of since she’s eight years old. The Gathering of the Sun 4 Stars
[image]
Pastor Carter is the leader of a cult in which our heroine has been a part of since she’s eight years old. The Gathering of the Sun is a bit obesesed with the sun, the state of their souls and some event that is approaching called… The Awakening.
[image] The first thirty or so of the story is a bit redundant as the heroine goes over her daily life with mentally ill mom, Pastor Carter, and the path she works hard to stay on. It isn’t until a military vet named David shows up at the gate accompanied by his very concerned brother Bastian does the story really take off. As Sara starts to question everything she has been forced to accept with community by getting to know Sebastian.
"Why was I protecting him? Because of him, I was losing my way. Because of him I was waking up.”
The panic and excitement kicks in while Bastian and Sara fall for one another as he is desperate to save his brother from falling for all that Pastor Carter promises. The story takes a heartbreaking turn as it ends while leaving me eager to see what is next for these characters in the conclusion.
"I won’t save you. But I’ll help you save yourself.”

Erin Noelle delivered an exciting and interesting read in book one of this duet. I was so anxious to jump into this conclusion to see how things work out for our couple who met by chance or fate. You see they both see dates when they look into another’s eyes. Tavian and Lyra made for two truly likable characters who have a great connection and chemistry. How things play out once their vacations had ended kept me glued to my reader.
The story does hold some drama but unfortunately one of the main reasons I was so anxious to find out the whys or more about the numbers which wasn’t explored as I would have liked. This is a solid conclusion just for lacking the how comes and whys that I crave as a reader.

"Because music is the heart’s greatest librarian. A few notes had the ability to transport me back in time, and to the most painful places.”

This is my favorite Kate Stewart story to date and this book most definitely is making it on my favorite list of 2017. If there has ever been a book that is written seamlessly with a musical soundtrack this is the book. I dare a reader not to check out the songs that accompany the chapters as our amazing heroine navigates her career, her dreams, and her love life.
Stella is a relatable heroine who can’t create her own music but through her words can relay what she feels and hears gifting her a career sharing what she loves with the world (not unlike us book reviewers). While the story is told in present/past scenarios the author stays the majority in the correct timeline as her love life hits highs and lows and hard pounding crescendos.
There are two men who do hold our Stella’s heart and it isn’t until the end of the story do we know who she forever will be with. Both heroes are well done and for the first time in a love triangle story I didn’t have a favorite only the DRIVE for Stella to make sure she remained true to herself (a lesson in life I have learned the hard way this year) and one her friend explained so easily in one quote.
"Living for a man is the quickest way to get lost.”
The writing provides all the essential words to forgive past hurts, move on, and truly live the story. It’s definitely an angsty, captivating, story that will keep your attention as you DRIVE to the end.
"He was my song, my soul, my everything…”

This is a well written book with a couple of very important life lessons. It’s the story of a mother that married a wealthy business 3.75 STARS
[image]
This is a well written book with a couple of very important life lessons. It’s the story of a mother that married a wealthy businessman and left her life of poverty behind her for a fancy suburban fairytale. The fairytale comes to screeching halt when tragedy strikes this family of four.
Nina is a solid heroine and I did connect with her perhaps a bit too much. As this year I have found myself and my two children in a similar situation and though the story is a very positive one perhaps it hit a bit too close to home for me. I found it a bit too realistic without holding any extraordinary possibilities.
It also saddened me that there wasn’t a love interest to be found among the pages for Nina. I’m not usually a fan of stories that doesn’t have a relationship and/or promise of one yet there must have been a reason that this book was sent to my email. You see when I clicked on the link to read the description, the book went directly to my shelf to read. I’m glad that I read the story and will draw from the lessons learned as Nina made a new life for her boys while drawing on her own strength to accomplish happiness for her family.

"You + Me "
Logan Preston is one of Lucy Preston’s six siblings (I just love Lucy & Cam - Please read their book you haven't!). Logan’s the black sheep of the family and has been surpressing traumatic memories with drug use. He’s never been in love, works for the family business, and is very intrigued by his hook-up girl Joy’s friend, Aubrey. Aubrey is the new girl in town running her own business and has one hell of a likable personality.
Aubrey’s been burned badly by love and so her feelings for Logan and the fear of scaring him away keep this relationship on a slow-build totally realistic speed for most of the book.
There is a big reveal that happens later in the book that for me wasn’t needed (though I get how there had to be a reason for the drug use etc.) I was enjoying the couple’s fall into love, Aubrey’s relationship with little Lachlan and the whole Preston clan. Still, what Logan is hiding and trying to conceal does come to light and it’s a dozy of a scenario for him and Aubrey. That’s all a reader will get out of me…
[image]
Overall, this story was a five star beginning, then somewhere in the middle to end of the book it kind of fell off a bit for me. Yet Jay McLean delivers adorable banter, love, and redemption once again.

This novel is written in Tarryn Fisher’s signature style with writing and quotes only she can deliver. Once again we are gifted a heroine with relationship hang ups and in this story she’s been down this road before.
"Most people move through life looking for some elusive soulmate experience. I am trying my hardest to avoid it. Does that make me fucked up or wise? Who knows, who cares?”
Yara’s used to being the creative type’s muse and when David meets bartender Yara, he falls hard and his career takes off.
Yara is what readers would refer to as a runner. She takes off when things go bad and in this book even when things are good.
"What we had was almost too good and I needed to sabotage it before it sabotaged itself.”
The story is more on the romantic side of the author’s style. David and Yara have great chemistry, and I do believe he had a solid understanding of Yara all along. Yara fears and hang ups do keep her running but David made it one hell of a journey back to one another.
"There was no way I could have said anything to make you realize it was me you were looking for your whole life. You had to realize it on your own.”
