Two massive twists at the end of this book, so I can’t complain it wasn’t entertaining but - hey - the last one doesn’t check out for me fully, sense-wise. Honestly - a truly enjoyable and well paced book with some character development, but it fell so flat on the face at the last chapter - it was unbelievable and didn’t work logic wise at all!
I can’t tell more without spoilers, but… just - no.

I loved the set up, the location and mood were wonderful and engrossing, but something felt like lacking and fell short at the end (last 10% of the book).
I feel like the culprit was guessable, which on its own is ok…. But the reveal didn’t seem strong enough and the lack of knowledge from anyone else and the relationship dynamics felt so weird, like not fully well understood and developed.
And what was that bit about the dating app!? Just one sentence like that about something so interesting… is it a hook for the next book!? I’m confused.
Anyhow, I did enjoy reading the book and it was overall an ok experience taking everything into account. But it might be that you can sell me anything cold country wilderness and I’ll buy it :D
Well, technically the wife was not next door… but ok, that’s just me nitpicking.
I finished the book quickly, it kept me company and Yeah, it was fun!

I finished the book quickly, it kept me company and was a fun read.
The book tackled (or more like, touched) topics like domestic abuse, lifelong relationships with trauma, friendships, deceit and appearances.
Due to my own upbringing, it was a little tough…
An average 3 star rating from me (once again, behold my indecisive nature!) - happy to pick up another book from the author soon.
Just a note about books written during the Pandemic - I’m just happy there’s an escape for the author. It truly doesn’t have to mean much for anyone else if that helps!

Truly a fun read, from characters to dual timeline, and it kept me guessing. Honestly, I had so much fun reading it and I wanted to read it all at once, yet didn't want it to end at the same time!
I will defiantly read more titles from this author, who is new to me.
It’s hard to rate such a wonderfully illustrated book so low.

I do not support the overall tie in with self help the author seems to want to drag on and I do not support children being indoctrinated into self help.
I think for a children's books there’s quite a lot happening and I’m not sure the overall message is clear. Even I was confused about giving the bounty back to the pirates? Maybe the school system has simply left me behind.
Anyhow, the illustrations are gorgeous and heartwarming - all the stars of that!
I received this book as an ARC from Netgalley, thank you! ...more
