On December 16, 2000 Mike Williams went duckhunting with his best friend Brian Winchester and although Brian would later deny going Michael would never come home to dispute his claim. After a huge financial windfall from the insurance a second marriage to Brian and lots of gossip Denise would maintain her innocence to what looks like the point of psychosis. She would even find religion and bring it to the incarcerated at the local prison it wouldn’t be until Denise separated from Brian and Brian not taking it well that would lead to their arrest. They always say truth is stranger than fiction and that is never more true than in the case of this story because despite everything that happened in the end what blew me away the most was that Denise and Kathy remained friends. Oh you don’t know who Kathy is well she’s Kathy Winchester the woman Brian left to be with Denise after Mike’s murder and although it would be years later it’s still is a shocking turn of events. There’s a lot more to this gossipey, twisty, small town murder story that had many OMG moments and totally had me gasping out loud. I really enjoyed the authors writing style in the fact that she didn’t overly describe everything in Florida and just painted a picture vividly enough so you know what you’re looking at and made it easy to follow the story. I also enjoyed the quotes at the beginning of each chapter from famous movies the Bible and other books and thought that was a nice touch. I felt so bad for Mike’s mom Sherald and the fact that Denise stopped her from seeing her granddaughter Ansley to me seemed to compound Sherald’s pain and proves even more what a sociopath Denise was.#AtriaBooks, #NetGalley, #MikitaBrotman, #GuiltyCreatures,...more

Either way this is an awesome awesome book I love individual stories from history and they have those and so much more. Although I found the author seem to focus a lot of the book on horses and the military, it wasn’t so much that I didn’t enjoy the book. He also wrote about horses in literature , The international impact they’ve had there’s just a lot in the book and I found it all so totally entertaining.#PenguinGroupDutton, #NetGalley, #TimothyCWinegard, #TheHorse,...more

But mainly it was it Ann Manning and her scandalous actions and frivolous demeanor when it came to consorting with the opposite sex. They murdered the retired Patrick o’Connor for railroad bonds that were the equivalent of around $400,000. In the end they would be hanged for the effort but not before giving Scotland yard a jolly chase around England becoming a newspaper sensation not to mention the trials. I found this to be a good book and Although I had heard of the murder before I had no idea it was who Charles dickens based characters in bleak House on. I find most of his books always has an interesting origin story just didn’t know this one I do think that would make for a great book all the influences that created what would ultimately become classics from an American murder to this murder to work houses in the Victorian era slums he really was an author who made his characters from real life events. If you love True Crime the Victorian era end or Charles dickens you will definitely enjoy reading this crazy story of Ann and Howard Manning and agreed that could cause someone to believe they too can get away with murder. I believe Miss Buckley did a wonderful job telling the story and it definitely is a book I’d totally recommend. #PenAndSwordPress, #NetGalley, #AngelaBuckley, #TheBermondseyMurder,...more
This Feirce People by Alan Pell Crawford talked about a side of the revolutionary war that isn’t much talked about and some people I’ve only heard of This Feirce People by Alan Pell Crawford talked about a side of the revolutionary war that isn’t much talked about and some people I’ve only heard of from the play Hamilton which I have since learned is fraught with inaccuracies. This book is full of first-hand accounts from segments of letters from general Washington himself to the negative points of being a quartermaster even talk about the horrible things the British did to those who weren’t loyalist we learned about brave men like John Lawrence,, Nathaniel Greene of course George Washington and so many more we also hear the opposite about the villains Tarlington and and evil loyalist name Howk we even hear about Napoleons fellow spy and his hanging I’m so sorry I forgot his name but either way this book is a great book we learned about the first time someone brought up freeing the slaves in the continental congress just an FYI it was John Lawrence. I could just go on and on this for such a good book ever since I saw the play Hamilton I wanted to know more about the revolutionary war and this book was my latest effort in doing that and although as I said Hamilton is full of inaccuracies and misleading history it was a great springboard to get me to read this great awesome book. I was surprised to learn Mr. Crawford isn’t a historian but a journalist and so kudos to him he is done a great job covering The southern part of the revolutionary war.#Knoph,#NetGalley, #AlanPellCrawford, #ThisFiercePeople,...more
How The Victorians Live by Shona Parker like most books covering the subject of all those who came before and how they lived I found this one was mainHow The Victorians Live by Shona Parker like most books covering the subject of all those who came before and how they lived I found this one was mainly based on poverty although they did cover how Victorians communicated what they wore and there was even a chapter on Charles dickens and his fathers stay in Detor‘s prison. She also put an information that in my opinion wasn’t true like the fact that boys got an education and if you were a girl then you did it well her exact words if you were a girl forget it but no don’t forget it because mini influential women started girls schools not to mention some parents educated the daughter on how to read and granite not a lot but I think when telling other people you should tell it all in detail and not caused people to think one thing when something else is the truth. I mean the author even discusses The changing styles of riding outfits but couldn’t put in that some girls did get an education. I found a lot of this book was told to you as opposed to engaging you in the story being told and Although I read the whole thing from how they cooked to what they wore to how they communicated ET see it just wasn’t my favorite book on the subject. I’m sure lots of people will love this book I only found it OK.#PenAndSwordPress, #NetGalley, #ShonaParker, #HowTheVictoriansLived,...more

Having said that I thought the author did a great job explaining everything but first you have to get through the 500 questions before hand, I don’t know why he just didn’t put the question and then answer it but instead decided to put all the questions together and then explain all the answers. It is easy to follow along and I was definitely down to read what he had to say being someone who loves God but I must admit the fact that he is worrying about the state of America and condemning homosexuals made me want to DNF the book and although I didn’t and it made me sad that he didn’t not even once mentioned the love of God and his condemnation of the LGBTQ community not only that every negative he gave as Proof of gods words remaining apropos good things like AIDS, gonorrhea, syphilis all things that anyone can catch I mean if only homosexuals got aids I would be like yeah maybe the Bible was onto something but no even children get aids not as much today as in the 80s and 90s but still I digress. He also has a whole chapter on contradictions and I found that chapter quite interesting although throughout the book he points out contradictions and then explains them and every answer he uses the scripture and even tells of other books if you want to read deeper into the subject. I usually do not read books about religion written by other people because they’re no closer to Jesus than I am but I wanted to read the complete Bible answer book and for the most part I am glad I did I loved his explanation on evolution abortion ATC and although I may not agree with him I still found it also interesting. I am not saying that the book is the end-all and be all of Christian advocacy but it is a great place to start. The Bible has been translated many times and when you have many different authors of one story the text is definitely going to change so take it how you will because for everyone there is a path to Jesus Christ you just have to find your own. God is love and love is good and anyone who wants to use Christianity to hate is not a real Christian at all. This was also the subject of her doctoral dissertation and from the other books she has on Goodreads it was obviously a labor of love as well. I want to say I really enjoyed this book from what caused the women to go into prostitution to those wanting to help in those wanting to make the situation worse. I enjoyed reading about the personal stories and firsthand accounts of the women their individual stories and especially the stories of those helping the women get out of that life. This is truly a great book and one she did her due diligence in researching I always feel so lucky as to get to be an early reader for books like this from Penn and sword press history via NetGalley. When Zar Nikolai Alexander and his family were murdered they were all buried together but when the bodies were found two were missing his only son Alexi and one of his daughters either opal or Anastasia but what I didn’t know is there were also two other bodies missing, that of the grand Duke Mikal Alexander in his secretary and Long time friend an English man named Nikolai Johnson. The author is a relative of the family and when he talks about his grandmother Anna’s remembrances of Russia it shows you a whole new landscape besides the communist rigid unforgiving country most Americans have come to know. Instead we are treated to the beautiful landscape the museums the quaint little villages of her childhood and so much more, including her and her mother‘s bravery in there final escape from the country they love. We also get to learn things about the victims and we get to hear from the Murderers and last but not least Mr. Sarendiniki’s and many others long time quest to find the lost bodies. Since the day the victims were murdered people have been trying to make money off of their brutal murders in Mr. Sarendiniki spent almost as much trying to set things right. This is a great book and one I definitely recommend to any history fan it was so good I absolutely loved it and totally totally recommend it. So I was confused as to his big essay on the topic of country music in the beginning of the book. I did find some of his analyzing of the songs sounded more like a fans guessing at her intentions like with the whole color thing and although I’m always interested in what others think of Taylor and do believe Mr. Nichols did her do justice with this great ode to such a brilliant woman A lot of the things in the book I already knew but as I said I am a Swifty and a lot of people will not. This book was so good it felt like real talk from someone who knows a really enjoyed the narration and especially the chapter on how to clean up after your pets. Even though I don’t think that is what the chapter is called. He tackles popular you tube videos that are steering people in the wrong direction and giving them false information and so much more this is really a good book no I am forgetting some stuff I heard in the book but trust me when I say if your aim is to clean safely and productively then you should definitely read this book. He not only tells you what doesn’t work he also explains why it doesn’t work and then told you what does. FrThe Secret Lives Of Numbers by Kate Kitagawa and Tim Revell is a book about the history of the invention of Mathh and different attributes of math. From the first use of absolute zero to the invention of algebra decimals and so so much more if that sounds boring to you it is only because I am doing the book a great injustice this book was so good it talks about the first women in mathematics the first segments of humanity to do math the different people who invented similar techniques as well as the actual numbers we used to count. For example I had no idea algebra and the numerals we use all came from Baghdad I learned about a bone that was dated 20,000 years old that shows measurements by 60s there was even a woman in the ming dynasty who was the Right hand lady for the empress and taught her and the higher up concubines how to do math something women were not taught not only in China but around the world. Not to mention the names you will hear that will be familiar and household names throughout history. This book is not long but long enough to cover almost every class of math there is from astronomy to calculus algebra and on and on so good so interesting I am not a fan of math nor was I great at it but I do love history and couldn’t pass this book up and I’m so glad I didn’t it was so truly interesting. The Hidden History Of The White House, power struggles, scandals an unforgettable moments in American history by Cory Mead this nonfiction book about The Hidden History Of The White House, power struggles, scandals an unforgettable moments in American history by Cory Mead this nonfiction book about the White House and the history comes at you for many different directions theres a chapter on Dolly Johnson one of the first black and the most popular cooks of her day, Booker T. Washington‘s dinner with a young Roosevelt and his family Rose Garfield her service and her life long love and so, so much more from Winston Churchill‘s visit to the White House the day of Pearl Harbor the killing of Osama bin Laden there’s just so many different subjects in this book and I think Cory Mead did a great job not only telling tidbits but expounding on that to tell a full story in each chapter. I really enjoyed this book so much it is definitely a five star read by an experienced author in a great storyteller. Throughout the chapters he even discusses the dilapidation of the White House those who try to make it more homely and attractive and just a lot lot more. I could go on and on until I tell you about the whole book but I will not this is a great read and one I definitely recommend to fans of American history, in most cases useless information. I thought Mr. Goodrick did a fabulous job telling about murderous wives deceitful friends and dangerous strangers no matter what era you read whether it’s the 20s 50s or 80s murder is murder and deceit is deceit. This book is chock-full of victims stories being told whith great detail and an awesome narrator. Some crimes are solved right away in some take years but all are interesting and every victim deserves their story told and as I said True Crime seven did a great job doing that. Although this book is long the chapters are short and can be red when you have a spare moment or in my case while waiting to see my doctor lol! So many different reasons and so many different stories and a lot of them are in this book royal executions and those who were victimized by it. College Girl Missing, The true story of how a young woman went missing in plain sight by John Cohen. When Lauren Spierer went missing from A friend‘s College Girl Missing, The true story of how a young woman went missing in plain sight by John Cohen. When Lauren Spierer went missing from A friend‘s apartment near Indiana University. Despite she was around multiple friends and different acquaintances throughout the night, in the end no one claimed to know what happened to her. She had a long time boyfriend Jesse and she was even seen by his fraternity brothers who tried to intervene to bring her home but due to a violent act, they ran away and leftter with the guy she barely knew. There’s much more to this intriguing True Crime and John Cohen does a great job telling the story. He initially met the parents because he was one of the first reporters on the scene and their first meeting was not so amicable but he is older the case is cold and he feels compelled to get this case solved and this is his very well done effort to that end. There were some questionable things in this book like for one how was her boyfriend a suspect and secondly how could five guys not know what happened to her when their apartment was the last place she was seen? This is a story about the dangers of drinking and drugs with strangers but mostly it was a story about Lauren who is missing and whose family desperately wants to know what happened to her. This was well done with eyewitness accounts conversations with her parents and we even learn about the beginning of Lauren‘s life in her love other athletics. Stories like this make me so sad but it’s so good when someone gets their story told we need more books like this especially books like this about minorities in those in the LGBT community I just want to state Lauren wasn’t neither one of those communities I am just saying we need more stories from those communities.
