Since I haven't the time that I used to have, I will comment only in this first collected edition, and The TV series is WAY better than the comic!
Since I haven't the time that I used to have, I will comment only in this first collected edition, and basically since I want to say that while I am huge fan of the TV series adapted from this material, I was disappointed that in my very personal opinion that the comic book isn't nearly as good as the TV adaptation.
Just to avoid confusion, my comments here will be about the entire saga, not only this first collected volume.
I have read many other similar comics like The Authority, Top10, Astro City,Watchmen , etc... and The Boys appeared at the end, once all those mentioned did their own impact in the comic book industry with originality and good taste, but sadly The Boys isn't that original and the few good things there, the author managed to ruin them (don't worry I won't spoil anything) but in my case, I was sad how wrong the comic book turned at the end...
...not to mention that the road wasn't that inspired, since anybody can write profanities and violence, you don't need many talent for that...
...I was honestly excited to read the comic book, and I was expecting something different than the TV series...
...BUT...
...still something good and enjoyable...
...however that wasn't the case.
I am pretty sure that many people love the comic and that's okay, anybody is entitled to an opinion...
First of all, I have to say that I love the variant cover of this issue! I believe that iHarley at her best!!!
BEST "BLACK LABEL" TITLE SO FAR!
First of all, I have to say that I love the variant cover of this issue! I believe that it's one of the coolest comic book covers ever made in all time!
Also, it's the best Harley Quinn's storyline that I ever read and I do hope that it will keep this kind of excellence in the following issues (crossing fingers!).
This is like Silence of the Lambs meets Harley Quinn, but don't get me wrong, it's not a retelling of that story, but something totally original, but using that kind of grim ambiance.
Dr. Harley Quinn (she's not using her Harleen Quinzel's real name and it seems that she hates it, so she prefers to be called "Harley Quinn") is an expert in criminal psychology and profiler, even giving classes at Gotham University, and she is a top consultant for the GCPD, analyzing gruesome cases involving serial killers.
There is a case that it's about to be treated as a "cold case" involving The Joker, but he has been missing for years.
You'll get an impressive analysis of some of the most notorious serial killers of rea life and why most of them shouldn't be treated as "criminally insane" or psychopaths, without questioning that they're truly serial killers.
I have read all the "Black Label" published material so far, and while all of it has been top notch products, I truly believe that Joker/Harley: Criminal Sanity has the most solid starting point in comparison.
I love this issue, and I can't hardly wait for the next one!
If you're fan of Harley Quinn, you just can't miss this miniseries!

JOKER IS ON THE LOOSE
...if he was the good guy, what does make me?
Jack Napier. the White Knight, exposed the sins and corruption of Gotham City, dragging The Batman in the process, leaving the Dark Knight with doubts about his work done in his beloved city...
...but Jack Napier is no more (at least for the moment) and The Joker is sickened about what good ol' Jack did while using his slim body...
...it's time to pick some stuff from his old cell and getting the hell out of Arkham Asylum...
...a medical institution built in the same ground that in the 1800's, Lafayette Arkham and Edmond Wayne battled over the control of the valley where Gotham City would be eventually risen.
ENTER: AZRAEL
I'm here to reveal your holy destiny... ...the truth behind your name, behind the valley.
Jean Paul Valley is introduced in the Murphyverse!
The Joker has plans, and manipulating the mentally disturbed Jean Paul Valley will be instrumental for the Clown Prince of Crime, not only against Bruce Wayne, but also for trying to erase all the good legacy that Jack Napier did while he "existed".
If you loved Batman: White Knight, you can trust that this sequel is the same as good by the creative talent of Sean Murphy doing the writing AND the drawing.

THE ROAD TO HELL…
What surprised me more about this origin stories for the “Dark Knights of the Dark Multiverse” was that since they were coming from a parallel dimension zone called “Dark Multiverse”, well, I thought that it would be something like in the classic cartoon episode of Superfriends titled “Universe of Evil” were the heroes were twisted evil counterparts, but surprisingly, those so-called “Dark Multiverse Earths” were quite similar to the usual parallel Earths of the regular multiverse, at least in the seven presented Earths where the Dark Batmen risen…
…where the heroes are good, and even the Batman of each of those Earths were good persons too, and even their “improvements” were conceived out to do good on their own each Earths and save them from stuff that they really considered were wrong…
…but as you well know…
…the road to Hell is paved out of good intentions…
…Batman is merged with The Flash, taking control of the Speed Force twisting it, The Red Death is born!
…Batman develops an A.I. assistant based on his murdered Alfred and tricking the help of Cyborg, becomes The Murder Machine!
…Young Bruce Wayne, right in the moment of his parents’ murder, he got a Green Lantern power ring and using his overwhelming willpower, corrupts the program of the power ring, suffocating the light of the power ring, with his vengeful inner darkness, and The Dawnbreaker risen!
…a female counterpart, Bryce Wayne, in her war against Atlantean forces, she twisted her DNA, becoming an Atlantean-like warrior, The Drowned surges!
…Batman battles side-by-side with Wonder Woman against Ares, God of War, but after the Amazon Princess fell, he didn’t hesitate to become the new god of war, The Merciless!
…Batman is resentful against Superman, since the Kryptonian offered a false sense of hope to his Earth, and after the Last Son of Krypton started to destroy everything, Batman need to actívate his twisted protocol, merging with Doomsday’s DNA, turning into The Devastator!
…Batman reacts against the ultimate evil act of the Joker, but the Clown Prince of Crime has the last card on his sleeve, and The Batman Who Laughs is born! And becoming the primary messenger of a bigger threat to recruit the Dark Knights of the Dark Multiverse…
…since their Earths are doomed to perish, so it’s time leave them and…
…to engage a full invasion against Earth-0 in the regular Multiverse!!!...more

PIZZA VS VENOM
Strength is not just a physical force. It comes in many shapes, and it can be mastered in many ways.
I have all the three crossovers of Batman and TMNT, but the previous two, I found out too late about them, so I have to get them in its TPB editions, luckily with this third crossover, I knew on time and I was able to buy it on its single comic book issues. So, that’s why that I am posting its review before of the official publication of the TPB, since I read the story from the single comic book issues.
So, while this one has a “II” (romanized two), since it’s a sequel to the first crossover made by DC and IDW, there is another crossover that it was published as IDW and DC (inversed profit) and that it’s non-related to this “reality”, and using the animated versions of Batman and TMNT.
Following the events of the first crossover, Master Shredder was imprisoned, but instead of being a good thing, the leadership vacuum left by him in the Foot Clan, eased a takeover by the Elite Guard (another ninja clan) that note ven Karai (Shredder’s daughter) was able to impede.
Choosing to play under “the lesser evil” angle, the TMNT decided to back-up Karai attempting to reinstate her as leader of the Foot Clan, however they were overwhelmed for numbers and Donatello got beaten and the other three turtles had to go on his rescue.
Donatello is a genius, no one argue about it, not even himself, but he wished to be as good fighter as he is a scientist, therefore, in a moment of doubt…
…he did something too dumb…
…and opening again the dimensional portal to ask Batman how to be an equally champion in the fields of thinking and fighting…
…however that action provoked that Donatello and…
…BANE!!!…
…interchanged places in dimensions…
…and the unstable lead combined forces of the Foot Clan and the Elite Guard find what they were looking for…
…a new powerful leader, Bane!
Soon enough, New York will become a war zone!
It’s up to Batman and Robin to go with Donatello to the TMNT’s Earth and join forces with the rest of the Cowabunga Team before it’s too late.
However, Donatello will be still in his existential crisis…
…and Bane’s Venom will be something too tempting for so easily dismiss!
I bought this in its single comic book issues, and even I did reviews of each one of those, however I thought Oh, boy, you are in for a show here!
I bought this in its single comic book issues, and even I did reviews of each one of those, however I thought that it was wise to arrange a review of the whole story, using fragment of the previous individual reviews. This TPB collects “Batman: White Knight” #1-8.

THINK ABOUT THE FUTURE!!!
Joker might have been responsible for terrorizing Gotham, but you weren’t necessarily making it better.
Batman: White Knight isn’t only one of the most relevant comic book miniseries to read, specially if you’re fan of Batman, but also I’ve noticed that this is a “passing the torch” moment…
…since in many media projects about Batman, on films, TV and comic books, it was usual, and not all rare, that creative teams were inspired by Batman ‘66 TV series, since almost all of the members of those creative teams grew out in an era, similar to mine, and we as kids, that was the Batman (nevermind campiness) that blew out our minds…
…but sooner or later, new creative teams that grew out in newer eras, it was logical that would “take the torch” to write new stories about Batman, and the next generation is logical that its introduction to the character and his world were Batman ‘89 and Batman: The Animated Series, and while Sean Murphy still keep some elements of Batman ‘66 and even adding newer stuff like The Dark Knight trilogy!
YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS THIS
After all these years, you still have no idea what I’m capable of?
Gotham City has disease and its name is Batman.
Jack Napier is the cure!
Vigilantism has cost too much in lives and infrastructure to the population of Gotham City and Jack is helping to reveal that people hadn’t known the peak of the big picture.
Gordon and Batman aren’t in the same page anymore, if they’d truly be anytime before.
But also Batgirl and Nightwing are considering if remaining to the side of The Dark Knight is truly the best for their own duties to protect Gotham City and its citizens that it’s looking like the new White Knight is the only logical path.
AN INSTANT CLASSIC!!!
…maybe if you two weren’t so stubborn… …you’d realize how similar you’ve become.
There is a war in Gotham City…
…in one side, there is Jack Napier, formerly known as The Joker, reformed, certified sane, and willing to do what’s necessary to make a better, safer Gotham,…
…in the other side, there is The Batman, obsessed, recklessly violent, and too much eager to do what’s necessary to prove that Joker shouldn’t be trusted…
…and in the middle there is the citizens of Gotham, suffering the consequences of this epic conflict. However, hardly, Jack and Batsy are the only ones playing a hand in this dangerous card game…
…Dr. Harleen Quinzel, formerly known as Harley Quinn, smart, resourceful, and willing to do what’s necessary to avoid that those two fellows would kill each other…
…Marian Crews, formerly a second Harley Quinn wannabe, quick-learner, loose-cannon, and willing to do what’s necessary to keep on the havok unleashed on Gotham, and what better joke like doing it using insidious plans by Jack combined with dark cold secrets from Wayne Family?
Batman, Jack, Harleen, Marian…
…who will have the last laugh in this sick game about power over Gotham City?

…and the first to fall too! Corrupted by insidious evil.

LOOKING FOR HIS PLACE IN THE UNIVERSE
What do you know about the Oans?
Very little. They created the Lanterns to bring order to the galaxy?
Those are very interesting words you used… To bring order. Does that sound benevolent to you?
Harold Jordan has been looking for his right place in the universe…
…and he doesn’t think that Earth is that place.
Good thing is that he’s an astronaut, so he has been able to be away from Earth for at least 8 years.
However, he hasn’t go that far anyway.
Since NASA is no more, so the willpower for exploring out of the Sol System is no more either. Now, Earth’s only interest on space is to look for relevant minerals for the construction of cell phones and stuff like it. So, now Ferris Galactic has the contracts for that and they hire different crews competing each other to find first a viable asteroid with the needed elements.
Jordan will find something beyond his wildest dreams about space exploration…
…a power ring.
BUT…
…Green Lantern Corps is no more. The emotionless mechanical Manhunters killed the majority of them, very few are hidden since their rings are a pale shadow of their original power levels, rumors said that it’s because the Main Power Battery was destroyed, and it may be very well the case, since the Manhunters took over Oa (along with dozens of other alien worlds), and there isn’t a single trace of the Guardians of the Universe.
So, in a moment, Harold Jordan thought that humans were alone in the universe…
…and in the next one, he’s barely surviving in the middle of a vast and diverse alien galactic community, suffering by the ruthless ruling of the Manhunters, and while he wasn’t “chosen” but “just find” the power ring…
…it seems that Jordan is the only remaining hope, with enough willpower, for making the Green Lantern Corps live again!...more

WHY A DIFFERENT ARTIST?
The first thing that shocked me, with the second volume of Teen Titans: Earth-One, was the change of artist,...
...don’t get me wrong, I think that Andy McDonald did a great job in this second volume, but...
...usually in the Earth-One projects, the creative teams remained together, since it’s kinda something quite personal since the very conception of the new interpretation of the known characters in the Earth-One label...
...also because Terry & Rachel Dodson were the artists involved in the character design (there were even an action figure line base don their concepts), artwork, inks and colors, and they are top reknown artists in the comic book business…
…my only guess (nothing that I can confirm) is that they didn’t anticípate that the first volume would be so well received and they couldn’t arrange their work schedule to be involved in the second volume, still if so, it could be odd, since the Earth-One volumes come out whenever the creative teams want without pressure by DC Comics.
TITANS V. TITANS: DAWN OF EARTH-ONE
Victor Stone (Cyborg), Tara Markov (Terra), Garfield Logan (Changeling) and Tempest are on the run after their tragic events on the first volume, and what they thought as their “normal” lives are no more, now they’re freaks with powers that they barely know how to control and even worse, they’re hunted by the police and a secret government agency…
…while Starfire and Raven left the group and they went to Raven’s home at New Mexico.
And finally, Slade Wilson and his son are more tight that they even thought possible but without opposite agendas.
However, they’re not the only ones Titans with powers…
…the mysterious Blackfire Project, commanded by the insidious Niles Caulder, has its own strike team of Titans…
…Impulse, Wonder Girl and Kole, whom never were fooled with a “Norman Rockwell” type life, but trained as merciless soldiers since birth…
…but these new three Titans have a dark past that even themselves don’t know about…
…and they aren’t the only Titans that Caulder has…
…an eighth subject is waiting to unleashed havok on the unexperienced runaway Titans.
In a different earth, have the Teen Titans any chance of being truly Together?

…you have to appreciate that the strongest creative inspirations are Batman ‘89 and Batman: TAS, and while they were already mature material, Sean Murphy took that wonderful adaptations to the next step, updating them to current audiences, just like the creative teams of old did it with Batman ‘66…
…keeping what every new creative team, in any media, have done with Batman since its creation, back then in 1939,…
…adapting the Dark Knight and its world to fit in the social mood of each generation.
The Dark Knight keeps falling in good hands to keep rising again!
Long Live the Batman!
EVERYTHING IS ACCORDING TO PLAN
Don’t get mistaken, Sean Murphy has a plan with this outstanding mini-series and if you have any doubt, just read the seventh issue…
…and you’ll happily realize that nothing has been by chance, there is an hidden order in this mayhem unleashed over Gotham City, masterfully planned by Sean Murphy.
The Batman shows that while Jack Napier is The Joker, he is in control of all the rest of the cards in the deck.
However, don’t dismiss so quickly to good ol’ Jack, since his insidious alter ego have a hidden card about a critical part of Batman’s past in his never-ending war on crime, involving a fellow fallen soldier, that I have no doubt that it will provoke a powerful impact in a very possible sequel miniseries in what DC Comics is already refering as “Murphyverse”, proving the instant success of this awesome comic book miniseries.
Gotham City is under attack by Marian Crews who evolved into something more powerful, cunning and resourceful than Jack would ever thought conceivable out of a “Harley Quinn rip-off”, that while she won’t able to cast a shadow, in the past, over the original Harley Quinn aka Dr. Harleen Quinzel…
…it’s clear as ice that she is shading a big darkness over Jack Napier…
…who is losing control of himself due the stress of this unexpected opponent…
…and definitely The Joker wants to get out and play!
Batman, Jack, Harleen, Marian…
…who will have the last laugh in this sick game about power over Gotham City?
