In a world where magic is outlawed and if you’re found to have magic you will be burned by the religious sects, but if you find yourself lucky enough to be taken in with other Nightbirds you will have protection against the religious sects. The Nightbirds will gift individuals with their unique magic with a kiss if you’re willing to pay the cost. They’re always to wear a mask in public and not to let anyone know who they are or else and you really don’t want to know what the “or else” part is.
I found this book to be something fresh, I liked that it was a darker fantasy with some great worldbuilding, the writing to be lyrical and easy to follow, the pace was just perfect for me. The characters were all unique and their powers too. I liked that the Nightbirds were close to each other but still held their own secrets, but the more that you read the book you will find them getting closer and closer to each other and soon you will see how unique these powerful women are, alone and together they can be deadly.
I found that each character had their own flaws but at the same time they each had something more that they brought to the book. I found myself not able to put this book down once I got past chapter 3 because I had to know what was going to happen next, with all the twists and turns and the betrayals and wonders. I liked that each girl has a different past and they each have their own beliefs on why they have these powers and the history of the magic that was granted to them. I liked how throughout the book you will see each of them grow and develop throughout the book, more than others, but you will see the way/the way that they think about the end of all the hate against magic users. I liked that this book does have some romance in it but it’s not the main focus of the book. Instead for me it was more about friendship and kinship with these girls.
I can’t wait to see what these girls learn about their own magic and what they’re capable of alone and together.

This book really is a great contemporary and romantic comedy. It had me laughing, I felt for the characters in the sad parts, and had me rooting for the happy ending.
Libby has a blog, and in it she shows the world a glamorous, healthy lifestyle that is full of love and positivity, but it’s all a lie. She really isn’t an all put together young lady. Her and her friends are struggling to pay bills and make sure that they’re all taken care of and all they have wanted was to be able to make enough money to take care of their families and of course themselves. Her and her roommate/best friend live in a dump and they’re both waitresses that want to live a normal life without having to worry. When they get a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet a real media savvy person who is trying to show her uncle that she can run the family business and make it something more for people now days, they run into a few problems with trying to make sure that Libby appearances as her “Lovelillbet” blogger name.
This book is chaotic but in a good way, you will find great banter and comedy, romance, great characters and strong friendships. I liked the way that this book went, how the author made it about social media and how much we don’t really know is true or not when reading people’s blogs or watching their shows. I loved getting to see how the characters would handle each new day with Hildy and Jefferson coming to stay with them in a fake house. This author knows how to write a book that will draw you in, keep you there and then will let you go with a smile on your face. I liked her writing style, it was easy to follow, and the pace of the book was great. I found myself laughing out loud while reading this book and I found myself able to connect with the characters.
I found Libby to be funny, I loved that she would mix up things and not on purpose but just because it’s hard to remember so many things that were lies and now, she must act like they aren't. I laughed so many times throughout this book because of Libby but not just with her and with Jefferson as well. All the characters in this book really helped to make this a wonderful summer beach book. I can’t really say too much because I am worried, I might let a spoil out here and there, so instead just know that Libby does have some great growth in this book and starts to show the world who she really is, and she gets positive feedback and sees that people like it when bloggers and other people are more natural than fake. Oh, and I can’t forget about the goats!!! I want to hug those cute guys so much and love them all because of the mischief that they cause Libby.

Margaret lives her life with lists, notes and plans just like her oldest sister. She chose this kind of life after her sister Marianne (who is the world’s biggest romantic) got her heart broken and crashed the car with Margaret inside. She used to be just like Marianne but after that day she decided to follow in her bigger sisters’ footsteps Elinor. So, when Elinor and her husband Edward go on a cruise for his work Margaret decides to come along because it’s her last summer with her family before she goes away for college. Little does the whole family know but Marianne is going to be on the ship with them the whole time, and not because she wants to be there for her family but because she is running from a problem that was caused in her relationship. Margaret will do whatever she can to make sure that she is not saddled with Marianne the whole time on the ship and finds men that will work great for Marianne, but while doing so Margaret finds out that her heart she thought once was made from ice, isn’t and she starts to fall for a cruise tech guy. How will the summer end? Will these sisters mend their relationships with each other and with love or will they find more heartache?
I don’t hate Jane Austen Sense and Sensibility but the way this author wrote this book I found myself loving it. I thought the vacation aspect of this book made it come to life and added a lot more complications and issues that these sisters had to work through. I also liked the romance side of this book, it wasn’t just 1 character that had to understand romance more but all of them had a little something to work on in their relationships, whether that be with their spouse or their family or a cute boy that they met on the ship. I found the plot to be something new, and that I just visited some of the places that the author wrote about in this book just earlier this year. I thought the romance side of this book was well done and the author didn’t rush into anything right away but definitely was a slow burn and took an “light bulb moment” to make everything click together. The characters in this book are what really made this a great read.
The characters are well developed, you will fall in love with these sisters and find yourself thinking of them as your friends. I liked that they were each relatable and easy to connect with. Even Gabe, the very attractive cruise tech guy that Margaret literally falls into his lap. I found Margaret to be the perfect middle sister even though she is the youngest of them. She has the best of both of her sisters, and she really doesn’t realize it until about 75% of the book and from there you will be swiped up into a beautiful wrap up of this book. Gabe was a gentleman and never pushed Margaret to understand her feelings but made sure that she understood she was safe with him. I think that is really what helped her to understand her own feelings towards him.
If you want a cute, fast-paced book, with great characters and a good plot for the summer you should read this book. I didn’t read the first two books and I was able to understand everything that was going on, but I will be adding them to my TBR.

This book has everything you want in a fantasy romance, Forbidden love, forced proximity, slow burn, Greek mythology, great plot and characters too.
In this book you will meet a priestess who is about to take her vows but is pulled away to help a king who is desperate to save his son from an unknown illness. Even though Calliste is worried about going back to the city that she escaped from, she knows in her heart that she is supposed to go with King Theron and help him out. She reaches out to the Greek gods and gets their help with trying to figure out what is going on with the King's son and to find a way to save him and everyone else as well. Oh, yeah and she will have to make sure to guard her heart and feelings because she can easily see herself falling for King Theron and she knows the troubles that would cause.
I thought this plot was well developed and I loved that it wasn’t hard to follow. I thought the Greek mythology and the setting of this book helped to bring the characters together. The pace of the book was perfect, gave you enough time to understand the characters but didn’t drag with unnecessary information. I thought the magic system in this book was different for me but felt as though it was supposed to be there and just felt right. The characters are what really bring this book to life though and will make it so readers can finish this book in a day or two.
I really do think the plot is great, but the characters are what really sealed the book for me. I loved Calliste who has had a horrible past, but you see her as a strong character (even when she is having a hard time you will see her still pick herself up and do her job). I loved that she is strongly opinionated, and she wasn’t worried about speaking her mind in front of people, so long as it wasn’t about what made her flee the city. I found Theron to be a brooding tormented soul and I loved it. I think with Calliste you will be able to see more about him and see him open up again (well her and if she can cure his son). I liked that he was protective of Calliste and didn’t push her for information and understood that in time she will give him more and more information about her past. I thought their banter throughout the book was well done and helped to give him a little more in their relationship. Oh, and I know when they finally (if they get too) come together it will be amazing. Their chemistry and the slow burn in this book is chef's kiss. I cannot wait until book two comes out and we get to see more of their story.

I was so lucky that this author remembered me from reviewing her first book Haunted Hearts and asked me to review the 2nd book of this duet series.
This book is a little different from the first one but only because it’s about the other Henson brothers and Sally Barrett, but no worries you will still see the other characters from the first book and you will meet some other great characters as well.
In this book you will find: haunted house, paranormal activity, secret past and a heroine on the run, slow burn, and some steamy scenes. I loved that it also has some great raw emotions. This author's attention to the smallest details really helps you to connect with the characters and makes you feel as though you’re there with them experiencing all the good and bad things going on. I found the plot of this book to be more in depth and just more everything. (I really can’t find the right word for it). I loved the characters in this book Sally and Cain and you will see some great growth from both of the characters throughout the book.
Sally was one of my favorite characters in the first book, I loved that she was so full of love and love, but you could tell that there was more to her than what meets the eye. You will. Find out that she is running from her past, but we all know that you can’t run from your past for too long, it will always come back to meet you and always when you don’t expect it too. Sally is a strong character that has a lot of worry, stress but is still able to dance away the stress and just have fun. She is the sweetest person you would ever meet and she would do anything for anyone and if you were lucky to call her your friend you’re special. I felt as though I was right there with Sally throughout this book, and that is due to the author's way of writing. She makes it easy for the reader to connect with her characters and you will feel as though you’re Sally’s friend throughout the book and for me I was able to feel everything that she was feeling; her fear, the worry, the stress and of course her joy and happiness.
Cain, he is grumpy, quiet, and doesn’t like to show his feelings to anyone. He is also an empath and that makes it hard on him to be around a lot of people. Just like Sally, he has lived a hard life and that makes it hard for him to trust people and to see the good. However, there is something about Sally that just keeps drawing him to her. I liked that he was able to open up to Sally and talk to her, it showed a big step for him. I liked that he didn’t judge Sally for her past, but was there to help her through her dark tunnel that she found herself in. I loved that these two broken characters helped each other heal and find acceptance within themselves and each other.
I want to thank Sara for the opportunity to review this book and for allowing me to be on her team. It was an honor and I can’t wait to see what you will make next....more

This is the second book of The Shadows Between Us. You can read this as a standalone and not feel like you’re missing anything but let me tell you will be missing out on an amazing read.
I loved the first book, and this book did not disappoint at all. I thought Chrysantha was different, but in a good way. Some might say that she comes off as rude and demanding but I don’t see that I see a woman that knows what she wants, she might have had to trick people into believing what wasn’t true to get it but I found that something I could connect/relate too. I loved that no matter what she was her true self when she was alone in her manner. She is a very caring person to her staff, she loves to read, she is smart about money and where to invest. I loved that Levenseller had Chrysantha have a book club with her staff, and they would get together and talk about romance books they read. I thought Eryx was a great male character for Chrysantha and I found their banter to be refreshing and hilarious. I thought there was just the right amount of chemistry between these characters, the slow burn to the “finally” moment was great. Let me tell you about the banter between these characters that will have you laughing.
You will find that the pace of the book is fast and easy to understand, I know I found myself wishing that wasn’t over so fast. I thought the author did a great job with keeping the reader interested throughout the book and that she didn’t linger on certain points in the book.
I did receive the audio of this book and I found the narrator did an amazing job portraying the characters in this book. She was able to keep me on my toes and loved the melting moments that the characters had. I found it easy to close my eyes and imagine what was going on. I highly recommend this audio to anyone who is interested in reading this book.

Wren is not having the time of her life on this London trip she took with her classmates after graduating. So she adventures out to the city for a few but the one place she wanted to get breakfast is closed and now she feels like the world is turning on her. Wren misses her flight home and is now stuck in London, but then she remembers that the Prince did tell her that if she needed anything he would help her, little did she know that would be an adventure of her life and leaves her wanting to change the last few days that she spent with the Prince.
I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was a standalone, but I found out that it wasn’t and was excited to see how the story will end. I found the plot to be cute and just right up my alley. You will find adventure in this book, forced proximity, grand theft auto, injuries and of course hope. I liked that the characters were easy to connect with, and I know that I could relate with Wren. I found their banter to be funny and I was looking forward to seeing what was next on their adventure.
It was fast paced, with a lot wondering what will happen next, and you will be rooting for the both of them to get to the location, but at the same time you will be wishing the book was a little longer. It does end with a cliffhanger, but no worries the second book is already out and I can’t wait to see what is next for these characters. ...more

This was my first Paolo Bacigalupi book, I didn’t know what to expect from it. I just read the synopsis and requested it, and I am happy that I did because this will not be my last book of Bacigalupi.
In this book you will hear the story of Davico, told by him about what happened in his life to bring him where he is today. Now some of you might say that it's not really a fantasy but I can see how it was, but most definitely is more of historical fiction in it. It does start out a little slow and you won’t find any action until you hit the 50% mark in the book, Davico’s Name Day celebration. Then you will see non-stop action, a lot more of the plot coming together and more questions getting answered but you will still have a few that aren’t answered, and the ending will leave you feeling like there will be an open door for more adventures. I thought the author had a beautiful way of writing, you will be able to flow through the book and know/see what is going on. I thought he handled the politics of noble families in the Italian Renaissance era. I found Bacigalupi writing about what went on and the workings to be easy to read and even though the plot was slower at the times it does help to make an understanding of why this is happening to Davico.
The characters in this book were great, they were developed throughout the book. I thought Davico did a lot of growth, sadly due to the circumstances that led him to the life that he must live now. You will see endless bloodshed, murder, rape and a lot of revenge. I would say more but I would spoil parts of the book and I don’t want to do that.
I am really hoping that we will get another book to see more adventures from Davico and to get more answers from him as well.

I love all things that have to do with folklore, mythology, and anything that is just creepy. So when I saw this book I knew that I had to read it. I liked that each Cryptid/Monster had a brief history about the creatures and where they’re located. I liked that the author had sections of different creatures for the different continents. Some of the creatures you will read about you might already know about them and their stories, but I even found some that I didn’t know about and found their history to be interesting.
I liked that each creature had their own fictional stories, and I thought the illustrations were well done and fun to look at. I would read another book written by the author again.

This book had everything that I wanted and more. It has more action, drama, betrayal, action, secrets and of course still a love triangle.
This book takes place right where book one leaves off and it doesn’t slow down. You will be taken on an adventure with characters from the first book and you will meet new characters that become close like the original characters. I thought the pace of the book was steady and will soon pick up that you will be turning those pages so fast just to find out what will happen next. I thought the plot was clear and understandable without any confusing parts in there. I know that if you read the first book you will not be lost in what is happening and why. I found the twists and turns that the author took in the plot to be great, and added a little bit more mystery to the plot and characters. The characters were easy to connect with and understand. I found that in this book their emotions felt more real to me and I was able to relate to Eddie more.
Eddie, she was stronger in this book, still a little indecisive and unsure of things but when you see her set her mind to a plan, even knowing that she might not come out of it, it will show you the growth that she has made. She doesn’t know all the answers but she is willing to see things through and at the end of the book you finally see her do what is right for herself without thinking about Ren or Aaron. She needs to see something through and she will not let anything or anyone get in her way. I do have to say to the author how could you do that to Eddie… I wanted to cry for her and just wrap her up in a huge hug.
Ren and Aaron… I can understand why they each did what they thought was best for Eddie and everyone else that they care about but at the same time shame on you guys. I can’t really say more without giving away spoilers in the book so I will leave it at that.
I can’t wait for the next book, because I do still have answers and I know that I will get them all answered. I just have to wait for them. Hopefully for not too long.

I received Cut Deck and I didn’t know that it was book 2, so I had to read it. I’m so happy that I got Cut Deck, because I would have never known this amazing dystopian, sci-fi, YA book that is packed with a lot of depth. You will explore the life that the American’s are living now and how they’re handling it as individuals and as a group. I liked to see how this author made up this world/plot, I found it to be interesting and something new for me.
This book is 2 POV’s you will alternate between Eddie and Ren’s. I really liked getting to know Ren more in this book and I found his thoughts to be more relatable and I was able to connect with him. Now with that said I did find that Eddie was more interesting to me about halfway through the book. As I said, the world that this author built was interesting and heartbreaking at the same time. This book is definitely more character driven than plot but you will see the plot start to show itself about 2/3 of the way in the book. I know for me that the first part of the book was really slow, but once everything picks up and the action starts to play out more you will not be able to put the book down. I was so invested in what was going to happen next in the book that at times I would have to read a page or two again to make sure that I didn’t miss something. I thought the characters were well developed and you can really see the growth of them by the end of the book. I know for me it was Ren that grew the most, but I am hopeful that in the next book we will see Eddie's growth.

This is a Mulan retelling, and I loved every part of this book. I can’t wait until the next book is out and We get more information and to find out what man Merlin will lean more towards. This review will be really hard for me to write because all I want to say is that I loved, loved this book…. End of story but I know I can’t just say that so I will do my best to not ruin this book with any spoilers.
In a world where women are not supposed to think but just smile and do as they’re told. To have ambitions is unwomanly, to fight is unwomanly, to think outside the box and voice it is unwomanly. However, Merlin is not your normal young adult, she wants more than the life that she was born into. Meilin is forced into an arranged marriage, and after seeing how her future husband treats the servants she decides to run and join the army. She dresses like a man and learns to act like one. She does well because she is already trained qi gong and kung fu, her qi gong is not the best because she only has some control over it but she is always working on it. She learns that she is more like her mother, than her father and herself would have ever thought and now she worries that she might be killed for the spirit powers that are in blood… oh and the fact that she is a woman.
If you’re looking for a great YA fantasy that is a retelling, has elemental magic, romance (love-triangle),secrets, and action this is a book you need to read. I thought the author did a great job with attention to details from the smallest ones to the larger ones. I could feel what the character was feeling and I felt as though I was there with Meilin. I thought the pace of the book was just right for being the first book of a series and I can’t wait to see what will happen next. The world-building was done amazingly and I didn’t see anything lacking. I loved that this author showed the woman stereotypes and that women can do anything that they put their minds to. I love that you will see a strong, not all the time confident, sometimes too trusting when she shouldn’t be, she is proud and patriotic, she is also loyal to her family and friends that she holds dear (even in the darkness). I loved watching her character grow throughout the book and see her still fighting the country and her friends for her freedom and to change how women are seen.
As for the other characters in the book, they were well written and you can see by the ending how they will play their roles in this book and the future ones. For Prince Liu Sky, I liked him right away but something felt off, and later on in the book I finally understood what it was and I was like OMG i like you…but I have been burned liking the first male character in love-triangles so I made sure that I kept him not too close lol. I liked how he wasn’t like his father (the ruler) and that he kept an open mind, even when he found out the truth about things he was upset about and like anyone would be that way. I do wish that we had a little more between Sky and Meilin though, so I hope in book 2 we get to see more. With Cao Ming Lei, look I love the villain who gets the happy ending in books and I loved him right away. I could just tell that there was more to him and the more you get to know him the more you start liking him. I thought he had some really creative ways to help bring this war to an end and at the same time you know he is on the wrong side of Meilin, but you can’t help but like him. I liked that he didn’t have any issues with girls serving in the army. I am team Cao Ming Lei, but I want to give Sky a chance…. Just a little bit.
I didn’t know what I was expecting when I got this book but it was everything that I hoped that it would be and more. I found a connection to the characters right away, I found the world-building to be amazing and just drawn into the whole book. I lost myself while reading it and when the end came I was so sad because now I have to wait forever to see what book two will bring us. This book will be on my top favorite reads this year for sure.

Hellevir has only wanted one thing in life and that is to feel accepted, but when you have the power to bring people and animals back from the dead, it's hard to have people accept you and not fear you. The first time she visited Death she was only 10 years old, she learned that there is a price that must be paid every time that you want to bring someone or something back. When Princess Sullivain is brought to her healer in her small village, she finds out why. Sullivain is dead and has been for a few days, she is able to bring her back but now she is the royal healer, all because you never know when someone might try to kill the only heir to the throne.
I thought this debut novel was well written and the pace of the book was okay. I did find a few spots to drag a little but honestly I think that is because it was giving out information that you will need for the ending of this book. Now I didn’t know that this would be a series when I requested it, but I am happy to know now that there will be more to the story. I liked that you will see a lot of character growth in this book, and it is more character driven than plot driven. I liked that the author handled the topic of religion, politics and mortality in this book, and I thought the reg for LGBTQ+ was handled well, but I really didn’t fill the connect between the two main characters, more so Hellevir brother and his boyfriend. However, that might be because I find Hellevir and Sullivain relationship to be a little more one sided until the ending.
With the characters in the book really helps it shine. At first I was not that happy with Hellevir and that she didn’t really have any backbone when it came to the Royal family, but getting to see her finally grow and stand up for what she wanted was amazing. I liked that she put her foot down even knowing that she would be giving up. You will see her character grow a lot throughout the book, even the little parts but it's not until the end that you will see her fully. Sullivain, she is a character that I would like to get to know more, because of what I know about her already I am on the fence about her character. I do like that we got to see more from the ending. I think once we get the next book more will come out and hopefully explain more about why she is the way that she is. I mean I understand the part about her being royalty, but I want to know why she doesn’t stand up more for herself. With Death I am excited to learn more about this man/creature…I don’t know what to call him but I think we will learn more about him and the reasons he has in the next book.
If you like fantasy, that has interesting topics but is handled well like: religion, politics and much more. You should give this book a chance.

She meets the handsome Ian, the developer that her father has hired to sell the property, Loni and her sisters will stop at nothing to make sure that Ian is scared away and never comes back…. But after a few late night talks with Ian, Loni isn’t sure if she wants to send him away anymore. The only thing she knows is that she will do whatever she can to make sure that the resort is not sold.
This book would make a cute Netflix or Hallmark movie, I know that I would watch it over and over again. I loved that you will see the southern hospitality at its finest, and you will see the “oh bless his heart” in the book as well. The author knows how to write a book that will help the readers by drawing them in and making them feel like they’re part of the book/they know the characters themselves. The plot was just perfect for a romcom, you will find the build of the plot at the start of the book, you will see the oh no moments and then you will watch the characters heal themselves and of course the HEA. The pace is just right, I loved the slow times because we got to know the characters better, but even during the slow pace times it really didn’t feel like it was slowing down because you will just fly through the book.
I found the characters to be easily understood, and easy to connect with. I felt as though I have known them for years just half way through the book. I liked that we really got to understand more about what was the underlying motivations for the sisters with this resort and why it was so important and even after the major moment in the book you will see the sisters still together and showing a unified bond between each other. I found Ian to be a typical “f boy”, but the more that you get to know him and understand the reasons why he is this way you will have a hard time hating him like I did. This book is a closed door romance, but you can feel the chemistry between Loni and Ian right away and just watch it build more and more. I was so happy for both of them.
If you’re looking for a great beach/summer read, one that is filled with romance, laughter, some heartbreaking moments and so much more you will have to pick up this book.
