Ok sooo i love Marissa Meyer I’ve read all her series and loved everyone of them, however, this was my least favorite novel of hers, not to say I didnOk sooo i love Marissa Meyer I’ve read all her series and loved everyone of them, however, this was my least favorite novel of hers, not to say I didn’t enjoy it but it didn’t quite meet my expectations after having read everything else she’s written.
I am not super familiar with the tale of Rumpelstiltskin but I definitely enjoyed this retelling and that she made it into a romance with some ghosts and ghouls mixed in. I loved the story telling aspect and how it tied into the end.
What I didn’t enjoy was the back and forth. It felt like the story never really progressed she never got anywhere or learned anything new until the end. This made it super hard to pick up and therefore put me in a slump.
I wasn’t super attached to the characters but as usual I did love the writing, it was more the plot movement that deterred my enjoyment level.
I am hopeful though that the new book will be better and I am looking forward to picking it up....more
