This is a complex book, so one that you need to read in large chunks rather than small pieces at a time. The good thing being it is impossible to put down! I had spare 15 minutes, but ended up reading for about 2 hours!
I don't naturally enjoy books that are written from different character point of views, by Martin achieves this perfectly, and the narrative jumps create a smooth and easy to follow read. To be honest, I don't think he could have built such an incredible story line without swapping viewpoints throughout the book. He's incredibly talented at jumping from a woman's to a man's perspective and perfectly swaps between the two. He's able to demonstrate a women's thought process as well, so it's relatable to all sexes.
George R.R. Martin's book has something for everyone, I've listed it as Fantasy here but really is has romance, history, drama, war, dragons, witches, erotica and day to day family disputes as well. It takes you on twists and turns like no other book I know, so be warned, when you think you know what's going to happen, it doesn't - something more incredible happens!
I've already bought the rest of the books in the series, and I can't wait to see where Martin's imagination takes me next!...more
