A Fire in the Flesh is the third book in the Flesh and Fire series, a companion series to the popular Blood and Ash books by Jennifer L. Armentrout. BA Fire in the Flesh is the third book in the Flesh and Fire series, a companion series to the popular Blood and Ash books by Jennifer L. Armentrout. Blood and Ash and Flesh and Fire series have intricate and interconnected fantasy worlds, so A Fire in the Flesh is best enjoyed after reading all the previous books.
In this book, Sera and Nyktos are separated, and both have to fight for their lives and each other. Sera is held prisoner at Kolis's court, who believes that Sera is his long-lost love, Sotoria, reborn. Nyktos is also imprisoned and entombed after being injured during a battle with Kolis and his minions. Sera is plotting to trick Kolis into releasing Nyktos, and Nyktos will do anything to keep Sera safe.
I enjoyed A Fire in the Flesh but didn't love it. The first half of the book was a little slow and repetitive. The second half of the book was more fast-paced and action-packed. I found Sera's character frustrating at times. She kept making bad decisions and repeating the same mistakes, speaking or acting before thinking, which would land her in trouble repeatedly. I wanted to see more character growth from her. I did like the progression of Nyktos and Sera's relationship. Their chemistry was off the charts, and the sex scenes between them were hot.
Also, we got more clues related to the Blood and Ash universe and its characters, especially Poppy's. Fans of the Blood and Ash series should not skip this book....more

When I think of vampires, I think edgy and sexy, so the book wasn't exactly what I expected. I liked the book, but I didn't love it. I would recommend My Roommate Is a Vampire to readers who like their romance books playful with no angst.

This book is perfect for fans of Blood and Ash and Crave series. It has great worldbuilding, interesting and compelling characters, and a very sexy romance. It also has an insta-lust trope which is not my favorite; I found the sex scenes to be a little bit "wham, bam, thank you ma'am", especially in the beginning. I prefer more build-up and foreplay in my romance. But I was very much intrigued by Isolde and Adrian's relationship, as well the fantasy world and politics that Scarlett St. Clair created in her book. Overall, I enjoyed King of Battle and Blood and I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series

The third book in the series, The Crown of Gilded BonesI love fantasy romance and the Blood and Ash series is one of my favorite series in the genre. The third book in the series, The Crown of Gilded Bones, did not disappoint! In this book, we get more political intrigue, more action, more romance, and, of course, more sexy times. Poppy continues to master her magical powers and she finally discovers the secrets of her parentage. The last few chapters were mind-blowing. I had a major book hangover once I finished it. I couldn't stop thinking about Poppy and Cas and didn't want to pick up another book. I wish we didn't have to wait months for the next book in the series. I need it now!...more

Crush ended on such a cliffhanger, I couldn't wait to read Covet, and when I finally read it, I was not disappointed. In this book, some shocking secrets are revealed, we learn more about politics and meet new and fascinating characters (with Remy and Calder being my favorite). The love triangle between Grace, Jaxon, and Hudson becomes even more angsty. I think the enjoyment of the book will depend very much on what team you are on, team Jaxon or team Hudson.
This book is 660 pages long and I think it could've been shorter because some parts were a little repetitive. But all the chapters are short, which made reading this tome easy. At the end of the book, there are a couple of chapters from Hudson's POV, which I really liked. Overall, I enjoyed Covet and I cannot wait to read the finale. If you are looking for an entertaining, action-packed YA fantasy with a heavy dose of romance, I highly recommend this series.

I enjoyed the first book very much and was looking forward to reading Crush. I am happy to say that it didn't disappoint. I found the first quarter of the book a little slow, but it got more interesting as soon as Hudson showed up. He was definitely my favorite character.
In Crush, following the events of the first book, Grace and Co' have several paranormal crises they need to deal with, so this book is full of action, battles, and danger. The one thing I was missing is romance. The romance took a back seat, so I am crossing my fingers that we will get more swoons in the third book. Also, Crush may upset people who don't like love triangles, but it didn't bother me at all. I loved Hudson and Grace's chemistry and banter and cannot wait to read the next book! Especially since Crush ended on such a cliffhanger! If you are looking for a captivating paranormal series, make sure to read these books....more

After Grace's parents die in a car accident, she moves to a remote Alaskan boarding school to live with her uncle and her cousin. She doesn't know that this is not a regular school but a school for paranormal creatures. There is a turf war happening between different species who all seem to hate her, and she becomes a pawn in their games. With all the creatures wanting Grace dead, will she survive her first week in a new school? Of course, this is a YA paranormal romance, so Grace meets a broody, angsty boy Jaxon (a vampire obviously), who one minute treats her with disdain, and the next minute saves her from near death.
I liked almost everything about the book. I found the world-building and the paranormal lore very interesting, and I want to know more about it. I liked the characters and the angsty romance (which is the best kind IMO). The chemistry between Grace and Jaxon was scorching hot. I loved Grace's snark and Jaxon's broodiness. The ending was fantastic, even though it was a cliff-hanger. I cannot wait to read the second book! I am happy that we are getting more vampire books, they disappeared for a while, but they are finally back....more

First of all, I am happy that vampires are back; I missed those suckers. I was very excited to pick up The Beautiful because I enjoyed Renee's other books and of course this book being about vampires, I had to read it. Overall, I enjoyed it with some reservations. The first part of the book was very slow-paced, the second half was more action-packed and captivating. It took me a while to get through the first half because not a lot was happening, while I was inpatient for some action.
I loved the sultry historical setting of New Orleans, and I found the characters interesting but underdeveloped. Sebastien and Celine have great chemistry, and their romance has potential, but I wanted to see more interactions between them. I cannot wait to see their relationship grow and develop in the next book. I also want to learn more about La Cour des Lions and all its members. The Beautiful ended on a cliff-hanger and whetted my appetite for more. I am very much looking forward to the next book.

I received an ARC of Thirst from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Although I love reading paranormal romance, I thought II received an ARC of Thirst from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Although I love reading paranormal romance, I thought I was over vampires but Jaquelyn Frank proved me wrong and surprised my in a good way. In Thirst we are introduced to a different kind of vampires, e-vamps, who feed on human energy instead of blood. I really enjoyed the worldbuilding in this book and I liked the fact that these vampires are quite different from the usual bloodsucking breed. I also loved the main heroine, Renee, who is independent, smart, and strong. She doesn't need to be rescued, she is the one who saves the day and I really liked that about her. The chemistry between Renee and Rafe, an energy vampire, is electrifying (literally) and makes for a hot read.
Thirst has a good balance of interesting worldbuilding, hot romance and action. It is a great start to a new series and I am looking forward to exploring the fascinating world of e-vamps. There are quite a few secondary characters worthy of their own stories and I hope we get books for Danton and Halo very soon. ...more
