Once I started reading the book, I was engrossed and didn't want to put it down. If I had to change one thing about the story, it would be easing off on the lack of communication between Emerson and Theo. Otherwise, the romance is pretty perfect! I cannot wait to read more books from Betty Cayouette. I hope she has more love stories up her sleeve.

After reading the blurb and seeing the gorgeous cover, I was very excited to read it. Unfortunately, the book didn't live up to my expectations. I liked the premise of the book. A romance between a magical dressmaker and a prince, for whom she was commissioned to make a wedding outfit, sounded enchanting, but the execution left me wanting more. I did not feel the romance. I also found most of the characters one-dimensional. I wanted to love this book, but I think this author's writing is not for me.

Molly is a cynical rom-com screenwriter who doesn't believe in love, and Seth is a divorce attorney who believes in soulmates and romance. Molly and Seth were high school sweethearts until Molly broke up with Seth on their graduation and broke Seth's heart. They meet up fifteen years later during their high school reunion. Sparks fly between them, but can they overcome their past hurts and rekindle their relationship?
Second-chance romance is one of my favorite tropes. I love the angst and the pining that usually accompanies this trope. Molly and Seth had a great chemistry. I enjoyed their banter, and the dialogue was top-notch. I loved the push and pull and how their relationship progressed. Just Some Stupid Love Story has a good mix of humor with more poignant themes. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I can't wait to read more books from this author.

Fall vibes (obviously) LGBTQ+ rep Gods and mortals Romantic entanglements Secrets and betrayals
Tirne is a human and the Herald of Autumn. Each year, she helps to usher her god, Autumn, into the mortal world through the enchanted mirror. For three months, she and Autumn stay at the Temple, after which they return to the Gods' realm to make way for Winter. Something happens one year when the mirror breaks, trapping her and Autumn in the mortal world. With no season changes, there will be no harvest and no food. Thirne vows to help the Temple priests restore the mirror, but someone is trying to frame her as a culprit for the mirror's breakage and sabotage its repair.
The Longest Autumn is part fantasy, part romance, part mystery, and altogether is a captivating and atmospheric story. I've read a lot of fantasy novels, but I haven't read anything like The Longest Autumn. I found some parts of the book, especially the beginning, a little slow, but it didn't detract from my enjoyment. I recommend The Longest Autumn to fantasy and romance readers who enjoy unique stories.

A few days after starting her work at the war rooms, Evelyne Redfern stumbles upon the dead body of one of her co-workers. Being a reader and admirer of detective novels, Evelyne decides to investigate the murder herself. David Pool is a minister's aide trying to uncover a possible leak from the war rooms. They end up working together to solve both mysteries.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. The setting of Churchill's war rooms is a perfect backdrop for a murder mystery. I liked Evelyne and her determination to uncover the killer. Despite some disagreements at first, Evelyne and David ended up being a great sleuthing team. And the sparks were flying between them. I hope that we will get more romance as the series progresses. I recommend A Traitor in Whitehall to all historical mystery fans, and I look forward to reading the next book.

Royal romance. End of the world. Road trip. Forced proximity. There is only one bed.
Wren Wheeler is an American teenager on a school trip to London. Theo, no last name, is a prince and the heir to the British throne. After the news of the approaching comet breaks with only eight days until the collision with Earth, Wren gets stranded at the airport, unable to return home because all the flights are canceled. Fate brings Wren and Theo together when Wren helps Theo evade the paparazzi. In return, Theo promises to help her return home to Chicago. What ensues is a race against time across five countries, complete with disguises, a fake identity, carjacking, dog rescuing, and almost drowning.
The Prince & the Apocalypse is a witty and adorable YA rom-com with quirky and likable characters. Theo and Wren have great chemistry. I loved their sweet romance. The ending was very intriguing, with a promise of a sequel that I can't wait to read. I highly recommend this book to YA romance and Royal romance fans.

I haven't read the first two books, and although it was easy to follow the plot and characters in Playing It Safe, I would've enjoyed it more if I read the previous books. Overall, this was a good murder mystery, if a little slow-paced, and I would recommend it to historical mystery and fiction fans.
