It wasn’t amazing, it wasn’t terrible. It was ok. I think this book has the same problem as many other romantasy books in the fact that it gets way overhyped and then expectations are very high. Oftentimes that leaves me letdown even if the book is good.

Admittedly, the dragon bits are few and short but given the ending, I'm guessing the next book will have more dragon content. I think this is a great new start to a new fantasy series and I'm definitely looking forward to reading more. This book hooked me right from the beginning and the worldbuilding isn't overwhelming at all so that is a definite plus. Fell, the Beast of the Borderlands is broody and hot, has a body like a god and protects his wife from the instant they are wed despite the deception of their joining. What's not to love.

I wish iI had high hopes for this book and while it was interesting, I felt like it read very YA with some adult scenes thrown in for the heck of it. I wish it would have either skipped the spice or been more mature overall. I think this was an ok read but I did feel that it dragged a bit. The concept is interesting but honestly the book fell a little flat for me. I am sure there are plenty of readers that will absolutely love this one and it's not a bad book by any means, I just think it wasn't for me. I did like the world-building and definitely liked the concept of intimacy through dreams.
The audiobook narrator Caitlin Kelly did a great job narrating.

This one started off a bit slow for me but once Phantasma began I couldn't put the book down. I really liked the play on the seven deadly sins and how the contestants chose to try and beat each level. This book is a little gory and a little dark so if that isn't your thing then I would say to stay away from this one. If you are looking for a dark, romantasy with some sexy times with a ghost then I think you should definitely pick this one up.

I appreciate that the FMC is older but for me she didn't act it. She could have easily been early 20's to me and I wouldn't have thought any different. I did like our broody MMC but I'm not 100% sure about their relationship. I wanted a bit more angst. That being said, I did like this book and will continue with the series even if this wasn't a 5 star read for me. Also, thank you Lyra for putting in a cliffhanger warning and giving readers a choice to read ahead or stop where you were. I have never seen this before and I really liked that concept. ...more

Anya's mom was so devilish and definitely in need of serious therapy. Poor Anya had to deal with her evil mother for years, but thankfully her wolf friend saves her. I really loved Rowan. He is so sweet and kind. I love that Anya ends up with someone like him. If I have one complaint about this book, it's that I felt the ending was a bit rushed and didn't have a ton of suspense. I just felt it was a bit anticlimactic. Overall, great story. It was fun and entertaining....more

I was not expecting to like this as much as I did and I couldn't be happier. I am so intrigued as to what is going to happen next. While this book does end on a cliffhanger of sorts it breaks at a good point....right after breaking your mind. I was floored when a big secret was revealed as I didn't see it coming but clues were probably given in hindsight. The epilogue was also done very well and made me wish the next book was out already.
If there is one little thing that bothered me about this book it's the fact that it seemed like there was possibly some worldbuilding that was done in the author's previous series that this book builds upon. This does read as the start of a new series but feel if you haven't read the previous series you may be missing out on some details. I can't really confirm this since I have not read the previous series but I intend to now.
I think this book would appeal to readers who are just getting into the sci-fi genre as it's pretty light but does take place in space. The enemies to lovers is done well and there are many secrets to uncover. I am definitely looking forward to reading the next book in this series. 4.5 stars!...more

It does have a bit of the Zodiac Academy and a bit of Crescent City feel but it's also unique in it's own way. I think the worldbuilding is done well and without huge amounts of info-dumping. It was very easy to read and get into right away. I love Godric and he is now my book husband. Wen is snarky and silly and at times a bit annoying but overall I really ended up liking her. This book does end on a bit of a cliffhanger but it is tied up enough to satisfy you until the next book comes out. 4 stars and .5 chili peppers because there is sexual talk and innuendo but no actual sex.

The worldbuilding is done well, the magic is amazing and the action is great. The steamy scenes are long and intimate and leave little to the imagination. I think it's hard to mix fantasy and romance and have it done well, but I have to say, this one is a good mix.
While I do wish that Zanya and Ash were a little closer and had a more intimate relationship (not talking about sexual) I understand that Sachi will always be number one for Zanya and Ash. I do think she adds a lot to the relationship and they make it work well.
All in all I think this was a very satisfying conclusion to the series but could also be built upon in the future.

I love that Dania wants to burn the world down in the name of revenge and I love seeing her get some of that revenge. I honestly think this book could have been longer and I don't normally say that! I enjoyed reading this book and I was drawn in right from the start which can be tricky with fantasy books because of the worldbuilding but this one was done really well. I didn't feel overwhelmed at all with meeting new characters or the world. I loved the twist, I loved Noor's character and I'm excited to see if this story continues in future books by this author as I think there is much more story that could be told here.
If you are a fan of books like The Stardust Thief or This Woven Kingdom, I think you will equally enjoy this book! Well done Emily!

While I did like the first book better, this one is a strong second book in the series. Zarya is still sassy and strong and I like following her story as she discovers more of her past and more of her magic. There is definitely some untapped potential there that I can't wait to read about in upcoming books in the series. Rabin is so broody and hot and he calls Zarya "Spitfire". Any time a man gives his woman a nickname I swoon and this one is particularly good imo. This is a wonderful group of characters that all have their own unique personalities and magic.

The worldbuilding is amazing and not overwhelming like many other fantasy books. The drumfire is unique and exciting, the obeah are mysterious and magical, the rich descriptions of the world and other elements were fantastic.
