For some reason I don’t read as much horror as I watch. That’s something I’ve been wanting to change. When I saw this book the other day I knew I had to read it. This was what I wanted The Ring to be. I’ve both read and watched The Ring and although I found the idea behind it really clever I wanted a bit more of the creepy factor. Such Lovely Skin delivered that for me.
I love that this was as twisted as any horror movie. The main character, Vivian, goes through (and does) some really wild things, and you always have the people around her who don’t believe her, because let’s be honest, it sounds absolutely insane, and I love that! It’s frustrating to get through, but you also kind of love it?
This was such a fun read, and a clever one at that. I loved the video game aspect. It’s creepy thinking about demonic spirits evolving as the world does. I love how that was handled here. Can’t wait until more people read this!...more

So blessed to have gotten the chance to read Happy Place early! I'm trying my best to articulate my feelings so hopefully this review comes out coherent. I've noticed that whenever I pick up an Emily Henry book I have to be in a certain mood. Mostly because I know I'm going to be going through so many emotions that will leave me feeling a certain way by the end. I'm in love with her writing, and even more in love with her stories.
This book explored so many things and in the most wonderful way. From relationships to career paths to everyday choices. Things that everyone can relate to and trust me, you're bound to relate to something. That's the beauty of Emily Henry's books to me. There's always something that speaks to you on a different level. This book felt the realist to me. How much we change as individuals as we grow older. How our friendships change and evolve. Our mental health and how it might impact our relationships. Most of all? Flawed characters. I love a book where the characters are obviously not perfect. You can see their flaws and yet the author can still bring out the best of them. You also can't help connected to every single one in some kind of way. It's inevitable. Emily Henry brings you a romance book that goes above and beyond it as well. A romance book that doesn't just center on the romance, but on all other aspects of life as well. I've never read a second chance romance before but I loved every minute of it. Then again I seem to love anything Emily Henry does because she does it so well.
Honestly this book made my heart expand more than was possible. Emily Henry's books just have a way of doing that to me. This left my heart feeling so full and yet strangely drained at the same time. Not that I'm complaining, because I know a book has truly impacted me when I get this feeling. A story that keeps you thinking and makes you focus on your own choices and decisions. A story that shows you how deep one persons love can go for the people they care about. I don't even know if I have more words to describe this story. My mind is buzzing with so much but also not enough. I honestly can't wait until you can all read this wonderful book....more

What a read this was! I saw Final Destination and Wicker Man and knew I just had to read it. The book gave me Midsommar vibes (which is one of my favourite horror movies. Do with that information what you will). It was a slow burn in the best way. There was a weary vibe through out and it was also a little weird. Enjoyed it so so much....more

There's nothing that disappoints me more than picking up a book I'm excited about and then not enjoying it. Dead Wednesday was kindly gifted to me and after reading the synopsis I was intrigued. Sadly this book was not for me. I usually read middle grade and it's one of the genres that I always end up enjoying but this one missed the mark.
The book was very short but I felt like it dragged. I would even say I struggled to finish it. Everything just felt so prolonged and half way through I wasn't even sure what the point of the story was. Unfortunately, it just felt like reading a whole lot of nothing for me. It had some uncomfortable moments too that kind of put me off. The synopsis itself was disturbing but I wanted to give this a chance. All in all I was confused and just not interested....more

Second, what on earth did I just read? I mean bloody hell I did not see THAT coming. Didn't even cross my mind. This was so clever. I remember thinking the same thing when I read Rock Paper Scissors. Similar in that way but the story takes a turn was just not expected. I need some time to process so I can write a more meaningful review. Seriously though, don't miss out on this!...more

Let me explain to you why this book is a blessing. First, we have our women in STEM. We need more stories like this. I need more stories like this (I'm sure STEM majors will agree). Second, the fake dating + grumpy/sunshine tropes. I don't think it can get more perfect than that combination. Olive and Adam were so sweet together. He's almost always grouchy (except with her) and she's the most upbeat human being to walk the earth. I genuinely love these two so much. There was so much banter and bickering and I was there for every minute of it. They were just the softest together and it was all exactly what I was looking for. I'll admit, I hardly ever pick up romances. They've never really been my thing but this was everything I wanted it to be. It actually got me motivated to read more romance now. I was enjoying it so much and I never wanted it to end. It officially lives in my mind rent-free.
Olive was so sweet and uplifting I honestly adored her. I loved her little quirks and how she genuinely brought the best out of everyone. Adam was what I was expecting but also...not? I loved seeing him fall in love with her. I was rooting for these two from the beginning! *Sigh* This book was everything I wanted and more. I really need to find more books to fill the gap that this left behind. I'm definitely looking forward to reading what Ali Hazelwood writes next! Please read this!
I've been asked about the content and I'm here to let you know that there are some explicit chapters. So if you're uncomfortable here's your warning....more

Where to start talking about The Final Child? I read the synopsis and knew right away that I wanted to read it. Was I expecting it to be as terrifying as it was? Definitely not. The suspense really built up in this book. I could feel it getting more intense with each chapter. More questions kept popping in my head the more I read, I just couldn’t put this book down!
The concept of this book is very unique. I haven’t read that many thrillers but I knew this story would be one of a kind. I’ll be honest with you, I was terrified throughout most of this book. The concept itself is scary and I’m not easily scared when reading books but this did it. I could hear my heart beating in my ears and the same questions kept repeating in my head, what exactly is going on? The first half of the book was interesting if a little on the slow side but I knew it was building up to something big so I eagerly kept reading. I enjoyed that it was told from both Harriet and Erins points of view. It was nice to know what each of them was feeling and thinking, especially when they were apart. I do wish there had been more of a difference in their voices. At times I felt like I was reading from the same person and I got a little confused and had to check whose chapter I was reading.
I’ll admit, I was not expecting certain chapters here. I won’t say what I’m talking about to avoid ruining it for anyone but those took me by surprise! It was a nice change. The second half of the book was honestly terrifying. I was so scared about what would be revealed but I also really needed to know. I might have guessed at once of the reveals and finding out I was right was surprising, to say the least. I expected it but I also…didn’t? The last bit of the book was the wildest ride! I was so scared for both of our characters. The end left me with some serious questions. I was expecting closure but damn did the author freak me out with that one!
Highly recommend this for the thriller lovers out there! Especially if you’re looking to get scared in between all the guesswork. I truly enjoyed it (is enjoy the right word?) it kept me hooked for the longest time and that’s exactly what I was hoping it would do.
