The main character of this book is doing her first overnight in the psych ward. First of all the psych ward has to be full of interesting characters. Second of all, nobody wants to be there when the lights go out. Why? Because when the ‘bodies hit the floor’. you’ll never be able to guess who doesn’t make it until morning. Truthfully, I’m not into I honestly didn’t know if I wanted to read There is a Door in this Darkness by Kristin Cashore Because it is very political. Truthfully, I’m not into politics and I understand that that will upset some, but there will also be a group of people cheering me on for not letting it stress me out. This book takes place during Covid and the 2020 election. The main character, Wilhelmina, is a teenager who is very stressed at the thought of Trump winning the 2020 election. After all, she barely made it through 2016-2020 with him being in office. She is so hyper focused on the election, that it has affected all aspects of her life. The best part of this book is Wilhelmina ‘s three aunts. They are not related to her by blood, but they are family, and they are very wise. They often tell her that when she feels things around her changing, she needs to look for “a door“. It is not a real door, but a feeling of a door. The three aunts are also against Trump Spending another four years as president. Due to covid they are Living with Wilhelmina and They are not in their home state. (Coincidentally a swing state)the aunts are worried that their mail ballots will not arrive in time for them to vote. In addition to those two plots there are some supernatural elements that are fun but overshadowed by all the hate for Trump. ...more

We follow July and hJuly Fielding wakes up one morning, and everyone is gone- even the animals! And thus brings The Only Girl in Town by Ally Condie.
We follow July and her current day search to find others and to try and solve the mystery as to why she was left here alone. July finds creepy messages left all over town telling her to ‘find th3m’ (there’s a reason they use a ‘3’ and not an ‘e’ but I’ll let you find that out). Who is she suppose to find? The book also has flashbacks of July interacting with her family, friends, School, and boyfriend.
Nothing about this book is normal. The writing style and short chapters are unique way for the author to keep reading readers intrigued. The characters are not going to be memorable to me, and neither was the storyline. So much untapped potential lies in this books plot. The ending was so bad that I wish I had never started the book to begin with.

Being HYou may know him as the Fonz or Gene Cousineau (or any characters he has played in between), but you probably don’t really know Henry Winkler. Being Henry is a fabulous memoir based on the life of Henry Winkler, and his many adventures in life and acting. I learned so much in this book about somebody who I thought I actually knew. Henry has been an actor longer than I’ve been alive, and I grew up watching him on television. Even though we feel like we know actors from TV, we really don’t know who they are as a person until they tell us. And boy does Henry tell us in this book. So many surprising interactions with other actors (I did not know how close Henry and John Ritter were) that I adore, stories of Henry’s life, that I never could’ve imagined took place, and just an overall ‘leaves you feeling good at the end’ book. How can you go wrong ready a book about the Fonz?? “Heyyyyy ...more

The plot says it is a spy thriller about a mysterious MI6 agent who goes into hiding after a mission he works on goes south. But for me, The Cleaner by Mark Dawson, was a non trilling spy book that left me bored and not entertained. I only finished it so I could leave an honest review.
John Milton (the ousted MI6 agent) is in hiding. Not only from the people that he works for- MI6 (British secret intelligence service), but also from the people he betrayed. The author tries to weave a thrilling story of espionage and escape that takes place in London’s East End. While in hiding, John falls in love with a single mother So of course he hast to protect them when MO6 comes after him.
I wasn’t a fan of the characters or the writing style. I do not anticipate reading any more books in this series and will not likely read any more books by this author. Maybe I am just not built for British spy books, only British spy movies in my future! Ha ha. ...more
