There's mini comics from 40 autistic creators, and I really loved most of them - some of them I even recognized from seeing them online at some point.
I'm definitely picking up a physical copy of this, because it'll be a great resource to revisit regularly. There's lots of empowering and uplifting stuff, and also even coping strategies.

I love graphic novels like this that look so deceptively simple. The text, art style and use of colour are all sparse, but together they create something larger, rich in feeling.
Kit has passed away, and her soul goes on a 49-day journey after her death, following Buddhist tradition. We follow her journey, as well as her looking back on her life through flashbacks. And we follow her family in their time of grief, working through this loss together.
At first, the family's perspective felt the most touching to me, but admittedly, I might have shed a tear or two when reading Kit's storyline at the end. This is a true example of when less is more, and invoked so much emotion in me....more

I love the message the title was based on, that your body is not just some house for your brain that you simply ended up with, but one you deserve to make into your home....more

I'm so glad this is getting published physically, because it's AMAZING and I know I'm going to need a copy. It's the perfect amounts of dark and suspenseful yet cute, cosy and funny. If that sounds strange, I'm sorry, I can't explain it any better. I thought this was so well done, and I already adore both characters....more
I requested this solely because I enjoyed Hotel Dare, also by Terry Blas, a few years ago. And I might just love this even more! I need volume 2 NOW.

This story is so charming. We follow Blanca, who leaves home at 18 to make it in New York. She quickly meets Emile and moves in with him and his many roommates, finding friendship and support. The book has such a large cast of characters, but everyone felt distinctive, and we got to meet everyone one on one, as Blanca has personal conversations with them.
I truly got sitcom vibes from this story, and it has the potential to go on for many installments. Be sure to preorder because you're in for a lot of fun!...more

We follow Grace, who's very anxious and doesn't have many friends. Her best friend and roommate drags her to PFF (Pillow Fight Federation), which is roller derby combined with wrestling, where they use a pillow to fight. She thinks everyone is so badass, but there's no one who looks like her so she feels like she wouldn't fit in. Then someone else enters the ring, and she's also fat, like Grace, so Grace suddenly feels confident enough to join. This changes a lot for her: she gains friends and confidence, which was so great to follow along with....more

I love an Arthurian retelling, and this is a fun, adventurous, easily digestible one with a lovely romance between Tristan and Lancelot. When Camelot is under attack and Merlin is missing, Morgan gets sent on a mission to retrieve him, and she's accompanied by Tristan and Lancelot. Chaos ensues, and I had so much fun with this graphic novel!...more

I thought this middlegrade graphic novel about a girl spending the summer with her grandmother was really sweet.
I did however sometimes feel like the art style didn't match the story. The main character is almost 14, which is on the older side for middlegrade, and she looks at least several years younger, which felt jarring considering the storyline where she sent private photos to a boy she liked who then posted them online. The boy she befriends during the summer, who's 16 years old, also looks like he's 12 at most. I did think the art work was otherwise really cute, but this felt very jarring at times.
I also felt like the writing was very choppy. It didn't feel cohesive and didn't flow smoothly, which took me out of the story at times....more

I can personally confirm "A puppy falls asleep in your lap" is a GREAT feeling.
In the end, I loved the message of how it's not just happy feelings, but the full range of emotions, that matter. Happiness doesn't always last, and other feelings have their purpose too. This was a great journey to see the main character go on....more
