YA LGBT+ Fake dating Some swearing & mentions of sex & drinking
"I want to know she understands how it feels to be falling in new love and bleeding from old love at the same time”
“I didn’t mean to, I loved her so much. I thought she was perfect. When I started seeing things I wasn’t so sure about, I thought the problem was me and my way of looking at things. It felt like I couldn’t tell the ceiling from the floor.”
“And you are very, very worthy. You’re worthy of love you feel good about. Not just from a girl, but from yourself.”
“You will move through life and fall in love with many different people, and at some point, you will get your heart broken. It’s unavoidable. The key is to not be afraid of the breaking. People break our hearts, but they create more room in them first, and that room makes it possible for us to become more ourselves.”
“You’re a force to be reckoned with. I think you should stop hiding from people.”...more

I read the audio and the narrator was incredible, she used her voice and I could hear the different characteristics of each character.
It was a little too long in my opinion (474 pages in case you were curious).
It was funny and entertaining and different. Who would have guessed I'd love a historical book? (not really a factual historical but still)
TV SHOW REVIEW: * After watching the 1st episode - So, they didn't stick to the book, and I'm sad * After watching the last episode - Many things are different. Less funny. Margret is amazing. It was not bad if it stands on its own but the book is much better. They left it with an avenue for a season 2. Glad it at least made me read the book finally. ...more

This book was just so beautiful and emotional. I wish I'd marked stuff up as I went along but alas. This book covers, so many topics and does it so well. Now, I have not experienced most of the topics myself but I believe it was respectful and relatable (based on lila's review)

I feel like our main girl was childish, but also spoke like a 30 year old sometimes? She had a moment where she said she wished her parents were still together but I feel at some point, with all you know, how could you wish that? Even with all the money.
Our FMC was sooo confident and in charge of her master heist plan, but just in case you were curious, the majority of her 'research' was watching Ocean's 11 multiple times. I honestly wish I could be that confident from watching a movie about something.
Kevin was a whole story line which actually might have been the best part somehow? All the others on the team just there? they were convenient. Jackson - what can I say about him... I feel like he was too good for her but he was also blind and maybe even a bit obsessed with her - "he looked at her endearingly", "he worked for months to buy the Adidas shoes I wanted"....more

We have a kind of prison school for monsters, where they are stuck on an Island. It is definitely for teens, not explicit stuff, but there is blood, fire, and death in the story. All are monsters, our main girl is the headmaster's daughter, and all the others are there for a reason.
I was having a good time with it, it was easy and fun to read. It had an interesting concept and story that kept me engaged.
Where this fell a bit short for me was: 1) The romance (like could we not have had some flashbacks or something to give us more of the feels?) 2) The mate thing (came out of nowhere) 3) The ending (felt a bit rushed) 4) The family dynamics (but it also made sense in a way) 5) The teacher thing
I am curious about the next one and will be on the lookout for it. Also, you don't have to read crave before this....more

I was so into the world and the mythology but I feel like I didn't understand like a 1/3 of the stuff. The mystery aspect was good and even though I guessed the reveal I had fun. There is infodumping but honestly not sure how else she could have put so much world-building in one book...
There is death, murder, and a lot of manipulation. I do want to read the 2nd - which is also maybe the last? I think it's a duology. ...more

I enjoy her writing and creativity. But something here felt off.
First off, I thought this would be about Gray and he was a really small part in actuality, and his romance was odd and I was not feeling it. I liked Gigi before, no longer. I don't really care about the other characters. We had like 4? maybe 8 senses of Xander? made me really sad we didn't have more as I love him to bits.
ODETTE IS THE BEST CHARACTER AND I'LL DIE ON THIS HILL (Which for a book where I already know half the people is a little sad ngl...). Will definitely read a book/novella just about her past.
I am disappointed but mostly because I really thought this was going to be something and it was really not it. The whole point of the game felt pointless? if the people are already rich going in/have benefactors? why do the game at all?
Will still probably read the next ones, but I need to remember not to expect... anything really and then I'll probably enjoy it more.

(Angelika) ------------------------------------ Ok, so the start was really slow, and not slow-burn slow, just slow. There was so much filler? and it felt unnecessary to have that many non-main plot related details. It took about 45% of the book and I nearly gave up because it's also a long-ish book. But then that chapter at about 55-60% happened and from there it really got me invested. But it's asking for a lot of patience. Also, the amount of times hair/hairy/hairs/shaving was mentioned was a lot.
