We’re not there yet with accurately diagnosing females with ADHD, but we’re in a much better place, and books like this are a tremendous help and resource.

It’s been over thirty-five years since the original “Cake Bible” premiered, however, and an update has been long overdue. I learned so much from reading this. Rose Levy Beranbaum has dedicated her life to creating delicious desserts, and she’s been very busy since 1988. As such, there are a lot of new recipes and variations in this edition that you simple must try out. I know cake aficionados are anxiously awaiting this, and the long wait ends before Halloween this year! It’s worth it!

This is kind of like a Harry Potter meets Percy Jackson story. Tempest finds out she has a very unusual background and that there are others willing to kill her for it. She then moves to a private compound where there are many similar people, and she learns more about where she came from. Add some pining and romance, and you’ve got “A Trace of Something Stranger.”
Now, I’m not a sweeping romance kind of person, but I don’t mind some sprinkled into a story. This one was over the top, for me. I’m paraphrasing, but stuff like “He couldn’t control his protective urges and didn’t know why” just makes me annoyed. You just met!!

Apparently the knowledge that you have a dwindling air supply and only one cryo unit turns people into savages.
Oh, the lack of humanity!
Read on, if you dare, but don’t say I didn’t warn you about the violence.

I liked this, but it’s a little longer than it needs to be. There’s a lot going on, but one thing remains the same, and that is that humans will always have enemies, sometimes even amongst themselves. The novels ends with a pretty startling revelation, and I do want to read the next installment to see what happens. Again, as in Book One, the text suffers from some typos. This series has real promise—it just needs a good editor or two.

I hated the beginning, but then it got a lot better. The characters are well-fleshed out, and you truly come to care for them. There are still a few typos in here, which really should have been fixed by now, considering this was published in 2017. Still, I enjoyed the book and want to read more about the main characters.
On to Book Two!

It’s super helpful if you have a child with ASD, or even if you only know someone who does. Loveson has great ideas on how to support kids and teens with autism. It’s got tips and tricks, as well as suggestions for online support for both parents and their kids. It’s refreshingly upbeat, when so many times we parents beat ourselves up when we make mistakes. I would definitely read more from Loveson.

It’s a “screw you” straight to the men who think women are insipid, flighty and incapable of rational thought. It’s a treatise on mental health. This has the most realistic portrayal I have ever read of someone with anxiety and panic attacks. Educate yourself on what that’s like by reading this book.
And that prose! It’s absolutely gorgeous.
I just preordered a special edition hardback. Yeah, I liked it a little. Now I want Ava Reid to write “Angharad”, pretty please.
