When it comes to King I seem to either love it or hate it, and this book was awesome. I had read three Kings books I really didn't like in a row and IWhen it comes to King I seem to either love it or hate it, and this book was awesome. I had read three Kings books I really didn't like in a row and I had began to think my tastes had changed. I read The Running Man and then this book, both where great, so it just seems to be that I like his early stuff.
I highly recommend this one.
I have a feeling I should read the Stand and finish the Dark Tower in the near future....more

I read this at the same time as I was reading Fight Club. And Fight Club is better written and more disturbing, so it made this book seem fairly tame.I read this at the same time as I was reading Fight Club. However this book is a decent psychological thriller, but I didn't find is too scar or creepy myself. And some of elements that were supposed to be creepy seemed a little lame, like the girl constantly vomiting on people.
However if you are into horror you will most likely enjoy this book.
This book did remind me of how popular horror movies where when I was growing up in the 80s. Today horror movies just don't seem to be nearly as popularly, and have more of a cult following. I wonder what changed, have the new movies gone too far with too much gore, so as to alienate most people? Or are thinks like Zombies so commonplace today that no one really cares, and that they have ceased to be scary? ...more

Unfortunately I'm not 13 anymore and some stuff that seemed so cool when I was 13 seemed so lame in a novel at the age of 33. Due to pure nostalgia I am giving this book 3 stars and I enjoyed it because it was reminded me of my past enjoyment of comics.
This is not terribly written, it's just that it reads exactly like a comic, and somehow comics seem cheesy when you don't have pretty pictures to keep you distracted from some of it. ...more
