I want to support him like he’s supported me, and I want to see his eyes sparkle when he’s excited. I’m in love with Avi Vega, wholly, truly, un-fucking-deniably"
Well, diving into m/m romance wasn't part of my 2024 bingo card but then i said fuck it and decided to just give it a shot and also because siff just kept talking about them and i got intrigued. Honestly, i have heard alot of people raving about nyla k and this book and as per the record i have always gotten nothing but disappointments from ig recs or the hyped books but THIS BOOK it didn't disappoint me not even in the least. Every element of this book—the characters, the storyline, the writing, the chemistry, and the sexual tension—was beyond perfection. I won't lie; I was so obsessed with this book that even if I tried, I couldn't put it down.
Avi, the stoner kid with a reputation for being different, experiences a major upheaval when his mother decides to remarry. Moving in with the new stepdad and his grumpy son Kyran , Avi makes earnest efforts to connect with his stepbrother. However, despite Avi's attempts to establish a bond, he gradually realizes that his stepbrother harbors an inexplicable dislike for him. As Avi extends multiple olive branches, the resentment remains, leaving him stuck with an asshole stepbrother who seems to harbor hate towards him without any apparent reason.
╰┈➤ Avi Vega
Avi, the seemingly carefree stoner, conceals a complex character grappling with personal flaws and insecurities, finding solace in smoking. Despite outward comfort, the uncertainty about his future gnaws at him. Avi embodies the free-spirited individual who goes with the flow, yet the fear of making wrong decisions looms large in his life, adding layers to his character.
Avi's character is a complex interplay of emotions and insecurities. The loss of his father at a young age casts a long shadow, leaving him with an enduring sense of inadequacy. This emotional baggage manifests as a fear of never being enough, discouraging Avi from attempting to conform to societal expectations. Deep-rooted anxiety prevents him from opening up to others, as he constantly worries about becoming too needy or overwhelming. The absence of romantic experience compounds his unease, making him hesitant to explore deeper connections. In the midst of these challenges, Avi faces the introduction of a new stepfamily. Despite genuine attempts to forge connections, the process proves challenging, leading him to withdraw and question the feasibility of forming meaningful relationships.
Amidst Avi's layers of issues and insecurities, there lies a profound desire for unconditional love. Beneath his exterior of complexities, he is a genuine sweetheart who wholeheartedly supports his friends, acting as a beacon of positivity. What truly sets him apart is his arsenal of sassy and witty replies, a quality that adds a delightful charm to his character. Avi's ability to bring a smile to anyone's face, regardless of the circumstances, showcases his unique capacity to infuse joy into the lives of those around him.
╰┈➤ Kyran Harbor
Kyran, the epitome of a stereotypical stepbrother, is portrayed as the grumpy, football-obsessed type who meticulously plans every aspect of his life. His dedication to perfection and conformity clashes starkly with Avi's more laid-back demeanor. The clash of their personalities, with Avi's free-spirited attitude contrasting Kyran's structured life, becomes the central theme of their tumultuous relationship.
Kyran, burdened by a traumatic past, copes by shutting down his emotions and projecting an image of perfection. His encounter with Avi serves as a catalyst for self-reflection, prompting him to confront the person he could have become without the weight of his past. The ensuing frustration and self-hatred directed at Avi unfold as a complex layer in their relationship.
Kyran's character development throughout the story was truly remarkable. Despite my initial dislike, witnessing him evolve into a more open and affectionate person as he fell in love was heartwarming. The transformation from an uptight individual to a caring sweetheart added depth to his character, making him more lovable as the story progressed.
╰┈➤Kyran and Avi
Kyran and Avi, though seemingly incompatible, created a dynamic that was nothing short of magical. Their banter was like a symphony of wit and humor, and the sparks of their chemistry ignited the pages. As the story unfolded, we witnessed the evolution of their relationship, from initial tension to a beautifully woven connection. The exploration of their characters, vulnerabilities, and the profound moments of self-discovery made the narrative rich and engaging.
Kyran and Avi's dynamic was like two perfectly fitting puzzle pieces. Their chemistry, banter, sexual tension, and love were all off the charts. Despite my best efforts, finding a flaw in this book proved challenging because everything about it was beyond perfection.
Their dynamic was like a finely tuned melody, each note perfectly harmonizing with the other. The intimate moments were not just well-crafted but also added a layer of emotional depth to the narrative. The book's addictive nature, combined with the seamless blend of humor and sensuality, made it an irresistible read.
°˖➴ Overall, if you're on the lookout for a book with intense banter, well-crafted characters, phenomenal chemistry, and a level of sexual tension that practically leaps off the pages and wraps around you, then your search ends here. And yeah let me warn you people this book is highly addictive so proceed with caution!! ...more

"I GRIEF FOR THE GIRL I USED TO BE. WE’LL NEVER KNOW WHAT SHE COULD HAVE BECOME"
In the realm of poetry, this collection shines brightly as an exquisite exploration of profound themes, tackling issues such as sexual assault, injustice, and the pervasive sense of inadequacy. With each verse, it eloquently captures the struggles that women endure in their daily lives, offering a poignant reflection on the intricacies of their experiences. Every poem unfolds like a delicate tapestry, weaving together emotions and societal challenges, creating a resonant and powerful narrative that lingers in the reader's heart.
I have never been a mythology person and to be honest never really believed in them until i read this book and searched about Persephone and whatever she have been through. She was not only abducted by the god of underworld Hades, that was her uncle but also was forcefully married to him and now if it wasn't enough she was also sexually assaulted by her own father and her mother she tried everything to protect her little girl but alas she failed. My heart truly goes out to the goddess who have been through so much and who was called different names even tho she wasn't at fault. Persephone's journey, marked by abduction, forced marriage, and unimaginable horrors, resonated deeply. Yet, amidst the darkness, she transformed her pain into power, emerging as the QUEEN she was destined to be. Her story stands as a testament to the strength born from adversity, a reminder that even in the depths of despair, one can rise to regal heights.
This book illuminated the unwavering strength and resilience that defines womanhood. It beautifully articulated the power, intelligence, and love embodied by every woman. My heart swells with pride for those who stood up for themselves, and it goes out to every woman who navigated hardships without receiving the apology and justice they deserved. To these true goddesses, you deserve the world and more
In my debut encounter with this author, I'm convinced it won't be the last. Her enchanting way with words captivates attention, making you feel every emotion. By the end of the book, tears welled up in my eyes.
°˖➴ Overall, this book stands as a literary masterpiece. “Every lemon will bring forth a child and the lemons will never die out.”
Well, i have seen alot of people rave about this book since months but honestly i have been pretty conflicted about reading this. Why?? Bc every booktok rec have disappointed me soo far and i was afraid it would do the same but guess what it didn't. It is literally one of best literary pieces i have read till date. Every aspect of this was pure perfection—the storyline, the characters, the writing, even the quotes. I adored every single detail. Honestly, I wish I could erase it from my memory just so I could experience it all over again, feeling every emotion as if for the first time.
This book didn't just touch me; it shattered my heart, crushed my soul, and left an imprint on my very being. It's the kind of story that lingers long after you've closed the pages, like a gentle whisper in the back of your mind. Each word felt like a warm cup of coffee on a cold winter day—comforting yet profoundly stirring. Even after I turned the final page, I found myself unable to shake its grip on my thoughts, contemplating the struggles of countless children who may be facing similar challenges at this very moment.
After reading this, I couldn't help but realize how privileged we truly are. We take for granted the simple things like breathing without worry, enjoying a warm meal without fear of scarcity, or having clean water and a roof over our heads without a second thought. It's heartbreaking to think about the innocence stolen from these children because we, as humans, have lost touch with our own humanity.
Imagine for a moment the gut-wrenching reality of living with the constant fear of death. It's exhausting to worry about where your next meal will come from, if you'll have a roof over your head, or even if you'll take your next breath. It's unfathomable to me how anyone could subject innocent children to such suffering—they don't deserve to contemplate their own mortality or wish for an end to their pain by disappearing. Children should be free to live their lives, playing, dancing, and experiencing the joys of childhood, not burdened with adult worries. Sometimes, I can't help but wonder: is it truly so difficult to hold onto our humanity, or have we become emotionless monsters who thrive on the suffering of others?
Hope is the lifeline for so many, the beacon guiding them through the darkest of times. It's the belief that someday they'll find freedom, that someday this suffering will cease, and that someday happiness will be within reach. Hope is what sustains them, keeping their spirits alive and their dreams alive. They long for the day when they can live without the burden of worries that we often take for granted as basic necessities.
This book mirrors the current state of our world in many ways. It follows the journey of Salama, an eighteen-year-old surgeon who saves lives every day, yet grapples with overwhelming guilt when she can't save someone dear to her. Forced to grow up too soon due to circumstances beyond her control, she faces the dilemma of leaving her homeland or staying behind. Enter Kenan, who challenges her resolve to stay having lost everyone else in the war. It's a poignant tale of love, loss, and the struggles of navigating life in the midst of chaos.
Its set in Syria during the country’s civil war, 'As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow' follows 18-year-old Salama Kassab as she navigates life under a cruel dictatorship. It's a story of unwavering love for one's country and the resilience that sustains people even in the darkest of times. Though fiction, it echoes the real-life struggles of countless Syrians who lost everything yet found the strength to persevere. It reminds us that amidst pain and hardship, happiness can still be found, and goodness prevails even in a world filled with evil. It's a gentle reminder that even when hope seems lost, a flicker of light remains to guide the way forward."
I'm truly happy that Kenan and Salama found each other. They've endured so much and deserve all the happiness in the world. While the book may not focus solely on romance, their love story is everything to me. They deserve all the happiness in the world. While nothing can replace the time or the people they've lost, I wish them everything. I want to believe that they never experienced another bad day, only happiness, after all they've been through.
The way the author crafted this book is absolutely gut-wrenching. It's as if every word was carefully chosen to evoke the deepest emotions in the reader. I've never come across a story that resonated with me so profoundly. It's the kind of book that lingers in your thoughts long after you've finished reading, leaving an indelible mark on your soul. I've never encountered a story that stayed with me quite like this one. It's the kind of book I'll never tire of recommending to others.

"I realized that leaving this town without you was the scariest thought I’ve ever had. I need you in my life like I need air, Annie. You have wrecked me in the best way I could ever imagine, and I’ll never be the same. Never want to be the same.I love you. And I know marriage is something that’s deeply important to you—and what you want is deeply important to me, so…marry me, Annie. No one else.”
This book wasn't just good; it was an enchanting bundle of wholesomeness that made me feel all giggly and blushy. The bond, chemistry, and undeniable sexual tension between the main leads were beyond perfection. As someone with high expectations, I can confidently say this book exceeded them, leaving me charmed by the delightful narrative. Each page turned was a testament to the author's storytelling prowess, solidifying my affection for the characters and the captivating world they inhabited.
The only thing i was scared off was that it might have a doormat fmc which i hate with everything in me but the fmc in this book was nothing like what i expected she was super adorable, fun although little shy and introverted but come on being introverted doesn't make someone boring or stupid it's just societal views which don't really make sense lol.
╰┈➤ Annie Walker
In the charming town, she embodied the typical kind, introverted, and socially awkward character while gracefully managing her flower shop. Breaking away from the doormat stereotype, her loveliness extended beyond her personality. What I admired most was her kindness towards everyone in the town, her unwavering support for family and friends, which proved both a blessing and a curse. Because of this the townsfolks always saw her as an angel needing protection from all the world's evils.
I deeply resonated with her struggles, as it's disheartening when kindness is mistaken for weakness. The town's overprotectiveness, treating her like delicate glass, infuriated her, intensifying her social anxiety. Despite not showing it, she yearned to be seen beyond societal perceptions. Not that she showed all of that but it made her more socially anxious and made her feel that all she needs in her life is to marry and settle down with someone who would somehow see her for who she was, rather than what people thought of her. Her character development was a joy to witness – reaching a breaking point, she called out the town's condescension and decided to define herself. She emerged as a lovable, resilient ray of sunshine, spreading happiness and love to all.
"Will Griffin is absolutely not the kind of man I need. Too bad he’s very quickly becoming the man I want."
╰┈➤ Will Griffin
The absolute love of my life like honestly im about to get his name tattooed on my forehead lmfaoooo. Meet Will Griffin, the epitome of the "no relationships, no love" motto, until he met Annie. This man, with more green flags than a parade, had the charm to melt hearts. From the moment his eyes met Annie's, he knew she was the ONE . Despite his initial reluctance and childhood traumas haunting him, he couldn't escape the gravitational pull of love.
Will Griffin is more than a character; he's a manifestation of perfection, adorned with beautiful flaws and a grumpy yet sweet personality. His exceptional communication skills elevate him in a world where such qualities are often scarce. This remarkable man not only knows how to take care of his girl but also actively supports her in embracing new adventures. In the realm of literary characters, Will stands as a dreamy figure, and attempting to find any flaws in him seems like an impossible task.
Despite carrying a considerable amount of baggage from a traumatic past, he never allowed it to spill onto others or taint his feelings for Annie. His recognition of Annie as the perfect match spoke volumes about his emotional intelligence. While my heart broke for him, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride. Despite enduring deep-seated issues stemming from his parents' toxic marriage, Will refused to let that trauma dictate his life. Yes, he had struggles, but his approach to dealing with them showcased remarkable maturity.
"It was always difficult to not pay attention to the youngest Walker sister. The sweet one, everyone says. The quiet one. The cute one. I’ve heard folks in that town refer to Annie as every possible synonym of those words—but never once did they give her the adjective that always sprung into my head when I saw her: gorgeous. Something about her attracts me in an I-could-get-feelings-for-her kind of way. And I don’t do feelings."
╰┈➤ Will and Annie
Will and Annie, despite their differing views on love and life, turned out to be a perfect match. Will, who vowed never to fall in love, and Annie, who desired stability, discovered a beautiful connection with undeniable chemistry and seamless communication. Their story proves that sometimes opposites not only attract but also create a magical and harmonious bond.
Their story ignited when Annie, stung by rejection, sought a dating coach. Enter Will Griffin, not just a guide but a swoon-worthy companion in the dance of romance. Their practice sessions weren't just about rules; the charged tension was palpable through the words. This tale unfolds as a testament to every girl's dream – a partner like Will, who not only cares deeply but also crafts a haven of safety and love.

This book gracefully navigates through the landscape of pain, revealing the hidden beauty that exists even in the midst of despair. The author's skillful storytelling crafts a poignant and meaningful narrative, imprinting its impact on anyone immersed in its pages. It's a tale that not only resonates with beauty but also delves into the profound reflections on the resilience of the human spirit, making it an unforgettable journey that reverberates long after the final chapter.
This book delves into the poignant narrative of a woman's enduring struggle for basic respect in a society plagued by unattainable standards. As the story unfolds, it vividly portrays the suffering women endure due to societal expectations, it sheds light on the oppression and injustice faced by women during times of war, emphasizing the societal pressure to bear a male heir as their only means of escape. The tale unfolds with a serious tone, yet it carries a simplicity that tugs at the heart, leaving a sweet resonance that lingers long after the final page.
At its core, this story unravels the life of Mariam, born as a bastard child to a wealthy man, condemned to a lifetime of discrimination and injustice. Branded as a wretched child, she endured neglect and ignorance from her own family for 15 long years. Her path took a darker turn when she was married off to Rasheed, a man twice her age, who viewed women merely as breeding machines. Rasheed's character is portrayed as an absolute disgrace, subjecting Mariam to abuse, rape, and continuous insult due to her inability to bear children throughout their marriage.
In the face of life's unfairness towards Mariam, she emerges as one of the most kind and selfless individuals. Her resilience shines through, demonstrating that despite life's hardships, maintaining kindness and love for those who deserve it is paramount. Despite enduring betrayal from every corner of her life, Mariam remains remarkably resilient, kind, and loving. Her journey is a heart-wrenching testament to the depth of her character, evoking a profound sense of empathy for all the undeserved suffering she endured.
Enter Laila, a character whose once beautiful life takes a drastic turn due to the ravages of war, leading her to an unforeseen marriage with Rasheed. Despite initial animosity between the two women, a unique bond develops over time, offering solace in each other's company. When Rasheed's true nature is revealed upon the birth of Laila's first daughter, mistreatment ensues. In this scenario, Mariam, a beacon of kindness and gentleness, stands as a protector, consistently shielding Laila and her children from the harsh realities they face. This intricate narrative weaves a tale of resilience, unexpected alliances, and the enduring strength found in the bond between these two women.
This narrative concludes in one of the most heart-wrenching ways imaginable. Mariam, the epitome of kindness, makes the last and ultimate sacrifice for Laila and her children, granting them the opportunity for a free and happy life with Laila's love, Tariq. Anticipating the inevitable, I sensed Mariam would be the one to make this selfless sacrifice, a testament to the life that had shaped her into a remarkably kind-hearted soul.
As the story reached its culmination, my heart shattered for Mariam. Despite life's hardships, she never allowed pain to sour her spirit. Till the end, she remained as beautiful and lovely as a flower, a testament to her enduring grace. Even when life was unrelenting in its cruelty, Mariam's unwavering focus on Laila's happiness showcases the depth of her selflessness. This somber yet beautiful tale leaves a lasting imprint, celebrating the resilience and sacrificial love that defines Mariam's character.
