I read this book really quickly and the reason why I read it so quickly is because whenever I was asked to describe this book I described it as: Imagine it as a Law and Order: SVU episode set in 1944 Chicago and that it involved Japanese-Americans newly released from the horrible internment camps living there. It involves lots of trauma and hardships and dealing with traumatic situations. It tells the story of Aki trying to solve the mystery of her sister Rose's death and if it was in fact a suicide or something else? I loved the fact that Aki works at a library. I also loved that she was surrounded by a wonderful family and friends even through all of the hardships. I loved Aki and her romantic interest and their relationship. I really loved everything about this book and I strongly recommend it!...more

I loved all of the characters and how they were all so different! One of the problems that I had with the book is that I have seen the latest movie version with Kenneth Brannaugh as Poirot and Johnny Depp as the man who is murdered so I had a hard time adapting to the idea that the man Johnny Depp played was described as an elderly gentleman with false teeth in the book. This is one of the best mystery novels that I have ever read in my entire life. I thought that Poirot was goofy, fabulous and a genius. This is only the fourth book that I have read with him as the detective. I have also read: Black Coffee which is a play about him, a collection of short stories about him and The A. B. C. Murders which I also highly recommend. I loved that the book took place on a train and that it is set during winter so it defintely felt cozy and yet creepy at the same time....more

I loved absolutely everything about my first historical romance novel that I read! I loved that Wilhelmina was rebelling against her parents and society by seeking freedom from marriage and trying to join an all-male astronomy club. However, seeing as how this is a romance novel, what would it be without a romantic lead? Let me tell you my friends, that I absolutely adored Bram Townsend and his group of four friends who are all members of a book club and have known each other since they were orphans. They reminded me of another group of friends that I adore: The Three Musketeers! I loved that he was also a lawyer as well as I have a judge in my family myself. I absolutely loved how the relationship grows between the two characters and how they grow to accept each other and love one another. I always loved how Bram says that he sees Wilhelmina because it reminded me of Avatar. I loved the list that is included of all the men that Wilhelmina does not want to marry. However, I did not love the fact that Victor Hugo was included in this list and that she hates Les Miserables which is one of my absolutely favorite books of all time! I did however love the fact that she loves Frankenstein and attending the opera. ...more

I haveI absolutely loved absolutely everything about this book!! It’s an absolutely charming story and very heartwarming and heartfelt and wonderful! I have so many favorite characters and I love the found family aspect and the romance between Viv and Tandri. When I try to describe this book to people and I mentioned that it is about a female orc and a female succubus and then I mentioned how warm and cozy it made me feel they found it weird but I think that if people read the book they will experience the same feeling too! I love how creative all the characters are and this is definitely a coffee shop that I want to hang out in! I love how artistic and creative Tandri was in designing their signs for the shop and the rich and descriptive language she used to describe the items on the menu and I really wanted to try all of Thimble's pastries! This book also almost brought tears to my eyes so definitely have a box of tissues nearby! I hope more people discover this amazing book!...more

I'm a huge fan of season one of Netflix's Bridgerton, so you can imagine how happy I was to discover that this television show is based on a series of Regency romances. I absolutely adore Daphne Bridgerton and Simon Hastings and their passionate relationship. I loved Daphne's huge family. I loved Lady Whistledown and how no one knows who she is and her articles were fantastic. This book both made me laugh and brought me close to tears at different moments. However, if you come to the book expecting the television series, the book is far more hilarious and there are different plot points in the book....more
