I really loved almost everything about this book from the gothic elements to the unreliable young narrator to the dual timeline pov. I also love the diary part of the book as well. I love all of the characters and how most were morally grey. I love the Charles Dickens theme throughout the book as he happens to be one of my favorite authors. I of course love all the cats but I didn’t like it when one of the cats went missing.
However, I was surprisingly bothered by The Golden Bowl vibes even though that’s one of my favorite Henry James novels. So that’s why I’m unfortunately dnf’ing this book....more

I love the modern day setting at a boarding school! I love this book was ya and that it’s from Georgie Darcy’s point of view which we don’t get in the original classic Pride and Prejudice by the wonderful Jane Austen, so that was nice to see. I also love the Downton Abbey/Bridgerton show that Georgie wrote fanfic about. I love that there was a love interest that the author invented outside of the Jane Austen Universe. I also love that Georgie plays matchmaker like another heroine from Emma, also by Jane Austen! This book did bring up some tough topics such as: drugs, alcohol, absentee parent and not asking consent and forced kissing. Overall, I really love this book!...more
