Being an avid listener of Cal's wonderful podcast, Deep Questions with Cal Newport, I had been learning about the writing process and content of this book for a while - and I had a lot of excitement for it.
This book delves deeply into some big thinkers of our time (and especially the past) and what made them able to crank out many books, speeches, or careers in such a time. Surrounded with big thoughts and deep meanings, this book is quite a read!
I found it a little dryer at times than some of his books, but all-in-all it is a great and important book on focus and how to be careful about where we spend that focus, and time.

In full honesty - I picked up this book in human interest, as there was recent news that shed some light into the lab leaks of COVID-19 and coincidently, around the same time, I heard about this author speaking about it (on The Jordan Harbinger Show Podcast).
I found this book incredibly insightful, well-written, and also downright scary at times!
Young is an excellent author, who really was able to pack a ton of information into this big book!
I learned a lot, and it really helped me stay informed with the recent news. I am glad I picked it up.

This was a very good book on various Japanese customs and cultural beliefs.
I thought it was a very interesting book and got a lot out of it.
I do have to say as a Christian myself, a lot of the spiritual and buddhist practices detailed in this book do not exactly follow my own personal beliefs. But, that being, said I was still able to enjoy the meaning behind the chapters and was able to better understand the art of balance in Japanese society.
I also like how the book detailed some of the meanings and literal descriptions of what various sayings are in Japanese and their origin.
I really appreciate her candid writing too. As sI Loved It
I absolutely love this book!
Very heartfelt and warm.
Love Amy's writing.
A truly moving book.
I really appreciate her candid writing too. As someone who also has ADD as Amy does, I really appreciate the way she writes about ADD complications, but also the gifts you have as someone with ADD.
Highly recommended reading! My favorite book of hers.
