the world building based on Persian mythology is this book was so interesting. Alizeh is a jin and because of this she’s forced to hide her identity, along with some secrets she withholds about her where she comes from. Kamran is the prince of Ardunia and finds himself infatuated with Alizeh, despite everything working against his wishes to pursue her. the writing is beautiful and i enjoyed the story but i must admit that i feel like not much happened until the last quarter. i know this series has multiple books though, so im looking forward to getting more movement in the plot and im so curious about Cyrus after that ending ...more

a cute little story of love, family and connection told through the mc Vic and his robot companions. i liked Hap and Nurse Ratched, i know Rambo is a fan fav but i found him annoying (hugely due to the narration lol). i actually was interested in the world building and what had happened to the Earth that caused it to be taken over by robots with no other humans in sight. im a little disappointed i didn’t love this one but i just didn’t feel no strong connection to the characters unfortunately....more

“But as with all things that promise the moon and the stars and offer hope when hope has gone, the tale comes with a warning. Every wish demands a price.”
Dragonfruit was such a breath of fresh air to read. from the island setting, to the sea dragons and tattoo magic — all of it felt unique. the only obvious comparison would be to Moana, but even then this stood well on its own . i loved having the audio in tandem with the physical book since it enhanced my experience (and helped with some pronunciation of words in this book lol). the only thing i wished was different is the ending cause it felt a bit .. anticlimactic? but then again maybe it was meant to be a more calm story overall.

Sam is a scientist and skeptic but when she returns to her childhood home she starts to notice some uncanny occurrences around the house. her grandmother was a racist and a bit of a strange person altogether and after her death, Sam starts to worry over her mother staying there. although this book has horror undertones T. Kingfisher’s humor shines through and i had a fun time listening to the audiobook. there were definitely a few scenes that made me squirm a bit, but the main focus of the story is about generational issues passed on through families and how it presents itself. i’ll probably never look at roses or vultures the same way again lol....more

i loved the eerie atmosphere of this book and the beginning section was so engaging as the main character Jack tries to find out what happened in this secretive little village. but as the story progressed i found myself starting to check out a bit and i wasn’t the biggest fan of the choices the author made with the reveals in the end. i don’t think this is a bad book, but its not the most memorable either unfortunately....more

”The only private spaces we have are inside our own minds. The thoughts we conceal from one another. From ourselves.”
while aboard an exclusive cruise liner named the Atlantica, the main character Caz wakes up to find that she’s all alone. as she tries to survive being stranded in the middle of the ocean things are slowly revealed as to why she’s been left there and if she truly is the only one left abandoned. anything said further than this would be a spoiler, so I’ll keep this review short. i think i had too big expectations for this book cause i wasn’t really that impressed with the twists in this story and the ending was sort of open ended which i tend not to like. this was an interesting read tho and it did hold my attention....more

Celia wakes up in a house she doesn’t recognize with a husband and daughter she doesn’t know. Allie goes camping to a cabin in the woods with her friends, only to get stalked by a man lurking outside their door. Maggie will do anything to get her daughter Paige back and in this case that means completing a deadly maze obstacle course. i thought the execution of this thriller was both unique and entertaining. Celia, Allie and Maggie situations are all different but they do share one thing in common .. that strong feeling that something is just a little bit off.
“People are never what you see on the surface. There’s always a secret heart with a fortress around it, a hideout for their smallest and truest selves, the piece that they never show anybody else.”
this book is the definition of a popcorn thriller and i mean that as a compliment. i loved having each perspective and i was desperate to know what or who was behind these strange scenarios. the ending and reveals were kinda over the top but i was honestly living for it. i will always champion a “good for her” narrative and i had the best time listening to the audio....more

after getting on his father Zeus’ bad side, Apollo is cast down to earth and turned into a mortal. i expected to hate this since i’ve heard bad things and i already knew the twist ending, but surprisingly this wasn’t horrible. the fmc Jules is not the smartest but that’s nothing new in a thriller lol. the setting being mostly in one location (the Bartholomew Hotel) didn’t bother me much either. i can definitely see the patterns Riley Sager has now especially in relation to the love interests, but overall this was just ok.. definitely not the best of his books but certainly not the worst....more

Saints Blood has the Greatcoats once again trying to save the city of Tristia— this time saints are turning up dead. they’re found with a strange mask over their face that causes the saints to go mad. Falcio, Kest and Brasti are doing their best to help Aline in her ascension to the throne but with the inquisition pushing back against her rule, this proves to be easier said than done.
“I walked over and hugged him, knowing it would only make things worse for him. I don’t get that many chances to torture Brasti.”
this book was a whole damn experience to read for real. soooo much happened within these pages that felt integral to the plot and placing these characters where they need to be in order to wrap it all up in the next book. these characters are just so special to me and everything Kest went through in this one felt like a personal attack. i love when enemies turn allies and that was a big focus in this book as well.. im scared for the finale now, my favs better make it through! ...more

”Words matter. Without words you can't have stories and without stories we would never have heard of the Greatcoats.”
after the events of Traitor’s Blade, Falcio is left scrambling to warn and take a stand against what’s gearing up to be a full on war. there’s more politics in this one but the characters remain my biggest highlight.. words just can’t describe how much i adore the camaraderie between Kest, Falcio and Brasti. there’s something so satisfying about getting a deeper look into each of them as individuals since they’re all dealing with their own inner struggles while trying to honor their code as Greatcoats.. Falcio’s ailment lended him space to show more of his compassionate side, while strong willed Kest is slowly losing control and Brasti just continues being as hilarious as ever.
“We stood in the room and locked eyes and without having to speak it aloud, shared a single silent promise: if the world is going to fall apart, then we’ll go down with it. Fighting.”
this book was so insanely action packed and fast paced, there was always something going on in the background. i caught myself rewinding the audiobook a few times out of shock from a couple reveals that blind sided me too. now that im even more obsessed with these characters my heart rate is through the roof at the possible turns the plot can take.. what a great follow up to a series that’s quickly becoming a comfort read!...more

after how the last book ended i was curious to see how the town would recover and i did get the answers i was looking for. i’d say this book is the most action packed and there’s a lot of carnage. but over the course of books 2 and 3 i lost interest in Ethan and his family specifically cause they became very unlikable with their relationship drama. so while i did enjoy seeing how everything wrapped up i can’t say i cared about the characters directly. the decision to make this a series felt unnecessary cause i don’t think the plot itself warranted being stretched out like it was....more
