The illustrations are beautiful and stunning. I highly recommend reading the physical book. It's kind of like a Wikipedia for dragons, which was quite fun!

As the book already existed I also had a digital copy while listening to it, there are many characters to keep track of. It was odd that through the first half of it, I had no idea what was going on except George Smiley moving around, sitting here and there, and having conversations. The funny thing is I watched the movie years ago... I had a fragile view of the story and It was good otherwise I would know what was going on at the end of it.
“There are always a dozen reasons for doing nothing,”—“There is only one reason for doing something. And that’s because you want to.” Or have to?
I mean I have no complaints. I will read other books in George Smiley Series, John le Carré writing style is different, and beyond that, we should know this is not a thriller spy book, or crime, or anything of that sort... Yes, there are spies, twists, lies, betrayals, and more of them all, it's about people, the psychological point of view of people.
“I refuse to bequeath my life’s work to a parade horse. I’m too vain to be flattered, too old to be ambitious, and I’m ugly as a crab. Percy’s quite the other way and there are enough witty men in Whitehall to prefer his sort to mine.”...more

Vincent van Gogh's entire life from birth to death, his love affair and career, his mental health and family in pictures, although I think the illustrations could be less simple, for sure its contents aren't for young readers, so I expect the arts weren't too.

I was always fascinated by retellings of known stories, traveling to the familiar places told from another perspective, other authors understanding.
This time is about The Aeneid by Virgil: Aeneas, son of Aphrodite, from three women's points of view of his life.
Kreousa, his first wife and mother of his son, tells Aeneas in the time of the Trojan War. She was the daughter of Priam and Hecuba.
Dido and the story of Aeneas's voyage to Carthage.
Lavinia, the main narrator of this book, tells the conclusion of this journey to Italy.
I think Laura Shepperson was more touching in her second myth story, but still I wish there were more details about the characters' relationships and perhaps more about the Trojan War and its impact.

Chrissy, Myrna and Leonie seek to avenge their dear friend Fern from eight men, or nine...
The story is too short and I can't say much without spoiling it. What can I say, except likable quick read?
This very much reminds me of Atwood's The Robber Bride, but there is no complaint, I am a very longtime her reader...

Sophia works as a nurse in her father's hospital, and after her mother's death, she decides to join the convent to help children find safety secretly, something their parents couldn't do. This is heartwarming and like all war historical heartbreaking and shows the terror that war brings to everyone. The book is a short story, about 7 hours, and is engaging enough to finish in one day.
