she never cared for the crown
she preferred a sword”

“there are stars you
haven't seen
and loves you haven't loved
there's light you haven't felt

and nights you won't forget
and flowers yet to grow
and there is more to you
that you have yet to
know.”

“THE DANCE OF ANGELS

Suzy Kassem

He spins and spins and spins
To remove all three layers of him
And with devout discipline
He spirals to ignite the light within.
He becomes a part
Of the solar system
And spirals to its cosmic hymn.
His soul transcends through
The mouth of God
To join the source
Of everything.

He turns and turns and turns
To open up windows to the universe
And with each circle of love he twirls
The love in his heart
Radiates and bursts.
His thirst for a meeting with the divine
Has been his only quest since birth,
And while rotating like the hand of time
He sings the 'AH' of an angel's verse.
As he turns and turns and turns
A million emotions and vibrations submerge
A luminous spectacle worth a million candles,
The Sufi dancer is poetry without
Words.

THE DANCE OF ANGELS by Suzy Kassem”
Suzy Kassem, Rise Up and Salute the Sun: The Writings of Suzy Kassem

“Numb to the words you have left heavy on my skin.
Dipped with malice and edged with regret, it's within these shadows you have sanctioned my death.
And how naive to once think us equal pillars, when really you were my soul killer. No noble knight, no sheltered haven. Just another devil casting mayhem.”
A.Y. Greyson, Midnight Fog

“Crossing lines that can never be uncrossed.
Clangoring out words that can never be forgot.
Leaving welts behind with their lashing tongues.
Caring not of the unsaintly bell they have rung.
Oh, bitter hearts of selfish minds
You know not the poison you leave behind.”
A.Y. Greyson

Pierce Smith
“Why does the wrong feel so good?
So tempting, so alluring
So inciting, so sinful”
Pierce Smith, Bait

“He who creates a poison, also has the cure.
He who creates a virus, also has the antidote.
He who creates chaos, also has the ability to create peace.
He who sparks hate, also has the ability to transform it to love.
He who creates misery, also has the ability to destroy it with kindness.
He who creates sadness, also has the ability to to convert it to happiness.
He who creates darkness, can also be awakened to produce illumination.
He who spreads fear, can also be shaken to spread comfort.
Any problems created by the left hand of man,
Can also be solved with the right,
For he who manifests anything,
Also has the ability to
Destroy it.

IN THE HANDS OF MAN by Suzy Kassem”
Suzy Kassem, Rise Up and Salute the Sun: The Writings of Suzy Kassem

“Damask roses and white picket fences,
a childhood ripe with an array of senses.
Forest black against starry skies,
Pink clouds dusting an early sunrise.
Hundreds of days slipping through hourglass years.
The sands of adolescence fading with solemn tears.
Oceans of certainty ebbing away,
Lessons learned regardless of one's place.”
A.Y. Greyson, Midnight Fog

“When your heart is broken you plant seeds in the cracks
and you pray for rain.
And you teach your sons and daughters
there are sharks in the water
but the only way to survive
is to breathe deep
and dive.”
Andrea Gibson, Pole Dancing to Gospel Hymns

Angela Colleen Pucetas

My darling, just let it go.”

When would you find me?”
Pierce Smith, Bait

Laurence Overmire
“Poetry is not life. Life is poetry.”
Laurence Overmire, New York Minute: An Actor's Memoir

“You once told me
You wanted to find
Yourself in the world -
And I told you to
First apply within,
To discover the world
within you.

You once told me
You wanted to save
The world from all its wars -
And I told you to
First save yourself
From the world,
And all the wars
You put yourself
Through.

APPLY WITHIN by Suzy Kassem”
Suzy Kassem, Rise Up and Salute the Sun: The Writings of Suzy Kassem

“You are not white,
but a rainbow of colors.
You are not black,
but golden.
You are not just a nationality,
but a citizen of the world.
You are not just for the right or left,
but for what is right over the wrong.
You are not just rich or poor,
but always wealthy in the mind and heart.
You are not perfect, but flawed.
You are flawed, but you are just.
You may just be a conscious human,
but you are also a magnificent
reflection of God.

Suzy Kassem, Rise Up and Salute the Sun: The Writings of Suzy Kassem

“You have no control over
how your story begins or ends.
But by now, you should know that
all things have an ending.
Every spark returns to darkness.
Every sound returns to silence.
Every flower returns to sleep
with the earth.
The journey of the sun
and moon is predictable. But yours,
is your ultimate
ART.”
Suzy Kassem, Rise Up and Salute the Sun: The Writings of Suzy Kassem

“Truth is not a thing
Or a concept.
It is as multidimensional
In its meaning
As it is in its reflection.
It is both invisible
And visible.
It carries tons of weight,
But can be carried.
It is understood first through the spirit
Before science,
And felt in the heart,
Before the mind.
Truth is not always heard by reason,
Because reason sometimes
Ignores Truth.

Always listen to your conscience.
Your conscience is your heart
And reason is your mind.
Your mind is simply there to reason
With your heart.
But remember,
Truth is in your heart,
And only through your heart
Can you connect to the light of God.
He who is not motivated by his heart
Will not see Truth,
And he who thinks only with his mind
Will be blind to Truth.
He who does not think
With his conscience,
Does not stand by God,
For the language of light
Can only be decoded by the heart.
He who reads and recites words of God
Also does not stand by God –
If he merely understands
Words with his mind
But not his heart.

Truth is black and white,
And the entire spectrum
Of colors in-between.
It can have many parts,
But has a solid foundation.
Truth lacks perfection,
For it is the reflection of all,
Yet its reflection as a whole,
Is more beautiful
Than the accumulated flaws
Of the small.
Truth is the only brand
Worth breathing
And believing.
So stand for truth
In everything you do,
And only then
Does your life have
Meaning.

WHAT IS TRUTH? by Suzy Kassem”

“The editor wants something a little more oblique, a little less opaque. Let the reader watch you / dissolve.”

“Questa vita è un naufrago infelice
che s’illude ch’ogni nave sia tu.
Sulle sponde che sol tu conosci
attende che la tua mente risorga."

“In this forest called life, sometimes there are no goodbyes, no proper sendoffs, no wishing for a next time; just the knowledge that this departure will never be set right.”
A.Y. Greyson

“Sometimes we need to remove ourselves. To occasionally stand away from the noise. To silence the chatter that never sleeps. To take a moment from the voices that never really speak.”
A.Y. Greyson

“What’s there to find in a broken heart
if not assembled pieces of love for a pristine start
What’s there to see behind the curtain
only things that you don’t know for certain”
Munia Khan
