Not the best installment in the series so far (there’s way too much romantic crap stuff for my taste 🙈🙈) but still entertaining as fish. Besides, a 34-year-old (aka positively ancient, by UF standards) half-dwarf, half-Samoan hammer-wielding female MC + hahahahaha + scrumptious cast of secondary characters + dragon relaxation zones + goblinators =

Well, we kind of now have a definitive answer as to whether Sarrlevi is trustworthy or not. The problem is the answer: kind of. I won’t spoil it.
I am just as upset as Matti that other people are getting more action from Sarrlevi than she is. Thank goodness he didn’t follow through with his plan.
I’m kind of sad that Lindsay missed the opportunity to go into detail on enchantment magic with Matti and Santiago. She has a way of writing that keeps me hooked, but similarly to ‘A Wolf in the Woods,’ skips out a lot on the interesting parts of the world.
I mean, Matti barely used the ‘return’ word for her hammer that she learned last book. We didn’t even get hammer magic. I was so excited to see more signs of life or a name reveal! Sigh.
At least book four is coming out in two weeks ish so it’s not too long a wait. I was getting really worried at 75% and we still had no leads on finding her mom nor much progress with her aunt. Is it weird that I find Zavryd and Sarrlevi’s insta-heal a little too convenient? Sigh. Makes me want to re-read Magic Bleeds for a more action packed, magical, aunt vs niece battle. I was just kind of disappointed by the execution. Until next time.

SO…. If one can put aside the extreme similarities between this series and the Death Before Dragon series by this same author, this story is all kinds of fun, snark and action encompassed in the very best of friends and relationship reading!

I see no development from our FMC, she is still a weak-not-so-weak character. She tries but doesn't. C'mon, somebody teach the girl something. I get it that maybe the author wanted her to be different from Val (Death Before Dragons), but she is bullying her character at this point and doesn't help her for shit. Not to mention, gives her this stupid puppy love to the I'm-going-to-sleep-with-everyone-including-your-family-except-for-you-and-betray-you-by-trying-to-kill-your-mom kind of man. At least he knows how to be consistently trashy. I really HOPE she doesn't end up with him (I know is futile but still), she doesn't even really know him that much and I think 3 books is enough of crawling for undeserving love interests, let her love herself a little. Give her a fullfiling job, get her to fight her grandpa even, learn some new technique, dunno, something.

The evil aunt shows up and is causing trouble for Matti. The hunt for Matti’s mom is on going, with many twists and turns.
Matti’s antics and investigation have put her on the radar of some powerful people. Her parents are missing and an unknown group is keeping them captive. The storyline is progressing, but slowly. We do get some questions answered, but still many questions left to answer.
The romance in this novel does progress. Sarrlevi is starting to treat Matti with respect, but I’m still conflicted on Sarrlevi and Matti’s romance. I’m a bit bummed that Matti still doesn’t know any magic on her hammer and I’m hoping that gets fixed.
I do adore the world and having Val and her mate pop in and out. I also like the verity of supernaturals we are treated too from goblins to vampires to trolls, etc..
Trolled is an action packed fast paced read that I enjoyed. I’m looking forward to reading on.

A very good book, despite being slower, does move the story along and develops more relationships between the characters. Because of the slower pace of the book, I wanted to give it 4.5 stars, but the character development and action towards the end of the book definitely deserved a round up.
Matti antics and investigation have put her on the radar of some very powerful enemies. Not least her aunt Barothla. Who apart from her physical prowess wealds both magical and political powers.
This was not my favourite book in the series so far, but I liked the start of the levelling up process. There are not enough answers on the shadow conspiracy, but I am sure that is coming. It is a great mix of magic and great characters. I definitely want to see what happens next.

Overall impression: as much as I love the premise of this series, I couldn't rate Trolled 5 stars because the storyline is progressing way too slowly. Matti's parents are still missing and there's still an unknown group keeping them captive - so really, nothing has changed since book 1. The fight scenes were getting to be very repetitive and it almost felt like a filler book. The only saving grace was that there was some progression with the romance side of things and Sarrlevi is starting to treat Matti with respect.

I adore this universe - I have since Val first burst onto the page. I am debating which FMC I like best, Matti or Val, as they are both fantastic in different ways.

I am rereading this book in order to write a better review. The book is as entertaining as the previous. I doubt that anyone will read my opinion, still it feels good to be able to express appreciation of a writer who has done a fair job. To encourage myself to write on this splendidly toxic site, I must now watch YouTube. The world has expanded again with the political divisions of the magic heavy worlds encroaching steadily on Earth. I feel that I have learned something of how world building is done through the eyes of a major character.
The trolls are given more definition in this book, which brings Matti's partner into the story as a major character. They seem to be construction building specialists. The goblins are shown as inventive as well as entrepreneurial. Matti's roommate also moved closer to the centre of the action. The vampire is seen in a somewhat sympathetic light and factors into the plot directly. I had hoped to see more of the vampire culture and their relationship to other magical cultures but that might have been too much detail at that point. That absence also did not detract from the story, so no complaints.
There is another interesting aspect of the series background, the absence of civilian authority. It was noticeable but almost reasonable in the first book and easily overlooked against the background of discovery, undefined dangers and the otherworldly disruption of the main character's life.
It becomes a more visible absence in the second book. There is no interaction with a local, state or federal agency other than the US Army. The local government are only referenced as police interest to be avoided, if at all possible. The U.S. military continues to be the only governmental representation and there are no checks on their actions. This represents an accurate portrayal of American society from the point of view of all marginalized groups in the neoliberal universe. I am not sure whether that was intentional.
The only worthy governmental functions in the libertarian and liberal circles are those of the police and the military. The police and the legal system together pose as fair arbiters in a healthy society, while actually existing only to maintain a safe environment for the upper classes. The marginalized are perfect targets as examples of the consequences of discontent. The more socially acceptable minority are kept in fear of losing that status. The military's omnipresence in the lives of the magical community is not questioned and their life and death power over the magical with no checks, parallels their behavior in overseas occupations. The magical exist but their citizenship status is fluid and in the end they have no rights. The military has become the police force responsible for this community. 🙂
The reporting of the number of celebrated murders of black Americans was less than subtle but served as a reminder of the consequences of questioning the state's application of their monopoly on sanctioned violence. The abuse, torture or murder of other nonwhites was pointedly absent from liberal american media. The fear generated by that framing, was made even more clear by the number of white protesters whose deaths were reported with no consequences to the police (in Democratic Party controlled municipalities) and that federal agents were deployed to Washington State (by the Republican President) authorized to detain white residents without cause or justification and with no liberal outcry. 🤔
This series was a welcome portrayal of the extreme militarism of the society and the return of the publicly supported brutality of external actions to the home country. As can be seen from a scan of Internet headlines the process is well underway and will no doubt be celebrated as an expression of liberal democracy. The soldiers are hardly enlightened nor are they overburdened with morality.
Britain's government are racing headlong into the same darkness and much like America are managing a citizenry in denial. The current societal sickness in Britain and lack of urgency in those opposing this development probably is best described by the phrase "It can not happen here".

While I like this series' world building as compared to most of the current low end science fiction, neither it nor the prose is award winning. There seem only the three categories, No Effort, Insulting and Abhorrent in science fiction print to describe bulk of the genre. The low end urban fantasy is really mis-labeled paranormal romance and this book is no exception. I now watch my fiction more than read. The streaming services and YouTube shorts channels DUST and Omeleto are a good source for science fiction that is entertaining. I have not seen much urban fantasy in English language video and classic fantasy is often ridiculous. I am not sure why that is.
I only began using YouTube about two years ago in my search for science fiction recommendations. I was delighted to find many of those channels, as well as the educational, comedy, essayist and reality channels. My final and best find was the book channel. 😍 These are wonderful communities of thoughtful readers who are in love with all bookish things. I recommend a visit to several book channels for any reader and have listed some below. I found the educational video sites through sponsor spots on YouTube educational channels. Nebula, Skill Share and Wondrium are a sample. I think that all of these sites are worth a look.
This Goodreads site is toxic in the science fiction section of the membership. Most low end US science fiction is incredibly racist both intentionally and proudly. This is labelled openly by many of the male fans as libertarian fiction in comment and their few reviews. Make of that what you will. That might explain the nasty and sometimes vile comments from the fans. I have seen comments on negative reviews from female readers of science fiction, ranging from "shut up and enjoy the book" through suggesting the review resulted from anal rape. Compared to those, comments on mine and the reviews of other male readers seem mild. It is not uncommon to see a one star review receive a page of short nasty comments.
I wrote a very short review about 18 months ago of Powers of the Earth, an unremarkable, poorly written libertarian salute to the January 6, 2021 hero by Travis Corcoran who is a self-described Libertarian, advocate of the deportation of "rich blacks" to Brazil (?) and a return of chattel slavery for the remainder of black Americans and supporter of Putin's Russia - of course, a US veteran and employee of an unnamed US agency.
I was harassed for months by a Claes Rees, Jr/cgr710, Travis Corcoran/JP and their friends on my mild negative review. My revised review now in need of an update saw my commenter cloud disappear with the exception of Claes Rees Jr/cgr710 who declared that They had "won" (?).
Their concept of literary discourse consisted of a deluge of vile sexual and racist comments, aimed at creators of channels I mentioned. A number of the channels actually mentioned this campaign. The Oxford Astrophysicist, solo boaters, Swedish essayist and the many other female creators were not impressed but the image of the twisted American man-child and their typical "Cancel Campaign" has certainly become clearer to a broad multinational audience. Those mental Goodreads male members also successfully added to the world's overabundance of fear and unpleasantness. USA. Yay ??

Ominous music begins. 🙂 The nastiness often is delivered in little packs, which I affectionately refer to as comment clouds. You need only scan the few one star reviews of the trashiest titles for some entertaining reads. I have seen pages of comments on mine and others' reviews. These are thuggish, entitled and seem to come in two flavours. They think themselves middle class or are behaving as they imagine the middle class might. They also seem to have claimed the genre for themselves and usually imply or state that They speak for all Goodreads (or at least the American) members. Perhaps they do, as I noticed almost no blowback to those comments.
From their YouTube comments, their Goodreads comments and their very occasional reviews, They are offended by Brown faces on the screen and mixed ethnicity gatherings on film. I refuse to imagine their real world reactions. This may be a significant segment of American science fiction readers and they would have you believe that. I have no idea nor interest in attempting that research. That would explain the publisher preference for the current low end US science fiction standards of poor writing, racism, no editing, sexism and general anti-working class themes.
For details of the direct Amazon/Goodreads harassment, see my review of "Dark Horse", a good novel by Diener, Marine by Dalzelle or Powers of the Earth by Corcoran. The site released information to these others and certain people attempted to investigate my private life. That involved Australian Intelligence as a favour to a US agency through Pine Gap Centre. I never imagined myself that important but rather than flattered, I am angry for some reason. 😊
Hopefully you will never draw the ire of mental man-children but given that your status is dependent on their whims some precautions might be in order. I would suggest minimizing profile information, deleting lurkers (those friends who monitor but never post), being careful using Goodreads messaging and screenshotting the odd or ugly. A counter comment to these thugs along the lines of their seeking mental health treatment, might remind them that they do not speak for you. Ominous music ends. 🙂

The fear generated by that framing, was made even more clear by the number of white protesters whose deaths were reported with no consequences to the police (in Democratic Party controlled municipalities) and that federal agents were deployed to Washington State (by the Republican President) authorized to detain white residents without cause or justification and with no liberal outcry. 🤔
This series was a welcome portrayal of the extreme militarism of the society and the return of the publicly supported brutality of external actions to the home country. As can be seen from a scan of Internet headlines the process is well underway and will no doubt be celebrated as an expression of liberal democracy. The soldiers are hardly enlightened nor are they overburdened with morality.
Britain's government are racing headlong into the same darkness and much like America are managing a citizenry in denial. The current societal sickness in Britain and lack of urgency in those opposing this development probably is best described by the phrase "It can not happen here".

While I like this series' world building as compared to most of the current low end science fiction, neither it nor the prose is award winning. There seem only the three categories, No Effort, Insulting and Abhorrent in science fiction print to describe bulk of the genre. The low end urban fantasy is really mis-labeled paranormal romance and this book is no exception. I now watch my fiction more than read. The streaming services and YouTube shorts channels DUST and Omeleto are a good source for science fiction that is entertaining. I have not seen much urban fantasy in English language video and classic fantasy is often ridiculous. I am not sure why that is.
I only began using YouTube about two years ago in my search for science fiction recommendations. I was delighted to find many of those channels, as well as the educational, comedy, essayist and reality channels. My final and best find was the book channel. 😍 These are wonderful communities of thoughtful readers who are in love with all bookish things. I recommend a visit to several book channels for any reader and have listed some below. I found the educational video sites through sponsor spots on YouTube educational channels. Nebula, Skill Share and Wondrium are a sample. I think that all of these sites are worth a look.
This Goodreads site is toxic in the science fiction section of the membership. Most low end US science fiction is incredibly racist both intentionally and proudly. This is labelled openly by many of the male fans as libertarian fiction in comment and their few reviews. Make of that what you will. That might explain the nasty and sometimes vile comments from the fans. I have seen comments on negative reviews from female readers of science fiction, ranging from "shut up and enjoy the book" through suggesting the review resulted from anal rape. Compared to those, comments on mine and the reviews of other male readers seem mild. It is not uncommon to see a one star review receive a page of short nasty comments.
I wrote a very short review about 18 months ago of Powers of the Earth, an unremarkable, poorly written libertarian salute to the January 6, 2021 hero by Travis Corcoran who is a self-described Libertarian, advocate of the deportation of "rich blacks" to Brazil (?) and a return of chattel slavery for the remainder of black Americans and supporter of Putin's Russia - of course, a US veteran and employee of an unnamed US agency.
I was harassed for months by a Claes Rees, Jr/cgr710, Travis Corcoran/JP and their friends on my mild negative review. My revised review now in need of an update saw my commenter cloud disappear with the exception of Claes Rees Jr/cgr710 who declared that They had "won" (?).
Their concept of literary discourse consisted of a deluge of vile sexual and racist comments, aimed at creators of channels I mentioned. A number of the channels actually mentioned this campaign. The Oxford Astrophysicist, solo boaters, Swedish essayist and the many other female creators were not impressed but the image of the twisted American man-child and their typical "Cancel Campaign" has certainly become clearer to a broad multinational audience. Those mental Goodreads male members also successfully added to the world's overabundance of fear and unpleasantness. USA. Yay ??

Ominous music begins. 🙂 The nastiness often is delivered in little packs, which I affectionately refer to as comment clouds. You need only scan the few one star reviews of the trashiest titles for some entertaining reads. I have seen pages of comments on mine and others' reviews. These are thuggish, entitled and seem to come in two flavours. They think themselves middle class or are behaving as they imagine the middle class might. They also seem to have claimed the genre for themselves and usually imply or state that They speak for all Goodreads (or at least the American) members. Perhaps they do, as I noticed almost no blowback to those comments.
From their YouTube comments, their Goodreads comments and their very occasional reviews, They are offended by Brown faces on the screen and mixed ethnicity gatherings on film. I refuse to imagine their real world reactions. This may be a significant segment of American science fiction readers and they would have you believe that. I have no idea nor interest in attempting that research. That would explain the publisher preference for the current low end US science fiction standards of poor writing, racism, no editing, sexism and general anti-working class themes.
For details of the direct Amazon/Goodreads harassment, see my review of "Dark Horse", a good novel by Diener, Marine by Dalzelle or Powers of the Earth by Corcoran. The site released information to these others and certain people attempted to investigate my private life. That involved Australian Intelligence as a favour to a US agency through Pine Gap Centre. Hopefully you will never draw the ire of mental man-children but given that your status is dependent on their whims some precautions might be in order. I would suggest minimizing profile information, deleting lurkers (those friends who monitor but never post), being careful using Goodreads messaging and screenshotting the odd or ugly. A counter comment to these thugs along the lines of their seeking mental health treatment, might remind them that they do not speak for you. Ominous music ends. 🙂

I started Trolled right after Betrayed as I wanted to continue the series. Trolled is a solid third book in the series, this one mainly continues the main plot as well as a few plot lines that get mostly resolved in this book. There are some interesting developments regarding the main plot line and I like the continuity this series has with a strong ongoing main plot, but each book still feeling like a whole book and resolves some things.
Trolled has plenty of action and things going on as usual for Lindsay Buroker's books. There are still enemies after Matti's hammer and now her aunt has heard of her existence and is coming after her hammer too. Then there is Matti's plan to speak to her father, but she has to break into a prison to do that. Luckily Sarrlevi is there to help her. And then there is Matti's hammer and her magic that she's trying to learn more about, which is interesting.
The romance also continues, but it's a pretty slow burn. In fact I wished things sped up more. I feel like each book brings them closer, but Matti still keeps doubting Sarrlevi and whether she can trust him. Not without reason, but still it bothers me. I am getting at the point where I wish I could lock these two up together so they can resolve things and talk things through. Nevertheless I do feel like the romance is going somewhere and there are some new truths about Sarrlevi and some interesting reveals and hints as well. There are so many sweet little gestures as well as large gestures Sarrlevi makes, which to me makes it obvious how much he cared about Matti. I like them together, but just wish these doubts Matti has will get addressed and resolved. I definitely look forward to seeing them as a couple.
There also is more of Val as well as other characters from the first series. This is a spin-off with very heavy cross over and lots of recurring characters from the first series and I really like this. In this book there's more of the vampire alchemist and Val's half sister as well as more of Val and Zav ofcourse. Besides that Tinga and Abass, Matti's friends, also make appearances as well.
To summarize: This was another solid read in this series. I listened to this one in audio and the narrator is awesome. There is plenty going on in this book with the ongoing main plot continuing as well as some plot lines related to the main plot line that get mostly resolved in this book. There's plenty of action and danger and banter ofcourse. I like seeing Matti and Sarrlevi grow closer, but am getting a bit frustrated with how Matti still doubts whether she can trust Sarrlevi. This is not without reason, but I just wish they would talk things through instead. There are some great scenes with Sarrlevi and Matti and some sweet gestures both small and big Sarrlevi does for Matti. I just look forward to seeing them as a couple and having these doubts resolved as the back and forth is frustrating me. It was fun seeing more of Val and Zav as well as Val's half sister and the vampire alchemist. There's more of Abass and Tinga, Matti's friends, as well.

Overall this series was ok. It was well written and had a pretty decent plot. The characters were all mostly Likeable, if not a bit generic.
My problem with this book mostly lay with the two leads -this being a romance book and all. The dynamic between the FMC and the MMC made me cringe. And if I’m cringing then I can’t enjoy it, and if I’m not enjoying it the romance then why am I reading a romance?
The FMC was too vulnerable and open compared to the MMC. It was clear from minuet one that she was attracted to him, and he looked down on her for her species. He was always giving her ‘knowing smirks’ when she thought or reacted to his attractiveness, because on he could read her mind! Yes, he could read her mind whilst he remained mysterious and his motivations unclear. Which leads me onto my second point.
The heroes motivations throughout the books remains murky and dubious. And despite the heroine being suspicious of this, being warned of this and sometimes even seeing evidence of it she remained open and easily manipulated. She was so touch starved and unused to male approval that she always wanted to touch him and was constantly seeking validation From him, and I just couldn’t. Anyway, all in all not a bad book just a underwhelming cringe pairing.

Basic Plot: The hunt for Matti's mother continues, with many twists and turns.
Overall, these books are fun popcorn reads. Not a lot of substance, but still somehow satisfying. Matti and Sarrlevi talk a bit more and we gain a little more insight into his life. Matti's aunt makes a few appearances, and Matti's hammer seems to be waking up a bit. Overall, a fun ride.

Poor Maati. She went through so much in this book. She wants ro badly to trust in Saarlevi but things keep happening that make her doubt him. I will say that the ending did leave me some hope.

Edit: I will not be continuing the series. Looks like it ended up being 8 books but after this one I'm over it. While I am all for consenting adults enjoying sex, the way Buroker decided to handle sex in this series doesn't sit well with me.
I know she's a dwarf and therefore hardy, but she wears leggings while riding her motorcycle? And I'm confused on her strength, one minute she's saying she can't pick up the Harley if it falls to the ground (book 1) the next she's saying she can easily carry a grown muscled man over 6ft tall.
Again in this book (like the last) we see Sarrlevi making out with Matti after telling her he was going to have sex with her aunt to get her blood. And Matti not only being ok with it but wishing they hadn't been interrupted and had been able to have sex themselves. This aspect of the storyline is something that I intensely dislike and has no need to be in the story line. At least this particular time he was interrupted and (as far as we can tell) did not go have sex with her aunt but the point remains he was going to.
I'm torn on this series. I love Lindsay's other works but this one feels like it's moving really slowly compared to those, even if the books themselves feel fast-paced. A lot happens in each book while at the same time nothing happens to move the story forward. This is the third book in the series and Matti is no closer to finding either of her parents. Not to mention her mom has been a captive of some organization for the past 30 years and her dad has been locked in a cell so she spent her whole life being raised human and therefore has basically no control over her dwarven side. I also can't stand her sister and really want Matti to lay into her and tell her to back the heck off and quit putting her down and pressuring her just because she doesn't conform to her standards. Not everyone wants to get married and/or have kids and just because something makes you happy doesn't mean it will make someone else happy. If the author intends to show this then fine, but after three books Matti is still letting her sister push her around and goes along with whatever she says.
According to Freysha, Matti is incredibly powerful so I find it surprising that nothing has ever happened that she couldn't explain even though Val and Zav never said anything (Sarrlevi doesn't count since all his actions are questionable). I'm having a hard time being drawn into the exceedingly slow-burn between Sarrlevi and Matti too. He acts hot and cold toward her and she just accepts it while pining away for him at the same time as wondering if she can trust him. Short answer - he's an assassin looking out for his own best interests so no. Obviously Matti's aunt never cancelled the contract and Sarrlevi himself says she threatened him for not completing it - he is going to have to figure out what to do while he continues to play both sides. I have enjoyed learning more about his past and his things giving Matti memories of his good actions, basically all of his hits were horrible people no one would miss and it is a legal profession he pays dues to continue working yet everyone thinks he's deplorable and the dragons want to "rehabilitate" him by wiping his mind and inserting their ideals (I have never liked this aspect of this world).
I agree with Val that Sarrlevi may only be helping Matti's friends because he feels guilty about what he plans to do when they find her mother.
WHY, for the love of all things, has NO ONE taught Matti how to shield her mind?
After three books we still have more questions than answers and A LOT to wrap up in the final book. How did the government get ahold of Matti's mom in order for her to meet her dad? How did they not get the other dwarves she was with and why did the others not rescue her if she was their all important and powerful princess? What did the government want and what were they doing to her? How did this secret organization masquerading as the government find Matti's family when she was 4? Why did the government keep her father in a secret prison and try to erase his existence? What is this secret organization that has apparently been acting undetected for over 30 years and is using dwarf magic to better their weapons and power sources? What is the organization's end goal? What motivation did they use to make Matti's mom work for them? Why did they not go after the other two dwarves Matti's mom was working with? Where did the other two disappear to and why did they not want to help Matti? Why is Matti's aunt still alive and causing trouble instead of in dwarf prison? Will Sarrlevi EVER pick a side?

Matti's learning a little bit more about her magic, when she learns that some things made by Dwarven magic were sentient. This helps in her quest to find a cure for her roommate who accidentally drank a otle of poisoned wine meat from Matti. The battlles increase as does the violence as her Evil Aunt comes to earth to killher and take her magic hammer. A fantasy filled with the ever present battle of good against ad. This boook is fun and scary qt the same time. You'll love the magical beings fighting enchanted pieces make human helicopters that can fight a dragon. And the truth is still hard to find.

Book 3 and the skirmishes continue between magical beings as some with evil maniacal goals do their best and most brutal scheming. And the Ruth it all Matty’s relationship with the elvin assassin, Varlish, remains in question. This is a very engaging series making you want to read the next book as soon as you can, instead of getting bored with the same old same old. 👍👍👍🔮💜

I only wish I had read the previous series first, to better relish follow up glimpses of characters who are clearly awesome.

I laughed.. and I Cried
Each instalment surpasses the previous. This book was downright emotional for me. There were many moments that had me either laughing out loud, cringing with secondhand embarrassment, or crying with sadness and frustration. I can’t even say more because it is all too fresh and I have so many feelings about it all. I’m going to just dive into book 4 when it is released because I NEED answers like I need air.
** edit. I originally gave 5 stars but after some thought I’ve decided to go down to 3. I still love the series but I have some issues.
I do feel like this story is kind of spinning it’s tires and not really getting anywhere after 3 books is starting to get old. I also think that sarlvetti (pretty sure I spelled it wrong) has been ambiguous with his intentions for too long. If after all this time and everything they have been through together Matti still really can’t say she trusts him NOT TO KILL HER MOTHER!!! Then she’s falling into the foolish category. It’s not like she isn’t sure he won’t steal the covers or snore, it that he straight up might kill her mother. It’s too big of a thing to ignore and hope for the best. Especially when she knows she is severely outclassed by the assassin and has no hope of stopping him if he does try to kill her. Lindsay Buroker is a fantastic author who has created a wonderful world with great characters and I can’t wait for the next book. Hopefully things start to come together soon.

another exciting read
Y’all…I am rooting so dang hard for Matti and Serrlevi… I want to know/understand all that is going on. I wish I found this series after it was done, lol. But I’m totally invested in the characters and their wonderfully crazy world.

our girl has her work cut out for her
What I really appreciate is that Matti is severely outclassed. She has Earthly combat training, and a magical hammer that she’s learning to use better…but it is not easy for her to survive against a faceless military with magical upgrades, an aunt with serious magical & alchemical power, and the larger Cosmological politics that care little for her perspective. A little training montage with “eyes of the tiger” playing in the background is not going to cut it , and the writing backs it up.

Wonderful urban fantasy series
I am really enjoying this series! I love the magical world that the author has created that is nestled within our own, the humour she writes into her stories, all the interesting characters, an arrogant kind Assassin, a meat loving arrogant dragon, a small appliance destroying goblin roomate, etc, and of course Matti, a kickass, hammer wielding Dwarf Human! I am really enjoying being on this journey with Matti, i hope the author will allow Matti to find her mother alive, i can't wait to find out!

I cannot not wait to read the next book. I love Lindsay Buroker as a rule and this series so far hasn’t been a let down. Sexy Elvan assassin meets Sassy Half-Dwarf Badass with a Hammer? I am in. It reminded me of Emperor’s Edge but more Kindle Unlimited fantasy/women’s power goodness. I would definitely recommend, but WHAT HAPPENS NEXT? Is the assassin trustworthy or will Matti end up with an accountant who helps keep her small business up to tax code… I think I have an idea, but the wait is killing me already.

Awesome
This amazingly great read was as exceptional as I thought it would be. Because of Lindsay Buroker's talented treatment of the written word, I am not worried about someone NOT liking this new installment of her newest series "An Urban Fantasy Adventure." The action is nonstop with very short pauses for the characters to take a deep breath along with the reader. The snark is great and quite entertaining. I wish that I could come up with even a bit of it when out with my friends. LOL! Altogether enjoyable and I am on pins and needles longing for the next installment in this saga! Thank you, Lindsay, for making my leisure time so enjoyab!e!!

I love how the author is really not trying to make Sarrlevi the hero.
But it's so PAINFUL how Matti has to doubt all his actions 😭😭 I hope next book they can finally fully trust each other.

Didn’t want it to end
More hammer swinging against superior foes and even a bit of tingling romance kept my heart pounding and my finger flipping pages.
Zoltan made a major appearance so fans of his droll wit will be happy at that. And, as you can expect from the title, there were trolls who needed defeating.
Matti is a truly relatable shero with her quick temper and deep emotions. She deserves a happy ending so I’m ready for her to find her parents and learn all the secrets of her hammer.
The next book in the series can’t get here quickly enough.
