Even though this was part of a series it read as a stand alone book and I could easily pick up on the main characters in this book. I loved the fact it was set in Scotland and the descriptions of the characters, mountains and the weather were very vivid. The story was lovely and I definitely want to read the others in this series. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

Favorite Quotes:

The man handed over a brown envelope. ‘Burns Funeral Crematory Services.’ Grace cocked an eyebrow. She knew she was now in Scotland and Burns was a popular surname around these parts, but she wasn’t sure that was the best name to use for a crematory service, though it definitely did what it said on the tin – or the urn.

It’s on the calendar and when any mum writes anything on the calendar it’s law.

My Review:

This was an entertaining and easy-to-follow women’s fiction story set in a small village in Scotland with substantial currents of family drama and a gentle undercurrent of a budding sweet and light romance. The storylines flowed with humor as well as real-life issues for a struggling single mother of three young boys fleeing an abusive situation. The characters were endearing and the storylines and writing style were engaging and lively. While this is the seventh installment in a continuation of a series, it could easily be read as a standalone

I love the Love Heart series and it felt like coming home when Grace and her boys got off the bus at Heartcross.
Once again Christie Barlow has written an emotional and warm story with wonderful supportive characters. Seeing Isla and Allie again with their families, I loved how Grace and her little family were welcomed back by the community and were able to rebuild their lives once again.

Omg - 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲
A story about courage, determination, hardship and friendship.
Grace had very little and knew how to survive and still enjoy life but coming face to face with a celebrity who has never financially suffered - a story about how lives can be entwined by the sheer presence of kindness and a good heart. A wonderfully emotional well written book.

Thanks to netgalley and One More Chapter for the chance to read this book early. I've been loving the Love Heart Lane series and getting back to Heartcross and seeing the familiar characters, we all know and love, back again, honestly was the best thing I could have wanted.

This 7th instalment in the companion series is all about Grace and her 3 boys, needing to flee from a very abusive relationship and when she receives a letter from a solicitor in Heartcross, telling her about her inheritance of Heartcross Castle from her estranged grandfather, there's only one thing she can do to save her life and the life of her 3 children.

There are some wonderful characters, I challenge you not to fall in love with Billy, and you will be entertained from start to finish. A fabulous read and one that I highly recommend.

I found myself on a roll with crime books but couldn't resist requesting an advanced copy of the latest in Christie's wonderful Love Heart Lane series.

I mean, I was hooked immediately with 'castle' in the title! And I really wasn't let down, what a fantastic story. Grace, and her adorable 3 boys, Andrew, Hector and (almost) the whole cast from previous novels had me gulping this one down. Such a solid storyline, yes it was predictable - did I care? Hardly. Really likeable characters throughout and definitely one of my favourites from the series to date.

It is so wonderful to keep coming back to this most loving of communities. I had a soft spot for Grace and Andrew's story. You could read as a standalone but it really helps the enjoyment levels to know the cast of many characters and how they're linked from previous stories. Gosh I wish this village wasn't fictional - what I'd give to be a part of it!

4.5 stars and I'm so looking forward to the next instalment.

My many thanks to One More Chapter via Netgalley for allowing me to read this advanced copy which I have reviewed honestly.

I really enjoy this series from Christie Barlow. The writing flows easily and reading about the locals is enjoyable. This book had a slightly darker theme than the rest of the series, but the focus wasn’t on that so it worked out in the end.

I’m not a mom but Grace’s attitude towards her kids ruining a tv crew filming was a bit strange. Time is honestly money there and someone had to pick up the tab to reshoot that whole segment her kids ruined. She just laughs and walks off. Gave me a distaste for her to be honest.

I read this in one evening and it was a decent read to curl up with.

I have read a few of this lovely heartwarming series and I have to say that I think this is my favourite! As mentioned it is part of a series but I feel like it can be read as as a standalone as they author does mention characters from previous books.

Grace is the main character in this story and we learn early on that she leaves home at a young age. She was brought up by her grandfather Marley following the death of her mother and as she grows into her teen years, clashes with him which in turn sees her leaving home and Scotland. When we fast forward a number of years we find Grace a single mum of 3 boys and in a loveless and violent relationship. When she unexpectedly finds out that her grandfather has passed away, she takes the opportunity to escape her life and return home. Her real home.

I really liked Grace and rejoiced when she was finally able to make the break. Things definitely don’t run smoothly though as the home she once knew is now crumbling and in dire need of repair and money. It was really heartwarming to read just how loved and missed Grace was and that her friends don’t hesitate to help her which just shows the wonderful community for what is really is – a family. The castle itself and indeed Scotland sound absolutely wonderful and are described in such lovely vivid detail by the author that you can picture if clearly as you are reading.

This isn’t just your typical romance story though, it has some added plot twists featuring her family and secrets from the past that kept me reading and rooting for Grace and her lovely boys as they adapt to a completely new way of life.

A wonderful addition to the series that I couldn’t put down!

‘He was a TV superstar and she was a down-to-earth, frazzled mother of three trying to make ends meet. Even though they lived in the same castle building, they were worlds apart.’

The Love Heart Lane series by Christie is a sure fire way to put a smile on your dial. Even though part of a series (I have only read one other - no.4, this is no.7) they can certainly be read as a standalone. That being said, even from my one previous experience, it was like returning home to familiar faces and places.

‘From the outside the Castle seemed like a stunning piece of architecture that one could only dream of living in, yet inside it was a different story, one of sadness and a love that had been extinguished a long time ago.’

This book particularly pulled at my heartstrings, so it would appear Christie is just getting better and better with this particular group of characters. On this occasion it’s a tale of second chances, being given the opportunity to start over. It is also very much about community, friendship and forgiveness.

‘Their relationship had been over for a very long time, and the only connection between them now was when his fist pounded her body.’

This instalment is all about Grace and her three boys and their need to flee an abusive relationship - the youngest Billy, is selectively mute due to trauma (I say wiping a tear away as this little fella really pulls at one's heartstrings). Although it starts in this dark place, it quickly moves on through community support and the strength of Grace in seeking out a better life.

‘Taking her first steps back in Heartcross, of course Grace felt nervous. It was hard not to, knowing how people would react to her return.’

Life is not easy even once arriving at the castle due to past hurts, current residents and the physical state of the castle itself. Still, it is a safe refuge for Grace and her boys as the latter start to thrive in this wonderful environment. Heartcross sounds like an idyllic place to visit, from the Scottish countryside to life in a small village. Christie develops the community spirit as they take in one of their own and help her get back on her feet.

‘She’d arrived a naive sixteen year old and had fallen in love with a man she thought would protect her against all odds - and hadn’t. That life was gone and the second she stepped on the train, she felt relief. After all these years, Grace Power was on her way home.’

There will be surprises, fun and laughter (once the initial dark back story is complete) with an ending you know is coming but gosh the journey getting there was fun. This is a fabulous addition to the series with its heartwarming resolutions after quite a few tears. The characters in this series are people one would wish to know and to be part of such a community as a true home. This was just the book I was looking for, light and refreshing, with just the right amount of miscommunications with family and friends rallying to the cause to get me invested. A sweet book to spend a few hours escapism with - something we are all in need of.

‘There’s always good in any situation. You just have to look for it.’

Thankfully Christie Barlow is keeping her readers happy by publishing two books a year in the brilliant Love Heart Lane series because quite frankly I really can’t get enough of these books. Without doubt Love Heart Lane is my favourite ever series, with not a dud book in sight instead each story just gets better and better and my love for the characters, the plot and the setting only ever increases. You’d think by now perhaps the series would be running out of steam but that’s not happening at all and I think Christie just gets better and better with each new story she brings to us and you can tell how much she enjoys the writing. Long may it continue I say, if you are on to a winning, successful formula, which she clearly is, why go and change it or deviate from it at all?

Heartcross Castle is book number seven in the series and again as with all the books it can easily be read as a standalone but let’s face it why would you do that and leave it at reading just one book? Read them all for the community spirit, the fabulous setting of the village of Heartcross, the true and heart-warming friendships and also the brilliant storylines which make this series a real page turner and one you will relish. In this new story we are introduced to Grace Power in a brief but informative prologue. She has been estranged from her Scottish family since she was 16 and has taken up with Cole and for the last two years they have moved around a lot. Now she is beginning to tire of moving and questions whether she made the right choice? She feels lonely and not quite sure where she belongs. With no real friends who can she count on given Cole’s mood swings and the arguments that always escalate. But a surprise proposal and a secret changes things or so Grace thinks.

Fast forward six years and three kids later and Grace is in the depths of despair, stuck in an apartment block living on a knife edge in fear of what Cole will do next. Life has been more than tough for Grace and she knows her young boys are suffering just as much as she is at the hands of Cole. Years of empty promises, being constantly let down not to mention the abuse, both physical and mental, have taken their toll on Grace and when a letter arrives from a solicitors saying her grandfather Marley, owner of Heartcross Castle, has passed away and she is the only living relative Grace wonders is this the opportunity she has been waiting for? Will inheriting the castle be the good luck she needs to turn her life around? She steals away with Freddie, Joey and Billy having finally stood up to Cole but at the back of your mind you do wonder will Cole rear his ugly head again?

Grace is a character who is battered and bruised from her experiences but I found she pushed how she was feeling aside and always focused on the wellbeing of her children. They were her life and always front and foremost and at the heart of everything she did. But yet she has her own past hurts apart from what when on with Cole and guilt eats away at her. In the past she was hurt, rebellious and grieving the loss of her mother and was in no way prepared for the strict supervision of her grandfather. At first scant details are supplied as to what actually happened that made Grace flee the castle but as the story unfolds and develops all becomes clear and you can see why Grace escaped but that doesn’t make up for the fact that the guilt remains that she never made amends with Marley. But will the castle will prove a valuable lifeline for her and the boys now when they need it the most? She wonders will the residents of Heartcross and the friends she so abruptly left behind welcome her back with open arms or will they give her the cold shoulder?

Grace certainly has bridges to build back in Heartcross and you could feel her apprehension at returning oozing from the pages. This nervousness was all very real and valid but she needn’t have doubted her friends and the villagers as throughout the series they are known for their ability to rally around to help those in need, to offer a shoulder to cry on and just the feel good factor and cosiness is always abundant in spades. All the regulars that I have come to know and love were once again present and I loved all their connections to Grace. Isla and Drew, Felicity and Fergus, Allie and Stuart and so many more all pop up every now and again but the sole focus is on Grace and the journey she undergoes to find her new direction in life. I loved spotting the old familiar faces but it’s also become a bit of a game at this stage to see what new characters are briefly mentioned and to wonder will they get a book of their own in the future? I have my suspicions as to who future books could be about and hope these come to fruition. But in the meantime Grace’s story completely absorbed me, so much so that I really couldn’t stop reading until I had reluctantly reached the last deeply satisfying page. The descriptions of Heartcross Castle were wonderful and even though it’s not in the best of condition and fairly empty, still the memories Grace evokes of the years where the gardens were packed with visitors all made for a wonderful picture.

Soon the castle becomes a safe haven for Grace and the boys but an unfortunate encounter with celebrity chef Andrew Glossop, with him mistaking her for his new housekeeper, doesn’t see himself and Grace get off on the right foot. Andrew has leased the servants quarters as his new home and a filming location for his new TV show. He is passionate about his subject matter and money seems no object. He has no clue as to the struggles of everyday life and Grace is determined to keep her financial difficulties secret from him especially when she thinks he’d love to get his hands on the entire castle if she is forced to sell it. Grace is the complete opposite to Andrew. She is not motivated by wealth, success or materialistic things but instead is motivated by family and the love of her children. A tentative friendship develops between the pair and I loved how this aspect of the story unfolded with both Grace and Andrew bringing out the good things in each other and in doing so learning some important life lessons.

The three boys also provide plenty of comedic but also heartfelt moments and I found myself laughing at their antics, the boys have lots of fun and become settled and really go back to basics and nature especially as the grounds of the castle prove fruitful. It’s so far away from the life they had previously endured and experienced and Grace is just ever fearful that this will all be taken away from them. Will Grace have the strength, tenacity and fire in her belly to save the castle? Or will it all go horribly wrong? Is Andrew just out to get one thing? To discover the answers and lots more besides I have no hesitation at all in recommending Heartcross Castle. It’s exactly what I have come to love and expect from Christie Barlow and boy does she deliver every time. Peony Practice will be with us in May and I am already counting down the days. Do yourself a favour and make sure you are up to date with all the books by that time, you’ll be ever so glad to have discovered the Love Heart Lane series.

I don't know how Christie Barlow keeps doing it, but she seems to be growing from strength to strength with each book in this Love Heart Lane series.

And Heartcross Castle is arguably the best yet.

From the opening scenes where we learn just what situation Grace is in and why she desperately needs to escape it, to her arrival in Scotland, I couldn't get enough of this latest book.

I loved her three children, and the way they all learned to adapt to their new reality of owning Heartcross Castle, no matter what state it is in.

There are family secrets to be uncovered, friendships be renewed and maybe, a possibility of romance could be on the horizon too.

I loved catching up with all my friends from the previous books, but especially Felicity and Isla, who knew Grace from when they were growing up.

There were odd moments that were making my eyes feel a tad watery, and others that had me smiling.

I whizzed through reading this book in a few short hours and loved every second of it. Just a shame it had to end, so I now need to beg the author to write faster as I can't wait for the next book.

Thank you to Netgalley and One More Chapter for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

I really loved this feel-good women's fiction/romance book.

The story is about Grace Power and her journey from being with an abusive partner, to living in an inherited castle with her three sons, and living a better life. It is full of so many twists and turns, little secrets being revealed, family life, friendship and romance. Andrew, who also lives in the castle, becomes Grace's friend. Will she let him become more than that?

If you love sweet family books with an adventurous side, then you will love this book. Highly recommended!

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.

Wow, wow and wow. I absolutely loved this book and couldn’t put it down.

I’m a huge fan of Christie Barlow and this book certainly didn’t disappoint. I have thoroughly enjoyed all the other Love Heart Lane books and couldn’t wait to read this one.

I loved the story of Grace. Her character was amazing. It was lovely to meet new characters and catch up with old ones. It’s like meeting old friends.

I found this book a very heartwarming read and I really can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

I absolutely love all the Love Heart Lane series and I think this one has to be my new favourite. Can also be read as a stand alone too.

This book follows Grace who left Heartcross as a troubled teenager following the death of her Mother. Her life since has been far from easy, escaping an abusive relationship she gets a chance to move back to her childhood home. The castle is far from the luxury she remembered but it’s a safe place for Grace and her boys and that’s all that matters. Its not going to be easy, Grace must face the friends she deserted and ask their forgiveness, and she finds she has a celebrity chef in situ in the grounds of the castle. Whilst the story starts in a darker place than previous books in the series it’s written so well to set the back story before becoming a heartwarming, funny and cosy read, that you can easily devour in a sitting, I couldn’t put it down.
Christie Barlow at her best.

I have been a fan of Christie’s work for a while now. I haven’t quite caught up with everything that she has written but I am getting there. I especially love her ‘Love Heart Lane series’. I have read and loved each and every book that has been released in the series to date. When I heard that Christie was due to release a new book in the series then I knew that I just had to read the book as soon as I could. Well ladies and gents the wait is over because the seventh book in the series is called ‘Heartcross Castle’ and it was released on 31st December 2021. It’s another cracker of a read from Christie and I enjoyed every single minute of it but more about that in a bit.
I loved the character of Grace Power and I warmed to her from the very start. It didn’t take me long to feel as though she had become a friend of mine and I felt all protective of her. On numerous occasions I wanted to jump inside the pages of the book to give Grace a huge hug. Grace didn’t have the easiest of times in her relationship with her husband. I won’t say too much about what happens or doesn’t happen but I was cheering Grace on and willing her to make a change for her sake and the sake of her kids. Grace is the mother of three sons and she adores the ground that they walk on. Grace is a lovely young lady who would do anything for anybody if they needed a hand. She truly deserved a ‘happy ever after’ ending. What happens? Well for the answer to that question and so much more you are just going to have to read the book for yourselves to find out as I am not going to tell you.
It took me a little while to get into ‘Heartcross Castle’ as the story started differently to what I had been expecting and some of the subject matter wasn’t exactly easy to read. Once I got over the start of the story, that was it and I was away so to speak. I found it extremely difficult to put the book to one side for any length of time. I had become so attached to Grace, her family and the area around Heartcross Castle that I had to keep reading to see how the story panned out for them. The pages were turning that quickly that it was almost as if they were turning themselves as I seemed to race through the book. I became so wrapped up in the story that I lost all track of time and just how quickly I was getting through the book. All too quickly I reached the end of ‘Heartcross Castle’ and I had to say goodbye to Grace and the rest of the characters. I found ‘Heartcross Castle’ to be a lovely and ultimately uplifting read.
‘Heartcross Castle’ is superbly written but then I have come to expect nothing less from Christie Barlow. Christie has one of those easy going writing styles that is easy to get used to and easy to get along with. In fact it is so easy going that the story reads more like a chat between friends than reading an actual book. I hope that makes sense. Christie does touch on a difficult subject but she deals with it in a sensitive and compassionate way. Reading ‘Heartcross Castle’ felt like being on a bit of an emotional rollercoaster ride with all the ups and downs, twists and turns. I found that I was going through every sort of emotion that the different characters were going through. I felt as though I was part of the story and at the heart of the action which is all thanks to Christie’s very vivid and realistic storytelling.
In short, I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘Heartcross Castle’ and I would definitely recommend this book, this series and this author to other readers. I look forward to reading much more of Christie’s work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.

I am a huge fan of Christie’s Love Heart Lane series and I think this might be my favourite book in the series so far. It has the perfect combination of escapist setting, romantic tension, relatable characters and touching, emotional moments that make the ideal romantic read.

From the minute the book starts, Grace was a character that captured my heart and my sympathy, and I was with her on her journey throughout the book. As the mother of three young boys struggling with relationship issues, she feels so alone and I could relate to the sense of responsibility she felt for her kids, getting them out of the terrible situation they are in and building a better life for all of them. Christie really captures the agonies of being a single parent of young children, the heartbreak of not being able to give them everything you want them to have and having to deal with every crisis and problem by yourself, often not knowing how you are going to get through. You can really feel Grace’s pain through the pages.

Fans of the series will know that this is where the amazing community that Christie has built in Heartcross will come to the rescue. Honestly, it has now got to the stage that I have to remind myself that these are fictional characters and not a real set of people I am catching up with. I am so invested in this series and all the goings on in Heartcross that reading one of the books is like sitting down for a coy catch up with those old pals you having seen in a while but you know so well. The community welcomes Grace back with open arms and starts to help her rebuild, and it is nothing less than we expect.

The relationships in this book are what make it, and they are all beautiful. Grace and her boys, her old friends, and particularly that between Grace and Hector. Their interactions brought me to the verge of tears several times because the way they interacted was just so lovely. I love a book which explores relationships of all kinds, not just romantic ones, and this is where the people who are dismissive of romance novels are mistaken. There is always so much more going on in these books than a love story, and this book is a prime example of the complexity of issues that can be explored.

That’s not to say that the romance isn’t important. Andrew is a great love interest for Grace, but the romance is secondary to the other bonds Grace rediscovers in this book, and that is the way it should be. Romantic relationships are not the be all and end all of life, all our relationships support and nurture us in different and equally important ways.

Of course the setting is always a big draw in the Love Heart Lane books and, getting to explore inside the walls of Heartcross Castle was great fun. Christie has let her imagination run wild in the novel and has added all the fun quirks and secrets you would wish for in a Scottish castle. When I read things like this, it reminds me of the aspect of writing which most appeals to me, being able to create the world as you wish it existed, just because it makes you and your readers happy. This is what true escapism is, and escapist reading is sometimes just what we all need.

Runaway Grace has spent many years away from her home of Heartcross, a stunning village nestled in the Scottish highlands, but when her Grandfather passes away she knows it’s time to swallow her pride and return.

Having been only sixteen when she fled the safety of her family home things are bound to be different ten years on, not least the fact she has her three beautiful boys in tow. Grace had hoped that away from Heartcross she could achieve the life and independence she desperately craved, but the man she’d pinned her dreams upon quickly turned the magic she envisioned into a living nightmare. Isolated from friends and family Grace is living her life hour to hour barely scraping by and constantly in fear so when she discovers she is the sole beneficiary of her Grandfather’s castle she knows it’s now or never if she is ever going to escape the clutches of her abusive fiancé and protect her children.

Nervous about how the people she left behind will react Grace arrives back in Heartcross and soon realises it’s the least of her worries as she discovers her once luxurious home has seen better days. Upon her return she also discovers that part of the castle has been long-term rented to Celebrity chef Andrew Glossop by her Grandfather, but the pair don’t quite hit it off when the gorgeous chef mistakes Grace for ‘the help’! With an obnoxious neighbour and a run down castle on her hands Grace wonders if she has made a huge mistake coming home, but will the villagers welcome her or not?

The Love Heart Lane Series is one of my all-time favourites and somehow Christie manages to up her game for each new release by adding even more characters to her already diverse cast. Although this book can certainly be enjoyed as a standalone you do cross paths with many of the people from the previous books and it definitely would enrich your reading experience to have enjoyed the previous novels – in my opinion anyway!

Heartcross Castle is yet another book filled with relatable, flawed characters that create such a wonderful sense of community that for me it genuinely feels like coming home when I throw myself into each new story. Whilst the underlying story in this book is the tension and romance between Grace and the gorgeous Andrew, Heartcross Castle is much more than your average romance book. Not only does the strong community spirit I’ve already mention drip from the pages, but it deals with much bigger issues including friendship, acceptance, death, abuse, healing, regret and making amends to name but a few.

I personally find Christie’s writing style so easy to read and enjoy which made this book a delight to read and meant I flew through it so quickly I was left wanting more! I can’t wait for the next in this fantastic series to be released so I can dive right back into Heartcross and catch up with my fictional friends. If you haven’t already had the pleasure of reading any of this series I can’t recommend them enough.

Grace Power left home at 16 after an argument with her grandfather. To find the grass is not always greener. She spent a long time and the formative years, of her three boys, under the physical and emotional control of her partner. Until one day a letter from the solicitor comes to tell her her grandfather has passed away and she has inherited Heartcross Castle. Will Grace be able to return after so many years? Can she break the mould to be Grace Power once again?

After reading book 2 in the series "Foxglove Farm." I have been following the author. Knowing I wanted to read all the books in the series of love heart Lane series. So far I have read books all the books after and including book 2.

This is book 7 however you would not know this when reading and this book makes a great stand alone book, Something I think this author has got down to a fine art.

Once opening the book it is a page turner. From the start until the last page. Christie's writing has gone from strength to strength in the heartcross series. I think it may be safe to say with the emotion included in this book. It may be her best one yet!

The heart cross community are loving characters, each with their own secrets and hardships, who you totally feel yourself taking into your heart. They show you their emotions and allow you to become invested into their lives. More and more with each passing book. It's been great to reallt dig deep with some old friends, in this book, particularly Isla, Drew, Cam and Molly. Getting to see more of who they have become since we last read about them in their own books. The special thing about this book is that it really is a community event Grace coming home and you know your part of that community. Due to how close you've become with the characters involved throughout the series.

This book is a great romance read. Although their are some emotional subjects included in this book such as financial issues, physical and emotional abuse, trauma mutism, surrogacy and miscarriages amongst other things.. I do not feel this takes away from the romantic feel of the book but has you heart growing fonder of the struggles which each character has faced. It really increases the mystery and twists of the book but used in a subtle and empathetic manner. This book as extra twists added in that, j feel is fair to day, no one will expect!

I Cannot wait to read the next book.

Grace Power grew up in the town but after running away from it and her grandad at aged 16 she has never returned. However, upon her grandfather’s passing and the news that he has left Heartcross Castle to her she returns to her past to face all her old friends. But this time with three little boys in tow. Her sons. She find the castle has become delapidated since she last saw it and with no income she has no idea how she could afford to keep it. Then there is celebrity chef, Andrew Glossop who lives on the estate in the servants quarters and has his eye on the castle.

There is something so cosy and heartwarming about returning to the Love Lane Series. All the characters are a delight to read about and the small town sounds idyllic combined with the rolling countryside and local beach. Definitely somewhere I would choose to live.

Grace Power, is a really nice addition to the town. Her determination to raise her children properly and escape her previous life which left one of her children unable unable speak shows us how strong she is as well as how much she loves her sons. She would do anything for these boys and is making it her mission that they have a loving stable home finally, even if it means scrimping to make ends meet.

As the story progresses we get to truly see who Grace is away from her awful ex. As she travels to Heartcross we get to find out more about her past as well as see what her friendships are like through her childhood best friends Felicity, Allie and Isla.

I especially love the contrast of Grace and Andrew. You have the down to earth, single mother of 3 trying to make ends meet and ensuring every penny is accounted for. Then you have the famous, highly confident chef, Andrew Glossop who often has large parties with champagne, fancy food and no expense spared. These are a great representation of two complete opposite ends of the spectrum and how they can both help each other become better, more rounded people.

One of my favourite characters had to be Hector, the gardener at Heartcross Castle. The more I learnt about him, the more I loved him. His commitment and dedication to the Power family is so sweet and his love for his best friend’s grandsons is so emotional and beautiful. Hector is the sort of person who you would love to know in real life, with a heart of gold and not a bad bone in his body he becomes a pillar of the castle.

This was a beautifully written, heartfelt story from start to finish and I loved every minute of it. I’m definitely going to read the books I missed in the series in 2022.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ – if you need a heart warming fun read with great characters you need to pick up this book.

I know that there are many readers out there that adore the Love Heart Lane series, I am definitely one of them. This is book 7 and it keeps getting better and better, I do think this one may be my favourite so far.

Running away from home and Heartcross Castle as a teen was something that Grace felt she had to do. Years later she finds herself realising that life hadn't been a bed of roses, but at least she had her three sons. Her life revolves around them and when she receives a letter she knows that this is the thing she has been waiting for. A fresh start for her and her boys.

I have read and loved every one of the books in this series, they can be read as stand-alone as they are a story in their own right. What you will miss out on is how the community has been connected, brought together and developed with each book.

Grace returns to her childhood home, but rather than being the gorgeously decorated castle she finds a run-down, unloved looking place that definitely needs work. Her first impression isn't good, but gradually it is her sons that give her the inspiration she needs to see past the grime and tatty facade. It is the community that will give her the support and rekindle the lost friendships because this is what this community does best.

Andrew her neighbour, well he could not be more different to Grace if he tried. Their first meeting didn't go well when he mistakes her for being the housekeeper! It sort of sets the tone of his characters and shows how out of touch with the real world and everyday life he really is.

Thank goodness for the three boys, who are just adorable. They are mischievous, cute, funny and they themselves steal the show for this story. While they are a major part of the story, they just crop up in the best parts and in the best way. I imagine the author chuckling as she wrote their antics into the story.

This is once again another fabulous addition to the series. It is heartwarming, at times sad, with plenty of surprises and revelations but most of all it has all the magic of previous books, once again cementing another wonderful set of characters into this series. I adored this one a huge amount and it is one I would definitely recommend.

It was fabulous. I’ve loved all the Love Heart Lane Series, very special.
These books make me feel so good!
In this story Grace is the lead character. She is so lovely. A mum of three boys, and with a problem past. She finds herself back ‘home’ in Heartcross. She has mixed feelings about returning because of the circumstances in which she left Heartcross. And because her grandad has died. She’s a bit excited to escape to the castle after a few years of living in poor accommodation, with an abusive ex.
The state of the once-grand castle does shock her though.
Her old friends are so happy to see her after all these years, and they easily fall back into their banter. Everyone is so kind, it warms my heart.
Andrew, a famous chef, rents the old servant quarters across the courtyard from the castle. He has known riches all his life and is shocked to see Grace living on limited funds. The attraction between them is sparky!
There were some funny ‘chicken’ scenes and the fountain scene gave me shivers.
Hector was the old gardener at the castle and grandad’s best friend and he was still there. Grace’s boys and Hector hit it off straight away, such a lovely relationship between them.

It definitely is a place you don't want to leave. A place I now know so well that I feel like I'm living in the book. I know the people and all the places.
A real escape from the real world. Can you tell I loved it?!

This is book 7 in the series. I recommend reading Love Heart Lane, Foxglove Farm, Clover Cottage, Starcross Manor, The Lake House and Primrose Park (which were equally fabulous!) as it would give you the full back story of the people in the small village of Heartcross. They can all be read as stand-alone as each book focuses on a different character, with villagers popping up from the other books, but why miss out on enjoying them all. Once you read one you’ll be hooked.
It’s got everything you could want from a book, the community spirit, family and friendship.
I am so happy to shout about Christie Barlow books to everyone.

Thanks to HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter and NetGalley for the review copy in which I give my honest opinion.

It's a pleasure to be back in Heartcross with its lovely scenery and charming characters. I was first introduced to Christie Barlow over a year ago with the delightful Starcross Manor and couldn't wait to immerse myself in the beautiful Scottish countryside again. Who wouldn't want to live in a castle?

Grace Power is making a fresh start with her three boys, but is she in over her head taking on the upkeep of a castle that has been neglected for years?  Don't underestimate Grace. She is so strong as she leaves an abusive relationship and moves back home to start over and mend fences with the friends she abandoned so many years ago. Her love for her boys is what captured my heart. She makes the simplest things special and her boys are rambunctious but smart and kind like their mother.

Add to that her gorgeous Michelin-starred chef and multi-millionaire neighbor Andrew Glossop who is renting the servant's quarters on the property. But what can a man who is waited on hand and foot by a personal assistant, a housekeeper, and a butler have in common with a single mother of three?  Watch a loving family woo this lonely man who has no idea what unconditional love is.

The moments with Andrew and the boys are precious.  Hector, the Castle's gardener and best friend to Grace's late grandfather, is also a wonderful addition to the boys' lives. I guarantee the boys will steal your heart as they help Andrew understand how to live on a budget and teach a grown man how to let loose and be himself outside of the limelight he is used to.

Don't forget Grace's fantastic long-lost friends who come to her rescue when she needs them the most.

I am pleased to recommend this fabulous read full of emotional moments and warm supportive friends. Give this book and the series a try, it won't disappoint.

Thank you to Ms. Barlow for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.

First, whilst I have read and enjoyed a number of Christie Barlow’s books, I have to confess that I have not yet read any in the Love Heart Lane series. Although, after reading the wonderful Heartcross Castle, I fully intend to.

So, my first thoughts about Heartcross Castle – what an utterly charming book!

Being a single mum to three mischievous boys (Joey, Freddy and Billy) can’t be an easy job at the best of times, yet Grace has no family to support her, merely an ex-husband whom she is keen to escape. When she receives a letter advising her of the death of her estranged grandfather and an unanticipated inheritance, this could be the fresh start that Grace needs for herself and the boys.

Grace packs their bags and heads back to her childhood home and to the local community that she unceremoniously ran away from all those years earlier. Will her former friends be willing to forgive and forget?

And, what exactly is penniless Grace going to do with the run-down castle? Will she be forced to sell to her neighbour, TV chef Andrew Glossop? Can Grace bring herself to give up the place that holds so many memories for a second time?

The author has created a wonderful setting for the story and the characters are immensely likeable, from the lovely Grace and her boisterous sons, to the imperious Andrew and the supportive and loyal Felicity and her mother Rona. It really does seem to be an idyllic village life.

There are a few secrets that are gradually revealed as the story progresses and a few surprises to pique the readers’ curiosity. This book really is quite a page turner!

Ultimately, Heartcross Castle is a wonderful, heart-warming story of family, friendship and community. It is a lovely, entertaining read and one I would be happy to recommend.

Whilst this is number 7 in the series, the book can certainly be read as a standalone novel, as I have done. Although, I enjoyed it very much and fully intend to read the earlier books in the series now.

Thanks to One More Chapter and Netgalley for providing me with a copy of the book for review purposes.

This was such a welcome return to Heartcross and also for our main character Grace it was exactly what she needed the most.

Grace left Heartcross 10 years ago following a heated argument with her Grandad. Over the last decade Grace's life has changed drastically and she is still carrying the physical and emotional scars of a disastrous relationship. Even though she's now the mother of three boys she has never felt so alone. When she hears of the sad passing of her grandad she understands that this is the escape she needs for her and her boys and it's now time to go home.

Grace has inherited her late grandad's castle and she feels a glimmer of hope for the future. The castle in the past was her home and held many good memories but was overshadowed by the last conversation with her grandad. Arriving at the castle Grace is dismayed to find it in need of some serious tlc bringing further worries and hurdles for her to overcome.

Grace was a wonderful character to read about, she had spirit as a child but sadly a toxic relationship made her lose her zest for life. The best thing to come out of this disastrous ten years were her 3 boys. The boys were such fun and added another dimension to the storyline bringing lightness to dark times.

Not only has she ben left the castle but she also was left a tenant, non other than celebrity chef Andrew Glover. Andrew Glover's life couldn't be any different to Grace's and they soon clash but slowly as time goes on Andrew can see that this young family bring a certain energy back to the castle and grounds.

I loved this story. Seeing the castle through the eyes of Grace and her boys was charming and nostalgic but i also felt pangs of poignancy.

Christie Barlow has created a story of new beginnings bringing much hope for the future. There's that wonderful community spirit that we've enjoyed from the residents of Heartcross leaving a comforting ambiance. I didn't want the story to end but for Grace and her boys this is the beginning of a brand new adventure were life can be enjoyed again.
