Would the penalty for his questions—and his love—be lethal?

He’s got it all—looks, charisma, the compelling grin—everything Hollywood could ever ask for. Cass Remmlone is finally living his dreams. Maybe he’s not like he used to be. Maybe he doesn’t call home anymore, doesn’t read his Bible, doesn’t darken the doors of a church. But he’s having fun—and he’s having it with his best friend, Eddie Barlow.

Cass should have known God wouldn’t shut His eyes forever. Chastisement slams so fast Cass hardly knows what’s happening. Eddie is lying on the pavement, paramedics hunkering over him, even as his face goes slack. He whispers one name: Madeline.

Drowning in the horrors of his grief, Cass climbs into his convertible and drives away, leaving behind a career he spent most of his life pursuing. With nothing more than a letter and a name to go on, Cass finds himself in a town called Angel Gate, West Virginia, where he hopes to uncover more about the woman named Madeline. It is mere providence that leads him to the rundown farm, where he catches his first sight of Audrey Wade. If he thought she was beautiful before, the fact that she wants nothing to do with him only increases his attraction. But are his efforts even fruitful? Or is he wasting his time?

The longer he spends in Angel Gate, the more he begins to sense something sinister. A child is in danger, yet no one seems to notice. And who is Madeline? Why does the town go hush at the sound of her name? The closer he comes to the answers, the deeper he sinks into a nightmare.

Cass Remmlone can star in a movie...but can he rescue a child, win Audrey’s heart, and uncover a grisly truth? Or will he die trying?

I cried. No. I sobbed. I actually sobbed. Heart wrenching sobs that don't stop until the tears are a-flowing. Causing me to finish this book in one sitting.

Angel Gate is one of those books you don't easily forget. I waited to start reading it until I had enough time to finish it, believing it to be a book I didn't want to put down. I was correct..... :P

Although this was the first book I have read by Willowy Whisper it shall not be the last. ^.^ ((Can we take a minute to swoon over that cover??! 😍😍😍💞💞💞💞💞)) I was pleasantly surprised by her natural take to flushing out characters. Just a few days before I started reading this I had been dying to read or write a story where the male lead is a flirting champion who has all the girls he wants, but one. That one girl could care less about him, and despises his pursuits of her. I L.O.V.E.D. how Willowy Whisper went about creating this relationship.

Setting ~ Traveling....In different states across America....then mostly in Angel Gate West Virginia. A tiny town in the middle of nowhere. Forests...a rickety old house...etc. The places were frequently described depending on the location, giving the reader a perfect picture.

Plot ~ Whoa. For a little contemporary novel we sure received some action. LOL And although I did guess a major plot twist I enjoyed the--mostly--relaxed ride. ^.^

Description ~ Ahhhh....it wasn't always present, sweeping you off your feet, and moving your heart. It was more just accompanying the book in the side lines. The setting was detailed nicely, and the characters motives were as well...but it wasn't the magical description that I like. ^.^

Romance ~ NOT. Cliche. O.O It made my heart so happy. Was I swooning?? Yes. Was I balling my eyes out? N--yes. Was I constantly tense? No. Was there moments of tension? Yes. Like I said earlier...the romance was what I had been looking for. So I was ecstatic. xD

Content ~ Blood. Murder. Abuse of children. Mentions of dead bodies. Murderer. Fierce stabbing scene. Not gory though. Talks about a couple kisses, but they aren't detailed outrageously.

Characters ~ #sighsdramatically They weren't just plastic people moving about in a tiny fictional story. They were real. They experienced real pain and real problems. They had to make hard choices. They had to learn how to depend on God. They had to surrender.

Overall ~ I fangirled the whole time--after realizing how accomplished the author was. My poor heart experienced some unexpected tragedy near the end...and I thought for a couple of moments that this was REAL. *shudders* I still am trying to figure out how Willowy Whisper convinced me to relinquish my heart....

Do me a favor and contact me if you ever figure that out.....

**FTC DISCLOSURE** I was given a copy of this book in exchange for a review. This review is NOT biased and is my personal opinion, so please try not to be offended. =) Thank you.

I am a huge puddle of giddy goo right now. This book y'all was phenomenal. My heart was racing with all kinds of emotions throughout the whole book.
There was action, romance, and real life deep topics. I feel in love with this story from page and I am still in love even though I've finished the book.

The characters were amazing and I could rant about some characters and how much they annoyed me but I'll stick to the positive ones like Cass, Audrey, and Shane.
Cass was so amazing and I honestly am just a puddle of goo when I think about some of the things he thought. I probably had hearts for pupils. He was amazing and I loved seeing his development throughout this book.
Audrey was also amazing and she cracked me up man. She definitely kept Cass on his toes during this book. Her personality was enjoyable to read about and I also loved seeing her evolve into the woman that she was at the end of this book.
Shane, poor innocent Shane. He broke my heart. I wanted to hug him so badly so many time. This poor six year old went through so much.

The plot was enticing. I loved it! I could not put this book down even if I wanted to, which I didn't. The plot was like a Hallmark movie but much, much deeper. If you were to read this book, you would know what I'm talking about. ;)

That ending y'all had my stomach in butterflies and me awwing at 11 at night. It was so bittersweet and ughhhh, y'all need to read this book.

I really enjoyed this book and I definitely will be reading more of Ms. Whisper's books. She is a fantastic writer and I have loved the two books that I have read by her so far!

*FTC: I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest opinion. All thoughts are my own. I was not required to write a positive review.*

Special thanks to the author who gave me a copy in exchange for an honest review. The author did not pay me for a review and all the thoughts here are my own honest opinion.

I LOVE this book so much! 5 Stars all the way! =D

This book is one of those hidden gems. It is hiding among us with a gorgeous cover that is begging for you to pick up and read it. LIKE WHY ARE YOU EVEN STILL HERE!!! GO PICKUP THIS BOOK!!!

The minute I started reading this book I was immersed in these characters lives. The descriptions flowed right off the page and showed us emotion. EMOTION GUYS!!! I mean, it almost had me tearing up a little. The scenery of the countryside in this book is very beautifully and wonderfully explained. Yeah, pretty much everything in the writing field is great with this one.

So when I first pick up this book, I only knew of two things: one: other great reviewers says that it is good (it is). And two: it is contemporary with a twist of action. Like YES!!! It is very action-packed in all the right ways. It never distracts from the story but instead expands on it. It was exciting, not too gruesome, and tear jerking.

The love story is also very sweet. It's not love at first sight but rather it takes time for the characters to fall in love with each other. AHH!!! THESE CHARACTERS ARE SO GOOD TOGETHER!!!

I really enjoyed the Christian message in the story, of how we should depend on God and trust in Him. It was very well done.

The Characters:

CASS!!! Super sweet! Sure he can be a flirtatious jerk at times, but he grows so much in this novel. And I love how much he helps others when there isn't really anything in it for him. He was just so selfless. He's a movie star who is struggling. He's real, and I love him.

Audrey! Though she often tells Cass to go away and whatnot, I still really liked her. She has a gentle personality, and she is very kind. She was struggling and didn't know whatever or not if she should trust Cass. I also love her artistic skills and her journal of paintings. It was beautifully explained and heart wrenching in some places. A picture is definitely worth a thousand words and this author managed to capture that.

Shane! HE JUST NEEDS TO BE SHIELDED AT ALL COSTS!!! This kid went through so much. Poor kid. I love his personality and though he suffered he was so brave.

Content in Book:

1. Having a child out of wedlock. (Only vaguely mentioned.)

2. Violence. (Punching someone. Hand-to-hand combat. Beating a child (child abuse). Breaking a bone. Hitting someone over the head. Etc.)

3. Child abuse. (Physical, verbal, material. Etc.)

Who I Would Recommend This Book Too:

Those who love contemporary romance. Those who love real characters and great descriptions. Those who like a little action in their novel.

My goodness, this was an intense read. I was expecting a romantic suspense between a Hollywood actor and a farm girl with a touch of mystery- and got way, way more. The hero was my favorite, coming to find closure after losing his best friend in a tragic accident and stumbling into town to become a very needed Good Samaritan. Then the poor soul has the bad fortune to become smitten with the Queen of All Ice Queens. And smack dab in the middle of it is an innocent, abused boy and his crazed guardian. Each of the characters are grappling with their own ghosts, that are trying to lead them into isolation from God and each other, and watching the paths they have to walk together to get to where they need to go is gripping. This was not the routine genre novel, and it isn't one I will soon be forgetting.

I received a copy of this book from the author, and the opinions are my own.

Oh my goodness! I am gasping for air. What a heart -pounding, breath- taking story! A handsome movie star. A country girl in the middle of nowhere. An unlikely romance. An abused boy. An unsolved mystery involving a murder or two or three. A killer on the loose. An arson. A sigh of relief when the book ends but it will be while before I can relax! What an intense book!

Ah, Willowy, you’ve done it again!

This girl is hands-down one of the most technically perfect authors out there. I could go on and on about how well-balanced her prose is, how smooth her pacing, how well-developed her suspenseful romances.

But seeing as how this is supposed to be a mini review, I think I’ll cut to the chase and focus on my thoughts on Angel Gate.

Like always, Willowy captivated me from Page 1 with this story of a runaway actor. I came to feel for and love the characters—Cass and Audrey and Shane and the rest of the supporting cast. And when she threw in that fast-paced suspense? Amazing!

The best part of it all was how well she wrote Cass. She focused more on him and stayed in his POV for most of the book—which few romance authors do, as they focus more on the heroine. I appreciated that, since it is his story, and since she gave him a distinct voice and wrote him so well! His emotions were evident and his thoughts very realistic. She did a fabulous job with my man Cass.

However, what kept me from getting fully immersed in the story was how 1950s everything was! From the situation with Madeline to Cass’s acting career to several small things—if it weren’t for the mention of Matt Damon, I would’ve thought it was at least 1960-something. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a his-fic kind of gal, and I love retro/vintage vibes, but in a strictly contemporary 21st century story, eh...I don’t know, it just kind of took away from it.

Plus, I’m not a fan of stories (or even movies/TV shows) about actors and celebs, simply because their portrayal is all off, so I guess that’s more of a personal pet peeve (of which I have many).

Aside from that, it was such a lovely story! If one can call murder and mayhem in the small-town South lovely. Cass was a great hero, and Audrey was as decent a heroine as any. (I don’t like most heroines in general.) The story was so well-paced and balanced, and I’ll say it again—Willowy can pull off a suspense! I cannot wait to read the novels she has in the works—Regency romantic suspense sounds phenomenal!

Angel Gate certainly didn’t top Willowy’s historical work—which I definitely need to read more of—but it was a sweet, inspirational read that I thoroughly enjoyed! I mean, why wouldn’t I have?

Wow what a great book to get lost in. It pulled me in right from the beginning and just kept getting better. In this story we meet Cass who has everything from a worldly perspective. But when a horrible accident sends him spiraling, he takes a field trip to keep a death bed promise. However on this trip, his eyes are opened to a different way of life. Now he’s forced to choose between fame and fortune or true love and family. And while he waffles, the very lives of those he cares about as well as his own lies in the balance. Is there a miracle in his future or more reasons to be angry at God. I love how Cass comes to a point where he has to choose whether to continue to be angry at God or repent and seek forgiveness. What will he choose. Additionally, the woman he cares for Aubrey, faces a surrender of her own. Can she thank God for the good times even if the ending is not what she would have chosen. So many good themes running through this story: courage, love, repentance, forgiveness, surrender along with the evil of child abuse and murder. A classic story of good versus evil with a mysterious storyline and some romance. Highly recommend this book

You need to be prepared to read this book. I struggle with books that tell stories of any type of abuse. The abuse in this book will have you balling your eyes out. With that being said, this book was amazing! The errors were minimal and how it flowed was just...Whisper is a gifted writer. My heart ached for Audrey, Cass and little Shane. I just wanted to scoop him up and love on him. Ed's and Madeline's stories were tragic. How Whisper wrote Christ into this story was so realistic. I had to pray because I wanted Mikey to die! God, help me! Did I say you are going to love this book? Christ is still our Redeemer, even when things don't seem to go the way that they should. This is the second best book I've read this year. This book will be sitting with me long after I've moved on to other books. Absolutely riveting! What does one read after a book like this? I wish I could just sit and bask in the afterglow. I received this book for an honest review from Amazon.

This is the first book I have read of Willowy Whisper’s and even now I can tell I will like her novels!
The reasons I liked Angel Gate:
- It was a fast paced book (kept me guessing) and I never got bored of it!
- I loved the romantic view it showed (and it was all clean!)
- It was very down to earth and none of it seemed ‘unreal’
- It was a whole new perspective to me because not many people write about movie stars
There are many other reasons why I liked Angel Gate - these were the most important to me
If you are thinking about reading this (or any other of Willowy’s) you should by all means! I was not at all disappointed in this book! 😀

I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for this honest review. All opinions are mine.

Wow. This book latched onto me from the first sentence, and has gripped me until the end. This is the first work of Willowys’ I have read, and I can guarantee that it will not be the last.

This book focuses on Cass Remmlone. He is a Hollywood Star, he is rich, handsome, and famous. He has always dreamed of becoming an actor. His best friend Ed Barows dreams too. Now, Cass is an actor, and Ed is his stunt man. Everything is perfect. But as Cass finds himself, staring down at his best friend, crushed and bleeding on the pavement, he feels his hard worked for reality slipping away. With not much to work with, Cass goes searching for a young women to deliver an interesting message. But when strange events start to happen, a young abused boy shows up on the scene, and Cass himself starts to fall in love, he has to ask himself what his real dreams truely are.

Angel Gate is full of mystery, suspense, danger, murder, love, and self sacrifice. As you read Angel Gate you will find yourself not only connecting with the characters, but also connecting with God’s love, which is a huge part of this book.

The overall flow of the book, went at a very quick speed, but definitely took time to go deep, and to really connect you with the story, and the characters. I felt like the flow was very good. I would rate the writing in this book with 4 1/2 stars.

The Murder, and Suspense was truely gripping, and was not overly gory, or bloody. It was an active part in the book, and was definitely well written. I would rate this with 4 stars.

The Romance section of this story really pulled at my heart, as the characters really opened up there hearts, showing the pain or the regrets inside. Cass was very vulnerable at the end, and I really liked that. Over all I would give this section 4 1/2 stars.

For the entire books review, I rate Angel Gate with 5 stars. You should all definitely read it. It was passionate, deep, suspenseful, and over all just a very good read. I read this book in two days.

I know that you will all enjoy this book as much as I did.

I have been given a copy of this book in exchange for this honest review.

The first few chapters of Angel Gate, I was unimpressed. Wasn't super into it and didn't know how I felt about the characters. But then the real drama started and things got interesting. After that, I breezed through the rest of the book.

I found myself thinking I could totally see this book on Hallmark movies and mysteries and I'd totally watch it. There was some blood and violence, but nothing gory. It just added another level of intenseness that was completely unexpected.
And lil baby Shane 😭😭 he's precious and I just wanted to give him all the love and care he deserved and was deprived of for so long. And I can't say I felt bad when Mikey finally got what was coming to him.

Willowy Whisper is a very talented author who writes quality and heartfelt stories. I definitely want to read more from her in the future.

This book was fantastic! I could not put it down until I finished! I cried, and laughed! Couldn't help but fall in love with Audrey and Cass.

"Hollywood called him a star. That's what I am. He smiled, but only barely. A 🌟 star. A twinkling little star in a big black sky..... But the star shone bright. The star was falling. Not yet."

I felt like I was walking that lonely road with Cass. Or right there with Audrey, taking care of that sweet little boy, trying to remain strong.
I will definitely be reading more from this author!!! And I'm part of blog Tour!!! You don't want to miss reading this book!!!

Thank you so much to Author for the eARC. All opinions are my own.

Warning: Do not start this book if you need to get anything else done that day as you will not want to put it down! This story is not as much about the romance between the main characters as it is a mystery/thriller involving many characters in the small West Virginian town. There were many twists and turns, suspenseful moments and yet the puzzle pieces all form together for a happy ending. This Christian story has excellent character development. I enjoyed it thoroughly despite the fact that this was outside my normal reading genre.

I could not even put it down.
Every single part of this book was flawless - the author’s way of words, the depth and growth of the characters, the suspense, the twists and turns - everything!! It had everything I could have wanted and more! Absolutely amazing! (I also cried ... a lot....)

And another huge thank you to the author for giving me a copy of this book to enjoy and review! <3 :)

Sometimes when your own life is stressful you just need to read a book that you know will have a happy ending. Obviously I didn’t know for sure how it would end, but I was sure hoping. There were a lot of twists and turns along the way which made it an “I can’t put this down” page turner.

The romance in this book was so sweet and innocent- very endearing.

I laughed. I cried. No, I sobbed. My heart raced so fast I couldn’t control it. I haven’t soared through a book that fast in a long time. Hannah did a fantastic job with this story. I never knew what was coming and each word was crafted meticulously. Her writer’s voice is beautiful. Angel Gate was beautiful.

Willowy Whisper does it again with a story that draws you in and keeps you guessing what will happen until the very end.

Beautifully constructed, this story reads like a mystery film and it was very well done.

She writes characters with depth and I love how she weaves faith in Jesus Christ throughout without feeling preachy or as if it is out of place in the story.

I have read several of Willowy Whisper's books and her writing just gets better with each one.

Go check out this thrilling read!

This novel, which began for Cass ( a movie star) to heal and follow through on his best-friend's dying wish turned into a full scale multiple murder mystery. It brings him to Angel Gate in WV where he meets up with Audrey, who is down on relationships due to being left at the altar. This novel relates in language and presentation to the younger generation drawing one into the scenarios emotionally. Although sweet and clean romantically, it involves violence (fighting and murder) with much action and adventure, maintaining one's interest from beginning-to-end.

I enjoyed Angel Gate. The trust issue between Audrey and Cass was compelling as well as the fear the author made me feel for the little child, Shane. By the end of the story, I understood the full circle Cass and Audrey had to complete in order to overcome their lack of trust of life and each other.
This was an interested story that was a nice clean read.

This story was a PLEASURE to read!

It's the first I've read by this author, so I was pleasantly surprised to be able to add her to my favorites.
A clean story with people shows faith is so real that it's as natural as breathing.
The story tugged at my heart and kept me reading & smiling (ok there were some really tense, sad spots too.)

I was not expecting this book to be so intense! There was significantly more danger and violence than I anticipated. The author did a good job of making me care about the characters and fear for them. That and a bit of mystery made me want to keep turning pages.
I liked how the plot was done. It all fit together well and seemed realistic. I was impressed with how fleshed out the scenes were. I always felt like I had a clear window into what the characters were experiencing.
The one part that I was disappointed with was the romance. I felt like it was based on passion and not mutual respect or friendship. It is one thing to be attracted to someone and want them in your life. It is another thing to care about that person's heart, mind and dreams, nurturing those and stepping aside when needed. I would have liked more of the latter, which may be personal preference, but it did affect my enjoyment of the story.
