Trayis
Growing up mostly human in a Lycan pack has been hard for Shay. Shunned and distrusted by most, she wouldn’t have survived without the support of her foster family and alpha. I'm a full time home 'supervisor' which is a nice word for saying I'm a housewife. I'm married happily, I met my dream guy 20 years ago, and we have 4 children. I live in Southern California and I can't function without iced coffee. I believe in romance, I've always been a daydreamer, and I'm a HUGE fan of books, always have been.
No, I didn't know that I always wanted to write. I inhaled books as a child. I read entire series (Pippi Longstocking, Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys, Trixie Beldon, The Borrowers, etc) in a matter of days at a time. By the time I was nine years old I had an adult library card where I visited often. I moved on to John Saul, Stephen King, Richard Laymon, Agatha Christie, and then found romance. I was hooked. I wrote poetry in my teens and then moved on to short stories. My first book was started after I read a real bomb of a book that ticked me off with really horrible characters and a plot that was shabby at best and I thought... I could do better. LOL.
I wrote my first book which will probably never see the light of day in the early 90's. I wrote a series of a few books from it. I'm a series fan! I kept writing for fun, wrote MANY books and then in 2009 I decided to try to get published. I wrote my first Sci Fi romance and Ral's Woman came to be. I submitted it and with a little tweaking, Ellorascave sent me an acceptance letter. It was kind of a 'Cinderella' experience for me. It's been a terrific ride so far and I'm really happy that I finally had the time to commit to writing full time. It's a dream come true.

Trayis and Shay
Shay has grown up in her father’s Lycan pack. Her parents have died, her grandparents never accepted her and Shay had to grow up in a foster family that were friends of her parents.
As her mother was human, Shay has more human traits than lycan’s traits. She is not that strong and she cannot shift. As a result, the pack has shunned her. Shay is lonely and has developed low self-esteem.
Trayis is the Alpha's half brother and he is a VampLycan. He lives in Alaska and he is the Alpha of his own pack.
Shy and timid Shay does not know the status of Trayis, but she has a crush on him for many years. During one if his infrequent visits of Trayis in order to meet his brother's new baby, Shay finds the courage to propose Trayis an one night stand.
Trayis cannot believe his luck.
Shay cannot believe that he said yes.
The one night stand will result to more nights and days. Shay tries to hide it, but Trayis after a while has absolutely no problem telling everybody.
OveraIl I liked the story but I had two main issues:
1. Shay has low self esteem in almost the whole book. After a while, it gets tiring to read how unworthy she feels. Just to be clear here, I didn't mind at all that she is so submissive. The role of nonstop protective Trayis mainly emphasizes her lack of confidence than it balances it out.
2. The book leaves so many loose ends. I didn't feel that the story has been completed. For example:

I had to admit this series is not half as good as New Species series 😬
Infact I really dislike the first three books from this series.
However this is Ms. Dohner’s books, one of the Author who made me start and love to read PNR romance.
So, yup! Her decent series like this one still more enjoyable than many other authors’s books out there for me. Lol.
Try it, you probably will like it too. 😘

4 1/2 stars, I loved this book just like I havre really loved this series. I started this book and it was like I never left this world Laurann Dohner created.

'Trayis' is the first book that I've read in Dohner's VLG series. Though that doesn't mean she's a new author to me. I enjoy her paranormal romances immensely. This one definitely didn't disappoint either. I went in without even reading the blurb. Maybe I'll try other parts in this series.

No. Her life is what it is and she's ok with facing a future without a mate serving the pack.
At a meeting of pack leaders hosted by her pack's Alpha, Shay takes a bold step to approach Trayis, her Alpha's brother visiting from Alaska. All she wants is one night of passion to feel like a desired woman without the awkwardness that would happen if he lived locally.One night of sex with her childhood crush before he returns to his own pack.
Things don't go as planned when Trayis discovers a secret she's been keeping and decides to extend his visit.

Newest installment in the "VLG" series that could be read as a standalone. For those who need to know, this book and series does include adult content erotic romance between the main characters.
Fans of Ms. Dohner will be happy with this newest installment that follows a predictable story line. Personally, I feel the series has lost it's focus since the death of Decker as the author struggles to give purpose to the series moving forward. Again, that's a personal feeling and open to debate.
Tayis & Shay. A case of strong Alpha male who comes across a vulnerable down trodden female taking a personal interest in her and her situation. I did struggle to feel these two were a fated couple vs opportunistic mates as there really wasn't enough emotionalism to back up the chemistry between the two. Further, the white knight role Trayis plays in this story was more protective and nurturing with a side of whoopie sex than a true Earth shattering Mother Nature providing one's true and fated mate sort of thing.
Secondary characters. All add various degrees of value and worth to the world building and support the main characters. There is an evil/bad guy element that I foresaw early in the story in a predictable fashion.
My issues were more that the overall story was enjoyable and features some hot times between the main characters but overall didn't reach the bar that I look for in providing a surprise or two or unexpected story line element I didn't see coming.
This is a book to check out if you like a bullied character who meets someone who values them enough to fight for them and cherish them enough to give them the future they deserve.

The bottom of the pack
What a wonderful example of why this author continues to be one of my one-click authors. She brings these stories full of fantastic characters, action, adventure, family and love. Where the alphas are dreamy, the women are strong and courageous, and family is the most important thing. I love that Trayis finally found his HEA and she couldn’t have created a better mate for him he is the protector of the weak and innocent, he needed a mate who was tough enough to save herself and gentle enough to need him. I really hope the author continues to amaze us with books from this series. I can’t wait to read the next one.

I enjoyed this story. Though, Shays pack is full of dumbasses. I don't know which ones pisses me off more. The bully ones, or the ones, who acts like she's some fragile thing, that can't survive a freakn breeze.
I liked Trayis a lot. I was curious about him from the first time he appeared in the series. He was really great as a clan leader, but he is even better as a mate. The way he was with Shay... He was so supporting and loving. Instead of clipping her wings, he wanted her to soar. And after all this years living in the pack who looked down on her because of her mostly human side, that was what she needed so much.

През целият й живот те се държат отвратително гадно с нея подхвърляйки и забележки, че . Все неща, които я нараняват, плашат и я карат да страни от всички мъже в гл��тницата й.
Трейъс беше великолепен. В неговият клан хората не се интересуват от кръвните връзки, и щом някой намери половинката си, тя бива приветствана без значение каква р��са е. Харесваше ми колко закрилнически настроен бе той към Шей, как се дразнеше от начина по който другите са се държали с нея, и постоянно се стараеше да й повдига самочувствието и да успокоява тревогите й. Той бе така разбран, така нежен и просто страхотен. В предишните книги, когато сме го срещали винаги е бил чудесен, но тук беше просто върха. Видяхме колко доблестен, добър, умен, забавен и честен е той. В сравнение с другите книги, тази бе значително по-спокойна, нямаше толкова екшън, колкото в предишните, а беше сладка и приятна книга. Допадна ми изключително много. Малко съм тъжна, че това е последна книга от поредицата, поне за момента, но се надявам, че авторката смята да ни зарадва в скоро време с нова книга. Влюбихме в тези ВампЛайкъни и ГарЛайкъни и Лорън ни е представила цял куп страхотни герои, които заслужават своя книга и свой щастлив край. Надявам се да имаме книги за Келзеб, Чаз, Фрей, Небюла и Пест(Темпест) от ГарЛайкъните. Кар, Гарсън, Тимбър и може би Маверик от ВампЛайкъните. Имаме и 2ма лайкъни, Грейвс и Мика, за които също ще се радвам да има книги. Като цяло, авторката има доста за писане, надявам се скоро наистина да имаме още книги от тази поредица. <3

2.5 ⭐️ Sweet but the heroine was a bit down on herself. I sort of understand but I felt it was very poor me. I wanted her to be more kick arse despite her circumstances. Not the hero being with her out of pity or that is what it felt like

Trayis NOT travis XD
Loved this couple not necessarily on of my favorites but they were so good together and it was such a sweet read. The only problem I had with this book was that until halfway thru I thought his name was travis instead of trayis and every time I here the name travis i think of some back woods hill billy which made it hard to set the mood for me 😂😂😂 once I realized I was reading his name wrong (instant relief lol) it was smooth sailing from there! Just on click this bish you won't regret it.

Not my favorite in the series, but I still enjoyed the story. I thought Trayis and Shay were a cute couple and I'm glad he helped her see her self-worth.

Amazing New VLG Boom
Im a huge fan of Laurann Dohner's books and have read everyone shes published. I absolutely adore her VLG series and have to say that Trayis is one of my favorites. I really enjoyed Trayis and Shay's journey. This book was a little different than some of her others with Shay being a little more emotionally fragile than some of her other heroines, but i loved it. I loved seeing Shay gain her confidence and her trust in her relationship and in Trayis. I have not been able to put this book down since i started reading it. I cant wait to see whats next from this wonderful author.

What a nice surprise! I had no idea that Trayis had been released until an email from Book Bub informed me that one of my favorite authors has a new release.. Well, they were right. As I’m sure it’s not secret, Laurann Dohner is the reason I read PNR books. I found the genre kinda meh until I fell head first into her New Species collection and the obsession began. This woman does no wrong in my book and is the master at her craft. That said… VLG is my second favorite series that she has written so it was Christmas in May for me when I learned of this book waiting to be devoured.

Trayis may not be my favorite in the VLG series (that spot is reserved for Aveoth— read it and you’ll understand) but he was delightful and all alpha, as you can expect. The 11th installment to the VLG follows the same plot style we are use to and even has a few familiar friends stopping in to say hello. I found this to be a sweet story that left me feeling uplifted and all mushy for this soul mate love. Trayis was a nice addition and his connection to the Lycan pack was very interesting. I enjoyed that he was greatly “feared” and a bit intimidating. Of course, little Miss Shay, the half Lycan half human, was ready to take her chance with the masculine VampLycan and see what happens. The two’s interactions were adorable and romantic. The arch of the story followed a perfect path to their happy ever after. The only thing I would have changed was allowing Shay to shift before the close of the book but maybe that is something we will learn in the next chapter..
To me, Laurann Dohner will always receive high praise as she writes such amazing characters that stay with you long after you are done with their journey. The best part, of course, is you never know when you will hear from these beloved characters in other volumes of their series. She writes “community” better than anyone else I know… I love learning about each member of the pack, clan, or whatever else she calls it and their personal stories. All of her work will be rereads for me and I would recommend Trayis and the rest of the collection to anyone and everyone!

I have really enjoyed this series, and this book was a sweet read without so much of the angst and drama, and almost none of the bloodshed of the earlier books.
Shay is an absolutely adorable heroine, and Trayis...well I am sort of in love with him!!!
The story was lighter than the others, with all the major threats having been disposed of earlier in the series. It was not without its issues though.
My biggest issue was continuity. In earlier books, with alphas and clan leaders, we never heard anything about "throwing vibes". Yet here it was, mentioned probably 100 times. I honestly got a bit tired of hearing it. The other was the constant use of "Werewolves" or the shortened version, "Weres". In previous books, it was always "Lycans", unless, of course, a human who didn't know any better was the one doing the talking. The lycans themselves really did not use the term "werewolf" anywhere in the previous books that I can recall.
This made the book feel a bit rushed. The story was sweet, but could have benefited from a bit more detail. Some bits seemed very glossed-over, or hastily written without much thought. The previous books had a great deal more detail to them.
(Of course, this is the reverse of the book #3, Lorn, where there was a single very long discussion between Lorn and his brother Lavos about why Lorn shouldn't keep Kira.) The discussion circled around and around, and repeated itself again and again, with the same things being reiterated until I actually paperclipped off that section for future reads, so I could skip it. It took over an hour to read that single discussion. It would have been nice if there was a bit more to the story, but I really did enjoy the read, so I will stop nitpicking.
It was really nice to have a more lighthearted book in this series! Despite the inconsistencies from the previous books, I definitely recommend it.

I loved it and was disappointed all at the same time.
I loved it because it was sweet. It had the getting to know you, falling in love aspect throughout the whole book. No super insta-love nonsense. And the characters were all likable. And of course I couldn’t wait for Trayis to get a book. Wonderful read.
I was disappointed because it lacked the intensity of the instincts that should have driven them together. It was like a regular non-paranormal romance would have been. It has ALWAYS been written in this series by this author that once they tasted blood they INSTANTLY knew if they were mates. But that didn’t happen here.
All the intensity and passion was just not in this book. It was more a gradual acknowledgement of falling in love or falling into mates here. Like a boring hallmark movie that barely shows them falling in love but the ending is so heartfelt that you just feel all the love that was missing in the rest of the movie and suddenly it makes the whole movie worth it for those short few minutes at the end. What I call the HEA hook. It snags you in the end. Like a patient fisherman with his wormy hook.
Yes I complain, but I loved this book. The gradient development of this romance was indeed a sweet enjoyable book. It will be on my reread list. And yes there were still grammatical errors. Grrr. Enjoy!

What a fantastic pair Trayis and Shay make. I love how the author brings her couples together. There may be instant attraction and fated mates' business, but she allows the relationships to grow over time.
This story starts off by introducing us to Shay, a Human-Lycan hybrid living with a Lycan pack. The alpha of the pack is Arlis, the younger brother of the VampLycan clan leader Trayis. Shay has known Trayis, from afar, for years. Trayis knows of her but doesn't really know her. On Trayis most recent trip to his brother's pack to welcome his new nephew, Shay makes a pact with her foster sister and best friend Marcia. She knows her best friend is in love with a pack member, Kale, and Shay agree to go after Trayis as she has always wanted if Marcia will finally confront Kale about her wants. Both girls follow through and both get some amazing surprises.

Trayis if VampLycan who comes to Shay's pack to see his half brother and new nephew. He's not looking for a mate but when Shay proposes a night together he's willing to play for a night.
Shay is half human, half were but she can't shift. She's the lowest ranking member of her pack and many wish she was dead. Because she can't control her ovaries like other weres the men either shun her or are shits to her. She has self worth issues but after making a pact with her best friend to go after the men they want she approaches Trayis.
They have a bumpy start but I love how Trayis always supports Shay and finds ways to support her. I also liked that the author gave Shay a back bone. She may have been the weakest member of the pack but was no pushover.
Some small editing issues but still a good read.

Yes, so much for a simple vacation and a one-night stand...
I'm a little surprised with this book... On the one hand, I'm almost disappointed by his inability to recognize his one true mate... And the explanation for that was a bit shaky, almost sad, especially after the 10 previous books in which we practically had an insta-mate, but with a struggle for some objective or non-objective reasons.
But on the other hand, he defended her like a lion.. or a lycan :) , put the noses down of the bombastic blonde trio, of whom unfortunately there are more and more in real life, kudos to him.
And her courage too, it took real kah**nes for that!
It's a shame that she still wasn't so brave, even a little scared and with low self-esteem, but he constantly encouraged her, so kudos to him for that too!
And so, we have completed the series, I have some questions still but... I'm a little sorry, but the trip was great!

Shay is shy, somewhat submissive by nature, and yet not cowed by those alpha vibes. She steps up to take what she wants in this, and is rewarded for it greatly.
Trayis is an intriguing character we met in a few earlier books, but the difference between him and the previous vamplycan heroes, is that Trayis is significantly older since he’s first generation!
You definitely want to have read the previous books in this series, if only because so many of the events and people in them are referenced in this book. Not that it’s a hardship- it’s an enjoyable series to read, with an interesting world, filled with intriguing characters.
A fun read for the paranormal romance lovers out there, VLG fans, and Laurann Dohner fans.

Nagyon jólesett visszatérni Dohner világába. Trayisra már Wen könyve óta kíváncsi voltam, nagyon izgalmas fickónak tűnt. És nem tévedtem. Amilyen makacsul eldöntötte, hogy neki nem kell pár és bőven jó lesz neki egyetlen éjszaka Shayjel, ahhoz képest elég hamar rájött, hogy nem egészen úgy mennek a dolgok, ahogy ő azt szeretné. Trayis és Shay nagyon jó kis párost alkotnak és imádtam, hogy a férfi milyen türelemmel viseltetett a lány félelmei iránt.
Jó volt újra találkozni Wenékkel és örülök, hogy Shay is végre rájött, hogy nem mindenki olyan idióta mint néhány falkatag a régi falkájában.
Kíváncsian várom a sokat emlegetett bíró és végrehajtó, Graves könyvét is. Biztos vagyok benne, hogy az se lesz semmi.

My one issue with this whole series is why are all the women human. I get it but why not let us have one or two people who can actually shift. The books are all about vampires, lycans and gargoyles and mixes of them but all of our female leads are human mixes who don't have any powers. Why? The one book that isn't like this is Glacier because the heroine from that book is a vampire and totally dope. The other female leads feel weak because they're constantly told that they are weak. I don't mind a female lead who can't keep up with the boys physically, but it's stupid that they don't have other strengths. The female leads never get away from the bad guy because they're smarter or because they use other aspects of a person. I don't know, the characters just feel pretty bland. Redson forever that's all I'm saying.

Como siempre maravilloso.
La saga de VLG es mi saga favorita de Laurann Dohner. Este libro apenas me ha durado una noche, literalmente empecé a leer a las tres de la mañana y no pare de leer hasta que lo termine sobre las siete. La historia de Trayis, de las once, es mi segunda favorita, la primera es la de Lorn. La verdad es que la trama es un poco predecible, cada pagina vas viendo como se va a desarrollar la historia y por ese mismo motivo no me ha hecho sentir como me hizo sentir el libro de Lorn.
Es un libro que sigue la línea de los libros de Laurann Dohner. Si amas la romántica sobrenatural,y buscas una historia que sea de lectura ágil y que te deje un buen sabor de boca esta es tu escritora. Una de mis favoritas.
