THE FEARSOME SEPARATIST GENERAL STRIKES! In his hunt to kill Jedi, GRIEVOUS stumbles across a power greater than he imagined. What secrets will the killer cyborg find inside a lost Jedi temple? Can Grievous strike a blow against the very FORCE itself?
Finally some Grievous, Luke Ross makes this worthwhile, the story was pretty short. I feel like those visions were connected to Darth Maul's one shot as well, perhaps a new upcoming crossover event? I hope so.
I'd gladly read an ongoing series with that arrogant android. Great story of Grievous killing Jedi masters, Jedi padawans, destroying Jedi temples, searching for artifacts and more meaning in the force than he gives it credit for and being Grievous. Amazing artwork as well.
Starring Grievous in an Indiana Jones adventure - but let’s face it, he’s Walter Donovan at best. Give this issue credit; the ending is one of those moments that touches the heart of Star Wars.
Brutal. Grievous doesn't mess around, but then we already knew that. Immediately kills a Jedi and then their Padawan. Then goes into the Jedi Temple they were seeking and tries to steal the Jedi secrets they were seeking. We don't really learn anything new here. He's not force sensitive(and he resents that), but he's a brutal character.
Qymaen jai Sheelal deserves way better. This comic is beyond awful and a true act of blatant disrespect to General Grievous.
Hard 1/5 star rating, 100%.
33% of this comic is Grievous swinging his lightsabers at a water fall, with the other 67% being minimal dialog/text - extremely empty vessel of a "comic".
Terrible!
No wonder this is a one-and-done and no more issues were made. Maybe this was a high school student's first comic book? If so - great job. But for an official Marvel? No way.
This felt too short. As someone who wants to know I bit more about Grievous' canonical origin, I find this a bit lacking. And I didn't like how normal Grievous' pre-cyborg face looked in a vision. Doesn't look menacing at all. And as a final issue to the Age of Republic series, I find this to be somewhat underwhelming. At least much of the art is good.
Probably my personal favorite of this series so far. I’m a fan of Grievous and any hints at his motivation and backstory are appreciated. He could be so much more than the one dimensional character he’s made out to be
I think that out of all of the Age of the Republic comics, this is going to be my favorite out of the first editions. It gave me more insight into a character that I felt I still knew so little about.
Being a one-shot, I was impressed how much grievous goodness Houser and Ross were able to cram in. Hopefully Marvel notices readers want more prequel era stories
General Grievous is one of my more favorite SW characters and I’m glad he got an issue all to his self. Liked the take on him interacting with the force. Really cool issue.
It’s a great way of making what is (admittedly) a 2-dimensional character have a bit more depth. He’s more than a mustache-twirling villain, and gets humbled by the ghosties.
I feel as if this touched on something interesting. It started well and I enjoyed the look into Grievous as a vain, insecure being, but felt it was lacking in narrative.
Jody Houser ends Age of the Republic with one fantastic issue about General Grievous.
Tracking a Jedi/apprentice pair to a remote planet, he finds a Jedi Temple and proceeds to vandalize it, escape its traps and rob its knowledge. But it's something he can't comprehend, an intangible force that shows him his past and his future. Maddened at it, Grievous answers with the only language he knows: violence.
Age of Republic was an incredible intense exploration of characters, one of the best series in a long time.
Brutal as ever is Grievous, murdering Jedi and taking their lightsabers as trophies. There was a creepiness to this comic, though short and it was interesting to see Grievous basically get regretted in a way.
