I'm a wild child. Trouble in a miniskirt. Until I fall back in time to the age of the Vikings.

Life has been a series of unexpected twists and turns. I’ve sinned, sure. Tell me a twenty-something girl who hasn’t. But I’ve paid the price too. I’m about done with the judgement and penance, almost ready to give everyone the middle finger, when my life takes an even crazier turn.

I’m transported from 1980s New York back through the mists of time to the rugged, merciless land of the Vikings.

The first person I come face to face with is the biggest, most intimidating man I’ve ever laid eyes on. He’s fierce. A warrior. We’re thrown together, forced to become battlefield allies. Until we become something else entirely.

Magnus. My Magnus. With his first touch, he owns my soul and shows me love I didn’t think was meant for girls like me.

I’ve committed the unforgivable sin of defying the Jarl.

My life is forfeit. My only choice is to run and I’m certain that I’m a dead man until a curious vision appears. A woman unlike any I’ve ever seen. She beckons me, guiding me to safety, keeping me until the danger has passed.

Heather is lovely. Soft but strong. Gentle but fierce. She appears at the very moment I’m sure all is lost, and together we forge a bond, fighting through danger to make a life together.

Our time as man and wife might not last as long as I’d wish. But when we’re blessed with a child, I can pass into Valhalla with one comfort…

Our love will always endure.

Author's Note: This is the 4th and final book in the Mists of Albion series and it is not intended to be read as a standalone. Although this novel has at its heart a love story between the two main characters, it includes themes of violence and loss and the HEA/ending is not traditional for romance.

All I can say is 5 stars for Magnus! ✭✭✭✭✭

This novel was so good it made cry- which is rare, and a wonderful thing in my little book world.

description

With the other chapters in the Mists of Albion series I gave them around 3 stars each because the adult h's read more like TSTL teenagers at times-

So yeah, while Heather was similar to that, and kind of bratty in the beginning- her journey with Magnus, and that ending just made me not really care about my little peeves or my lingering questions.
Le sigh. The power of a great book husband ya'll.

Ok so I don't say this lightly because I know this word can be thrown around but this book is epic. This is a beautiful telling of a love like no other and the life two people carve out for themselves. It's not just two people falling in love but their life; the ups and the down and being able to count on each other when there is no one else. This is one of those books that you finish and have no clue what to do with yourself or what to say. This book is just amazing and beautiful. If you haven't read this series I can't recommend it enough since book one I fell head over heals in love and with each book I became more hooked. Now that I have read this book I can say this is my favorite of them all.

After these four books I can also say that as of now this is my favorite new series I have read in a while and this is my favorite new author. I can't tell you how sad I am that this series is over, I'm not ready to say goodbye but I will say that this will positively be a re-read series for me, and I can't wait to see what this author writes next. We met Heather in book three and we see some of her and Magnus story but in this book we see them meet and fall in love and live. We see their happy and we also see their lowest moments that draw them even closer together. Their love is staggering.

Magnus is one of those special heroes, oh how I love him his sole reason for living is Heather, his sun raises and sets for no one else but her. Don't pick this book up with out at least reading book three, but honestly read them all, please read them all. Also read the authors notes. If you have already read the books up until this point then you have some idea of what's book will be about but whatever you think you are not prepared for this breathtaking story. This book doesn't end with a normal romance ending but I do believe this is a hea. This is one of those books that five stars will never be even close enough.

favorite quotes
"You smile," he whispered, his voice so low I could barely hear it. "Such a beautiful smile, my love. That smile has been the light of my life, do you know it?" "Yes", I nodded chocking with emotions. "Yes, yes." "It is right that you smile. It is not many who have a love like ours. Even when you put me in the ground, you will still have our love. Until the day I see you again, you will have it."

"I was almost sixty years old by then, and comfortable-even happy- with the idea that my days of love and adventure were over. When I looked back on my life, it was with clear eyes, Yes, I had suffered. But I was wise enough by then to understand that my suffering was never a punishment, that it was just the way things turned out for me. But I hadn't just suffered. I loved, too. And I was loved. And it was a great love, one of those loves that not even most of us get to experience. When I lay my head on the pillow at night, it was truly without regret or grievance in my heart."

After finishing this book all I can think of is reading this series all over again.

Gonna Go Back⏳ In Time....
Ragnar🐺🔪 is the second son of the Norse Jarl, so he will probably never be Jarl. Which is too bad, because the eldest son, Asger👹🔪, is a total screw up and a mean, vile, idiot. He will never be a leader of men.

Ragnar🐺🔪 is by far the best suited to be Jarl, but his father is stuck with Asger👹🔪, and his total lack of common sense and leadership ability is going to get some of the Vikings in their clan killed.

Heather💃💋 is a young woman from the present day of 1983, sent to live with her aunt in NY in disgrace. She is 22, which made no sense to me, but she has some family problems involving men. She leaves her aunt after being treated like a slave, and runs into the woods.
In the woods near her Aunts house is a time travel portal, and it takes Heather💃💋 back to the time of Ragnar🐺🍆🌋🔪, just as he gets in a knock down drag out fight with his worthless brother, Asger👹🔪.

ARC Received from HG for a Voluntary and Honest Review.

This is a slow moving, but well written and interesting book📑 about a young woman going back⏳ in time through a hidden portal, and ending up on the shores of ancient Scotland. The book is written for adult readers.

This book📑 contains three other complete Viking time travel romance novels. Eirik, Ragnar, and Ivar. Ragnar🐺🍆🌋🔪 is the fourth book.

Best of the series

This one kind of blends the other stories together and gives us Heather's story. She was the first to fall back in time. I don't think I've ever cried so much while reading a book I loved. Has some slow parts, but the ending was all I could have asked for. Lets just say you finally find out what happens after the girl gets the guy. Even with all the heartbreak, who wouldn't endure to have someone who loved you completely.

😱😍😥😅I can't praise this latest in Joanna Bell's time travel series too highly.
I was so looking forward to learning more of Heather's backstory after she became a secondary character in the previous novels in this terrific time travel romance series. I knew it would be good because Joanna Bell is a skilled writer with a winner series and the moves between present day New York and Viking invasion era Great Britain really drew me in. I love history and Bell makes the past come alive by giving a sense of the day to day routine along with the romance and drama. I hope the series continues because I just can't get enough!

All that said, this particular story was SO GREAT! Modern Heather, a lonely and misunderstood child of the 80's, finds her safe place in the harder life of tenth century Britain. Despite the brutality, disease and uncertainty of living crop to crop with the threat of invasion and war, her caring, tender and understanding Magnus brings love, passion and hope for a contented life. Deeply moving as the love between Heather and her Northman Magnus was, it was the heartbreaking moments that really blew me away. No spoilers, but this couple go through some life crushing tragedy, both together and individually.

The story is told in alternating POV for the main characters and I appreciated the insight into their internal struggles. And it was so satisfying that, despite her losses, Heather could end the story with a hopeful future. :-)

Yes, the book is named Magnus and I have gone on and on about Heather. Magnus is Heather's touchstone and he's almost perfect so, what can I say other than read the book and discover his perfection for yourself.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

Seasons of love

Magnus about broke my heart. This fourth novel in Joanna Bell's magnificent series, Mists of Albion, is both prequel and epilogue, yet it is fleshed out enough to be read as a standalone. Here at last is the story of Heather Renner, the first of the time travelers from River Falls 1983 to East Anglia circa 900. Her family doesn't want or love her, she's twenty-two, homeless, and friendless when she accidentally travels back to the era of the Viking raids on Great Britain's northeast coast. Meeting the Viking warrior Magnus, and hiding him from a vengeful older brother, is the start of a new life, in a new home, and the one true love of her life. Magnus and Heather's story is one for the ages. I don't write spoilers, so I will only say that this lifelong love story holds all the beauty, pathos, joy, and hardships of the times - and of life itself. You will smile, you will rejoice, and you will need tissues. That they learn to be happy through the seasons of life is their HFN, but there is more. Magnus (who promised his wife that he would always love and care for her - even after death) does indeed look after his Heather from beyond the grave, and his final gift to her will break your heart even as it delivers the promised HEA. Author Joanna Bell paints a stunning tapestry of the past in rich, somber colors, and lets her characters speak their passions, their fears, their joys and their hopes so truthfully that you cannot help but immerse yourself in this marvelous tale of a love that transcends all. I thank Hidden Gems for the ARC, and it is my voluntary, independent, and uncompensated opinion that Magnus, like the other books in this series, is a MUST READ.

Honest to God, Magnus is phenomenal!

I really wasn't going to read it. So I went online and checked the reviews to see if I was mistaken regarding my opinion. The first six reviews all said they loved it and totally worth reading. So course they also mentioned needing to be edited so I knew they were honest reviews, I downloaded immediately.

I loved, LOVED, and truly from the bottom of my heart, loved Magnus. He was such a realistic, it is what it is, just keeping it real. He loved his wife and fought with honor. Heather goes through all the stages of life within these papers. She starts off young and scared. To old and wise. She learned so much, and how to function enough to survive when you suffer from great loss. This story is unpredictable, filled with suspense, intrigue, true love, and romance that knows no boundaries. Yes it needs to be edited, why it hasn't been is beyond my comprehension. Happy Reading!

The last installment of the Mist of Albion series. The story absorbed me with the sad situations and deep emotions surrounding Heather and Magnus, the protagonists. Since Heather’s appearance in the series she had me intrigued. Could not put down the book with the interesting and detailed descriptions and narrations that make us know the perilous situations she got to survive. Lot of action, suspense, adventure, deadly fights, heated passion, violence and love. I like the intense, exciting and conflictive stories that awake my mind and emotions and think this one was a good one. The blurb says all. An interesting and well written story that I think was special.

❤️🗡❤️ Read it!!

Wow this series keeps getting better and better! This story is about Heather who is supposedly a troubled young adult sent to live with her her aunt and uncle for the summer. Heather ends up getting into a disagreement with aunt and uncle and leaves in the middle of night and ends up in another place completely.
I really liked this book because Heather is the first one to discovered the tree that transports to a different century. I believe Heather disappeared in around 1983ish, she was also mentioned in the previous book, which I also love. Great book with a couple of surprises throw in! Can’t wait to read the book!

Amazing ending to this series!!

This was an amazing boom which I read cover to cover in one sitting, unable to put it down! This is Heather's back Story, so if you have read book 3 you will have been introduced to Heather in a very astounding adventure .
With that said, this novel explains through both hers and her husband, Magnus' versions of how they met, and their many adventures throughout their marriage, and beyond! The ending is what brings this edition to the satisfying , heart-rending, tissue necessary ending! I highly recommend the series while still maintaining this to be my favorite !!

I liked the charaters, I liked the story and the description of the timeframe really made you feel that you were there. The writing was good. What I didn't enjoy was the flips between current time and the past. I found it very destructing and fought to finish the book because of it. I struggled with this review because I don't think it has to do with the writer but more my preferred style of writing. I think the story would have been better if it stayed in one time frame and not flipping back and forth. I received this book on an ARC for my honest review.

This is a very good addition to a good series. Joanna Bell's characters are believable and well-drawn. Heather is a character who appeared in Ivar. Heather's family treats her lower than dirt. When she finds herself 1,000 years in re past and meets Magnus, she decides to remain there. Heather's new life is far more primitive than to what she is accustomed. She learns to adapt. Her new life is filled with love, joy and pain. At times, it feels like a Greek Tragedy. This is a very good addition to a good series. It is do different from most time travel romances.

This book is the best ending to a series I have read!

Heather and Magnus's tale brought adventure, suspense, laughter, and an intensity of life lived fully. Please read this series in order. With the numerous mistakes of doubled verbs and left out words, I would not rate Joanna's novels with five stars; but her gift of drawing you into these books and truly feeling and understanding her characters makes a four-year rating far too low. Please pick up the series and enjoy both the 9th and 21st centuries!

I have loved reading the Mists of Albion series of stories, all of which I've read twice. Joanna Bell has created lead characters that can only be described as special. Eirik - The Sage, Ragnar - Emotionally immature, Ivar - Brave & adaptable, Magnus - he is more special than the rest and his story absolutely tears at your heart for the things that he & Heather endured. I needed a few tissues for this one. Some tears of joy.

Thank you Joanna Bell for stories I will never tire of reading.

This was an interesting conclusion to the series. Heather had been introduced as an older character in book 3, so it took a little bit for me to get my head around this being her complete story. I really did like hearing about Heather and Magnus and all the things they went through during their time together. Yes, I felt a bit sad that there was not a typical HEA ending, but it certainly brought closure to all the loose pieces that have been introduced in this plot.

I want more!

I loved this whole series! The first book was a little slow at first but soon picked up and I was hooked! I love how the books have characters from the other books that connect and you can see where they are.
I would love to see more, maybe Emma's sister or Maria. Joanna Bell is now on my list of preferred authors.

Beautifully written.

This is now my favorite.
Such a beautiful love story. It's not one of those happily ever after stories. In fact their is so much heartbreak I was begging the author not to hurt them anymore. Just like in real life, it's not fair, but we have no choice but to go on!

The Best In The Series

This is the best of the Mists of Albion books but, read them in order to get the full impact.

A modern girl, lost & unloved. A “Northman” from the 9th century. Their love, passion, loss, triumphs, hopes and dreams. A rich tapestry and a seemingly sad ending. You have to read this one to truly appreciate the depth of the storytelling skills of this author.

Great

I loved this story. When I started to read it, I thought it would be boring because it's storyline occurs before the third book really. But the more I read, the more appealing it became. I think this was the best one of the four.

Great book

I loved every word of this book but I also couldn’t stop crying at certain parts of this book. It did have a HEA but not the one I would have liked..... you’ll understand if you read it, but I understand why it couldn’t be that way. But like I said great book!
