Peep Show by Isabella Starling is a book that I knew I had to have as soon as I read the blurb. That cover didn’t hurt either! A romance that includes a sexy, tattooed hero with mental health issues, voyeurism, and dark scenes? Yes, please!

 photo 2uiy82v_zpsb1wvqerg.gif

Bebe gets home from a night of partying to see her neighbor, Miles, plowing into a woman against the window of his apartment. Instead of turning away, she decides to watch. When he catches her, he lets her know that he more than approves, and so begins their unique relationship!

 photo giphy-98_zpskkipxdj9.gif

From day 1, Miles and Bebe feel an unexplainable and undeniable connection to one another. Miles fights it as best he can to spare Bebe from having to deal with his particular “issues.” Not only is he agoraphobic, but he also has a myriad of other emotional problems and odd behaviors that plague him on daily basis. They prevent him from living a normal life, and he doesn’t want to burden Bebe with any of it. What he doesn’t realize is Bebe has plenty of issues of her own and being with him may be just what they both need to become whole again.

When this book popped up on my kindle, I was beyond excited! Just imagining what I might encounter while reading it had me damn near drooling before I even read the first page! In some ways it was exactly what I expected, and in others, it wasn’t at all. I knew I was going to get hot sex and a broken hero, but I didn’t anticipate the extent of Miles’ mental health issues or the train wreck that is Bebe Hall.

Miles O’Reilley intrigued me right away, and my fascination with him never faded. Bebe is somewhat of a different story. I had trouble liking her at first. I tried to tell myself that she was grieving and not just a spoiled little bitch, but it was a struggle. I’m not going to lie. I never hated her, but she seemed like such a self-centered, overdramatic mess most of the time. However, as the story went on, I was able to see Bebe as the incredibly sad and lost woman she was and sympathize with her. Not only that, I adored the way she whole heartedly accepted Miles without judgement and tried to help him the best she could.

Miles and Bebe are so far from emotionally stable that it’s a wonder either of them could ever turn their life around at all let alone together, but that’s exactly what happens. It happens a bit too easily, but they are still a work in progress. There is a few things that I wish would have been delved into a little deeper, but otherwise, I loved the way everything ended up.

 photo original-8_zps8ga1iyt0.gif

I literally couldn’t put this book down. It's so hot and fucked up that my eyes were glued to the page from beginning to end. Isabella Starling’s writing is addictive and mesmerizing. The characters she created will make you feel a variety of emotions as their story unfolds. Whether you wind up loving them or hating them, there is not doubt that you will FEEL something. This is not a book that leaves you feeling indifferent. It’s a book that may make you uncomfortable, turned on, disgusted, or emotional. Some scenes may leave your mouth hanging open for any number of reasons, but it’s a not a story you will easily forget. I promise you that!

Peep Show is an intense, dark romance filled with pain, passion, and kink. If you’re a fan of dark romance, this author’s work, or characters with more issues than Vogue, I recommend this one to you!

I hated it at first, but am glad I stuck with it!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧
Romance: 💋💋💋💋
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📙📕📗📘
World building: 🌎🌏🌍🌎
Character development: 👨🏻👱🏻‍♀‍🧔🏻👩🏻

The heroine: Bebe Hall - she is a party girl of the first order, the “it” girl on the clubbing scene. She goes out to dance, get drunk and pick up guys on the regular. She is beautiful but insecure. She uses booze, drugs, and men to forget and block out the horrible thoughts in her head.

The Hero(es): Miles Reilly - He is agoraphobic and has OCD. He has a fear of germs that is so bad he bathes with bleach in the water. He is a famous photographer and an alpha dominant. He likes to ruin girls and then take their picture, and he has no problem getting volunteers.

The Story: Bebe and Miles see each other through their respective windows while each of them are in a compromising position and both keep watching night after night. They quickly end up talking on the phone and both want more, but Miles doesn’t ever leave his apartment and doesn’t want Bebe to know about his issues.

I picked this book because I like very dark books with dominant men and taboo situations. Though I almost threw it in my DNF pile early on. Both main characters were with other people multiple times before they meet in person and watched each other through their windows.

I don’t know if I am getting to be a bit of a prude in my advancing age or maybe I am becoming a germaphobe. I just don’t like it much when the main characters sleep around a lot. Also I didn’t like Miles at first because he was the kind of dominant that calls the woman crass names and demeans them. I know a lot of people like that but I am not a fan.

Though it wasn’t long before I really started to like both characters. Miles was so damaged and knew that his phobia’s were ruling his life and that the things he does would probably put him in the nut house if anyone knew the extent.

Bebe is just at damaged but in a different way. One of her two best friends died over six months ago of a drug overdose and she is doing everything she can to forget. She is spinning out of control and she knows it but can’t stop. These two damaged people come together and it is over the top dark and steamy.

I really enjoyed both narrators. Z.A. Martin had the perfect voice for Miles, it was deep and not too refined, he even had a hint of a lisp, though not bad enough to detract from his allure. He might be a wealthy photographer but he sounded natural when cursing or talking about sex. Some male narrators sound to stiff and stilted when they are reading that kind of thing. Lauren Sweet has a great voice for a female protagonist, not too young sounding and not too old, with enough intelligence to fit the character.

Peep Show is about two damaged and broken souls, Miles and Bebe, who happen to meet under unique circumstances. I knew going into this story that it was going to be unconventional and possibly uncomfortable, but boy, I never expected what I got.

Let’s start with the characters. They are two of the most fucked-up MCs I’ve ever read. They start out by watching each other screw other people from their respective apartments across the street. OK then, they hardly know each other so whatever floats their boats, fine. Then they amp it up to phone sex and they both start to have feelings for the other. (Not sure why, especially since Miles is kind of a dick that constantly shuts down all of her advances in pretty rude ways.) So what does Miles do? He tells Bebe to expect a surprise and to be at her window for it.

At this point I’m super suspicious of his intentions because he’s got issues, and I was rightfully worried. The surprise? He has a threesome with some chick and her boyfriend, making Bebe watch them, knowing and enjoying her jealousy.

But what’s worse is that Bebe hangs the fuck around and watches despite her anger and jealousy and doubts about why he won’t touch her but feels the need to treat her that way.

Bitch! Get the fuck outta there. Show him the goddamn door or something. I don’t care if he’s got a huge dick and is oh so sexy or whatever, he’s an asshole that’s trying to push you away. Let him, because he doesn’t deserve you.

After that whole debacle, Miles turns from voyeur to stalker by going into her apartment while she’s incapacitated from drugs and alcohol, all on the pretense that her door is unlocked and he’s worried for her safety.

Miles finds his anxiety and panic attacks increasing because he fears his feelings for Bebe. So what does Prince Charming go and do this time? Well, he tells Bebe to expect another surprise at 9pm that night.

She’s excited and dolls herself up thinking he’s going to show up. But nooooope. 9pm rolls around and two men she’s never met before show up on her doorstep, push their way into her apartment, gag her and force themselves on the unsuspecting Bebe. All the while, Bebe sees Miles watching the two men RAPING her from his window. [And it is rape, but the word is conveniently avoided to, in my opinion, make it more acceptable to the reader for Bebe to forgive Miles. Just because she gets wet doesn’t mean she wants it. She sobs and cries and fights back, but the author presents it as a kinky sex game and it pissed me off.] But Miles gets jealous that, you know, Bebe is getting raped by fucking two other men. The men he sent.

Miles proceeds to beat the men to bloody pulps and tries to comfort Bebe. And. She. Lets. Him. And then? He finally screws her. Not even an hour after she was raped by two men he hired.

BTW, it’s never mentioned how Miles found these guys, but he certainly didn’t know them and it seems like he simply hired two strangers off the internet. Who fucking puts the woman they’re in love with at risk with two strangers just to convince themselves that they don’t care.

Being agoraphobic and having depression and anxiety is no excuse. He’s a monster.

The story had some plot holes and was sorely lacking in logic, particularly when it came to the bleach bath sex scene. Yes, they fuck in a bathtub full of water and bleach.

I’m no chemist, but I do know that bleach is a caustic substance that erodes tissue and continues to long after contact. Now, can you imagine the damage fucking in a bleach bath would do to a mucosal body part such as a vagina??

The book should come with a DISCLAIMER: DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME.

Both Miles and Bebe have issues, but I wasn’t convinced that their histories realistically shaped their behaviors. Especially Miles’. His justifications for his actions are weak and I don’t think he was redeemable. At least the writing and editing were on point. And that cover... damn.

I need to go wash the filth off, now.

Isabella Starling and I have had a rocky relationship ... I loved Pet until I hated it. Teach me Daddy was pretty good until it wasn’t. Christmas Captive was alright and I loathed Sugar Plum.

So far, Peep Show has been fascinating and Miles and Bebe have totally sucked me into their broken, fucked up interactions.

I love them both so much. The way they need each other, constantly reaching but emotionally unattainable. Literally neighbors but they couldn’t be more far away.

She’s such a goddam mess, proof that it doesn’t matter how much you have or how beautiful you are. So many regrets and not enough love has turned her into a party girl with a death wish.

And he’s even more fucked up, there’s so many skeletons in his closet it’s overflowing. You really feel like his issues are unavoidable with no cure. Even though I want Bebe to be the cure but really he can’t have her until he figures out his shit.

I can’t remember the last time I rooted this hard for a couple, fictional or otherwise.

So I’m fairly familiar with mental health and all it entails, I’ve even suffered a few anxiety attacks myself. But there’s a small part of me that thinks that while Miles suffering was mostly believable, some of it got to be overly dramatic.

I started to lose my affection for the characters as we neared the end because I didn’t believe their love for one another because it felt superficial.

Overall it was a rollercoaster of crazy, obviously steamy af and gritty which is what I come to expect from this author. I just wish it was less dramatic and more emotional.

This is NOT romance!

Per the blurb and excerpt, this contains both #2 (Hero Has Sex w/OW Scene) and #3 (Heroine Sees the Hero Having Sex w/OW...and it turns her on) on my most over-used and unromantic tropes in romance list.

Reading this book does not make one brave! Enough w/these insulting warnings!
"Peep Show is a 90,000 word novel with themes of voyeurism and dark scenes that may be upsetting to readers. If you are brave enough, come meet Miles. He's been waiting for you."

This story is not romance; it might be erotica (nope, not even sure about that). It sounds more like a psychological drama/erotic thriller. But it most certainly is NOT romantic, nor should the content be romanticized.

Update: As if sex scenes with other people isn't bad enough, the H has the h raped by 2 other strangers!!! Disgusting, appalling, and unforgivable! Books marketed in the 'romance' genre need to quit contributing to a rape culture. RAPE IS NOT ROMANTIC!

Bebe Hall is a twenty-something party girl lost in her own fears and emotions. Trying to escape the pain but also feel like she belongs, Bebe focuses on her own pleasure and fun. It isn’t until one night when she witnesses the pleasure another woman feels at the hands of her neighbor when sh becomes intrigued. Not one to walk away from danger, Bebe tests the limits.

“I DARE YOU TO GO NEXT.”

Miles Reilly is man who enjoys controlling his environment. Upon noticing he has an audience, Miles doesn’t shy away but rather clearly communicates his willingness to connect with another. While he guarantees to provide quite the show, there is much more to Miles than what he presents.

“I wanted to know what she tasted like with me inside her. I wanted to know how sweet that cunt was after I’d forced orgasm after orgasm out of it.”

Told in dual POV, the characters of Miles and Bebe evoke an immediate emotional response. At first, Bebe is easy to dislike due to her socialite lifestyle without much regard for what really counts. However, as more is revealed, it becomes apparent why Bebe is makes such irresponsible decisions and she earns more respect as she confronts her vulnerability. With Miles, he has much to hide and doesn’t want to burden Bebe with his own problems, but he soon finds reason to break from his shell.

“Why do you fucking insist on avoiding the problem when it’s staring you straight in the face?”

Between Miles and Bebe the sexual chemistry is off the charts with both not having many limits when it comes to pleasure. While there are steamy scenes, the story also evolves into multiple layers depicting how circumstances can be the impetus for self-protective behavior. For me, reading what Miles endured was heartbreaking but it’s also a realistic view at how fragile humanity can be at times. I also liked how he seemed to powerful on the outside while inside he was filled with pain.

When starting Peep Show, I expected an erotic novel and it certainly delivered on that aspect, but it also conveyed a range of emotion with two characters that are shattered but not beyond mending.

For those looking for incredibly sexy times but also a plot that makes you empathize on many levels with the characters, I recommend Peep Show.

This book was so intense! It grabbed me from the start and never let me go.

This is the story of two broken people, Miles and Bebe. They are pretty messed up due to past experiences. These two lost souls found and healed each other through love and that makes this story precious. This book was dirty, honest and so beautiful at the same time.

I had conflicting emotions with this book and I loved that! This story challenged me like no other story I’ve read before and for that alone this book will stay with me.

I don’t want to go into too much detail cause I don’t want to spoil it for you, but I have to say this book had more depth than what I was expecting and that was a welcome surprise. Yes, its pretty hot and sexy but it‘s so much more than that.

I have to say though, this book is not for everyone. But if you don’t mind some questionable situations I highly recommend it. I know this review is not very clear in some aspects (like the triggers) but I really don’t want to give it away. I know some people will need to know what these triggers are before deciding if this book is for them, so you are more than welcome to send me a PM and I’ll help you out without ruining the story for you :)

Overall this was a great book that pushed my boundaries and challenged me, even though it made me feel uncomfortable at times it was so well written I couldn’t stop reading. This is my first book by this author but it sure won’t be my last.

Genre: Dark Erotic Romance
Type: Standalone
POV: First Person - Dual
Rating:

Bebe Hall was an It girl on a path of self destruction. While her life revolved around wild partying with the in crowd, deep down she needed something more. She thought she found it when he saw the neighbor across the building.

Miles Reilly's life was contained to his apartment. He had everything he needed within his four walls. But when Bebe started to pay attention, the feeling was mutual. However he had to figure out how to get what he wanted without losing who he was.

First I just want to say that the cover is yummy lol! And I think it's a good representation of the hero.

I didn’t understand. Why wasn’t she running? If she knew what was good for her, she should fucking run.

Miles was someone I found easy to love. He had a lot of issues he had to overcome. He might look hard and intimidating on the outside, but inside was a pile of broken pieces.

Being vulnerable for him was the easiest thing in the world. Opening myself up to him was easier than spreading my legs every night for a different man.

Bebe on the other hand was someone easy to hate. Sometimes it was painful and sad seeing the way she lived her life. But I also think her fragility was part of her charm.

I like how the story started as something sexy/dirty but later delved deeper into issues that plagued the characters. And speaking of sexy and dirty, the sex scenes were hot and intense. I like the story overall, but I felt there was one scene that was out of place and unexplained.

The tears were spilling but Miles kept fucking, and I kept letting go for him until my body started going limp, my eyes threatening to shut completely and my legs kicking aimlessly at the bedsheets.

Peep Show centered on the life of two broken people finding solace in each other. It would appeal to fans of dark erotic romance.

So 2020 i said ill venture out in my reading.. i didn't see the reviews, i knew this was a dark romance and ill be honest the coverrrrr sang to me.. but lord i stop after a scene i read...

I read dark romance and i think i found my limit.. Miles send over 2 guys to rape Bebe.. NOW my ass is like maybe this is rapeplay???
NOPEEEE

Also before that Miles was a dick.. bebe sees him for the first time and he fking ow.. so this starts their relationship they are both turned on.. and many dares happen.. now my dumbass thinks maybe just them two doing kinky stuff together.... nope Miles always hurting bebe and Bebe sometimes hurting Miles.. and he sets her up and she has to watch him have a threesome... i felt so bad for bebe since she was having some sorta wired connection with this guy and he keeps on being rude and an asshole.. Im like GIRL FKING LEAVEE YOU DONT NEED THIS!!!

But nope Bebe is a dumbass as still watches the threesome all angry and jealous... and Miles he tells her again one night he has a surprise for her.. and THIS IS WHERE I DRAW THE LINE..

MILES SEND OVER 2 GUYS TO RAPE BEBE.. his reason he was scared of how their relationship was going.. so now the author tries to make it seem like a sex game but no Bebe DIDNT know what was happening who these men are as the raped her.. it doesn't matter she got wet HE STILL HAD HER RAPED!! It wasn't BEBE FANTASY TO BE RAPED.. and don't make excuses that it was miles fucked up mind.. no excuse...

I stop.. i couldn't finish the rest of the book..and see the aftermath.. why did i rate it 1 star.. just for the hawt cover.. that is it...

I was hooked from page one. My God, the cover alone is hot as hell.

Peep show is a dark, twisted, powerful, incredible story. You will be taken on a roller coaster of emotions.

Bebe is a party girl trying to dull the pain from a tragic event.
Miles is Alpha, a millionaire photographer. He has his demons to deal with, including phobias which he doesn’t leave his apartment.

Peep show starts off with Bebe watching Miles have sex in his apartment . after he is done he writes her a note and hold it up saying “ I dare you to go next. That sexy scene alone, All I can say is. OH MY!!!! . The sex scenes are scorching hot.
There both broken, but fit well with each other . Very well written and on my favorite shelf.

It was intense, violent, deeply troubling and still very addictive.

I think what really got me into the book was the hero being a photographer and that it dealt with mental health. The last one was a central part of the story, even if rough and violent sex (and partly so unhealthy at the end, even MY intimate bits itched) was another big part of it. The photography part was a bit ridiculous, but okay, I didn't really expect too much there.

The author did a wonderful build up, I really felt for those two, even if they were hard to like in the beginning. The heroine, Bebe, was a a broken girl, who came over as a bit shallow at first. She was a perfect antiheroine and the good writing made me want to know more about her. She did grow at the end. The hero, Miles, was intense and very damaged, his mental struggles were portrayed painfully realistic. I liked him - and being in his head.

Some moments in the middle or toward the end will probably disgust and appal you... I kind of expected it (after reading spoilers), and it fit perfectly into the messed up story, so I went with it.

But what didn't sit quite well with me, was the last part and the way the characters apparently started their journeys toward healing. It didn't feel like a stable change, more like a manic episode maybe... Because mental struggles of such capacity do not change over two nights (or in a week). I mean, I was glad and hopeful for them, sure, but after very graphic and detailed realities of a serious mental distress in the first half of the book, the ending felt a little like sweeping of everything under the rug.
I guess I just wanted a bit more - I wanted to really see those two get better and find some kind of stability... And even though there were lots of inner monologues, I did not quite believe them. Maybe because of the time frame, it felt too short and too sudden. But maybe it's just me.

Some inconsistencies... The condoms were there, then they disappeared - and it happened several times. The moment when the therapist showed up in Miles' home, was weird and unnecessary, it gave nothing to the story, really.

All in all. An intense and dark story of two broken people finding each other - and fitting perfectly. So the romantic in me is kinda happy about it. Plus it was hot, so I'll probably read more by the author. Maybe not soonish though.

Have you ever come up on something so wrong and so terrible but you couldn't just look away? Yeah, that is exactly how I felt about this book.

I was excited to read this book. It promised me voyeurism and kink. It promised me dark and twisty. But what I got was a whole lot of -

If you don't want to reveal what is behind the spoiler tag, it is basically me just ranting about the gaping plot holes, unrealistic characters, and the ridiculous storyline. My opinion seems to be an unpopular one so don't let me turn you away from this book if you really want to read it. Don't say I didn't warn you, though!

(I really felt extra generous giving the extra 0.5)

(LET ME RANT PLS I BEG)
me thinking i'll read hot smut....

This book is just
One dumb bitch plus one dumber bitch making a glorious perfect couple.

I never saw the girls I fucked beyond the night they spent bouncing on my cock.
If I fucked this one, she’d be right across the street—forever.

Miles Reilly was a photographer. He would take photos of women in their most vulnerable state and responsive to an intense thing like sex...music etc.
For him it was sex.
He would fuck women and then have them pose for him right after. He would then alter the photographs and create a double exposure with a photo that he thinks the woman would fit in.
Miles had a troubled past where his father killed himself when he was very young and his mother died of cancer.

Now for the main plot of the book.
Miles was a germophobe.
He had troubles getting out of the apartment and would scrub his whole place after a fucking a woman. He even took bleach baths to help him feel a sense of clean because all his life growing up he lived in a dirty trailer park.
Even though this man had everything against dirty things there was a little room in his place full of dirt and rotten vegetable peels and pizza boxes and all that junk. So whenever he would get a panic attack or whatever Miles would just sneak in into that place for....a feeling of belonging.

I stumbled into my bedroom, giggling to myself and shaking on too-high heels and too much vodka.

Bebe was a party girl who lived on a booze. Three months ago her bestfriend/ lover died of an overdose. Now she's going out and fucking a new man everyday and taking drugs because it was her way of grieving.

One day coming back from a party she saw her neighbor (Miles) fucking a woman by the window and well...she rubs herself off looking at them. She looks up at them again and guess who is looking back at her... *Drumrolls please*
Miles of course.

After each of their pov's first two chapters .......EVERYTHING in this book hurt me on a physical level.

Let me take you on a fucking stroll ya'll.

It took the both of them like two meetings through their apartment windows to fall in love with each other. And man when i tell you love....i mean love love. First time she saw miles fucking a woman......the next Bebe gave Miles a show of her getting fucked by the window.
And by the third time they went

Another big issue i had with this book was the lack of spine in Bebe like bestieeeeeeeeeeee DONT
and believe me i LOVE begging and all but don't get so low for that man pls it hurts me so hard. That man ain't worth shit.

Miles bought a camera for her and what the camera would see would directly be shown to him.
THAT my lord is the only thing that made sense to me in here and was sexy.

i want to know everything about her
How she held herself when she walked; how her tits bounced.
How she smiled at others.
What she ate for lunch. How often she pissed.
I wanted to know every fucking thing about her

THEN DO SOMETHING YOU DIPSHIT
This man sent a guy to stalk Bebe to keep tabs on her and bring anything back to him if she leaves anything behind.... receipts , paper ...anything.
She left her cardigan somewhere and the guy bought it back to Miles and man he sniffed and smelled the piece of fabric like anything.

Bebe almost overdoses drowning in her grief. And that made him leave the fucking shrine of his apartment.
and he brings her back home and instead of just being there this man leaves for a walk out in the air... like bitch before this point you HATED going out and it was suffocating and scary and now when you have a fucking reason to stay you fly away from the fucking scene. She leaves before he comes back AND MAN IS RELIEVED.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE FOR YOUR GIRL HERE. THE SCENE WHERE I S C R E A M E D

Surprise for you tonight. Be ready at 9 p.m. sharp. There will be a knock on your door.

I’ll be ready. Can’t wait to see you. xoxo

Oh my little dumb Bebe....
That man texts her about a "surprise". And my lil lovestruck baby thought he'd come to meet her.
But no this man sent two guys to fuck her while he watched....
All of that while his inner monologue said she is his and he loves her and he's obsessed with her.
And after they fuck her senseless that man barges in like the motherfucking superman he is and beats the shit out of the guys and tells her she's his and he'll make it all fine.

"Now, every time you do this, I’m getting in with you. And you’ll only have yourself to blame if I get hurt.”

She makes it a promise that she'll help him get over his.. issues.
And i have never laughed so hard ya'll THIS BITCH ISTG

After a bad panic attack he gets this urge for a bleach bath and that's okay.
And instead of making him understand how it's bad for him or finding a sensible way to help avoid this situation.
And this bitch just joins him in there and tells him that now she too will take a bleach bath everytime he does and then if she gets hurt he got only himself to blame.
Like man .... how can you be such an idiot because that is not something he does for fun..he has a PROBLEM and over that you were like "cmon baby feel some guilt over there too now because if i get hurt like that it'll be your fault"

*deep breaths and centering myself*
Not for me i'm sorry
And man i tried liking it, i did try so hard but nuh uh.
There's a hundred things i can list.

The woman was too dumb for me. I like my hoes with a backbone i'm sorry. because that man pushed her away and away and away and all she did was beg for him to not to.

And the man was straight up coward.
Because when you say you love someone you try to be better for them and for yourself. I understand he had a problem but no.
You do not send other guys to fuck her and you sure as fuck do not try and fucking leave behind her back without a conversation when she's grieving for one friend and the other is in the hospital and she needs YOU just because you think she's better off without you.

i am tired.

his journey, his actions and his decisions put me on a rollercoaster of emotions. one minute, my heart broke for him and for all the pain he endured. then one minute later, he angered me with the way he treated bebe. yes, I'm talking about that scene, and he's irredeemable because of it. enough said.

She sobs and cries and fights back, but the author presents it as a kinky sex game and it pissed me off.] But Miles gets jealous that, you know, Bebe is getting raped by f*cking two other men. The men he sent.

-- from PointedlyBlunt's review
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Kinky sex games and couples acting out rape fantasies still requires mutual consent in order for them to actually be games/fantasies. Since she didn't give consent and was sexually assaulted by two men while this POS zero watched (he set the whole thing up), this is rape all the way.

And this aspect defies logic and sanity:

The story had some plot holes and was sorely lacking in logic, particularly when it came to the bleach bath sex scene. Yes, they f*ck in a bathtub full of water and bleach. I’m no chemist, but I do know that bleach is a caustic substance that erodes tissue and continues to long after contact. Now, can you imagine the damage f*cking in a bleach bath would do to a mucosal body part such as a vagina??

Caiu totalmente no meu conceito!!!

DETESTEI!

Peep Show rocked in it's own dysfunctional, dark, screwed up way! BeBe - screwed up party girl and socialite on the road to destruction and Miles - reclusive photographer with a litany of mental health issues are neighbours across the street from one another.

Bebe sees Miles having sex a couple of times through the windows to the apartments and wishes it was her there with the handsome stranger. Miles catches her watching and develops his own fixation on Bebe. Eventually these two come face to face despite of a pretty large road block and things develop into a rocky, sexy, dysfunctional fucked up obsession for both. And on the story goes...

I loved the character of Miles, even given a really large reprehensible mistake he made. To see someone so viral and good looking who was so weakened and helpless given his demons yet so badly wanted to have some human touch with the world was heartbreaking and fascinating at the same time.

Bebe took a little more to get into but eventually I saw the broken, lost girl she was and watching her step up to the plate was worth it. The one thing I LOVED was the introduction of a word at the beginning of each chapter with it's definition - it was a unique touch.

I loved this screwed up, dysfunctional, rough world with these screwed up characters. And I love Isabella Starling so 5 stars it is!!!

Overall I liked Peep Show. It was okay. I’m a fan of dark/twisted and yes Peep Show has some dark elements which I enjoyed. Also the sex scenes were hot and dirty. The first couple of chapters were fabulous. I was especially intrigued with Miles. He’s a damaged man let me tell you. He’s struggling with mental health issues and I liked how they were incorporated into the story. The cover in particular captures it.
Bebe is also a damaged woman who’s trying to escape her past by having sex with strangers. She’s a character I struggled with and as the story progressed so became Miles because of his choices and actions towards Bebe. One scene deemed him irredeemable in my eyes and over the top. I would have appreciated more of fight and confrontation from Bebe but she lets Miles of the hook.
They find comfort in one another but it’s a difficult road they both embark on and nothing is as it seems. Both Bebe and Miles soon realizes that.

The writer says in the blurb:

If you are brave enough, come meet Miles. He's been waiting for you.

Really? Am I supposed to be brave to read this?

Nope nope nope, I just need to be god damn out of my mind to read it!!!! No, thank you!

TRRIGER WARNING FOR: RAPE, SEXUAL ABUSE, DRUG USE AND ABUSE, AND EATING DISORDERS

This novel was basically a concoction of everything bad in this world. It contains the most dysfunctional and destructive relationship I've ever read about. (And I thought High and Lo's relationship was bad. They were a match made in heaven compared to Miles and Bebe).

I did not enjoy reading this. There was no plot whatsoever and the characters just kept contradicting themselves. Overall, I wished I DNFed it and focused on other books.

Having sex in a bleach bath is a hard limit for me. Didn't think that would be on my 2023 reading bingo card but here we are 🤷

This book started off interesting, I actually really like the voyeurism trope and didn't have issues with the H sleeping with other women at the start, in fact these scenes were the only sexy scenes in the entire book.

As we moved into the story Bebe absolutely pissed me off, she's a spoilt rich girl with no life ambitions even before her friend died and was just a shitty friend and person, I couldn't feel an ounce of sympathy for her.

Miles, I felt a lot more sympathy for him but he also annoyed me, especially when he sends two dudes over to Bebe's house to essentially brutally rape her. I guess you could call it CNC if you want but the whole scene was gross and then Miles comes to her "rescue" when he realises one of the guys is purely sadistic and will probably, I don't know...kill her???. Yes, the guy who organised for her to be raped by two dudes is the "hero" who rescues her and the ick doesn't end there, straight after showering her Miles and Bebe have sex for the very first time. The romance!!

That's the thing I guess, this book isn't a romance. It's a story about two really fucked up people who probably need 1000 hours of therapy each and not to be dating each other.

There were other little things throughout this book that grated on me, like the fact that condoms were mentioned then they were gone and cum was dripping out of someone. The spelling of Miles' last name changed several times from Reiley to O'Reiley. Some of the sex scenes were written in ways that made no physical sense or were confusing to visualise.

Overall, I didn't enjoy this book but I had seen some reviews that said to stick with it and that Bebe got better but for me it wasn't enough.

I have been reading Isabella Starling's books off & on since she started publishing. This book shows the growth she has accomplished in both her writing & personal matters. My hats are off to her for being willing to expose an internal pain, thatai only those having been through it can understand! You are an amazing woman Isa!!!

This story is about a young woman bent on destroying herself one night at a time. Her name is Bebe Hall & she is the current it girl of NYC's most popular night clubs. She is attempting to mentally check out & run away from a painful lose that she doesn't know how to let go of. Miles O'Reilly is a famous photographer who lives across the street from Bebe & notices her watching one afternoon while he has female company. He pleasantly surprised when Bebe doesn't turn away but actually watches him have sex with his play toy of the day. But Miles suffers from some debilitating phobias that keep him locked away in his apartment. The connection that Miles & Bebe make from watching each other grows strong & they both have to fight to survive obstacles that are thrown in front of them. Will their desires for one another win or will their isolated hells keep them away from one another?

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book.

The blurb itself is very unappealing.
The warning: stupid and I also agree with Book Bosomed it’s also insulting.
I could list a few things that make a person “brave enough “ and reading a book is not one of them.
I may feel interested in reading a book but if I see a “warning “ like that my interest is gone.

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

And why not adding RAPE to the mix? By not only one, but 2 guys?? Set up by the hero who’s also forgiven on the spot?? So enticing, and romantic.
NO, IT’S NOT. IT’’S SICK AND DISGUSTING AND GAGGING INDUCING

i can’t explain to you how bad this is.

like the only thing this book does successfully is make you chant “i hate men” in your head at every sentence you read.

💗💗this review contains sexual content💗💗

this was supposed to be a smutty book with mental health which i thought was interesting.

i felt like a plot line about someone using sex as a copying mechanism for their mental problems was intriguing and relatable for many people nowadays.

but this book was not it. absolutely not.

first off the chatacters where meh. the mc was pretty ok. not bad not good. just so so.

but the GUY…on my murder list.

he’s so DUMB and IMMATURE AND SICK IN THE HEAD. like i’m not talking mentally struggling bc of actual shit.

nono.

you get his perspective in the book and the way he speaks about women is so ⁉️⁉️ HORRIBLE
SCARY SHOCKING CONCERNING BAD???

his inner monologue is like “aw she’s crying bc the this girl that was the love of her life committed suicide? omg this makes me hard”

also he sent a 2 guys over to her house to practically rape her…all bc he was scared about how much he liked her 🙂🙂🙂

then when he has to comfort her after that…NOPE

also the guy is so pathetic.

i’m not talking pathetic bc he shows emotion no.

pathetic as in crying if she doesn’t say she belongs to him and will forever be his little fuck-doll.

“My tongue claimed her mouth with desperate, needy motions to tell her who she belonged to”

what. the fuck. 😋😋😋😋

“It was always supposed to be this way.
Because the monster never ends up with the princess”

poor baby 😞🥺🥺🥺💔

“i felt him go past my cervix”

that’s not physically possible babe 💝

“Bebe,” I growled back. “Stop. Fucking. Fighting. Me. You’re mine.”
“I’m not!” she screamed.
“You are!” I yelled. “Mine. Mine. Fucking. MINE!”

this was after she rejected his kiss 🙂🙂🙂

if you’re attracted to this like i’m so worried about you. like we all have our problems and kinks but pleaaaseeeee this man is such a piece of shit.

“My heart broke for her, and I cursed myself a thousand times inside my raging head”

kys. you LITERALLY SENT TWO MEN TO HER APPARTMENT TO RAPE HER AND NOW SHES A A MESS IN TEARS AND YOURE MAKING IT ABOUT YOU OH MY GODDDD.

“Miles!” I cried out, my fists slamming his chest. “Miles, too deep!”
“Shut up,” he groaned, his free hand grabbing both of my wrists. “Shut the fuck up, sugar. Look at me, look right the fuck at me.”

this isn’t cnc. there was never an agreement. this is literally sexual assault.

🚨 AND LIKE MOST IMPORTANT POINT: 🚨

this wasn’t kink. this was a book advertised as kinky and it is not.

they never consented or talked about everything and DEFINITELY DID NOT HAVE A SAFE WORD. OML.

also the smut was just gross. like idk. i like smut but that was ew. like it was gross. smut never shocks me and i’ve read pretty much everything but it’s written so carnally and like…idk

and then…”i’m madly in love with her”

okay i failed to explain how this started but they basically watched eachother fuck other people from their windows. (ikr) (also without the consent of the other people???) and he literally fucks her once without even had a conversation and then it’s “i’m madly in love with you”

only decent things about this book is that well the girls poor mental health was understandable and the backstory was interesting AND she’s a bisexual of some sort.

the guy’s mental problems were not very elaborated on and literally were just used as an excuse for
his actions.

pls don’t read this 💗💗

I love Isabella Starling's books, they are always ine step ahead of what you would expect to happen BUT here, I honestly had a difficult time 'getting' into the characters' position...

Hmmm...yeah, they both have issues, mentally, emotionally and they both deal with them in sexually detached and depraved way...BUT yet they find a connection through it all even though they re-live it by experiencing sexcapades with different people while they watch each other's performance through out the opposite windows....

Well, I draw the line at the word 'connection', I didnt get it, at all
Individually, their mental and emotional angst and disfunctions made them somewhat realistic but the whole shebangs and kinky fuckery made no sense in them trying to deepen the connection...

So, basically the kinky fuckery was in fact, just that, a kinky fuckery and excuse to pent up the sexual tension...per se BUT not even that was working for me alone😕

fuck, sometimes it's fuckin hard to be me...lol

I guess, this story is of an acquired taste...but in my case, I d be satisfied with just a plain dirty shot, instead of multiple overbearing mascarading kinky coctails...

This book is officially my bible, my comfort book, my getting-out-of-a-reading-slump-book, my everything.

The cover instantly drew me towards reading this and I’m so happy it did. I definitely did not expect to love this book as much as I do, literally my emotions are flying all over the damn place. I can’t tell if I should be turned the fuck on or be smiling like a crazy person. The sexual chemistry and the sex scenes were everything. I fucking loved it all.

Although some people may hate on this book because there are many “disturbing” scenes / aspects of it, personally, I loved everything about it. I feel such a connection to Miles and everything he went through, the things he dealt with and how he dealt with himself. He holds a special place in my heart and always will. Miles, I fucking love you so much.
