The Orphan Trilogy

Rate this book
Twenty-three orphans with numbers for names from 1 to 23.
Number Nine wants to escape from 'the orphanage'.

Read the highly-rated international conspiracy thriller series in full. Three novels spanning over 1,000 explosive pages...

Book One: THE NINTH ORPHAN
Book Two: THE ORPHAN FACTORY
Book Three: THE ORPHAN UPRISING

Meet Number Nine - an orphan, a spy, a lover...a master of disguise, an assassin, a shapeshifter...a freedom fighter, a human chameleon, a reformed contract killer.
He's all of the above. He's none of the above.

Nine is enslaved by the Omega Agency, a shadowy organization seeking to create a New World Order. When he tries to break free and live a normal life, Nine is hunted by his mentor and father figure, and by a female orphan he spent his childhood with. On the run, his life becomes entwined with his beautiful French-African hostage and a shocking past is revealed...A past that involves the mysterious Pedemont Orphanage in Chicago, Illinois.

Standing in the way of Nine's freedom are his fellow orphans - all elite operatives like himself - who are under orders to terminate him. Nine finds himself in a seemingly infinite maze of cloak and dagger deception. Time and again, he must call on all his advanced training to survive.

But can the ninth-born orphan ever get off the grid? To find out you'll need to go on a tumultuous journey around the world to such far-flung locations as the Arctic, Asia, Europe, the Amazon, Africa and South Pacific islands. The frenetic cat-and-mouse chase moves from airports to train stations and hidden torture prisons, taking the reader on a page turning, frightening non-stop action ride into the world of corrupted power that goes beyond conspiracy theories to painful reality.

Fast-paced, totally fresh and original, filled with deep and complex characters, The Orphan Trilogy is a controversial, high-octane thriller series with an edge. Merging fact with fiction, it illuminates shadow organizations rumored to actually exist in our world. The three novels explore a plethora of conspiracies involving real organizations like the CIA, MI6, and the UN, and public figures such as President Obama, Queen Elizabeth II as well as the Clinton, Marcos and Bush families.

The Orphan Trilogy exposes a global agenda designed to keep the power in the hands of a select few. Nine's oppressors are a shadow government acting above and beyond the likes of the White House, the FBI, the Pentagon and the NSA.

One of the Omega Agency's black ops employs MK-Ultra mind control technology on genetically engineered agents to facilitate the agendas of those in power. When Nine successfully deprograms himself from MK-Ultra, all hell breaks loose. But to gain his freedom he must bust out of the Pedemont Orphanage and break into Omega's other orphanages and underground medical laboratories around the world. In the process he uncovers chilling scientific experiments taking place on children. Could something like this ever take place? Or, is it already taking place somewhere in the world right now?

A Brilliant Series. All 3 books are incredibly original and very entertaining. The Ninth Orphan certainly caught my attention with the blurb, and it didn’t disappoint. A very good plot having 23 Orphans being trained as black op’s specialist. The second book ‘The Orphan Factory’ takes us back to when the Orphans were growing up, and ‘Nine’ manages to escape. Then onto the third book ‘Orphan Uprising’ when ‘Nine’ is living on an island with his family, and his world is turned upside down. Lance & James Morcan have put together a wonderful group of characters and a storyline that I have enjoyed so much throughout the three books. They are certainly worth reading.

I have reviewed each book in this trilogy. Each book was unbelievably better than the one before ... They were all excellent.

The trilogy is the story of Nine, one of 23 orphans, who have been bred and trained by Omega, an international clandestine organization, to be elite operatives from birth for Omega's nefarious new world order purposes.

The Morcans have a unique way of writing that makes the reader feel as though they are right there as the suspense builds and the action occurs. There are multiple locales thru-out the series... all obviously extensively researched. My heart went out to Nine and many of the other characters who were just pawns in Omega's master scheme.

When I started reading this series, I was leery as this was not the genre I normally reach for when looking for something to read. However, now, after reading Fiji: a Novel and the three books in their Orphan Trilogy, any book by the Morcans is now a must-read for me.

Bottomline: Awesome set of books... thrills galore... highly addictive and recommended.

The Orphan trilogy is a series of espionage novels that will keep readers intrigued until the end of the last book. The story focuses on Nine, one of 23 orphans, who was genetically engineered and trained by the Omega Agency to be assassins. Each novel takes the reader through Nine’s life experiences, as the best of the Omega operatives. Readers will relate to the psychological and moral dilemmas faced by Nine in his quest for true freedom.

This is a great action packed conspiracy thriller trilogy which is well worth reading. Genetically modified, superior orphans, who are known by numbers rather than by names, have been raised by the shadowy Omega Agency, but one of the orphans realises he wants out.

This is predominantly the story of Nine, who tries to escape. As a master of disguise and an expert in most fields, he uses his training to flee the orphanage and begin a new life. But things are never simple.

Each book in this trilogy has its own flavour, but each also includes the same ingredients: exotic locations, disturbing experiments, well defined characters, fast paced action and real conspiracy facts mixed in with the fiction.

The second book was my favourite, but all three grabbed my attention from the word go. It’s well worth investing some time in this trilogy. Let’s hope the film version is made soon.

FASCINATING!
I can't say enough about this international conspiracy thriller series. Fast paced action and an extremely thought provoking premise. James and Lance Morcan are great at pacing, but even better at bringing all the characters to life on the page and creating scenes that make you feel you are there. All of the locations, which there many, have been extremely well-researched and you go away feeling you have been to those places, such as the streets of Chicago, The Congo, Greenland, Paris, and many others. More than all that, the intense suspense with keep you up at night turning pages. Don't miss these books. You'll love them.

A great series I can recommend to all readers who loves a good spy thriller with all the elements of action, adventure and humanity inside to give you hours of enjoyable reads…Loved it.
This is a series you need to read from Book 1, otherwise you will loose many of the information needed as you advance.
Descriptive and in-depth look as you visit countries all over the globe. The MK Ulta mind control taken from real facts to make the plot believable, dating as far back as WWii. The characters were well developed so that you could connect with them, love them, hate them and all the emotions in-between.
You will not be disappointed.

It's a mix of the Bourne movies, Prison Break and bits of Zoolander. Very by-the-numbers and sloppy in parts - UK English instead of American English when characters speak, for example. Lack of character development is a major issue.
I wanted to like this, and the concept is a terrific one. The execution is just not at the level it needs to be.
I finished reading it mostly from spite. Don't waste your time on this.

Quite a fantastic trilogy. Although it took me some time to get through all 3 books, each one was great and riveting in it’s own way. The hero Sebastian (number 9) was awesome. I loved his rebellious tendencies and appreciated his kindness towards those he loved. I highly recommend this book for anybody who loves spy / assassin books.

The Orphan Trilogy by James Morcan and Lance Morcan. This is a series of three books about the Pedemont Orphans. These orphans were created by using the sperm DNA of a variety of men and the egg from a female. Thus they all had different mothers and a variety of fathers. The exceptions to this were a set of twins who had the same mother and Nine and Seventeen who also had the same mother. Their mother was Annette Hannar whose termination was decreed by Andrew Naylor, head of the Omega directors. Nine and Seventeen do not know they are siblings in the truest sense. Nine knows his mother’s name but Seventeen doesn’t. Their names were the order of their birth: One, Two, etc. up to 23. All are geniuses.
The series revolves around Nine, the ninth orphan. He is the top orphan according to training specialist, Tommy Kentbridge. His job is to train the orphans in all areas to make them into killing machines for Omega. Nine is different from the others. He shows his sensitive side when he refuses to kill a deer. He falls in love with the girl next door. Although he is top of the main list, he praises the other orphans when they beat him. His sister, Seventeen, is very competitive and wants to be first in everything. There is a hardness to her which makes her like to see animals bleed to death. She will not be afraid to kill anyone, especially Nine. What happens when Nine decides to get out?
This series is really great. The writing keeps you enthralled. I had to stay up three different nights just to finish each book. In the book you have suspense, laughter, romance, and tears. The settings are all set out in great detail so you can “see” where you are and enjoy the scenery and see how it affects what they are able and unable to do. The special thing about purchasing these as the trilogy is that you do not have to wait until the other one is released to read it. I would definitely recommend these to my friends. James and Lance Morcan are excellent writers and I look forward to reading more of their works.

In the conspiracy of "The Orphan Trilogy", Nine, one of the 23 orphans created in a lab with a government agency, grows up training for the ultimate battle he never expected.

While growing up, Nine had to train to fight, disguise and hide in plain sight. While doing this, he had to do all of these things right in the orphanage with his other orphaned friends and a sister. He grew strong and smart very quickly.

He didn't know it was right or wrong. He only knew what they taught him during his training and schooling at the orphanage.

The agency that is responsible for everything is the "Omega Agency". The orphans were genetically engineered by the agency.

During one of Nine's missions, he meets a woman and ends up taking her captive to protect her as someone was out to kill her after her father was executed. During that time, Nine had never known what love was until he fell for the lady he'd been protecting.

He then fought for freedom and to keep her safe. He ended up framing one of the main guys for her safety and his freedom from the "Omega Agency".

After being free for so long, he learned of his sister's treatment and his son was abducted by the Agency. He didn't know why, but he was determined to get him back and help his sister with her helping him to find his son.

The Agency wanted his son for scientific research on his genetics and how to use his DNA and everything that they could to their benefit.

James and Lance Morcan have written several wonderful books. This is just the trilogy:
Book One: THE NINTH ORPHAN
Book Two: THE ORPHAN FACTORY
Book Three: THE ORPHAN UPRISING

Sterling Gate books are the best of the best when it comes to the Morcan father and son team of writing. Be sure to check out the whole trilogy! I loved the whole set!

The Orphan Trilogy is a compilation of the series of the Ninth Orphan books.
Lance and James Lorcan are skilled writers who produce books full of action that hooks the reader from the get go and does not release them until the end of the read. I thoroughly enjoyed all three books and the premise they were founded on. So much so, I am reading their non-fiction book The Orphan Conspiracy.
I’m looking forward to the movie……and post that, let’ hope for another thrilling series, based on ???? One can only guess with the fertile imaginations of this father and son.

I would quote my personal episode which would better serve as a review. I was about to finish the book and was in that crucial part of the story which would hinge the storylines ahead. I never realised that I had stood up and had been pacing up and down my garden. It was well after I completed the epilogue that I realised that I had been giving away my blood to a host of happy mosquitoes, while standing in the darkest corner of my garden with my Kindle.

I was very excited about this trilogy when I started. Tons of positive reviews, an intriguing summary of the concept and I was hooked. Even better, it was available on Kindle Unlimited! However, by the time I was able to finish (at a fearfully slow pace for someone who reads as much as I do - this took me MONTHS because I couldn't always bring myself to pick it back up) I found myself wondering if the author thought the readers would be unable to form a coherent thought of their own.

Don't get me wrong, the story is good and had the potential to be great. My issues were with the writing style and weirdly constant mention of the ethnicity of each operative (so frequent that I forgot anything else I had been told about the characters since they were constantly referred to by their race for NO apparent reason, i.e. 'the mixed race operative'). I can appreciate incorporating a lot of different characters with different backgrounds, but do you really need to point out their race to me whenever you mention them?

As someone who read the entire trilogy, I was baffled at how frequently the author felt the need to reiterate information and repeat himself. Hundreds of pages were wasted in this manner. The writing style also left essentially no room for you to draw your own conclusions because Morcan felt inclined to spell out absolutely everything.

Personally I like books that give me a little room to imagine, these were so bent on constructing their own world that there was simply no space for me to form my own opinions or connect with the characters. I don't like it when authors treat you like you clearly aren't picking up on their context clues, foreshadowing or plot points. Finally by the third book I was genuinely invested at times, but the ending didn't satisfy since it was so heavy handed. A good story if you like the genre but you'll really have to dig deep to focus on the actual content. Sorry to say, but The Orphan Trilogy was not my favorite.

I read 14% of this book this year. I am not going to rate it because I don't like to hurt writer's and their ratings. I was very disappointed in this book. It may make a good movie, and the ideas were kind of cool, but for me the writing was not at a place I would prefer to read. It seemed to lack for me. I feel bad giving bad reviews, but if the author reads this I would simply suggest getting a lot of people to critique and edit your manuscripts. I wanted to like it but the writing hindered my progress. For example, there was no effort in metaphors. The author wrote something like, It was so dark it was if the sun had disappeared.

This book was very intriguing at first, but as I read I felt like the author was constantly reminding me of things that had previously happened. I didn't enjoy that at all. I was expecting this trilogy to be a little like the Bourne Series, which it was, but it also brought a new flavor and feel all its own.

In the end, I would have liked the writing to stand par with the action and plot line.

Switch off any sense of reality, indulge in conspiracy theories and supernatural abilities of the protagonists. Very mixed bag of three stories set out a a story, a prequel and then a sequel. Of the three the prequel is more convincing. As with many of the stories in this genre, the lead protagonists kill easily, but are impossible to kill. Their enemies like H=James Bond have to come uo with a more complicated method of killing then. So in the end OK and good value as a trilogy, but....
