My favorite of Beth Moore. Intense study on Integrity, Accountability, Discipline, Prophesy and End Times. She opens our eyes to how we live in today's Babylon, with so much distraction keeping us from daily seeking God. I did this as a summer study with my mom (a new believer) and a group of women from church. We purchased the video's and Mom did it on vacation and we went over the study on the phone!
2 main themes, in this 2 part study. 1) Integrity, accountability and discipline, how not to get sucked into living in today's Babylon. (Amazing). 2) Prophecy and Eschatology. (the end times, Christ's return) She gives Many points of view from other scholars and leaves you to make up your own mind. The more you put into this study the more you are Blessed!

We're reading this book for a small group at church. I can already tell that I really, really don't like the way this lady writes her Bible studies. What with the "precious one"s and the "beloved"s scattered throughout the text, I also have sentences like this to look forward to:
"By the way, have I told you recently how thankful I am for the privilege to study God's Word with you? Getting to love and seek Him by your side is one of the greatest joys in life to me."
Lady, I've never met you. So we're not really "side by side" as you've already done this study (because, hey, you wrote it!) and I'm watching VIDEOS of you, not you in person.
It's just so cheesy. No matter how good this study is, sentences like that are always going to make me flinch. (And scoff, and read them aloud to anyone sitting nearby.)

One of my favorite Bible studies! I learned so much about the Old Testament by doing this study. I love the way that Beth Moore sets up her lessons-she gives word studies (in Hebrew) as well as historical background, and then helps you to apply the lesson to the rest of the Bible as well as your life. I hope to do all of her studies someday--she is such a gifted Bible teacher!

This is an intense study and was many firsts for me. I've never done a study by Beth Moore before me and she definitely has her own teaching style that you either enjoy or get turned off by. She did grow on me throughout the twelve weeks though. It also is a study to learn about Daniel and his prophecy, not necessarily find your story I the Bible. Many stories can be related and applied to today, but Beth reminds us multiple times during the study that there is also value in understanding the story being recounted. It is a powerful study that can be life changing, but I definitely think I need to do it again and again and again to understand what's happening.

This is an amazing study of the Book of Daniel. It is amazing how Babylon is such a reflection of our current society. The first half focusses on Daniel and how he lived a life of integrity and purpose....the second half deals with eschatology (okay I murdered that spelling) and end time events. I don't have a strong background in this, but this study definitely gave me some insight into difficult-to-understand scripture.

This is an excellent study to help you get into the book of Daniel and finally understand the dreams and revelations held within. Throughout the course of the study I was amazed at how much I had missed in my own study of the book. This study, though extrememly sugary at times, is an empowering revelation of itself as you begin to see the similarities between modern culture and Daniel's Babylon. Insanely good. Highly recommend.

Second study by Beth Moore, I have to say this is not your usual bedtime Daniel not being eaten in the lion's den story. It definitely showed the real side to the Daniel story, a really great Bible study. I especially loved the prophetic side to the study where we got a timeline of Church Age and the Anti-Christ. Really compelling stuff. However, brace yourself this study will take a lot of commitment, and research, you have to commitment to learn. Nice one Beth Moore.

I am so excited to do this study. I bought the workbook with birthday money in March, and then the DVD's at church went missing. Well, now they have been found and I can't wait to get started. I am excited about what God has to teach me in the book of Daniel.

William ended up joining me in the study. It was a refreshing time together in God's word. I really enjoyed diving into this book that has seemed so elusive in the past. I am slightly hesitant to leave it, and I am going throught each chapter one last time, just taking a day to review. The daily homework didn't seem as intensive as I hoped, and at times she can be hokey--but that fluffy encouragement at the beginning of each chapter must be for someone.
We are living in a babylon, and we do need to learn to be Daniels in the middle of it. A couple things that really struck me--
1-Friendly captivity is dangerous, like the lobster in the pot we begin comfortable and get cooked (my own metaphor)
2-In the fiery furnace, the only thing that burned was the ropes--there was no smell of fire on them (complete deliverence). Beth made the application that sometimes God allows us to go into the furnace in order to free us from longstanding sin or bondage in our lives.
3- Finally, I was interested in teh concept of their being both a near (it has already been lived out) and a far fulfillment to some of Daniel's prophecies. I really believe that is how scripture plays itself out, all throughout the bible, stories point to Jesus, and it is the same with the end. God gives us many layers of understanding.
It was fun to read this at the same time as my pastor preached through the book of Revelations. The eschatology is exciting, but it is also applicable here and now.
I would love to read more about this topic from other viewpoints. Does anyone have any suggestions?

This was a very good work book to go through but... Its just not something you can do once. HOnestly this needs to be read two or three times to really grasp the history and the prophecy part fully. She does a great job with the info and her real life applications are excellent also. But for me, the material is just to complex to go over in 12 weeks and say "Yep, now I understand Daniel!" BOttom line though is that its another excellent study worth doing..twice even:)

December 18, 2017I can't give a fair rating on this study guide. I did this with a group of girls and we attempted to complete this book without watching the DVDs that should accompany it. If you are interested in this book, I would highly recommend looking into the DVDs. I feel like it would've had much more depth and insight if I had been able to view the six DVDs that can be purchased to go along with this book.

I throughly enjoyed this study on Daniel. It is an intense study and did require a time commitment, it is well worth it. I didn't realize just how much the Babylonian mindset has seeped in not in our culture but into our churches as well. In this study I'll take away just how important it is to a woman of integrity and to be discerning.

Although it’s New Year’s Day, I just finished Beth Moore’s Daniel, the embodiment of the acronym Easter: Every Alternative Savior Takes Early Retirement.
“Our lives can become flesh-and-blood felt boards of the great and glorious paradox: life is found by losing it for the sake of Christ. A vessel is filled by pouring out. The key to receiving is giving. The key to living is dying to self. The greatest in the kingdom is the servant of all. God has been right all along. His upside-down path is the only way to true contentment and satisfaction. The world’s claim of happiness is betrayed by an ever-increasing lust for more. Nothing ever suffices. Nothing ever will. Christ alone satisfies the ailing human soul.”

I had been hearing great things about this Bible study for years, as had a friend of mine. So she bought the CD, and 3 of us did the study together. As with other Moore studies, this one works best if you use the video and the workbook of daily lessons.
It's a 12-week study, one for each chapter in the book of Daniel. The first half of the study (covers well-known stories like the lion's den and the fiery furnace) was best, in my opinion. Moore effectively pulls out the theme of living above our culture, a culture that tells you to put yourself and your interests first. We are called to more important things than self-serving.
The second half was interesting and thought-provoking. It deals with the eye-opening prophetic chapters of Daniel: some that are now history (eg, Alexander the Great and other rulers -- prophecied in amazing detail) -- plus the coming of the Messiah) and some that are still in the future (end times prophecies). Moore explains her stance ("dispensational premillenialism") but is careful to remind participants that there are many different views. She urges her viewers to read commentaries to help them form their own opinions, which I appreciate.
I was raised amillenialist (don't take any of these prophesies literally; don't spend much time trying to make sense of end time prophecies because this knowledge is closed to humans). So I was very interested in learning other, more literal interpretations and the evidence for them (though it's clearly not her aim to promote her view -- I'll need to find another book that compares and contrasts in detail). Moore's dispensational premillenialism is defined as the view that "Israel and the church as two separate peoples of God, the rapture of the church before the great tribulation, and God fulfilling His promises to Israel through the 1000-year earthly reign of Christ." Easier to understand in the context of the study. But appealing because it gives a merciful second chance to God's special people: my sweet Jewish friends.
I really like Beth Moore and her studies. In this study, I often wished she wouldn't call her audience "girls" and repeat how hard the lessons are and how proud of us she is for thinking and working so hard -- it made me cringe; seemed a bit demeaning to her (obvious) intelligence and ours. BUT she does it such Southern charm and sincerity and humor that I can't help but like her anyway. And she has appeal to a broad audience, so lots of women must like that approach. Anyway, I would definitely do other studies by her.

I've done a couple of Beth Moore studies in the past but this one is definitely one of my favorites. I attempted to start it a while back but only did the first week because I couldn't find the CDs that went with it for the listening sessions. I'm so thankful that I went back and picked this up a second time and completed it because it deals with so many issues that we need to hear today. Broken down into two parts, this workbook gives the reader first a personal application and then second a look at a possible interpretation of end time events.
The first section seeks on living lives on integrity in a world with compromised moral. It was astounding to see parallels with many people today's views with what ancient Babylon was like. I'm not sure I'll ever forget the 'I am and there is none besides me'. It was sobering to realize how easy it is to slip into complacency when it comes to things and think 'oh it doesn't really matter if I do this or not'. It was definitely challenging and encouraging right when it needed to be.
The second part was utterly fascinating to look at prophecies and see some of the fulfillment and those that remain to be fulfilled. It brought up a lot of questions and points that led me to deeper study and discussion with others and especially those more knowledgeable than me on these issues.
This book was challenging and inspiring. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to learn how to live a life of integrity in today's society and learn a bit more about one interpretation of the prophecies in Daniel.

I went through the video and study guide twice this year, once with my Tuesday afternoon Bible study and once with my Wednesday night Bible study. There are advantages of doing things twice to cement concepts and truths in my mind. The first half of the study (Daniel 1 - 6) focuses on not being drawn in to the 'Babylon' of our current culture. The second half of the study was on Bible prophecy. Beth taught from a pre-tribulation rapture position, which is the position I had been

different position." My resident 'scholar' had already faithfully pointed out inconsistencies in the theology we'd been taught. There was still lots of great information, presented in Beth's intense, yet often humorous way. She has an appeal to women, week after week, that is so strong. I especially appreciate her humble, yet scholarly approach, and her desire to see women really learn the Word of God and love the Lord. A very good study overall. When discussing eschatology, she takes care to point out that knowledgeable scholars differ in their interpretations, and she encourages students to continue studying the matter on their own.
Her repetitive statements to the effect that "this is hard, but you can do it" struck me as condescending. This is an entry-level study of prophecy and eschatology. The comparison of different end times interpretations (millennialist, dispensationalism, etc.) does get a little confusing, but it's not brain surgery.
The other thing that bugs me about this study is the childish fill-in-the blank questions that are usually presented right alongside the answer. Not exactly a rigorous intellectual experience.
This study would be very good for those who haven't studied Daniel beyond the story of the lions' den. The video lessons are an integral part of the study. I think without them the student experience would be greatly diminished.

I completed this 12 week study over a year with a friend that lives in another part of the country. What a blessing it was to work through this material and be able to discuss it with her.
This Daniel study is a good introduction to prophecy for those who haven't studied prophecy and a good refresher for those that have. While prophecy can get pretty intellectual, Moore does a good job of tying in relevant illustrations. Finally, I really appreciate her humility in recognizing that many people who sincerely believe the Bible hold different views, and her encouragement to continue studying prophecy.
Note: We did not use the videos for this study, but i have since heard that they are incredible, and fill in some of the "gaps" in the lessons. They would be especially helpful to those who haven't studies prophecy before.

I've done several Beth Moore studies by now, mostly because they just keep getting better. I had started this one a number of years ago, but moved out of state in the middle of it and never got to finish it. With a small group I recently had the chance to walk through it again and loved it just as much going through it again. The insights and the level of involved study is incredible. The history nerd in me loved learning more about the empires and kings discussed, prophetically, in the book, eschatological studies of the kingdoms yet to come, and the insights into personal characters and culturally relevant items in stories that I grew up on, like the lions' den and the fiery furnace, made old stories into something new and currently relevant. It's a brilliant study, one I look forward to revisiting in the future (no pun intended).

This book was used as part of a small group Bible study, and I really wasn't quite sure I would like it. After all, Daniel is a book in the Old Testament, and I figured it was going to be pretty dry. Was I ever surprised! Once we dug in, I was actually looking forward to the study each week. The book was used in conjunction with a DVD featuring Beth Moore. She did a great job of helping us pronounce names such as "Jehoiakim" king of Judah, "Hananiah", "Belteshazzar" or "King Nebuchadnezzar". The video also took us on a guided tour back in time--showcasing actual historical landmarks in Israel that were discussed in the book. The book of Daniel is a wonderful historical study. I soaked up the history lessons, as we also discussed a life of sacrifice--and what that means to our modern day lives. Very interesting, informative and life-changing.

Yay!!!! I went through the whole study and I really liked it. Daniel was much more than just the Lion's Den account...I learned so much about prophecy. I do agree with another review that said this is a study to do more than once. I learned so much but I would like to do it again in the future. I'm sure much more will jump out at me a second time. The study was very challenging and the homework was thorough...I really appreciated the rhyme that Beth had on page 232 to help seal in what each book was about. I thought it was cute. I plan to take the Final Exam at the end to see how much I remember. This is the last week of the study at my church and I'm said that the Daniel study is over. I hope we will revisit this study. I look at the book of Daniel differently and I can say I know more than the Lion's Den account...oh so much more.

I really liked Beth Moore's passion and integrity of the Word. The first 6 chapters were aptly applied to Christian living, and exhorted believers to not get caught in "Bablyon mentality." Very convicting. The second half deals with prophesy and I really appreciated how Beth prefaced it many times by saying that this was her particular view, and that there are many brilliant Bible scholars out there that have different interpretations. A very wise approach which made me respect her more as I did not agree with all of her interpretations about the end-times. If anything it can salt one's curiosity and pursuit of understanding different interpretations about eschatology, and shouldn't get people too bent out of shape. I recommend! (With the DVDs).

Incredible!! Digs deep, challenges, teaches. Loving learning about prophecy and being challenged to live a life of integrity, seeing areas in my life that I need to change. It was good to soak in the fact that I am so loved by God. Amazing to learn about prophecy and see how much of it has already come true and is history to us now. If God fulfilled all of that, He will fulfill the remainging parts of the prophecy, just as He said. We serve a faithful God. Again, we need to make our relationship with Christ a priority, instead of accumulating wealth and forgetting those in need. Fabulous study that got me so excited about my daily time with God. It came alive.

Daniel: Lives of Integrity, Words of Prophecy is my fifth and favorite Beth Moore study.
Part 1 is about Babylon-- historical and modern day applications. Part 2 is about prophecy and end times. I won't pretend that I understood everything in part 2. I kept with it, though, in hopes that something would stick. In spite of my confusion, I know more now than when I started.
I would recommend part 1 to anyone interested in a Bible study. The history and terminology in part 2 are daunting; I would not recommend it to someone new to Bible study.
The video for session 11 is the best Beth Moore video I've seen.

My first complete Beth Moore bible study. This was a very challenging study, but excellent. I think this study requires flexibility as some meetings you have to adjust where you end and plan to start the following week. Once our group got to the eschatology start about mid way through, we decided to take three weeks per lesson. This helped quite a bit. Meeting one was the video, meeting two was review days 1-3, and meeting three was focused on reviewing days 4-5. I loved the parallels to the Modern Day Babylon. It helps identify the red flags that foster the self absorption culture and how to not be "defiled by them and to resolve".

This is a wonderful study, it's a journey from Daniel's lion den to the prophesy of the end times. There were times that I ate up the history of this study. For the first time in a long time I got to see the bible and all those boring history classes come hand in hand. To Daniel it was all prophesy for us it is history and that amazes me. This is a study that has a fun pop quiz at the end that I found challenging. It made me think I may not have gotten all I needed to out of the study, I could redo it and propably see lots that I missed the first round.

Beth Moore is one of my favorite Christian authors and speakers. She uses every day examples and humor in her teachings. You know that she is just like the rest of us, imperfect and struggling. This is an amazing study. I would have never gleaned a hint of it just by reading Daniel on my own. She explains how we live in a world of Babylon, just like back in Daniel's day. There are also many prophecies about the coming of Christ in Daniel. Fascinating and highly recommended. I just love her studies.
