I was happy in my small town. In my life as a single, thirty-two year old woman. I had a good job, wonderful friends, my independence.

I also hadn't got laid in three years. Hadn't been on a date in two. Had stopped counting calories and wearing makeup... a while ago.

Then Brett Jacobs waltzed in. Caressed my thigh, dug rough fingers into my hair, lowered his soft mouth to my skin, took sexual control of my mind and stirred it all around with what he packed in his pants. He flipped my quiet life upside down and crawled into a place in my heart I thought was dead.

The issue is his secret.
The issue is her.
The issue is that I don't even know she exists, and he thinks she's dead.
The issue is that shit is about to hit the fan and I can't hold on to him tight enough.

★★★★★! Tight (stand-alone). A mind-blowing one-night-stand looks to become a promising romance, until it touches on the darker sides of life!

Tight (stand-alone) opens up to small-town financial advisor Riley Johnson who while on a weekend bachelorette party in Bahamas encounters the mysterious Brett Jacobs and does something reckless to break the status quo and shake loose.

“It’s been years since I’ve had a cock in my mouth, years since I’ve felt a man’s skin beneath my touch, much less his hands on my body.”

While walking back to her hotel room, her feet aching from her two-sizes-too-small stilettos. She takes a rest and viola! Brett to the rescue with fluffy slippers, interesting conversation and an intense and sexually charged kiss… before he slips back into the night. Lucky for Riley their paths shall cross again for some off-the-charts sex against walls and furniture…. fueled by their instant attraction and sexual chemistry.

Back to reality Brett courts Riley taking her on weekend get-aways in tropical settings across the Caribbean and Central America. But soon their whirlwind courtship is clouded by suspicion and doubt only to throw their world into a tailspin with a twist and dark issues such as drugs, human trafficking and much more…

Nine words to describe Brett Jacobs: Commanding, mysterious, relentless, complex, chivalrous, considerate, impulsive, secretive and accommodating.

“Who hides more than he gives. Who lies more that he tells the truth.”

Nine words to describe Riley Johnson: Reflective, smart, lonely, modest, prude, naïve, inquisitive, determined and inflexible.

Tight, told mostly from Riley’s POV, but sprinkled with a few from Brett’s starts off about pushing boundaries and shaking it lose. Story then shifts into deeper and more complex matters like surviving amidst lies and deception. It’s not only about fighting for unending love, but how to preserver and hold TIGHT when the odds are stacked against you.

Commanding gentleman and [butterflies in your belly] hero, Brett Jacobs! Steamy sex scenes! Spell-binding and suspenseful plot! Excellent story-telling! The perfect ending!

::: FULL REVIEW NOW POSTED ::: 4.5 STARS!!

WOAH!!! This was easily one of the most ADDICTIVE books I've read. It kept me guessing the whole way through. I was so sure that I'd figured out the big twist, but then the ending surprised me yet again!! I absolutely love it when a book can do that. It's a true sign of really great writing!

I read the whole book, cover to cover, in one sitting. I was just literally glued to my kindle all afternoon, unable to stop flipping pages. The story is simultaneously SEXY, erotic, and mysterious. There's a strong romance, a complex plot, and fantastic writing. I went in totally blind. I didn't know a single thing abut this story other than the blurb and I strongly recommend that you do the same. Just dive right in!

As such, this review will be completely spoiler free!

“I told you, this doesn’t have to be anything.

“Or,” he shrugged, stepping forward, his mouth pressing softly against my cheek… “It could be the start of everything.”

This was the kind of book where, from the moment I started it, I was hooked, intrigued, and drawn in by the story. The writing practically begs you to keep turning the page.

The twist was elusive and danced just outside of my grasp. I love it when both characters and stories have such layers and depth to them. Complex characters with secrets are some of my favorites and Brett was especially intriguing. He was such an enigma -- a perfectly put together business man with scarred knuckles, no history but no warning lights either, he was both intense but gentlemanly and.... well... you'll see the other reasons why. I really feel like it's better for you to just discover it as you go.

Without saying too much, I'll just let you know that if you're one of those readers who is worried this is a love triangle, then just trust me and try it anyways. I promise that all is not as it seems.

This is one of those books where I just want to suggest that you don't even ask questions about it, don't go looking for details or answers, don't try to find out any more than the blurb. Just dive right in and let the story happen. Trust me. There are some books whose stories I like to "set up" for you guys, other stories where I feel the need to include hidden optional spoilers for things I feel it's best to know in advance, and then there are a select few (like this one) where my honest opinion is that if you're going to read the book, just GO for it without knowing anything. Some stories are stronger that way, and this is one of those.

I absolutely recommend it!

“I feel like I’ve waiting my whole life for you,” he’d murmured.

Rating: 4.5 stars. Standalone Adult romance w/a twist.

TIGHT is a truly courageous story of hope, strength and love.

The ingredients of the story, when all mixed together have an air of mystery and intrigue….. My mind was working overtime whilst reading this new standalone story by Alessandra Torre.

Tight drew me in and captured my attention from the very beginning with its multi-faceted characters, gripping structure and atmospheric prose. It took me to the edge and I held on completely entranced in the world of Riley and Brett. At times I thought I knew, I thought I had a grasp on what was going on but in true Alessandra Torre style she kept me thinking and surmising throughout, creating interest, giving light and shade with subtle nuances. I love the suspense of it all and the ending moved me to tears, for more than one reason, reflecting the depth of feeling expertly weaved through the story.

Riley is a 32 year old single country girl working as a financial advisor. She’s confident and sassy and, despite being single for some time, she’s still able to flirt and converse comfortably with the opposite sex. She’s understandably somewhat apprehensive but it’s the natural demeanour of someone in her situation, showing perfectly that one can be confident and have vulnerabilities. She’s more than open to finding something more for her life.

Enter Brett….
Brett is 37 and makes a lot of money. He’s successful, powerful, suave and passionate. His manner is one of controlled intensity creating an aura of mystery and attraction. Alessandra Torre drip feeds information about him. Gives us clues about his integrity, his heart and his soul. She led me down her story path of intrigue and suspense… all the time raising questions in my head, twisting my thoughts this way and that.

Riley meets Brett during a batchelorette trip to Nassau with the girls who are all lovely; each with their own stamp of personality, adding flavour throughout the book. Chelsea in particular is a hoot.

Let the story unfold and experience……
Brett’s inner voice is emotive. He has insecurities and, at times is at odds with himself because…. I can’t tell you... it’s one of the things I wondered about and is best revealed during the natural course of the story. I found Riley’s thoughts cleverly reflected my own. My heart was beating so fast. What. Would. Happen? I completely understood her motivation and the path she takes.

Tight totally captures the essence of frantic all-consuming sex, the sensually erotic and often poetic prose is a gift. I felt Riley’s excitement and wonder at their coupling, I could see the picture of her trying to get her words out as she snogged his face off. I felt the desire the brief anticipation and could not get enough of them together. The romance of Brett and Riley swept me off my feet and offered the most delicious erotic pictures.

Their first kiss is simply seductive.

The subject matter has an edgy quality to it, but for me this is not a dark read, it’s a story that personifies strength with challenging themes... In places, it's hopeful, beautiful and super romantic and in others it's harrowing by nature, maybe even more so now I've had time to reflect, but I never felt disturbed, I was more intrigued, mesmerised by the happenings. I was completely immersed in a book that has incredible atmosphere, wonderful depth of emotion and a layered inspirational story, intensified by the way the shorter chapters with an edge of darkness laced throughout juxtaposing against the happy, romantic-getting-to-know-you luscious scenes. They're striking within the context of the luxurious lifestyle and gave me the chills.

This story attacked my emotions. The narration took me inside the minds of the characters. Made me feel like I was living their life, walking in their shoes, so there are parts that made me feel edgy, concerned and repulsed….. What would be the outcome? Every sentence, every thought provoking moment carries the story forward in some capacity, giving a window of suspense and creating the perfect sense of place. It’s a story that as soon as I finished the last page I felt compelled to return to the beginning and have another flick through, read all my notes, look at sections of text, with complete knowledge, a knowledge that evoked even more emotion from my heart.... I took a moment to luxuriate in the brilliance and pure genius of the story telling.

I love stories that make me feel, ones that get to my senses with writing that creates pictures as real as if they were on the big screen in front of me. I love my reading matter to have intrigue and suspense, stories that make me wonder, think, and question, ones that let me believe I can solve the puzzle of the story. I adore my stories to be erotic in nature and make me feel the sensuality and passion of the moment with characters whom have a sense of faith and truth…. In other words, they have plausible motivation for everything they do, making them believable and REAL. Alessandra Torre does all of this in her writing and more. She adds a level of uniqueness that, to me, is inspirational. Every story she’s entrusted to us stands out on its own merit. I know when I pick up a book from this author that I’m going to be in for a treat and TIGHT is a gift among treats. I highly recommend it to readers who love books the way I do.

Note from the author: This book was inspired by the Still novella in the Bend Anthology, which was banned from kindle in May 2014. Many of the initial Brett/Riley scenes in this book came from that novella. If they seem familiar that is why.

5 stars!

I read Still in the BEND anthology last year. I was happy to hear Alessandra was writing a full length novel about Riley and Brett, the characters in that novella. I felt like they had a great connection, some amazing chemistry and I couldn’t wait to see where their story went. Let me tell you… I never, and I mean NEVER saw it going in this direction! That’s the thing about Alessandra Torre. You never know what direction she will take with a story. I love that about her books!

Riley and Brett meet when they’re both at the Bahama’s. Riley is vacationing with friends and Brett is there on business. They hit it off. Riley isn’t they type of girl who just ‘hooks up’ with guys, especially on a vacation like this, but there is something about Brett. They just connect.

 photo 3e8bfb79-bb58-49c5-9328-bb6bb0ff2fe2_zpsc4df2a44.jpg
“If I have you, you will not return to life as you know it. You will not flirt with other men around the water cooler at work. You will bend for me, spread for me, allow me to have every inch of your surface, all while screaming my name and shuddering into my heart. That is what I mean.”

There is so much I want to say about this story, about these characters, but this is a book I feel it’s so important to go in ‘blind’. I will say I loved both of the main characters. They were both full of strength, both complex. I loved watching their relationship develop from strangers to so much more.

 photo 73659a48-8e2b-466c-b4f8-59840bb2e65a_zps27ed5bec.jpg

I was captivated by this book. I wanted to know what was going on, how everything would work out. I had many theories (most of which were wrong) and I loved the element of mystery. Brett is full of secrets. Riley knows it, but she can’t help to still fall for him.
I knew what I felt. I loved him. But I didn’t know him. And I didn’t trust him. The man I had fallen for hid something.

Alessandra Torre is a brilliant writer. She is one of those authors that never lets me down. I love reading her books. Her characters are always endearing, her stories are unique, captivating and raw. There is always something that isn’t what it seems… and I love that as a reader. Tight made me feel. It made me cry. It made me think. It’s a beautiful love story, but it’s so much more than that. It’s a story of strength, survival, hope, and love. Go into this book with an open mind and be prepared for a journey with twists and turns! This is a book I highly recommend.

1.5 stars!

[1 star for the writing. Half a star because at times I did like Riley]

My rating is pretty self-explanatory – this book didn’t work for me at all. I’ve read a few books from this author and while I do like her writing, I feel like her approach seems to focus more on making a statement with big plot twists rather than on actual story and character development. Because once again, Tight is a book centering around one plot twist that was a mindfuck fail for me. In addition, the ‘suspense’ aspect of the story seemed to emulate another book I read and that just doesn’t sit well with me AT ALL. It’s not my intention to rip apart this book by noting every single flaw I found so I’ll just focus my attention on the main things that didn’t work for me:

This book was a chore to read, plus I didn’t feel the connection between Brett and Riley. A little harsh, but that’s what I felt. I do think that the author has a solid writing style so it’s not the actual writing that was a turnoff, but the characters and nonexistent plot. Our hero Brett and heroine Riley bump into each other at a bachelorette party and hit it off well…too well for my tastes actually. I don’t mind reading about that initial lust and attraction and all, but I found it mindblowingly unbelievable when Brett brings Riley some fuzzy slippers one night and then the next they start banging each other. And by the time the bachelorette party is over, they’re completely enamored with each other. A self-imposed dry spell isn’t a good enough reason to explain their insta-connection. On top of that, what happened to the actual story?? I could seriously sum it up for you in this one sentence: sex, eat, sleep, sex, Riley’s girlfriends giggling over Brett, sex, etc...Not much is know about Brett except he’s extremely wealthy and is obviously hiding secrets (more on this part later), and that Riley is the golden girl in her small town. Them traveling around to out-of-country places as ‘dates’ (first they meet in the Bahamas at a bachelorette party, then there's Aruba and Jamaica) quickly sent me snoozing. I really don’t care that Brett gave Riley some pretty flowers or they’re sending each other sweet texts. A plot as bland and one-dimensional like this one loses my attention FAST.

This book concept was way too similar to another book I read. The comparison I’m about to make is a bit of a spoiler, though I’m sure if you’ve read the book, you’ll see the similarities straight off the bat. If not and you’re just curious, it’s Tight took a turn down dark romance lane, but ended up in the gray area. Just the fact that these two books were so similar was a big disconnect for me, and it didn’t help that the execution was terribly weak.

Will readers gasp and be surprised over the big twist? I’m sure most will be. It’s just for me, I’ve seen it done already so it’s not the most original and attention-grabbing storyline. Which leads me to the clincher on the cover:

“This is not a story about servitude. This is a story about strength.”

All I have to say to that is nice concept but sorry, it didn’t dazzle me or warm my black heart at all. Maybe it’s because I didn't feel the love connection between Brett and Riley. But I think the main reason is that the final revelation was so...underwhelming. It was literally THE most obvious twist, so obvious I didn’t believe the author would actually use it. So when she did, I thought to myself ‘wow, that’s it?’ After that I lost all interest and just wanted to finish the book already.

Even though this book didn’t work for me, it was a 5 star (even 6 star) winner for tons of readers so I’m definitely in the minority. As I dislike books that solely utilize flashy plot twists to drive the story, I’m thinking this might be the end of the line for me and Alessandra Torre’s books.

Tight is a contemporary romance standalone with dark and erotic elements. There are some familiar scenes in this book to her novella Still which was in the banned Bend Anthology.

I will begin by saying that I go into almost all my books blind. I like to be surprised and guessing. I definitely go into all of Alessandra Torre’s books blind. For two reasons: 1) I 100% trust that whatever she writes I want to read and will enjoy, and 2) I know that regardless of what I think it is, it is always something different. So I started this one the other night and after about 2 minutes of reading I am messaging a friend and going back to read the blurb. Yeah, it didn’t help because she told me to read the blurb which I already had. Onto to the review...

"What if’s were dangerous. What if’s were terrifying.”

When the story begins we meet Riley, she is on a vacation bachelorette party with her friends in the Caribbean. Riley is a financial advisor in a small town in South Georgia. Where Riley is from everyone knows each other’s name and business. Even if she was interested in a one-night stand it would be out of the question in a town where it would be primetime gossip. Needless to say it has been a long time since Riley has had any "fun", 3 years to be exact. When Riley meets Brett in the casino lobby there is an obvious attraction, but she assumes it must be one sided.

Brett Jacobs is attractive, successful, and charming so I completely understand why Riley eventually gives into her desires and goes against her better judgement. Plus she is on vacation, we all know our vacation selves are a lot more free spirited then the ones we take to work everyday. I was immediately captivated by Brett and his story. As I was reading I was anxiously waiting for things to progress and see how they evolved.

While things start off as a fling with no expectations of a future, Brett decides he wants more and begins pursuing Riley. Brett and Riley have extreme chemistry and the sex was off the charts hot. However, the whole time you are wondering in the back of your mind what's coming next. That was one of my favorite aspects of the story, the anxiety of the unknown. I blew through this book in one sitting, there was no way I was putting it down.

Tight is such a beautiful, unique story and so well written that I became completely engrossed in the story and characters. My feelings while reading were so strong I was feeling empathy for them and crying as I eagerly turned the pages. Tight will keep you guessing and have you questioning yourself. I was a seesaw of emotions going from one side to the other, completely unsure of how I even wanted things to play out. That is a testament to this story, because I am a very decisive person but was completely torn while I watched things unfold.

This is the hardest review to write, because I want to tell you why you need to read this - because you do! However providing a detailed explanation like I would love to do would completely ruin the experience and I can’t do that. So long story short: read this book. :-D In all seriousness, I highly recommend if you are looking for a sexy read, with tons of heart, unexpected plot twists, and writing that will totally pull you in, this is the book for you.

The word 'tight' has twenty-two definitions, but my favorite is Webster's fifth- "A bond which cannot be broken."

It breaks my heart a little to write this review, considering that I haven't rated any of Alessandra's books anything below a solid 4 stars. She's an auto-buy author for me, and will continue to be. While this book didn't quite work for me, I do still enjoy her writing style and story telling ability immensely. She's a true talent and I really love her work. Unfortunately this book didn't fully live up to my expectations. Perhaps I set them too high? Perhaps I'm overly picky? Maybe I'm just too analytical when I read and tend to pick apart details to try to make sense of it all in my head? It started off so strong, and then somewhere around the 30% mark it just began to lose me.

I don't do one night stands."
"Meaning?"
“Meaning,” he growled, “that if I have you, you will not return to life as you know it. You will not flirt with men around the water cooler at work. You will bend for me, spread for me, allow me to have every inch of your surface, all while screaming my name and shuddering into my heart. That is what I mean."

Riley Johnson is a 32 year old woman from a small Florida town on a weekend trip in the Bahamas for her friend's bachelorette party. While walking back to her room, she meets a mysterious stranger that she's immediately drawn to. He's handsome, he's polite, and he has a barely leashed sexuality that just calls to her starved libido.

But what initially starts out as one night of unimaginable passion, soon begins to develop into something much more when Brett relentlessly pursues Riley.
When I first met her, I should've let her go. Let my heart turn back to black, crush the weakness that had threatened. But I didn't. I allowed the weakness to fester, to rot at the bones of my ribcage, until my chest was cracked wide open and she had crawled inside and feasted on my heart. Inhaled it until there was no longer her and I but only us.

Brett Jacobs is mostly an enigma through the book. The reader is privy to his POVs every now and then, although I never found it to be quite enough to truly form a connection to. I suppose the part where it began to turn for me was their courtship. We went from a case of insta-lust to relationship in almost a blink of an eye. While it does take place over several months, it still felt very quick. Maybe because of the time jumps? For whatever reason I just couldn't connect either of the characters and their motivation. Brett has lost someone years ago that has forever changed his life and purpose. He's not looking for a one night stand, but he wasn't exactly looking to give his heart again either.

I didn't know how to go back. Didn't know how to break off this piece of my soul and give her back. Didn't know how to sift through the lies and tell her the truth. Didn't know how to be the man she deserved without losing sight of my goal.

So I couldn't really connect that with his almost instant draw to Riley and the quick turnaround towards a relationship.

On a side note, there's one thing you can never take away from Alessandra Torre, and it's the woman's ability to write one insanely erotic love scene. The chemistry between Riley and Brett is hot enough to burn the pages.

This would have been a very solid 4 stars for me if not for 2 major things (or at least I found them to be major)

I don't want to give anything away, so I'll be as vague as possible and put any details in spoilers (though I won't give any major spoilers away). This book is meant to be experienced blind, and just because it didn't work for me, doesn't mean most readers won't absolutely love it. I am definitely in the minority with my opinion, so please don't let it sway yours ;)

The plot twist
Here's the thing; I had figured it out almost from the beginning (considering the dates given and the time frames between chapters). I had written it completely off because I thought it was too obvious. Maybe it was my own fault for building up different scenarios in my head that I was left underwhelmed when everything was revealed? It could very well be. But I felt like you have this answer right in front you and it's shrouded in smoke in mirrors, which would usually work for me...yet it didn't here. I was hoping for something mind-blowing, something completely unexpected, and that's not at all what it was (at least not for me)

Riley's actions
The one thing I have adored about Alessandra's writing in the past are her heroines. She writes these amazingly unapologetic strong women that own their sexuality. They may be a little naive, they may be a little vulnerable, but they're different from the mainstream and I loved them for it. Riley was certainly a change of pace from that. At first I found her to be incredibly endearing, but then her actions began to borderline enrage me.

Brett is obviously hiding something from Riley about who he is. This becomes quite obvious from the beginning. My problem was the way that she handled her suspicions. There was a part towards the very end where I wanted to throttle her; her actions were just TSTL.

This had all the elements of a 5 star read for me, unfortunately between Riley's decision, the underwhelming plot twist, and the additional plot twist at the end that just completely came out of left field for me, this book fell short for me. I found large parts of the story to be a little dragging and I just kept waiting for something to happen. Unfortunately I never managed to click with the story or the characters.

I really wanted to love this book, and I'm more than positive that most readers will, so please don't let my rating sway you. Give it a try and see for yourself. It may just blow you away ;)

This certainly will not sway my opinion of the author or skill at all, and she'll continue being an auto-buy author for me. Unfortunately even some of my favorite authors have had a book that didn't work me. So I'll be writing this one off as a case of "it's probably just me".

"Promise?”
“You’ll be mine, forever and ever?”
“Forever and ever."

What a brilliant story, I devoured it! This is the third book from Alessandra and I really was nervous and excited to read it! I have read Still, so I was aware of these two characters and I wanted to learn more about them. This book took me by surprise and made me wonder throughout the chapters what was really happening. And this is because there are some chapters alternate POV that were mixed with Riley's. I will not tell you who it was...But I will tell you that I had several different thoughts in my head of how this book would end.

Riley goes to a bachelorette party in the Bahamas with her friends and meets Brett a dark and mysterious man. Instantly there is a connection between them and soon Brett and Riley spend a night of passion that leads to much more than they bargained for...

description

I loved these characters so much!! They were so mature and they knew what they wanted. Riley is sweet, funny, strong and so real I could definitely connect with her. She was real. Brett in the beginning was a mystery for me... He is sexy, a gentleman and dominant. This is a fast paced story that a reader doesn’t have to read Still before jumping in since that portion of the story is incorporated in this book. I just loved the pace. I really liked Reilly and I loved her home town. I also liked the mystery aspect around Kitten. Did anyone think to mention to the author to use a different sex slave name?

description

In my excitement of seeing what twists the author had up her sleeve I actually read this one in a few hours. Sadly there wasn’t a twist, this wasn’t a mind fuck and the story came across pretty straight forward. I had more fun with my own theories which I thought would have suited the story much better.

Overall, this was an entertaining read that was pretty weak when compared to any of the other sex slave stories I have read. Still, I read on and did enjoy Reilly, her town and those hot cops who should have had more scenes.

4,5 Tight Stars.

I will not be long on this because this is one ot those books that the less you know before jump in, the better.
This is the story of Riley and Brett, they met in party and then beings their path towards love. Brett has a past and he has secrets. Riley is decided to find out what he hides.
But some secrets are safer if they are ever discover. This a story full of secrets, deception, fear, hope and unconditionally love. Grab some popcorn and get yourself ready for a crazy ride.

description

For some reason I always have trouble reviewing Alessandra’s books. Maybe it’s because they’re so mysterious and full of suspense (Yes, this is my nice way of saying mind-f*ckery) and I don’t want to ruin the experience. But in the end of the day, I love her writing and how she always step a little out of the box, so I don’t mind some mind-f*ck.
Unfortunately, the “big twist” in this one wasn’t a big surprise for me, I already suspected what was going on almost from the beginning, but that aspect didn’t ruin the experience for me and despite all the crazy turns and drama, I really love the romance part of this book. Riley and Brett were a couple I loved reading about.
So if you’re in the mood for a book that is romantic, sexy and will make you fear having minor anxiety attacks, this is the perfect choice.

Lately I feel like I'm going against the majority with my take on recent books. I really have loved the books I've read by Alessandra Torre in the past, but for whatever reasons, I just never connected with this story.

I felt there was "insta-love" as Brett was saying "I love you", after a few dates with Riley. The constant switch up from the past, to the present chapters titled "Kitten", and then the Brett POV chapters, left me confused at times. I really think it caused the story not to flow well for me. I just didn't end up feeling anything for either character.

I really hated the scene with the teeth!! I just don't like reading about women being tortured. Although there isn't that much graphic detail, that one scene bothered me.

I was pleased with the ending and this wasn't an awful read, it just didn't grab me like it has with most of my friends. I wouldn't let my review deter you from reading this book because the author is pretty phenomenal and if you scroll through the reviews, this book is getting predominantly four and five star ratings.

I know that I will still continue to read Alessandra's books because she knows how to write incredibly steamy stories!!

What is it about books with warnings?

description

I love them!!! They push us and make us squirm in our seats. Warnings give us a sense of unforeseen danger ahead. And, at the very least, we know something is about to happen.

Early on in the story the reader gets an inclination on the direction this story is headed. But the majority of the book is told from the heroine’s pov and that creates a mistrust in the reader's thought process. The heroine becomes crazy with suspension to the point of making some foolish choices. Her suspensions make the reader doubt themselves…
Maybe I’m wrong and this isn’t going in the direction I originally thought?
✦Maybe the heroine is right to think and feel this way.

Even though, I was right with my initial thought process, I loved how the heroine’s opinions and actions made me skeptical of the situation unfolding across the pages.

I loved, loved, loved the meet cute for this couple. The heroine is at bachelorette party in the Bahamas and is wearing high heels that are killing her feet. As she is hobbling across the casino floor headed back to her room she has to stop and rest her sore feet. The hero sees her from across the casino and comes to her rescue. He offers her slippers to relieve her discomfort. *Awe* A total Cinderella moment.

'The word 'tight' has twenty-two definitions, but my favorite is Webster's fifth - "a bond which cannot be broken."'

* * * * * Spoiler Free- Warning-A Seriously Long 2014 Review
Last year a group of very talented writers decided to do a project together. Each brought an idea to the table and the Bend Anthology was born. Some wrote complete novellas; some introductions to new series and others put their ideas in stand-alone shorts. All of the pieces were compelling, fresh and have led to more from works by the authors.

For Alessandra Torre, her submission was Still.
She had the idea and explained she would be expanding on this first taste of these two characters, Brett and Riley in an upcoming full-length novel. All of what was in Still is in Tight. This was my review for Still and introduces our characters for Tight:

*Due to Still no longer available, I have inserted the review I referenced.
4 Primed and Ready, That Perfect Storm Stars * * * *
What is it about going out of town...escaping from our day-to-day lives...what is it that happens to us causing actions and decisions to be made which in the safety of our circle of existence.. we would never consider doing...

Alessandra Torre's Still, a prelude novella in the anthology Bend, our Riley gets pulled in that vortex. Away from the bland banking position, she is slugging through, she is with her friends in Nassau for a bachelorette party.

For the next 48 hours, she is allowed to drop the persona she has been living... gone nun-like comfortable pumps, hot, spiky, fuck-me stilettos punishing her feet are the standard. Gone are the conservative, drab, claustrophobic collars, the cute mini curvacious dress is the uniform. Yet, with all of these changes in her .... her mind is still holding on to the girl from the South... the one who is always polite, always good.

Practical Riley decides to leave the casino while she still has some feeling in her feet and makes the trek back to her hotel room...the one which is over-the-hill-and-through-glen-to-grandma's far. As she wobbles through the casino and manages to clear gamblers and frustrated drunks, she reaches a bench in the lobby. There she removes the torture-inflicting-shoes and rests for a moment. Checking the damage done to her toes and heels, she wondered what she ever saw in them.

While regrouping and lost in the throbbing of her feet curiously in sync with the distant thumping bass, an illusion materializes... like an oasis in the desert of pain....white, fluffy as a cloud, foam slippers appear at her feet. Riley gazes at them lovingly... thinking she misjudged the level of her pain-inducing stilettos. She must be at the hallucinating stage... they cannot be real.... yet...there attached to this vision is an arm .... attached to another vision.... and his name turns out to be Brett.

Brett, a man cut from the Prince Charming R Us mold: handsome with a dazzling smile...chiseled everywhere it matters...just there, offering salvation and Riley reluctantly accepts. They talk a bit, he offers to escort her to her room, primarily to see to her safety but the current between them is budding and increases with every step.

These two are vibrating like tuning forks reaching for the chord to play. Once reaching the floor of Riley's room, Brett and Riley's inner dialogues have stirred them up to a frenzy, and against the wall, an encounter of passion, lips, and want happens. Both caught up in this current, yet they break away... he, reverts back to the gentleman... she, the polite Southern girl with her in her room...alone.

This is only a taste of what is to come between them...we are led and intrigued to see what our surprisingly closet-rebellious Riley will do. Will she listen to her inner voices telling her that this is an opportunity to fly and actually feel something, something she hasn't had in years. And should she seek Brett out, who is he, and what does he really want with her?

This is such a perfect storm and if it is insta-lust... at least our characters acknowledge this is what it is...or could it be something more...

I read this and as soon as I finished I felt like a cartoon character with grabby hands reaching out, going gimme, gimme... I wanted the book which is to come.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ms. Torre had the essence of something special there...a woman in a place in her life where the possibility...then the "maybe" intrigued her, shook up her world. She put this woman crossing paths with a man who was not looking for a Riley... not open to someone who made him feel and want. That was not his purpose or goal when meeting her that fateful evening.
Yet both of them allowed that singular moment to plant itself deep in their minds, in the place where it can call to us and make us question everything. It trips all the wires in our heads to follow those gut feelings and knows if we don't, we will regret it for the rest of our days.
Ms. Torre takes us on a ride... a ride that activates our senses. We see through all the eyes, their visions... We hear the questions; debates of should I...why am I...and I need it now....from all of them and feel the results of the answers.
We experience sexual encounters which have the Torre brand. These are not gratuitous; they are not thrown in because ... "oh the couple needs to hook up now to add spice". Torre's people once connected thrive in the physical...in the sensual...in the loving and intense. Their actions are organic to the scenes, personalities, and emotions. The dialogue can sneak up on you and lay something profound in just a few words or the musing of what just happened can become a turning point.
We follow blindly not knowing where all of this is leading but we don't care because we know where ever it goes... it will not be a standard issue. It will be cunning with stark visions... easy to understand.. logical in thought... yet with the foundation of...is it? Are things as they seem?
And most importantly, we examine what can make the difference... what can hold us together against all the odds...male, female ... it is all the same... the calling of inner strength to continue and believe.
This book fits very nicely with the past readings of Ms. Torre. If you have loved the style of her previous books then this is right in the pocket for you. If you have never read Ms. Torre before, then you are in for a treat. It will be like a gift within a gift... waiting for you to open all of it.
“2.5 underwhelming stars”
I never thought I would ever see this day, where I didn’t like a book from my favorite author and point out all the mistakes! Writing this review is so heart-rending!!
description
***Before I write down my review, just know that this is my honest opinion and all the reasons why it failed miserably for me. If you’re planning on reading this book please don’t read any further as it may contain spoilers***
The Bad part
This story was mostly focused on the suspense or the disappointing twist rather than the story or character development or the romance. Throughout the book I felt like I was reading somebody's journal because there was no continuity of any scenes but more like rushing of events.The tag line of the title...
“This is not a story about servitude. This is a story about strength.”
I’m sorry but I failed to see both!! Kitten's chapter were so small even the bigger font didn't make it any longer and it failed to evoke any sympathy towards her since everything was ‘said’ but not ‘showed’, same goes for the romance/love between Brett and Riley…in the blink of an eye they have fallen deeply in love with each other and all I got about their relationships was gifts-phone calls-exotic weekend getaway!
One question I've been dying to ask since I finish this book...what was the whole point of this story?????
I guessed the identity of Kitten within one fourth of the story and still I kept playing different scenarios hoping one of them would define the twist. To my utmost disappointment it was none of them but my initial theory plus the final reveal of yet another secret which Brett so adamantly hid from Riley was not jaw dropping either.
So back to my question? What was the point of emphasizing the suspense/secret when all the clues where right there from the beginning which was certainly misleading!!
And this blurb...
The issue is his secret.
The issue is her.
The issue is that I don't even know she exists, and he thinks she's dead.
The issue is that shit is about to hit the fan and I can't hold on to him tight enough.
Those who have read it, please tell me if this makes any sense?? Or is it me!!
The Ugly part
I loved Riley and Brett, I felt their chemistry. .BUT why were they so stupid??!!
I don't know who is the biggest Moron..Brett for dragging the love of his life from the safety of her small town to most dangerous places, or Riley for rather than confronting him!
This is a MAJOR spoiler---->
So this goes without saying that I didn't feel the ending either..
The Good part
Writing: which always makes reading her books enjoyable and had me turning pages faster than my usual pace.
So that's the reason I won’t give up on AT's books yet! Black lies to this day remain the only book which stole my sleep and made me finish it before sunrise!
P.S: Thanks Jasmine for patiently listening to me while I vent my frustration!:D xoxo
"Believe me when I say that hope will only drive you insane."
I'm gonna keep this review simple and short, mainly because I believe this book is one that you should go in blindly and only take the blurb with you. The joy about picking up an AT book is that I know I can go in expecting one thing and be smacked on the face with an entirely different thing in the end. Sadly, this was not the case for me this round.
The reason this read didn't work for me is most likely because I went in with a different set of expectations. I wanted to be blown away or be surprised by the unexpected but I wasn't. The plot twist was something I figured out from the beginning and was hoping to be proved wrong in the end but I wasn't. To add onto that, I couldn't warm up to both MCs for the first half of the book as they seemed to have acted a lot on instalust. I was also a little peeved by the character inconsistency and the escalation of their connection
With that being said, the reasons why this read didn't work for me could very well be why this book will work for many others. So please don't let my mediocre rating be the judge of whether this book is for you or not :) I believe this is one that everyone should take a chance on and you may find yourself loving it. Naturally I'm a picky reader and I'm almost positive that me not loving it is solely a case of personal preference.
If you're a fan of AT's work, you will be in for a treat as Tight is once again a testament of how she can pull off a sensual erotica read that is laced with a good amount of suspense to keep you on your toes. In a true AT fashion, she will leave you surprised with a twist that you may or may not see coming ;)
I love books that completely captivates my imagination, pushes boundaries and doesn’t do the typical romance stuff. TIGHT by Alessandra Torre was one of those books for me. Simply, one word to describe this book is BRILLIANT. There are books that you love and then there are books that you love with a passion that leaves you reeling from a total book hangover and TIGHT was one of those books. This is unlike any story because Ms. Torre has managed to turn a short sexy novella from the BEND Anthology into a full length book that went from sexy romance to an erotic suspense and mind-blowing book. Boundaries are pushed, sex and steam are taken up a notch and lastly readers are taken on suspenseful ride filled with OMG and WTF just happened, That’s right, TIGHT is one of those rare books that kept you glued to your kindle because the story and writing are wickedly brilliant and flawless. It is a book filled with suspense, romance, steam, mystery, and raw characters. TIGHT encompasses a book that takes the meaning of love, strength, hope, devotion, and dedication to another level.
#Tight_2
#Tight_1
If you read the novella, STILL, we were introduced to Brett Jacobs and Riley Johnson who had a hot passionate night in the Bahamas. With that being said, I went into thinking okay TIGHT will pick off right where I last left off in STILL. Well, I was in for a surprise because TIGHT took on a whole new direction and I love Alessandra for it. (*Note: You don’t have to read STILL before TIGHT. *) Ms. Torre allowed her readers to delve deeper into the characters of Riley and Brett. These characters went from two strangers who had hooked up in the Bahamas to two emotional, raw and captivating characters. The chronicling of how Brett and Riley became a couple was beautiful and sexy. The storytelling was so gripping as you watch these two fall madly in love with each other but at the same time Ms. Torre and her brilliant mind inserts chapters that will shock you. These chapters will engage you and have you captivated as to what is to become of Riley and Brett. TIGHT is a book filled with many layers of mystery, suspense, dark topics, and romance. As layers slowly begins to get peeled, secrets, lies, and truths begins to get unraveled. Questions of who really is Brett Jacobs begins to linger? And when the truth is finally exposed, can Riley Johnson accept the truth that been held on so tight?
Alessandra Torre is one of those authors that I love because she simply leaves you hungry for more of her books. She gives her readers a book to experience. A book where it takes you down a raw, dark, sensual suspense filled ride that leaves you breathless and wanting more. With her spellbinding writing and storytelling, this book will leave you sinfully addicted and reeling from a book hangover. TIGHT is a beautiful, unique, erotic suspenseful and raw story that was so well written that you are totally bewitched with the story, writing and characters. Having characters that are so raw, vulnerable and open allows readers to empathize and FEEL every emotions. TIGHT is definitely a page-turner of a book because it will leave you wondering what secrets, lies, and truths are being held on tight. When these secrets are exposed, as a reader I was so hypnotized as to what was transpiring between Riley and Brett. A book that can pull you in, have you on the edge, and leave you happily satisfied is a book that must be read. What can I have say but go read TIGHT. This book was sexy, erotic, suspenseful, mind-blowing, and captivating!!! Another 5+ Star read!!!
Tight was inspired by the novella 'Still' which was featured in the now banned Bend Anthology. Now a full length novel we get to hear the story of Riley & Brett.
_ _ _ _
They both meet one night whilst in a hotel in the Bahamas. Riley is there on a bachelorette weekend with her best friends and not being the partying type, retreats to her room early. Brett notices her discomfort and offers her a pair of slippers. Brett is an intense kind of man, and whilst he is the perfect gentleman, he is also oozing sex appeal that Riley is quite prepared to forgoe her recent spate of celibacy.
Riley is a small town girl, Brett is a rich boat salesman. He begins to woo her with weekend trips to exotic locations and for a time life is perfect. But perfection isn't reality and secrets can't be hidden forever and the story detours down a different path where dark and complex issues arise.
_ _ _ _
Told mainly from Riley's POV, with some sneaky peaks into Brett's mind, we are left wondering how this is all going to pan out and it keeps you guessing from early on. All the way until the end I didn't know for sure where this story was heading, even though I had my suspicions and was proved right. I liked that there was a touch of mystery and I was satisfied with the ending.
This was very different to previous works by this author and I think if you are aware of that then you won't be disappointed. It wasn't as erotic as I was expecting (although, plenty of steamy scenes) but the underlying message was very thought provoking and deep.
This is not a story about servitude.
This is a story about strength.
Anyone who previously read Alessandra Torre novels, is familiar with this reaction:
What the... WHAT?
Her newest release is no different. Tight is a book that will keep you up all night, make you gasp and maybe roll your eyes few times, but in the end you will understand everything.
I will not tell you about premise of Tight. Why? Well, the best way to read novels written by Alessandra Torre is without knowing anything about them previously. Don't even read synopsis. Just pick up the book - it comes out on February 7th - and jump right into this madness.
Keep an open mind. Don't judge characters too soon. And have faith in the author and her wicked ways.
One thing that I like the most about this, but also her other books, is that characters are around thirty years old and they act that way. No "forever sixteen syndrome" here! As someone who will be 30 in less than four days, I could relate with few of dilemmas Riley went trough. Like a need to be a little bit reckless and not responsible all the damn time. To make a change. And slap that judgmental friend all of us have.
The most confusing part of the story were few alternating POV chapters that were mixed with Riley's narration. Several times I thought I knew what would happen. Every single time I was wrong. Alessandra Torre knows how to get your attention. And then crush all your hopes. You curse her and in the next chapter apologize for doubting.
Prepare yourselves for new book boyfriend - Brett is, so far, my favorite. I am not big fan of fictional millionaires, but there is something about this man that just makes you tingle all over.
Final judgment? Tight is a book that all fans suspenseful, way too hot books should read. If you prefer stories that will keep you on your toes until the very end, with just enough darkness in the mix, this is a prefect choice for you.
Alessandra Torre is a go to author for me, I will ALWAYS ALWAYS stop anything to dive into her books, and that is exactly what I did here. This story has a different feel to it and it will push your buttons slightly yet still there will be no doubt where your going as a reader, enjoy it cherish it devour it. This has a good amount of intrigue and suspense and a fair amount of sensuality that had me questioning all the different layers of the story at AT gave us. This is going to be SPOILER free as possible so I'm not going to talk greatly about the plot but more about my thoughts and feelings, sorry in advance if it doesn't make 100% sense.
This is a full length novel based on STILL that was part of the BEND Anthology, you can read my review for that here~https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
It starts off with Brett and Riley bumping into each other when Riley is on a hen weekend and end up on a one night stand where there attraction to each other is instant, Riley hasn't had sex in a long time where she will do anything to be with him for the night and then they part and make their separate ways. But Brett doesn't want to let go of what he wants and goes about getting Riley's attention and does nothing but gently putting himself into Riley's heart where they embark on a sensual relationship.
 photo 8BE4BEA8-D8B6-4E3E-8C06-283B77CDD8B7_zpsffxoxxhx.jpg
Brett has a darker past a past that has hurt and pain and a past that at times swallows him up but he can't let go for what he wants and therefore their relationship forms with weekend breaks to exotic locations and they have a very sensual journey when they are together but then there are secrets that are uncovered and questions come as to who are the people and characters in this book? are they who they say they are?, I found myself questioning and wondering at every turn. INQUISITIVE
 photo 925C9A08-985E-4826-AE51-86ECB1DEB854_zpsxilqqg8u.jpg
I will say that I picked up on the plot pretty quickly and worked out what was happening but that didn't stop the questions arising in my head about whereabouts this was coming from, what I will say is above all ALL of Alessandra's stories have a theme of LOVE in them EVERYTHING comes from LOVE, love can be instant and sometimes slightly unbelievable but here I could see where it was all based from.
 photo 8537A4A4-28D3-4755-AB70-BD0E21BF6552_zpsnjn7roko.jpg
There is a depth of Intrigue and guess work and definitely Suspense in this story as time goes on what do the characters have to do with it all, it was multi layered where you see two sides of the coin.
The Characters
Brett is a multi billionaire that sells boats and earns a lot of money that gives him the lifestyle that he leads, he's a business man first and foremost. He is also dominate, sensual, gritty, strong and SEXY. He cares for Riley no he LOVES Riley but at times he struggles to let go of the past in those moments I did question where Alessandra was taking me but I had all my questions answered and felt a sense of peace in the end. I suppose the sensuality of Bretts demur made it a different kind of feel in that it flowed at ease and enjoyed the feel I was gaining here.
Riley has guts is all I'm going to say, what I LOVE about Alessandra's heroines is that they are tough, strong and have minds of their own never do you question her appeal to Brett and how strong she is to take a chance on a man she met once on a hen do, but she does and in that she has something unique and very special.
This is a very thought out beautiful book about taking chances, giving LOVE a chance and about FREEDOM and STRENGTH.
So like many others, I read Still. The novella that was part of the Bend Anthology (which was subsequently banned). I was so excited that these two characters weren’t just going to end up being a handful of pages, that we’d get full length novel. I was ready for it. I wanted him to take their one night in paradise and sweep her off her feet. I thought I knew this story. I didn’t.
Riley escapes her small town for a girl’s weekend in paradise when she encounters Brett. The stranger that comes to her rescue with a pair of slippers and a kiss that leaves her throbbing. When a second chance meeting brings her face to face with Brett, she isn’t willing to let this second chance slip through her fingers.
Screenshot_12
Brett on the surface appears to be a gentleman. Rich and successful, but beneath the surface is a shattered version of himself. One that was broken when he lost someone he was willing to die for. But when he meets Riley, something awakens in him. The heart he thought was dead begins to slowly beat, bringing with it a second chance. But the past isn’t as buried as he once thought. And his secrets aren’t as deeply hidden has he hoped.
Screenshot_1
There are some authors who can give you a romance that borders along the edges of erotica and then there are some that can walk that edge but infuse suspense and mystery into the story, Alessandra Torre is that kind of author. She hits you when you least expect it. She draws you in with the shiny things and then she clobbers you over your head.
When I opened up Tight to begin this journey I failed to do one little thing. Read the blurb. I like to go in blind most of the time. There are authors that I adore reading where I just have faith in their writing and I don’t need a blurb to grab my interest, it’s just there. But at roughly 25% I had to stop and read the blurb. I was on this steady path and the ground started to shake beneath my feet. I was missing something... some clue. And I was. It was there in the blurb. A hint of the secret.
Screenshot_2
So I picked the book back up, happy with my decision to read the blurb. And then I started to struggle with some of my feelings. I felt guilty. I started hoping for things a sane person doesn’t hope for. This struggle was intense, that moment when you have to decide what kind of a person you are. I might have failed that test. I was greedy. But that guilt ebbed away slowly.
I was just as caught up in the web that Brett had spun. I was happy with my head buried in the sand. I wanted this broken man to find his future with the small town girl. I wanted him to let go of his past and move on. I wanted her to know it all, but I didn’t want her to find anything out. I wanted blissful ignorance. But Riley proved to be far more stubborn than I am.
I loved the way this book made me struggle with myself, that it challenged me. I did not expect this story. I thought I knew what I was getting. I had no idea. I was tossed like a rag doll as Alessandra pulled me through the final chapters of this story. And then BAM it happens. It falls into place and I frantically start flipping pages backwards. For a good ten minutes I stalled. I stared at my Kindle, my jaw slack, wondering what the hell. Where did that come from? How much would a red eye flight cost from California to Florida so I could give Alessandra a piece of my mind. Then I read, re-read and I allowed every bit of it to sink in.
This story was everything that is unexpected. Forget what you think you already know. Strap yourself in for one helluva ride. A fantastically told romance, with a sensual edge and one mind blowing storyline.
5+ "Strength&Hope" Stars!
 photo Tight - Alessandra Torre_zpslfmcmbmm.png
The cover of this book says: "This is not a story about servitude. This is a story about strength." And it is so true. This is not the typical love story. As many of you know, Alessandra Torre is fabulous at that. I was hooked from the first page to the last one: let's see why ;)
Tight is a stand-alone novel about Brett Jacobs (a very-rich, very-hot, very-misterious "boat salesman" who waltzs in the heroine's life and changes everything) and Riley Johnson (a woman adapted to village life and who does not expect what will happen after meeting this gourgous man).
“Fuck,” he swore. “God, I need you underneath me.”
“So take me.”
“You don’t mean that. You’d regret it in the morning. And I don’t do one-night stands.”
“Meaning?”
“Meaning,” he growled, “that if I have you, you will not return to life as you know it. You will not flirt with men around the water cooler at work. You will bend for me, spread for me, allow me to have every inch of your surface, all while screaming my name and shuddering into my heart. That is what I mean.”
Let's just start saying, this was not what I expected, AT ALL. I am saying that in a positive way. At first, it looked like an insta-lust-love story but, of course, it was not. I don't what to spoil any major thing but between this wonderful love story there are many darker layers.
“Do you have hope, Kitten?”
“No.” Yes.
“Is there someone that you envision rescuing you?”
“No.” Brett.
Torre's writing is amazing. Just that: amazing. I could not stop reading. I freaked out when I had to go and I only had 5% of the book to finish because it was so freaking good. I was just like: "NONONONO let me finish!!! This can't be happening.. I want to know!!" LOL My family was like: "WTF is wrong with you, girl?" hahah
However, going back to this book, even tough I got lost sometimes (because of the back and forth), I really really enjoyed this. It was defenitely an emotinal roller coaster for me because I loved the relationship between Brett and Riley (so HOT, so sweet, so everything!!) and I also got so attached to Kitten (you will see, it is heartbreaking and so freaking unexpected). I am sure you all got that from my status updates LOL ;)
I feel like I’ve waited my whole life for you.
I just loved Tight. I cannot say it enough times. I loved it. As I said before, it gets better and better. And I am surprised because this is not the typical book that I enjoy so much. I enjoy darker books (when I am in the mood) but I think now this one is (definitely) one of my favourites. And the ending, OMG, so good. So sad. So beautiful.
The word ‘tight’ has twenty-two definitions, but my favorite is Webster’s fifth - “a bond which cannot be broken.”
Therefore, and obviously, my rating for this has to be my especial 6 STARS. Torre's novel has a little bit (or a lot) of everything, it's daker of course, but still fantastic. Seriously, you have to give this one a try, guys! I hope many of you will enjoy it :) Highly, HIGHLY recommended!
5++++ Fan-fucking-tastic STARS
 photo Tight4_zpsea880828.jpg
Like many, from when I first read Still, I wanted Brett and Riley's story that instant but I waited patiently. I don't say this often but it was well worth the wait.
Alessandra Torre had me from the very first page with her note:
"This book is a bit different than my others. It doesn’t follow quite the same formula. It will take you to some edges, but I don’t push you over. Promise.
My mind was on overdrive. Ms. Torre had me on the edge ALL. THE. TIME. but true to her word, I didn't fall although there were moments...
I was mesmerized by the love story, the secrets, insecurities and the timeline as I tried in vain to put all the pieces of the puzzle together.
I had a million theories, if I had one, about what was going on and how it would unravel but Alessandra Torre didn't disappoint and kept throwing me for a loop. Keeping me on that tight rope of guessing and unravelling the story...
 photo 3-tightrope_zps11966d75.gif
while I lost myself deeper into all that was Brett Jacobs and like Riley, tried to ignore the red flags.
 photo Brett_zps7fc38478.jpg
This was beautifully written and I absolutely loved how the various definitions of 'tight' were interwoven into the very fabric of this tale and into the souls of Brett and Riley. One meaning that I came across after reading this that I found most poignant was: relatively difficult to obtain . Like 'money was tight right now.'
For me, I had this feeling throughout most of the book about Brett. I felt like Riley, I had Brett but not fully. We rarely saw his home turf, and when we did, it raised more questions than answers. We rarely got his POV and these peeks into his heart and mind only gave me the feeling that while he was in reach, he was still out of grasp. I didn't have a tight hold on him.
I found this brilliant and also frustratingly perfect. It truly captured the whole feel and tone of their romance and this story.
 photo Tight3_zpsc1d24dab.jpg
If you want a beautiful and deeply moving love story that will have you playing around with the words, the actions and the light and darkness, you have to read this book! My mind is reeling right now! All that I would expect from Ms. Torre and more. And most important of all, my love and devotion from Brett has grown tenfold!
5+ "tight (tit) closely integrated and bound in love" Stars
 photo Tight16_zpsbw4jfkdw.jpg
I finished Tight and I decided that I needed to write my "spoiler-free review" of this phenomenal book. I will start with my bias statement- Any book that is written by Alessandra Torre is one that will affect me and move be beyond physical reason.
Tight....it's a book of Strength no doubt. It is also a book of Resilience, Love, Fortitude and Hope. It is also a Mind Trip of course, one that has Mystery and takes many Twist and Turns. It's a book that makes you Doubt what you are thinking, makes you reread certain passages to figure out why you have doubts and then it takes you on a Deep and Treacherous Road before you come Full Circle.
 photo Tight 17_zpssfsu2ydn.jpg
Riley Johnson is 32 yrs old and Brett Jacobs is 37 yrs old. They met......and their story begins. It is romantic and perfect. Their sexual chemistry was intense, lustful, deep and all consuming. But perfect doesn't always last. Lies and secrets come to play. You don't need to know more, you just need to trust that their story is one that you do not want to miss.
 photo 849b332524687005b4220772ef7a28a1_zpsskpoceer.jpg
To me, this is a book, like I have said before in reviewing AT's books, is a book that you should jump into knowing not a lot. So why would you do that- Because Alessandra Torre is a Spectacular, Phenomenal, and Incredible Storyteller!!!
Alessandra writes like no other. She pulls emotion out of every word. I went on the journey with Riley. I felt her every fear, desire, hopes, and dreams. I also fell in love with Brett but he has a past that forever changed him. Was it simple and straightforward- HELL NO! Alessandra Torre loves to draw you in, make you think you have it all figured out, and then she throws the wool over your eyes, makes you gasps and go for the bottle of wine.
 photo Tight 15_zpsxeypb0wj.jpg
I was completely spent when I read the last sentence. Every one of my emotions was reeling. This book was incredibly moving and made me feel relief, hopefulness, happiness and love. It is a book that I will most definitely recommend to all my friends.
In the end, it is about two people that come together and defeat their demons. It is about not letting evil ruin your spirit. It is about being strong, resilient, and hopeful in the face of love.
Still was one of my favourite novellas from the Bend Anthology and although you don't have to read it as the first scene is the same, I was thrilled Tight would revisit and expand on the story. Riley is a 32 year financial advisor old from a small town, whilst on a weekend bachelorette party in the Bahamas she meets Brett. Her time spent with Brett is short but the impression is lasting, so when they run into each other the next night bidding each other goodnight is the last thing they want to do.
 photo 9A53942A-315D-46E9-BC53-34C1E5B25358_zpsh6t6g0mw.jpg
I found the relationship between them easy, Brett was adamant from the start that he wanted to pursue the connection they had. Riley's initial reluctance aside, they begin a long distance relationship and with Brett's wealth they are able meet in exotic locations whilst he also attends to business. I enjoyed their heat and the honesty in their coming together, I didn't find it overdone or unrealistic and it has the perfect amount of steam.
 photo 1D1CEC5B-DBFC-4315-AB7B-7B3AD35EF1ED_zpsqhr06b5x.jpg
The regards to my rating, the loss of stars pertain to feeling slightly underwhelmed when it came to the plot twist. I'm not sure it was supposed to that obvious, in which case it almost felt like going through the motions. Nonetheless it was a sweet ending for a more than deserving couple.
Four Suspenseful, Erotic Stars!
 photo 13980308-1505-4B76-9F68-6A8D8DD15232_zpssbut7mh7.jpg
Riley Johnson is a 32-year old girl from small-town USA (Quincy, Georgia) when she meets Brett Jacobs while vacationing in the Bahamas. She's at her friend's bachelorette weekend, wearing stilettos that are KILLING her and just needs to get the things off (been there, felt that). Stumbling through the casino lobby to make the trek back to her room, she stops to rest. Enter Brett...with a pair of cozy slippers. Seriously? Who is this man? He escorts her back to her room...and kisses the life blood out of her.
 photo 32B8737E-C7DC-4453-9059-CF066F325CAD_zpscamfbvge.jpg
Brett Jacobs, a wealthy yacht salesman, is thrown way off his game when he meets Riley. He's not dated in years...his focus has been on other things. Torn between his demons that drive his dealings and his insane lust for Riley, Brett is quickly spun into a web of both need for Riley and redemption for "her."
I should have let her go. Let my heart turn back to black.
Tight is unlike anything Ms Torre has written in the past. Note the disclaimer at the prequel to the book...
This book is different than my others. It doesn't follow quite the same formula. It will take you to some edges, but I don't push you over. Promise.
I only bring this disclaimer to light because I think readers will go into this with certain expectations and I don't want anyone let down. The plot is full of suspense with information trickle fed through excerpts from current day to as far as 2 months prior...taking us gradually to current day where both timelines collide. And when I say they collide, they collide.. If you're expecting mindfuckery the likes of Black Lies, this is not it. Te reader knows how it essentially plays out with the future snippets she feeds you. But you, as a reader, still grasp onto anything to get to that point...to the resolution. And, believe me, you will pray for resolution. So, go in with an open mind, reading only reviews you know are likely spoiler free. Okay, that being said, onto the rest of the review...
Tight delivers a heavy dose of anticipation, of lust, of emotional conflict and most importantly, of hope. Hope for good things to come from the bad...
In true Alessandra Torre style, Tight is chock full of erotic, sensual, steamy awesomeness. Sex against a brick wall, sex in the kitchen, sex on a yacht...you get me?
 photo 447400E8-5D07-416E-AF41-173B44595468_zpsfzfl8jzt.gif
My reasoning for not the full five stars is mostly the early parts of the book. I'm not a huge fan of simple, chaste girls meeting complete strangers and doing a complete 180' to the way they've been the past 32 years of their life. It just screams nope to me...too inconsistent. I understand letting your inner goddess (yes, I went there) free, but I'm a realist, I guess. Luckily, their attachment after the insta-lust grew believably and wasn't insta-love- which I despise even more. The first half just didn't capture me for that reason. It just felt like superficial physical stuff and less plot.
The second half of the book I devoured! Ms. Torre gave us tiny snippets of the otherwise very secretive Brett's POV, enough to make my heart race and anxiously turn the pages for the big reveal. You raise my heart rate like that and you've done your job as an author!
In a nutshell, I'd recommend Tight for lovers of a suspenseful read full of anticipation and eroticism. I'd tag it gray as it does touch on topics such as . Bravo!
An enthralling story of love, loss, and survival.
(Spoiler-Free Review)
I loved him. But I didn’t know him. And I didn’t trust him. The man I had fallen for hid something. I could feel it, slipping into bed with us at night, slithering up my bare legs, looking for a vulnerable place to bite.
I wanted, needed to know that secret.
I was one of the lucky folks who got their hands on a copy of the Bend Anthology before it was banned. Alessandra Torre’s contribution to that collection was called Still, and it introduced audiences to Reilly and Brett in a whirl-wind erotic interlude. It was a glimpse into the moment these two characters met, but it hardly hinted at the dark shadow lurking in the background…
This novel retold/reworked their story from Still and expanded it into something delightfully twisted and oh so entertaining – which is exactly what I’ve come to expect from Torre.
If you’re looking for the signature shocking twist which often punctuates Torre’s novels, you won’t find it here. This was a slow burn – we were led up to the climax with all the edge-of-your-seat anticipation of watching a ticking time-bomb count down. There are two stories being told in this book, and they wrap around each other like a noose.
The reader knows what Riley does not… And her curiosity could, quite literally, kill her.
Riley Johnson
I wanted this man. I knew little-to-nothing about him, but I craved something outside my world. I was sick of pantyhose and mutual funds. Potluck dinners and familial obligations. This weekend was the most alive I’d felt in a decade. Part of it was the location; the majority of it lied atop me. Had moved inside me. Had woken me at 4 AM begging for five minutes inside of me, then blessed my world for twenty.
Riley is a small-town southern girl in her early thirties who was swept off her feet… Literally.
When Brett Jacobs stands in front of her offering fuzzy slippers to soothe her aching feet in the lobby of a Bahamas Casino, Riley was unprepared for the overwhelming attraction and chemistry between them.
She senses her one chance at adventure and decides to seize the moment.
She stands on the precipice of something huge…
And she decides to jump…
Funny how fate smacks you in the face when you’re least expecting it…
Brett Jacobs
“I feel like I’ve waited my whole life for you,” he’d murmured. I’d said nothing, just released a soft sigh and taken his kiss when it’d come.
I feel like I’ve waited my whole life for you.
The best sentence in the world.
Brett is one of those brooding billionaires with designer stubble – you know the type – intense, demanding, sexually gifted… It’s no wonder that he has the power to make Riley throw caution to the wind.
Brett couldn’t help himself. He had no intention of finding romance that weekend in the Bahamas, and even though he should stay away from the blonde beauty, he simply can’t force himself to walk away…
Brett is a man with secrets.
A man with a vendetta.
One he must keep Riley far away from…
Their vacation tryst evolves into something more substantial, spending every weekend jet-setting to exotic locales. Riley begins to fall for Brett, but she’s no closer to unraveling the mystery of this man… Ignorance is not bliss… Ignorance, for Riley, is a poison to this otherwise perfect romance…
While Riley and Brett struggle to build a relationship on a mountain of lies, one woman is struggling to find strength and resolve in the most helpless of situations…
Kitten
“No Kitten,” he whispered. “Believe me when I say that hope will only drive you insane.”
As the romance builds between our main characters, the reader is also learning the story of one woman held prisoner by a sadistic captor. Her chapters are spliced into the story brilliantly, and build the tension in agonizing increments.
She has no idea how long she has been held as his prisoner. He took her freedom, her name, and is slowly stripping her of every ounce of hope. The horrors she has faced will haunt her for a lifetime… Assuming she can ever escape her hell…
The strength of this story is found in the structure and pacing – in the details fed to us piece by piece – each morsel is another piece of the puzzle falling into place, but reader is left starving for more.
I thought I had this one figured out. I thought I had sifted through the clues and discovered the truth behind these stories long before everything fell into place… I’m not too proud to tell you I was wrong…
Alessandra Torre has an unparalleled talent. Her consistent ability to write captivating novels which entertain and surprise even the most jaded readers set her head and shoulders above the pack. She is a stop-drop-and-read author for me, and I’m delighted to say that this book – though a little different from her usual fare – is another triumph. A book which will be treasured both for its content, and for the unforgettable experience of reading it…
Because you don’t merely read her stories…
You experience them…
They stick with you…
They leave you breathless…
I want you to do like me, and go into this book completely blind, try to skip reviews that give away too much away, is best...
I picked up this book only trusting the work of this talented author; she always gives me something good and something different and in the case of Tight I give her props for stepping out of her comfort zone and creating something so unique.
So what I will do with this review is just share a little bit of my experience. First I must say that for a good half of the book, I didn't have a clear idea of what the story was really about and that made me nervous, making it hard for me to connect with the characters. At this point I was almost convince that what I had in my hands was the first Alessandra Torre novel that I wouldn't like, but why couldn't I put it down? why was I so frustrated at work that I couldn't read ? I was constantly wondering about what was happening inside the world of Brett and Riley. I had so many theories, so many plots inside my head, Alessandra Torre's words put me inside a maze, where I doubt I would ever find my way out of. I was so lost.
Then the second half started, and the story became all I thought about, I was desperate for answers and as the complicated situation unfolded I became obsessed and truly desperate. In true Alessandra Torre style, her heroines always come on top and I loved that no matter how horrible, and trust me it was really awful, Riley's situation was, she was never a victim, she found strength in the only thing no one could take from her, her love for Brett. When everything seemed dark and hopeless, she never stop believing in that precious love they share and in the end they way I see it, they both saved each other from the darkness. Now that is over and everything makes sense and I can only say... Brilliant!
full review later but ill just do a quick warning to some of my friends theres zero cheating here the hero loves only the heroin and his love is something unbeleiveble , guys you wont beleive it but here the hero isnt in too one night stands and heroine is the only one he obsseses over it might not feel that way but at the ending its clear shes his only love and he never had anyone after he met her and didnt have many wouman before either.Ok negatives first this book didnt work for me for the whole 100% , i got confused with the time frame and the plot with charecters but in the ending all my predictions were mostly right i also guessed who Kitten was but me getting the plot more clearly was thanks to a few spoilers i read cause at first i was so confused i didnt get what i was reading, now theres nothing new under the sun but i just dont like Pet name Kitten anymore Jie and nd you are great so nothing personal, to much sugar will probebly make a person sick to much of one Petname gets old too,whats more the Kitten chapters made it a bit to simmiler to Captive in the dark for my taste luckily it went in a diferent direction later on, if i read Tears of Tess im shere i would have had more complaints though,also one realy gory scien here reminded me of The Sect and im not a fan of it in either books i know mollars being pulled out by Pliars is good material for a dark read but im not a fan of gore mostly in books. What i like is that AT plot twists though dramatic are not of the ussual soap opera variaty and theres no OTT family drama even though theres still family issues especially in Girl in 6E but more subtle her plot twists are of a diferent variaty. Her heroes are realy sweet too utlest in the two books i read Bretts unconditional love and devotion touwards Riley was admirable thoug as often hapens his keeping silent abought things led to tragick events, Riley was strong but a bit too insecure at times and got herself in to danger her actions as Kitten were realistic no Stockcholm Syndrome here i think Carlos is mentally ill and needs to be locked up in an institution 24 years for human trafficking attemp, kidnapping , rape and torture seems a bit to little of a punishment for such crimes . i liked the HEA ending too and for Rachel theres a baby in the ending like you love
This book was AWESOME and I just loved it :D
It's dark romance but without being to dark or emotionally draining...it's a love story but not the "pink hearts and flowers" kind of love story...it's a mind fuck (at times) and confusing but it didn't let you boil you're neurons for to long...in one word it was...
description
I'm not going to go into the story line because it will only spoil the story for you but what I can say it that it's starts in true Alessandra Torre fashion: light and not hinting to the gut-wrenching sensations that you'll be experiencing and the awesome sex :D
And did I mentions the scorching sex? :P
description
There isn't much more to say except the fact that this is one of the TO READ book of 2015 and a must have in you're Read shelf on Goodreads :D
Well done Ms. Torre! Well done :D
