Did I think I was going to fall for my coach's daughter?

The answer would be no.

I'm still unclear on how I got into this predicament in the first place. A year ago, I was a man with one thought on his mind, the redhead I met at a hotel bar. Twelve months later, I found her.

Unfortunately for me, she not only happens to be my very off-limits coach's daughter, but also . . . my new assistant and roommate.

I don't even need an assistant, but Coach Wood doesn’t take no for an answer. Add in him writing up tasks for his daughter, Wylie, to complete for me? Well, it's his own form of sweet torture. We are talking tasks that I would never ask her to do.

Tasks that make her despise me.

Hate me.

That make her utter four words that cause a shiver to crawl up my spine . . . Posey, this is war.

A coach’s daughter, workplace, forbidden standalone sports romance featuring the hockey men you can’t get enough of. This steamy, roommates-to-lovers romantic comedy will bring all the laughs while burning up the pages at the same time.

When I was in high school I occasionally read books but was consumed by other teenage things so I didn't take the time to appreciate a good book on a cloudy day, wrapped up in a blanket on the couch. It wasn't until I received a Kindle for Christmas one year that my world completely flipped upside down. When looking for books I came across the Contemporary Romance genre and was sold and I haven't turned back since.

You can either find my head buried in my Kindle, listening to inspiring heart ripping music or typing away on the computer twisting and turning the lives of my characters while driving my readers crazy with anticipation.

I currently reside in beautiful Colorado Springs where the sun is always shining and there is a trail waiting to be hiked on every corner. I share a lovely and warm home with the love of my life and my five, four-legged children.

Before reading: Posey 🩵

After: DNF at 40%. I was so excited for this book and either this author is off her game or my taste in books is just changing. I have not enjoyed her last 3 books.. after rating the one before these last 3 5-stars… is it me? Am I the problem?

The humor in this book felt so forced and it was so sexual that it forgot to build on the FMC’s actual personality. It seemed like all she was and wanted to be was a sex object. She was so dull as a character.

Also this kind of ruined Posey for me. I loved him in previous books and the way he was talking to all of his female friends in this was just weird. These are all his best friends’ wives and girlfriends and he is talking to them about his penis and boners when the husbands are not around and through text. I think this author was trying so hard to be funny, but it came off icky instead.

I couldn’t finish this one. It’s just not the love story I wanted or imagined for Posey. It’s more just straight sexual tension and teasing.

Self note:

I skimmed this and at the 68% mark, they went to a sex club that Posey frequents to find someone for him to sleep with (Wylie was initially onboard with this plan, idk why though). But she didn't know that he had already called his regular (OW, "whom he played around with a bit") about his plan. 🙄

The OW flirted with Wylie (she's gender fluid) and she got turned on by the things she was doing to her. When they were about to kiss, Posey pulled off the OW, led her to the backroom, and left Wylie sitting there. But when she realized what was about to happen, she ran after them and BEGGED him not to sleep with the OW. Seriously? Just whyyyy? 😑

Scene:

h: "Please... please don't fxck her."
H: "Why not? (crickets) Wylie, unless you have a reason—"
h: "Because I want you. I want you, Levi, for myself. So please, please don't do anything with her. It will... It will gut me."
H: “I wasn’t going to fxck her”
h: “Then why did you bring her in here?”
H: “Because I wanted you to crack. I wanted you to admit that you want this, that you want me.”

If a guy pulled this sh*t on me, you can bet your ass imma get rid of him ASAP and send him on his merry way. I don't need a manchild who will play mind games with me and disrespect me by flaunting and using OW. I know my worth enough not to compete with anyone just to get a man's attention. And tbh, doing that is just too tacky. 🥱 Thankfully (or not) Wylie's not like me. 🤷‍♀️

Also, this is somewhat a second chance-ish romance; they met a year ago and shared a kiss, but she left right away. She knew him all along (her father is his coach), but he didn't know anything about her. And this was his line when they met again (he also hired a PI):

The girl I’ve been searching high and low for over the better part of a year. The girl who haunts me in my sleep. The girl I think about whenever I consider hooking up with another woman. The one I compare everyone to, who no one ever comes close to matching.

I tried looking for proof if he had been with anyone else since her, but I didn't find any direct confirmation aside from that quote above and his teammates remarks that they haven't seen him with any woman for months. 🤷‍♀️

Good thing she's not a V-card holder and that she has explored her sexuality, but of course, Posey is waaaaay more experienced, and he's not ashamed of admitting he has slept around (definitely proud player here). Also, there's a 10-year age gap; he's 32 and she's 22.

=======================

if i can still remember it correctly, posey is the ultimate wh*re to the nth degree on this team. but let's see and wait for the spoilers. 🫣

I don’t know what went wrong but this book was one of the worst books I have read so far .
I am so immensely disappointed,I swear to God I am about to cry 😭

Posey was nothing like in the other books he had no personality no character whatsoever. Since when is he such a big pushover wtf?????!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wylie girly you were so unlikeable😫😫😫 I am so sorry but was I the only one that felt zero chemistry between the two of them.
I really don’t want to offend anyone but this book was so bad I don’t know what to say .

WHERE WAS THE HUMOR??? Where was the group chat ?????????

I am soooooo unsatisfied this was not what I was hoping for😐 the club scene was one of the worst things my eyes had to witness.🫠🫠
Please ,there was no plot in the book whatsoever, the whole book was solely smut( that wasn’t even good , again I am so sorry)

I love a full-cast narrated audiobook, and So This is War was so much fun to listen to. I’ve been waiting for Levi Posey’s book since I started the series, and it didn’t disappoint. I had a blast listening to this one. Wylie is the coach’s daughter and 100% forbidden, but that doesn’t stop this couple from being together. A great way to end the series!

Meghan is the QUEEN of edging us & this book was no exception. Holy hell was it hot. Posey’s story has been one of my most anticipated reads for a longggg time now and it was everything I was hoping it would be & more.

Posey meets Wiley at the bar one night on a stretch of away games & they really hit it off until Wiley unexpectedly leaves. Fast forward a year, he comes face to face with her again after searching high and low for her ever since she left him alone at that bar. Now there’s one problem… She’s his coach’s VERY off limits daughter.

Wiley & Posey were a match made in bologna heaven. I love how sassy & independent Wiley was, so comfortable in her sexuality & expressing what she wanted. While Posey is of course the playboy of the group, I wasn’t expecting him to be so k!nky!! This book will have you sweating, laughing, crying… all the things!

Thank you to Meghan & her team for the ARC & ALC. The full cast audiobook was phenomenal, per usual!

I was so excited to read Posey's book. But, oh boy, this one didn't quite hit the mark for me.

The story starts off with this whole thing about resisting a crazy strong attraction. Sounds juicy, right? Well, it started off okay, but then it kind of went off the rails.

Wylie spends a lot of time teasing Posey, but I wished there was more to their connection than just that. Posey's fixation on Wylie is pretty one-note too. But that's pretty much all there is to their relationship.

Posey's antics can be hilarious, but at times it felt like the humor was trying too hard. The conversations among the girls felt a bit too focused on sex for my taste, especially since some of them seemed out of character.

2.5 stars - Um okay I was annoyed with them literally until about 90% of the book. I hate when authors try to write overly quirky characters or like a mc that comes on super strong ALL THE TIME like tone it down. Wylie also begging for him at one point literally made me want to roll into an early grave. Also her dad asking constantly “are you fcking my daughter” is SOOOO weird so weird. Actually now that I’m thinking about I’m going to lower my rating lol.

The word “tits” is mentioned 576 times (at least it felt like that to me) other multiple repeated words: “hard” and “d!ck”. I enjoy good spice but this was extremely sexualized to the point of cringing.

The plot becomes more than sex around the 80% mark, Posey was so sweet, understanding and supportive.

The frozen fellas are still as amazing as ever, I did get emotional when they were mentioning all the good things Posey has done for each one of them.
The Girl group was funny, very inappropriate but entertaining. Wiley…. mmm sorry but she is my least favorite of the female group, I just didn’t click with her.

Overall this was ok I guess. This would have been better with less immature behavior.

The heroine: Wylie Wood - she has some extreme daddy issues, because she grew up with a single father who was in love with the sport of hockey. The sport took him away from her for half her life. Now that she is a twenty-one-year-old woman in grad school for business, she is still a bit scared of her dad, and he is still trying to run her life. He wants her to work in the office of the Vancouver Agitators, the team he coaches for, in Business Sales when she graduates, though she is more interested in pursuing graphic arts.

The Hero: Levi Posey - he is a star defenseman for the Vancouver Agitators pro hockey team. He is notorious for getting involved in the love lives of his best friends and teammates. He sees himself as a matchmaker, and thinks he gives the best advice to his friends, though all his friends know that his advice isn’t always politically correct, is somewhat juvenile and not well thought out.

The Story: Posey first meets Wylie in a bar on the night before a game when he was looking to hook up. They flirted for hours, she was planning to go back to his room for the night without telling him her name or her association to his team. Until she sees her dad and runs out on him. A year later, Wylie is back, and she finally tells her dad she isn’t finishing her degree and is going to be a graphic artist. Her dad tells her that since he paid for five years of college that she is throwing away, she owes him one semester of working as a personal assistant for the Agitators while still pursuing graphic arts and she will have to be financially independent from him. He assigns her to be PA for Levi Posey.

Posey gets stuck when Wylie’s father, forces him to take her on as his Assistant. He tells Posey to keep her busy with meaningless tasks and make her life a living hell so that she sees the benefit of going back to finish her business degree. Posey can’t handle being in close quarters with Wylie and doesn’t want to call in the Frozen Fellas, his group of friends on the team for help because he thinks they are idiots when it comes to women. So, instead he calls on their wives and girlfriends for help.

I absolutely loved the last book where Halsey was getting all kinds of romantic help from the Frozen Fellas. They were absolutely hilarious. I thought this book would be even better, and it was funny at times, but I have to say the Queens were not quite as funny as the Frozen Fellas. The Fellas did get a bit more play at the end, but I wanted them throughout the book like the last one.

I am usually not at all fond of the coach's daughter trope. I tend to think that authors should try to be more original. Though I do know it is a popular one in the sports romance genre. I did love this one though, mostly because I loved Wylie. She was a strong character with a sunny personality, who was willing to stand up for herself.

“The girl of my absolute dreams, the one that’s been persistent in my mind for a year. The girl who could do no wrong. SHE LIKES BOLOGNA!”

This audiobook was told in dual points of view via duet narration and was narrated by Emma Wilder, Teddy Hamilton, J.F. Harding, Jason Clarke, Connor Crais, Stella Hunter, Kelsey Navarro-Foster, Erin Mallon, Vanessa Edwin. I don’t have to say much about this. What more could you want but full cast duet narration with some of the best narrators in romance audiobooks? Just that it was awesome!

I can’t believe I’m saying this but I think Levi Posey may be my new favorite 🤭🤭

THIS BOOK WAS ACTUAL PERFECTION. I’ve loved every single book I’ve read so far in this series (I haven’t read the first two yet oops…one day) & I am so so so happy I got the chance to listen to this one because I’m head over heels.

Levi goes out to a bar one night and meets the red headed beauty of his dreams who he has an amazing connection with. But she disappears before he can even get her name. A year later his coach is telling Levi that he needs to hire his daughter as his personal assistant and to make her life a living hell so she will give up her dream of being an artist and finish school…& in walks the redhead who got away. A forbidden romance with the coach’s daughter & they become roomies?! What a freaking combo!!

Levi is perfect. He’s funny, soooo fucking dirty (like kinky kinkyyyy), & will stand up for his girl to anyone that deserves it. I’m in love with him actually.

I love Wylie!! She’s so sex positive, and motivated to do what she loves, even when a lot of roadblocks are in her way. And she’s a dirty little thing as well which makes her the true perfect match for our kinky hockey daddy 😮‍💨💦

I cannot get over how fcking HOT these two were together. I swear it may be one of the hottest books of hers I’ve read YET. And the fact that there’s a hint of slow burn there, literally edging us readers, makes it hit that much harder *whew is it hot in here??*

OMG I went feral over this bologna loving addict. 🤭 I was SHOOK over how FILTHY MOUTHED Posey was. I was not prepared for that but I am certainly not complaining!

The audiobook for this was INCREDIBLE to no surprise because every single one of the audios in this series were PERFECTION.

As always, Meghan Quinn is the queen of spicy & swoony! I loved this book!

I’m so disappointed in this book and how it’s closing a great series. Where were the frozen fellas? The queens were fine but also obnoxious. And completely inappropriate conversations with your man’s friend, yuck. How did posey and Wiley fall in love? Did they even have any chemistry other than sexual? You’re telling me they fell in love because she likes bologna??? That’s not going to cut it. Wiley was such an annoying, obnoxious, immature character. And these age gaps give me the ick. There was no substance to this book other than cringy sex that I had to skim through. And it went way too far with the clubs. It was just wrong. Posey deserved better. The guys deserved better. Thankfully they got to come around for a tiny bit and show up at the end but it was not enough. I’m a little emotional about this, apparently, ha!

“I love bologna sandwiches,” she whispers. “So do I,” I whisper back. “That’s how I know we’re meant to be together.”

I liked Levi & Wylie's story! In the beginning, I loved the playful conversation between them, though I admit that some parts in the middle felt a bit cringey. But I loved Wylie, she was so bold, confident and lively. I admired her will to follow her passion and I also liked the way she made Levi squirm lol! It was so funny seeing him try to resist the attraction between them and his conversations with her dad were hilarious too! I also loved the bonding between the guys and their significant others and the text threads had me laughing so hard! In the end, it was really nice to see Levi being appreciated by the guys for the things he had done for them. That entire chapter was so heartwarming and it proved that Levi was really a good man! The way he supported Wylie was so nice and the ending too was very emotional. Overall, I enjoyed this book but I struggled to keep going in the middle tbh. Still, I loved the part after 70% so this was a 3.75 star read for me at it's best.

Definitely an unpopular opinion but this book was so cringe to me. Him and her both. The premise was ridiculous. It was like a bad porno without the porn. Super slow burn but the build up and angst wasn't even really there. Super disappointed - I was really looking forward to this. Tried really hard and DNF at 73 percent. I just couldn't continue.

Not that anyone is asking but she's pumping out so many books this year and none have landed. They're all first draft.

Oh. Em. Gee! I can NOT get over how freaking fantastic this book is! Posey and Wylie will melt your kindle with how hot they are and their banter will have you smiling throughout. Not to mention the sweet moments between them and the amazing conversations with his friends. Goodness! I wish I could give this book more than five stars!

Posey is so much more than the lovable goofball he portrays. He's loyal, kind, supportive, adventurous, and so sweet. I love how he encourages Wylie to chase her dreams. He makes her feel cherished and loved for who she is.

Wylie has got to be one of my favorite FMCs that Meghan has written! She confident in who she is, hilarious, strong willed, smart, and talented. I love how she matches Posey's energy both in and out of the bedroom.

The way these two mess with one another had me smiling and laughing out loud. I love their instant connection and how strong they feel for each other. Everything about this book was perfection. The texts between Levi and the Queens (IYKYK), the way his friends stick up for him, how he and Wylie get together, everything was amazing. I will definitely be thinking about this book for a long time! I'm so sad to see the end of this series but I look forward to whatever is next!

After and almost was one night stand, Levi Posey couldn't get the girl out of his head, but he was never expecting her to be the coach's daughter or his new assistance he is being forced by his coach to hire. Now Levi is being forced to work with and spend time with Wiley, the almost was girl, but she is strictly off limits. Will these two be able to be near each other without breaking her dad's rules?

I love this whole series, but Posey's story is one of my favorites. He has always been the quirky bologna loving guy and as expected, his story was SO funny. I was laughing out loud while listening to this one. I also neve expected Posey to have a secret kinky side, but man did I love that he does. Meghan really stepped it up with the spice in this one. Its definitely a slow burn but the build up from the "erotic torture" was *chef's kiss* and listening to the audio put the steam and spice on another level. At times I was doing the casual look around to make sure no one else was hearing what I was listening to.

I adored the relationship that Posey and Wiley have. Posey was so incredibly supportive of Wiley and her career goals while her dad was such an ass and trying to smash her dreams. Their individual growth and their growth as a couple was so enjoyable to read. The full cast of characters for the audio majorly enhanced the listening experience. It's one of my top favorite audio books for sure. I highly recommend anything Meghan writes and this one is definitely one of my new top favorites from her impressive list of books.

Unlike all her other books I’ve loved this was disappointing. The beginning and ending were ok but most of the book was nothing but raunchy trashy gross banter. The plot was ridiculous and I had to skim over so much of the disgusting dialogue. I like a good spicy romance novel as much as the next reader but this was missing the attraction and longing that makes for a good story. Hopefully her next book will be as good as Bridesmaid for Hire .

📚 "SO This is War" by Meghan Quinn is a steamy, laugh-out-loud sports romance that you won't be able to put down. From the amazon Meghan Quinn comes a forbidden, workplace, roommates-to-lovers story featuring the irresistible Levi Posey I've come to love.

👨‍👧 Posey, a determined hockey player, never imagined he'd fall for his coach's daughter, Wylie. Their chemistry ignites at a hotel bar, but fate throws a curveball when Wylie vanishes, only to reappear a year later as his new assistant and roommate. Wylie is sassy, independent, and unafraid to express her desires, while Posey is unexpectedly tender beneath his playboy exterior.

💞 The attraction between Posey and Wylie is electric, fraught with forbidden tension and undeniable passion. POSEY POSEY POSEY!!!😍 I did not see this side coming from him but I loved everything about it, from his kinks to his quirks!

The erotic torture (IYKYK) of this book was fire! I also loved how this book was different from all the others when the drama of the relationship occurs and instead of them having a big fight or separating because one can’t handle their emotions they stuck together and found a way to make their relationship work.

I thought books 3 & 4 were going to be hard to beat but 5 blew me away and I am so happy to end this series with him!

Meghan Quinn used to be one of my go to authors but lately her books have been more misses than hits, it's like she's trying too hard to be funny and edgy. There was no substance to Wylie and Levi's characters other than them wanting to sleep together and it wasn't until the last few chapters that any emotions other than lust were brought up. To top it all off I thought Wylie's dad got off way too easily for being a shit dad and coach.

📔 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀: Hockey, enemies-to-lovers, ONS, forbidden, toys as teammates, golden retriever MMC, age gap, no third-act break up.

📖 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: Wylie wants to drop out of college. But her Dad, head coach of the Vancouver Agitators, is determined to teach her a lesson. He forces Posey to take her on as an assistant, assigning her horrible tasks until she gives up and goes to business school. But what Coach doesn’t know is that Posey has been pining for his daughter for the better part of a year.

🌟 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: I have to say, I honestly haven’t laughed this hard in forever. There were a few moments in this book where I legitimately cackled. And then came Meghan Quinn’s patented romance formula - and I was toast.

Posey is such a fun guy. His inner monologue is absolutely hysterical - and I think Wylie was the only woman who could understand him or fall in love with him. I loved that instead of enlisting his fellow players, he went for their wives and started a group text. This series has always been incredible with the supporting side characters.

I’m taking a half point off for one main reason… Meghan Quinn wrote Wylie’s father almost too well. I HATED HIM. I honestly was mad either main character gave him the time of day the way he was acting. And I didn’t feel like his apology at the end was enough. It made me huff a little.

But every thing else was absolute perfection. I’m sad to see this series end - but if I am catching what MQ is putting down, this won’t be our last hockey story from her.

Why do I feel like they don’t even know each other before they’re in love and the book is over 400 pages? I don’t know. It was really weird. Maybe because so much of their relationship from beginning to end was based on sex, seduction, teasing, etc that I felt like it was extremely shallow but I wanted more for Posey. I would’ve loved to see them be more intimate mentally/emotionally and not just physically before declaring they love one another if it’s only going to be after a few weeks.

Not to mention it was incredibly hard to read how brutal her dad was to her. As a parent myself I could never imagine forcing my child to do such things knowing I was causing them unhappiness and pain. While they patched things up, I felt his reasoning was very weak.

There was good things about this book. As we all could’ve guessed, Posey is an amazing book boyfriend. Total golden retriever and once he’s all in for Wylie, he’s all in. There’s no third act break up which was good since they aren’t together until the end of the book. There’s forced proximity, age gap, boss/assistant. The spice carried this book honestly. They had great banter and the sexual tension between the two was insane. I just wanted more than it being about her being a redhead and having an incredible body.

Also, as always, it was a pleasure reading the relationships between the side characters. Easily one of my favorite parts about reading Quinn’s books. I also do appreciate Wylie standing up to her dad and holding boundaries. Wasn’t my favorite by Quinn, but could’ve been worse.
