Fate wouldn’t tie me to these men, would it?

Sent to the ruthless academy for magicals after years hiding from the authorities, I'm behind, poor and, with my pet pig in tow, struggling to fit in.

No surprises I'm picked out for ridicule by the other students - as well as the teachers.

And four men in particular seem determined to make my life here hell.

The man who caught me.

My grumpy, sharp-tongued professor.

The star of the school's dueling team.

And the academy's deadly heart-breaker.

They all find their own special way of torturing me, but I'm determined not to bow.

I hate them.

And yet when I'm with them, I feel like a fish on a hook, tugged in their direction, my insides swirling with a lot more than simply hate.

Is this magic or something far more dangerous?

***A new why choose paranormal romance series with magic, ruthless love interests and fated mates. Fractured Fates is the first book in the Arrow Hart Academy series. This story will not complete in book one and contains some scenes that readers may find challenging.

The author adds nothing new to the Academy/RH genre.

The professor (who is supposed to be 31 years old) acts like a 16 year old. FMC's two other fated mates hate her "just because" and continue to have sex with anything that walks, the "bad boy" who is mysterious and helps her in subtle ways have ALL been written, exactly like this and it's just SO boring.

Mean girl and OW drama, boring.

At 47%, no advancement in the plot, just day to day living from the perspectives of the FMC and MMC. Boring.

FMC has one or maybe two friends, not new and boring.

FMC is "strong" and wanting to escape, yet she yields to everyone at all times and doesn't make any plans to escape and reclaim her life.

Boring. Boring. And everything has been done before.

Author should also learn what comma splices and run on sentences are as they will help her dialogue better.

Happy Release Date to Fractured Fates!!! I really loved this.
_______________
I LOVED this book. This is book 1 in a new paranormal why choose series. This book has:

- Why Choose / Reverse Harem
- Fated Mate Bonds (very slow-burn)
- Bully Romance
- Academy Romance
- Age Gap
- Student/Professor
- Hidden Identity
- Animal Sidekick (a pig named Pip!)
- Bi-sexual MC
- Mind-reading powers

This book is definitely has some pretty heavy bullying throughout this book, so if that's not your jam, then you might not like it. However, I think it's such a good set-up for a lot of groveling in book 2 (I loveeee me some groveling). There are also some other heavy triggers in this, so check your content warnings.

I really like Rhianna. She is a bit naive, which isn't usually my favorite, but it kind of worked for her character's background. There's a lot we still don't know about how she grew up, but I liked that she is so clueless about how the world and school works. I do think she gets pushed around a lot in this book, and I got a little bit tired of her just rolling over. I hope she f*cks shit up in the next book and makes all of these guys regret how they've been treating her. Stone, Tristan, and Spencer certainly deserve it.

The cliffhanger for this book absolutely killed me. I need book 2 ASAP.

This was so good!! Thank you to Hannah Haze for the eARC. I loved it! I already want to re-read some of my favorite parts.

This is more straight down the middle at 2.5 but I rounded up because it kept me interested and turning the pages. However, it left me pissed off on numerous fronts.

First, I’ve only read a few of this authors books and wasn’t impressed. I found that the stories got monotonous in the middle and it just killed almost every single one of them. In fact I had pretty much written her off. This book synopsis did intrigue me though so, what the hell, let’s give it a try.

Overall, it wasn’t a horrible book. The idea is good but I found the characters lacking. The heroine wasn’t necessarily a Mary Sue but for living the life she has she sure did roll over a lot and take the abuse. She just let people abuse her. She had one or two “strong” moments but they didn’t last very long. I wanted her to stand up for herself more. I wanted her to display the fortitude she talked about. Ultimately I just wanted more from her.

Now the guys…the guys were part of the biggest issue. She has 4 mates, however, only two of them recognize the mate signs and are actively trying to undo it. One of them essentially mind rapes her and degrades her repeatedly. The other two are abusive assholes. They didn’t show any redemptive qualities. They bullied and humiliated her repeatedly. One of the guys physically attacked her multiple times but called it “training” - we’re talking throwing her on the ground and tackling her. Plus, she gets nauseous when they are hooking up with other women. She doesn’t understand what’s going on but as the reader we do. They feel drawn to her and can sense power in her but still treat her like shit. Of the four only one showed the ability to be a decent mate and only because he somewhat accepted the mate pull and ended up saving her life in the end - but it came with a price…to her, not him necessarily, but to HER!

My other big issue is that I felt like the author dangled nuggets of info with no payoff. At the end we know absolutely not more information about our heroine that we did in the beginning. Mind raper found out some big secrets but do we get even a hint at what they are? Nope! The only decent on finds a file on what we are led to assume is her mom but do we get a hint at what’s in there? Nope! The other two abusive assholes recognize s long lost power that she may have but is it elaborated on? Nope.
As a reader I don’t appreciate this tactic. Does it keep someone interested and reading? To an extent but overall it just serves to piss people off. There was basically NO payoff in this book. However, it is interesting enough for me to read the next one when it comes out. But there is a caveat…the heroine needs to be a hell of a lot stronger, the Heros need to beg - I’m talking on their knees crawling over glass - for her forgives, she needs to tell them to fck off and actually make them pay for their abhorrent behavior to their MATE, and then she needs to kick some major ass magically. Am I holding my breath? Only partially because I can see the potential but the author hasn’t proven she can pull it off.

I just knew I was going to love this book, and it did NOT disappoint. The fated mates in this book 🤭, it just reaffirmed my love for fated mates especially in RH/why choose books!! I absolutely love all of the characters even though there are three who are complete assholes and two who are straight up bullying her 🫣, but I just know these men will make up for it and I mean, the TENSION??? Like these men HATE that they want her and how she is on their minds 24/7 🤭🤭. Like I’m loving this giddy feeling while reading this book which I haven’t felt in a little bit. But y’all, I could NOT stop reading this book, like at first I only had difficulty in the beginning because I had a headache but once that went away, I seriously could not stop reading. I mean I finished it in a day!! But I will definitely be starting the next book like right away, I need MORE. And y’all, I went into this knowing it’s an incomplete series and the final book is coming out in October, but I am not ready for the cliffhanger that the fourth book will give us and having to wait like 3 months 😩, but I legit couldn’t wait to read this series like it was literally calling out to me. And y’all, this pig better live the entire series or else I’m going to go insane.

So we meet Rhianna, a 20-year old, an unregistered magical (which is a crime in this world), who has a pet pig named Pip, who has been on the run her whole life with her aunt from the authorities and everyone else for reasons we don’t know yet. That is until, Rhianna gets discovered by the authorities enforcer who is named the “man in black” literally the entire book and she feels a tug in her gut to him…but he is there to take her to Arrow Hart Academy, a requirement for magicals to attend until they are 21. We also meet Stone, the hot grumpy professor (who gives Lance Orion vibes for all my ZA girlies, and instead of telling everyone that they aren’t special, but just tells her, iykyk) who assists “the man in black” to escort her to the academy. Then of course, there are two popular guys in school who are best friends but are absolute assholes to her and they are Tristian and Spencer who honestly cannot leave this girl alone but torture her any chance they get. But there’s a certain someone out of that duo, who gives into this thoughts and desires and kisses her 🤭. And there may or may not be one more guy who may be a potential mate that we learn about in the end…But y’all everyone in this damn academy cannot give this girl a break and bully her any chance they get, except her roomie, Winnie—thank goodness—, and is basically her only friend there.

So if you don’t like the bullying trope, even though it’s only 2/4 maybe ⅖ guys, you might not like this, but for everyone else, you NEED to read this. The tropes are magical academy, fated mates, bullying, asshole MMCs, RH/why choose, age gap, and student x professor .

Favorite quotes/scenes:

“What the fuck is that?” (Stone)
“My pig.” (Rhi)
“Why the fuck does she have a pig?” (Stone)
The man in black shrugs.
“Is she mentally unstable?” (Stone)
“Possibly.”

“You going to kiss me back, sweetheart? Kiss me back.” (Literally swooned 😩)

Usually am a big fan of Hannah haze as harmless escapism but this was not it. I also think the bully trope does nothing for me.

Protagonists seem quite bland and the whole pig aspect was a lot for me as a Muslim lmaooo

I hate finished it because I’ve had too many dnfs lately. The writing was terrible, the story not original.

FMC is “not like other girls” 🙄. She is an idiot as well. She refuses to wear her uniform and then is surprised that everyone else is wearing uniforms? When her roommate warned her? Fmc went from a stick figure to curvy in 2 weeks, when the food situation still wasn’t great?

The MMCs are also lumbering idiots. They all stomp around in rages - but they have no reasoning for any of it. If you are showing mmc pov in a bully romance, you have to show their motivation beyond “me mad, girl hot.” None of their actions in this book made any sense to me.

Why is the common room a bedroom? I thought all the rich kids had nice suites? Shouldn’t it be like a rec room? Why would they allow a pig when this girl has a roommate? Why would the powers that be insist she get an education and accommodate her pig request but not give her needed materials for school and tutoring since she’s never been to school in her life.

Some of my questions were answered in this one exchange:

"It's like ... it's like she's torn back a layer of your skin ..."
I shake my head. That's the other thing that reveals itself when he drops the bored act. He has a fucking poetic way with words. It left me captivated as a kid, now it pisses me off.

If this is sarcasm I’m missing just let me know, but if the author thinks this is poetic I now understand why the whole book was so awful.

Wow, I'm just clapping because that was enthralling!

This is a dark academy, bullies/enemies to lovers slow burn but inner hot burn, fated mate. 20 year old, survivor and fight with last breath FMC who has been as good as sheltered as she was hidden away with her aunt. We know little about her, and she's starting to realise there may be more to her. The MMCs are all alpha type blame her for being in their lives and making them feel things type guys...well less the man in black. He seems to just want to find out more and isn't really a bully to her. He is like a quiet protector, actually....

Two 32 year old MMCs, two 20 something year old MMCs, and a potential mid-20s MMC... Although I was muttering, please no, please no, please no to hearing the signs of a connection each time. Because yea...well.... they are all acting like twats, and while it seems to be their default setting for most of them, their extra twaterbarks are aimed and homed especially for Rhee!

The steam is hot, our FMC is a virgin, but we get spicy moments. As well as smutty detail of horny academy going ons.

There is something more still to come, but what a setup world and character building book! The world outside the characters is yet to be fully explained, but we get to know the beings around our FMC and these men, including the psycho killer was scary in the small part we met him.

That ending...that was a bang 😳

Oh, and let's not forget Pip the pig

Pretty Juvenile for a “college”

Ok I’m all for academy and bully romances but the best they can call her is Pig Girl? And bullying her for what? I dislike bullying when there’s no context and so far the context we get is they are all angry about her. They are angry about her ignorance and they are angry around her but no one is explaining ANYTHING to our FMC. She’s been lonely and alone for ages. But they don’t care. They don’t care to get to know her and just pick on her.

I expected better from a college. Like I know there’s still bullying and high school mentality behaviors in adults, but this was too much like high school. Granted they are like 20s but - Pig Girl? Chores? Seeing naked guys? These are all negative things? Idk.

The writing is not bad though and in a style I can read quickly and not trip over. I didn’t find any spelling issues or anything like that. I also know there’s some secrets and things we still need to uncover and I’m kinda on bored to try out book 2.

This was really really good. The plot was plotting and I’m so intrigued that I need to know what will happen next. There is bullying in this which still grates my soul especially cause I seeing the guys treating Rhi the way they do, but can’t wait to see their redemption. There better be some good groveling in the next book.

I have read this authors’ omegaverse books but when I tell you how blown away I was at this book I mean it! Academy/bully romance with some magic thrown into the mix. This is a true bully romance like these guys are MEAN but it just made all the angst and drama that much better.

2⭐️0🌶️

I was expecting so much more.

This book whole trope was pettiness and mean girl drama.

I learned Jack shit not only about Rhi but about her past or why would she be so important when she really doesn’t even know how to take care of herself.

I hated Rhi as the FMC, not only was her ignorance other level but she truly was weak and wasn’t interested in becoming a version of herself that would survive everything she’s clearly going to face at some point.

Not only than but her real inability to do anything in this magical system was infuriating.

Was her whole personality based on her having a pig? Yes it really was, and if that doesn’t tell you that a grain of sand has more personality than her I don’t know what will.

Yes, I was expecting a bully romance but you mean to tell me all of the MMC’s hate her just because, and because she’s their fated mate? Thant not in any way a logical reason.

The four MMC’s were assholes, there’s really no saving grace for any of them, I’m not sure how they’re going to have an acceptable redemption arc after everything, the whole bunch of them knew of the mating bond and they all deliberately ignored it and stumped on it.

Tbh I don’t even like them.

It really is up for debate if I’m going to keep reading this.

Loved this book! It's a paranormal, academy, bully, reverse harem.

Rhianna is an unregistered magic user that is found by the Man in Black (that's his name through the book). He recruits his friend, Stone, to take her back to the Academy. At the Academy, she is bullied by Spencer who is supposed to teach her how to fight and Tristan who is head of the house she resides in. Each one of these characters fight the mate bond in their own way. Through the book, the men are not nice to her, fighting their attraction and pull to her.

They're supposed to keep her safe but an assassin does catch up to her. However, she feels a pull toward him too....The book ends with Rhianna at the hospital after being rescued by Stone & the Man in Black. But in order to save her, the man in black had to feed her his magic...making their bond unbreakable....

So looking forward to the next books. If this is what Hannah Haze has to offer for this genre, I need more!!!

*fated mates (4 possibly 5 mates)
*virgin fmc
*chosen one
*enemies to lovers
*bully
*mean girl
*magic
*ow (two of the men do have sex with her bully)

Nothing special about this book whatsoever. I don't recommend it more than I recommend it. Alas, it's not the worst book I've ever read in my life. 2.5

OW drama all over the place. Some like it, some don't, at this point in life it's not as fun for me anymore but I can handle it.

The writing is fine but it is nothing special, you won't remember it after.

Love interests are the worst I've met. I hate them. I hate them so much I want her to do something bad to them. For the love of me I won't stay here to read them get together. I am over these sort of books and men. It's not hot, it has never been hot. Is that who you want in your life girls? Jerks that couldn't care less about your physical/mental health, who constantly bully you and mix you with dirt while fucking everything that walks (while knowing about you being their 'mate')

Damn. Where is self-respect? Give me some Rhysand or Cardan. This is what I mean when I say I want enemies to lovers. Not whatever this is.

Oh, and there is no plot to be found here.

Why 2 stars? Because the author is a good writer.

However, the characters are horrible. The MFC is ignorant and weak. She showed NO growth at the almost halfway point. The guys are awful just to be awful. They sleep around even knowing they are mated to her. They are deliberately mean knowing they are mated to her. These are not heroic characters.

I'm not a fan of bully storyline because how do you start a romance with someone that treats you like crap?

Not sure how I feel about this. The plot was good but would have loved to have a bit more revealed about Rhi’s background. The guys, well they suck so bad. The way they all have acted towards a fated mate even when it’s been mentioned that it’s rare to receive is just crap. Yes they all have their own demons, all powerful, all misunderstood in their own ways which is why a sort of pack they all would work well together and are perfect for the FMC however their actions suck and I’m not even sure if I would consider them redeemable in any way. Honestly I would ask for a refund. They have all made decisions based on their own wants and needs and never once considered how she would feel. Total lack of care, remorse etc etc honestly they need to grovel and grovel hard and I hope like hell she makes them work for it but honestly I would be happy if she just walked away from them. Let’s see how book 2 goes

Fractured fates right from the start.

What a ride! Rihanna goes from having to run and hide to an Academy setting, not knowing half of what her magic can do or what the pull in her stomach to the different men in her life means.
On top of all the life changes, she remains true to herself no matter how bad the bullying gets. She dishes it right back to Tristan and Spencer, not letting them win. The ones who hurt her the most are Stone and The man in Black, who she finally learns his name in the end.
I love that she's not willing to bow to the popular people and clings to who she is, while trying to figure out the mystery behind her true identity.
It ends on a cliffhanger, and I'm looking forward to diving into the next book.

This one’s complicated. As an academy book, there’s a lot that works. The fact that many of the characters are 20 years old makes it less believable. The bullying in a contained environment, sure. By 20 year olds, ummm maybe less her pet pig and more about something else.
The two older men involved was less palatable because of the setting. Age gap is not an issue for me but when there’s a power imbalance, there’s some ick.
I liked the friendship of Rhino and her roommate.
I enjoyed the book but could have done without the two spoiled assholes. They really didn’t add anything to the story.

This book was a wild ride! I want to know more of their backstories. I have so many questions about them and her. Why does she have Deja vu on campus and why are her memories blocked? Why were her and her aunt hunted? Does the council know who and what she is? Is the assassin her mate too? Was he the one in the forest? What a way to end the first book! Honestly Andrew was acting sketchy but I wasn’t expecting that!
