Writing is a form of art. And we do not all share the same interests and opinions. But the authors work hard to create something that is worthy of your time.
This story, EXcapades, is special to me because it is about a woman striving to remain strong even in the face of adversity. She seeks comfort in the arms of her handsome first love. At the same time, he reminds her how to have fun again. But the true spirit of the story is her desire to stay upbeat and enjoy life. No matter what comes her way . . .
As a single parent and mother of a special needs child, I know all about struggling. But I challenge myself each day to stay positive and celebrate life. And most of all have fun!

I read EXcapades from my kindle. I loved the story and would recommend it. The sexual tension between the couple was hot. The romance scenes were hotter than Fifty Shades of Gray. The story was thought provoking. I liked the humor in the book.I couldn't put it down until I was finished. It is a must read especially for any one dealing with challenges in their life. The main character's ability to stay positive was inspiring.

DON'T LET THE COVER, DETAILS OR TITLE FOOL YOU, BECAUSE IT IS VERY MISLEADING. HOT LOOKING GUY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE REAL STORY INSIDE. YES, IT HAS VERY SEXY SEX SCENES BUT I FOUND THE STORYLINE AS A WHOLE VERY DEPRESSING, IT DIDN'T RAISE MY SPIRTS AT ALL. EVEN THOUGH I THINK THAT WAS THE WRITERS INTENT BUT NOT FOR ME. I DID NOT LIKE THE MAIN CHARACTER AT ALL SHE SEEMED A VERY FOOLISH WOMAN, I JUST COULD'NT FEEL COMPASSION FOR HER. I ADMIT I THOUGHT THE BOOK WOULD NEVER END I STARTED SKIP SCANNING OVER SOME PAGES. I KNOW THIS WAS SUPPOSE TO BE A LOVE STORY(TEAR JERKER KIND) AND IT WAS, JUST NOT MY KIND OF LOVE STORY. WAAAAY TO DEPRESSING, DON'T LIKE TO PAY TO FEEL THAT, FOR MOST OF US DAY TO DAY LIFE CAN DO THAT FOR YA FREE.

**I HAVE CHANGED MY RATING OF ONE STAR TO 3 STARS BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO BE MISLEADING, I JUST DID NOT LIKE THE SUBJECT MATTER, THAT IS THE ONLY REASON I GAVE IT ONE STAR TO BEGIN WITH. THE BOOK IS WELL WRITTEN, JUST NOT FOR ME.

The story "inside" was unexpected based on the cover (which is hot!) and the title. While I did find several sensual and well described sexy scenes the book was so much more.

Lila is a 41 year old woman who repeatedly prefers to live her life without confrontation. The story begins when her husband of nearly 20 years leaves her to start a new life with their 18 yr old daughter's former babysitter. Later in the book signs of his coming abandonment are revealed but Lila had ignored what was (and wasn't) happening and didn't see it coming. She was devastated while choosing to put up a front for her friends and family rather than allow them to perceive her emotions which she saw as weakness.

Then after a year, she runs into her first love back in college and they rekindle their relationship. I love second chance stories and Ms. Kay does a tremendous job of describing Blake's love for Lila when they were young. You really feel how confused and hurt he was when she broke off their relationship and how he never really got over her and never stopped loving her. He is a very verbal man and has no problem telling Lila how much he feels for her and how she affects him. He offers up a multitude of swoon-worthy lines we all wish our man would say to us. As they pursue their renewed feelings they eventually have "the talk". Blake wants to know why after two blissful years she broke it off without explanation and in. a. letter! Lila's friends had told her they had heard rumors he had been with other girls when he was at a different college than her so she broke up with him in. a. letter! She didn't try to confirm the rumors or tell him why it was over between them. It was easier for her to walk away than give him a chance to deny or explain.

Also Lila has seen a doctor, who ordered some tests ran, but she avoids going back for the follow up visit. Her daughter finally takes the matter in hand and takes her to get the test results. The news is not good and once again Lila puts on the strong, resilient, independent woman face she wants everyone to see and hides how scared and how sick she really is. Fortunately it all works out because Blake finds her and intervenes before its too late. She gets the care she needs but didn't want to face.

As I said, this is a story about second chances. Lila gets a second chance at love and at life. She was a frustrating character for me. I often wanted to shake her for her reactions, behavior and choices, and because of this I didn't feel any sympathy for her. I couldn't connect with her. But I was grateful to see that in the end she recognized how in order to avoid being vulnerable and the pain of being hurt she had never really trusted anyone when she needed help. She seemed to realize all her fears and pride had almost cost her and was ready to truly allow others in.

*I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

EXcapades by Debra Kay is an erotic romance centering on the evolvement of the abandoned wife, Lila. It opens with Lila and her husband dropping off their only child at college. Lila is looking forward to a little more freedom and fun activities as her mother role decreases, but her husband has other ideas. He leaves her in the first few pages, admitting he was tired of her and has impregnated the former babysitter.

Lila finds herself in a tailspin because she never saw it coming. She wrestles with anger feeling as if she gave up her dreams to support her husband with this as her reward. As with many women, the anger turns inward and she becomes depressed stumbling her way through the divorce. The one shaft of light in the brown fog of depression is the memory of her ex, Blake, and the wild sexual adventures they once had. She was fearless then, not a beaten down shell of her former self.

Not surprisingly, Blake and Lila do bump into each other and find the spark still exists, but medical issues and family obligations rear their heads disturbing what should be an easy second chance at love. Ask any divorced middle-aged woman, she’ll concur that love is never easy after an emotional devastation of a divorce, but it is infinitely sweeter.

The chemistry and romantic dance between Lila and Blake is delightful. There’s a natural growth of Lila from dutiful wife and mother to free-spited woman. Jane is a great secondary character as the friend, who for some reason, I kept picturing the actress from the Shirley Valentine playing the part. The cover may mislead you into thinking this is a tale of loosely patched together sexual exploits. It is not. It’s a tale of growth, self-discovery, hope and love.

EXcapades is for the romance reader who enjoys tales on the sensual side. It is also a book for women and men who want to believe in second chances and adventure. Two thumbs up to Debra Kay who not only went with an older woman as a protagonist, but also included all the troubling details of being that woman.

This story was an emotional roller coaster....in a GOOD way!!

I am also giving a suspense classification for this book. I have to tell you, I was on the edge of my seat for most of it. When it begins she "knows something’s wrong" but refuses to call the doctor’s office back. This sort of hangs over you for the majority of the book. And even once she finds out there is so much suspense in what will she do? Will she or won't she tell him? A lot of mysteries don't keep me in suspense that well!!
I am also going to break it to you as gently as I can..................you WILL cry! I don't think it's possible not to! This is the type of story that reaches in and grabs a hold of all of your emotions and doesn't let go!! I honestly had a horrible time putting it down once I picked it up. This is such a fun book with a pretty serious undertone. It is definitely one you don't want to miss!!

The cover of this book totally fooled me, I know we aren't supposed to judge a book by the cover but I did. I didn't thought I was going to like it this much, I thought it was just another romance story but it was more than that. I love the characters, specially Lila, I think she is a very strong woman. This is a book well written and I really enjoy it a lot. I would definitely read more books from this author.

Interesting story about rekindling with a lost love and dealing with physical hardships. I enjoyed the intimacy and the range of emotion in the characters, however the strong and almost gushing emotions seemed a tad hurried. The ending being built up to seemed a bit rushed as well. Overall, I did enjoy the book however I just could not connect to the characters.

I cried so much while reading book, it was short but really good. I had watched a cancer research video the day before so it felt very real to me.
