I have enjoyed several of this author's adult books and I have watched many episodes of his T.V shows so I thought I should read a book from his famous Alex Rider series.

Alex, the main character in these books, is fourteen years old in book 4. He is also loosely involved as an MI6 operative and despite his youth has been trained as such. As an adult your first thought has to be "Oh really!" but for the age group this is written for it must be really exciting.

Of course, the author being Horowitz, it is nicely written, well paced and action packed. Alex is snarky and smart and manages to survive the worst situations with aplomb. I can see why the series is so successful - I would have been waiting anxiously for each one to be published when I was that age.

Alex Rider isn't just any fourteen-year-old. He's mentally quick, knows self defense and adheres to a strong code of justice. Give him some gadgets and he'd make the perfect spy. After all, who would suspect a kid? And that's why MI6 wants him so badly!

The series isn't just made up of individual adventure stories of espionage. The titles start becoming linked a little further into the series. It seems like Alex has a history. And because of it, his future with MI6 seems shaky and will leave the readers guessing.

I enjoyed these!

Ages: 12+

Cleanliness: A typical “good guy vs bad guy” story so morals are straight forward. There are some mild obscenities sprinkled throughout, most of which are used by the villains. If you’re from the UK or Down Under, the b-word is used once or twice in each book, so be aware of that. There’s no romantic relationships (a short one only in book four) and while there is violence (these are spy books after all) it is not too graphic or disturbing - similar to most Marvel movies. If this was a movie, it would probably be rated PG for action sequences and a little language.

Specifically in this title it mentions in one sentence that maybe a bad guy's motivation is porn. There is a non-descript romantic relationship - Alex has a girlfriend. The only off-hand sentence is when she walks into his bedroom one night, kisses him (not described) and leaves.

It was the garden of a man who wanted to rule the world but couldn’t, and so had cut the world down to his own size.

I was not expecting the huge twist in this book and this has opened up a whole new range of ideas that i have in my head and i can't wait to see were this story goes.

Plot: As i said i did not expect the huge twist that has come out of this book and Alex learning about what his uncle really was to me was a huge shock. This story was full of twist and turns but one thing that i loved is that the fourth book went back to the basics of the first book in the series and i feel like i started to enjoy the series again. The third book was a little bit of a let down and i feel like that that book felt different then the other books but the fourth book redeemed itself.

Alex's life has changed now that he has learnt the truth about his uncle and MI6 and i cannot wait to see how it plays out in the fifth book.

Unlike the other books in the series, MI6 does not believe Alex and his story about Damian Cray so Alex decides to take on a mission alone and not on MI6's orders. In true Alex rider fashion his instincts turn out to be correct and he takes down Damian Cray and stop his crazy plan for world domination like many of the previous Villains in this series.

Eagle strike brings back the original origins of this series and i hope the fifth book continues to have a strong plot and character development. I'm still holding out for Alex to have some friends to join him when he goes on missions because that would be an interesting dynamic.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a teen spy for a secret government agency? If you have, then this is the book for you. Alex Rider is a teen spy for MI6, British intelligence. Eagle Strike is the fourth addition to the Alex rider Adventures by Anthony Horowitz.

In Eagle Strike, Alex Rider gets acquainted with Damian Cray. He is bent on making the world a better place by destroying a large amount of countries. The history behind Alex is phenomenal. His uncle, an agent for MI6 and Alex's last family member, is killed on a mission for MI6 and Alex is recruited. The climax is intense and full of action. Anthony
Horowitz has created a great plot once again.
Damian Cray is focused on greed and power, but Alex is focused on stopping Damian Cray from ruining the world.

No matter what your size, you can accomplish great things! The reason for this is that it is about a teen that is trying to save the world.

In this book Anthony Horowitz creates a world of suspense and action. The main character gets stuck in many traps, including being caught in a human video game.

This is a must-read for young adults, but I recommend reading the others in the series first.

"None of my business. That was what Alex had thought. This was the result."

Alex Rider back again, this time without the support of MI6 behind him to prove what everybody knows to be true : that Popstars are secretly dangerous psychopaths bent on ruling the world.

I will say this book was a game changer for me in middle school. What was originally just about a normal boy thrust into the world of spies and danger, became so much more intimate and serious. God, I still remember the rush I got when I read this for the first time! And still does to some extent lol.

Now on the Book 5!

Alex Rider, vacationing in the south of France with his girlfriend and her family, is finally enjoying a fully relaxing couple of weeks. But when his girlfriend’s father becomes the target of a Russian assassin who also happens to be a nemesis from Alex’s own past, Alex is dragged back into extreme danger.

The fourth book in this “YA James Bond-style” series was a bit different from the first three in that Alex isn’t given an assignment by MI-6 but rather stumbles upon one. Even when he wants to get MI-6 involved, they don’t believe him. This time around the evil madman is an eccentric billionaire named Damian Cray who was born to wealth, became a world-renowned pop star and philanthropist known for huge acts of charity.

Once again the writing is fast-paced and the plot thrilling and the stakes couldn’t be higher (up to and including preventing 25 nuclear explosions around the world). But this time around, the personal stakes for Alex are tougher than ever. When a teenager is not believed, either by those in authority or by his best friends, it can seem worse than nuclear war. The book’s ending ramps it all up one more notch when Alex discovers another truth about his own family which will change his life forever.

My favorite Alex Rider novel so far. I’m interested to see where this new information will take Alex in the next book and whether he will be able to trust anybody ever again.

I think each book in this series gets better and better. Eagle Strike continues the fast paced action. I found the book got a bit slow in the middle, but it certainly finishes with a bang. Off to get Scorpia now!

*4.5 stars I think. This series is so much fun, albeit preposterous and predictable at times, but perfectly pitched for its target audience, with fast-paced action and likeable protagonist. I like that in this one Alex is less alone, and I pretty much enjoyed all the characters. It’s bingeable escapism….

I kind of think this is my favorite Alex Rider book so far. I did enjoy Point Blanc but this book is kinda a masterpiece. Here are a few reasons why:

1. Alex on his own So I actually loved the different vibe of Alex working without MI6. It felt a bit reminiscent of The Hardy Boys or something. The sleuthing and getting into danger vibes (like legit every other Alex Rider book lol) were immaculate. I mean, it also helped that Alex actually believed and kinda enjoyed what he was doing as well.

2. More Jack Starbright Jack is a literal queen. I love her so much. She’s so funny and is pretty much the only person who actually cares about Alex’s welfare, which is super sad. Her inclusion was awesome and I hope this means we’ll see more of her in later books.

3.

4. How this changed the direction of the series I kind of feel like the previous point changes the direction of the series and I’m so excited to see how this all plays out. I am also looking forward to seeing Alex process all this, though that can get a bit sad sometimes.

Anyway, this is by no means an exhaustive list and I am looking forward to the continuation of the series.

Eagle Strike
By Anthony Horowitz

1. I decided to read the book Eagle Strike because I have read all the previous books in the series and they were quite interesting.

2. An interesting character in the story is Damian Cray. He is a very famous pop singer who is a very influential person to the world, as he has met people like the queen and the president of the USA. He seems to be a very likeable character, that is until the story progresses. He is interesting because he is different to your average villain. Most villains just want world domination and power, but Damian Cray is causing chaos to help others.

3. A quote that I found interesting was "Come join me for some tea so we can discuss how you're going to die." I found this quote interesting because it was quite funny how calm Damian Cray was only a few hours before he was going to blow up and kill millions of people. This quote brings out Damian Cray's personality, and really shows that he is different to most villains.

4. Eagle Strike made me think about pop stars in the world today, and if there were any people in the world like Damian Cray. It is scary to think about what global catastrophes could take place if these type of people got hold of nuclear weaponry. Another scary thing is that if there are famous people in the world that have the same mindset as Damian Cray, we wouldn't be able to tell, which could potentially lead to disaster.

Eagle Strike is about a fourteen year old boy, Alex, who is horrified when he sees a known assassin near Alex's vacation resort. It turns out that the assassin's target was Alex's girlfriend's father. Alex investigates and unearths a plot of mass destruction by Sir Damian Cray, a famous singer and philanthropist bent on improving the world by bombing countries and locations where drugs originate. At first, I was pulled into the plot and quite enjoyed how Alex foils Cray's attempts to contain Alex. But as I got toward the end, I was disappointed with how unbelievable the plot twists happened. Alex had shown considerable intelligence in escaping from Cray once, but even so, upon Alex's recapture Cray insists that he tell Alex everything that he's doing, and how he's going to do it, then takes Alex with him WHILE he does it. ??? Sorry, it would have been a 4 1/2 out of five, except for the disappointing end.

I feel like they just keep on getting better further down in the series. This one ended on a sharp cliffhanger and made me feel a bit sad, Alex is losing everything, and it feels like you are too when you read it.
Gosh, why did I feel sad for the villain? I mean he is a murderer and a awful person but Damian is just straight up annoying. Come on dude, you can do better than that. Also, what is wrong with your father being a contract killer?! Seriously, in that world, it honestly doesn't seem that made compared to Damian. Him in this book is exactly like the one in real life that it is almost scary. I couldn't find a Jessica in the book though 😿
Top tip for MI4: Maybe actually be nice to your agents so they don't leave you. CHERUB is your inspiration for now.

Niat murni Cray tidaklah menghalalkan perbuatannya. Namun, itulah yang sering terjadi di dunia nyata. Niat tidak seiring dengan perbuatan. Apatah lagi jika memberi impak yang buruk kepada orang lain.

***Minor spoilers***

After everything that has happened with MI6, Alex is ready for a relaxing vacation with his friend, Sabina Pleasure, and her parents. Alex's relaxation time doesn't last long, however - when he's on the beach, he spots Yassen Gregorovich, Russian contract killer, coming in on his boat. Unable to resist, Alex follows him and learns that he is here on a mission to kill someone. Alex doesn't have to wonder very long about who it is, because before long, the vacation home where Alex and the Pleasure family were staying was blown up, but thankfully nobody was killed. But Alex has reason to believe that the man behind it was Damian Cray, a famous pop star who nobody would ever believe could harm a fly. Without MI6 having his back, Alex struggles to uncover the truth, but this time he's all alone.

For around 200 pages of this book I was going to rate this lower, but the last chunk of the book improved it a lot for me. This book starts off, like the rest of the series, with a scene that doesn't make much sense at first but gets explained later. This time, there are two men in a jungle who are looking to assassinate a man. For a lot of the book I was trying to guess who the men were, and I was surprised to learn that Learning that fact made the book so much better for me and has me wanting to buy the next book when I get the chance to. In the previous books it felt like they could have been standalone novels, but in this one we get a piece of information that leads to the plot of another book.

I actually liked the antagonist in this book, Damian Cray. He's one of those villains who makes sacrifices (usually in the form of people) for the "greater good." When someone opposes him, he makes sure there is an "accident" to ensure they can never bother him again. Yassen actually appears good next to him! I enjoyed the way the video game system was a part of the book, and at one point in the book Alex is in a real version of a video game with real weapons and enemies, which was one of my favourite parts of the book. While there was some action throughout the book, all the action in the last 100 pages or so was the best of it, in my opinion. However, as per usual, there are a lot of scenes where it is pretty unbelievable that Alex pulled that off, and had me thinking that whoever he was tricking had to be pretty stupid and/or oblivious to miss it.

Overall, I thought this book was pretty good, and the last part of it definitely brought my enjoyment level higher. It felt a bit boring for a while, but it's worth it in the end. We learn an important piece of information in this novel which will no doubt be the basis for whatever happens in book five. If you haven't read this series yet and you're looking for a quick read, you should check it out.

Eagle Strike by Anthony Horowitz has the basic problem solution plot structure, while being dreadfully slow. This book was meant to be an action story; however, it practically put me to sleep. In this book, Alex Rider is a 14-year-old spy! That’s about as unrealistic as it gets, even for a realistic fiction novel. This novel contains explosives, high speed chases, gun fights, assassinations, murders, real life video games, plane crashes and hostage situations, while all being completely predictable and boring. As unrealistic as it is, I could predict everything that happened through the voiceless text. Alex escapes death a multitude of times; where as any other adult would have died several times if they were his situations. Alex saves his best friend, Sabina Pleasant, from a psychopathic serial killer on a mission to launch nuclear missiles to 26 parts of the world; to re-birth the world and give everybody a chance to start over, what’s left of them. He does all of this completely solo without any special gadgets from his employers, MI6, and without the help of any adults except his babysitter! The psychopath is a pop star! One of the most famous pop stars, Damian Cray, is planning a world catastrophe, and is stopped by no other than Alex Rider, who has survived his sadistic real life video game, has escaped over 50 guards and a top security system, broke out of Cray’s prison more than once, and manages to crash and airplane and kill more than three of the craziest people on Earth, one of them being Damian Cray, and one of them being a contract killer.
In this book, Anthony Horowitz makes Alex cocky and sarcastic in the face of danger, to a point that Alex has almost no emotions and practically says everything he is thinking leaving nothing for the reader to figure out themselves. He portrays Damian Cray as a complete and total madman who is good with public speeches but probably dreams of horrific events of like 9/11 and kicks puppies as a hobby. He has no self-control and will kill anyone in his way, however he never seems to kill Alex, no matter how many chances he gets, which also seems unrealistic about the story. Also, Damian Cray explains everything he is planning through dialogue, as if he wants Alex to stop him. Horowitz somehow managed to include some good word choices, while making the text and dialogue so boring that I almost couldn’t read it. He did a much better job in his previous books. Frankly the only character I liked was Cray because he tried to kill Alex, even that would have been a better ending than having Alex crash Air Force One, kill his to captives and save his girlfriend. Overall, I do not recommend this book unless you are trying to fall asleep.

Eagle Strike by Anthony Horowitz is about a fourteen year old boy named Alex Rider who works for MI6, which is like the CIA. He has to stop a crazy man named Damian Cray from destroying almost half the planet with missiles. But this time Alex doesn’t have the help from MI6 because they think Damian Cray is innocent because he is a very successful pop star and he gives tons of money to charities. Alex undergoes a lot of danger and has a close to death experience. Will Alex persuade MI6 that Cray is bad? Will he destroy Cray before it’s too late? Or will Alex die trying to stop Damian? Read this action packed novel to find out. The conflict is external because all the action is fighting.
The book is well written, but I think there should be more description of the characters. I chose this book because I have read some of the other Alex Rider adventures and liked them a lot. I liked Eagle Strike because Alex always gets in tight positions, but he always finds some way out with gadgets or his quick thinking. For example Alex has a bicycle that is equipped with all sorts of functions like smoke and little missiles, this bicycle saves his life a couple of times.
I compare Alex Rider to Dill in the book To Kill A Mockingbird. They both are adventurous and very smart. Alex and I kind of relate because we both are fourteen years old. I strongly urge people who like adventure books to read this book. I’ve read a lot of books and the Alex Rider series has been my favorite.

Having read 4 of the books in the Alex Rider series, Eagle Strike has to be one of my favorites. Alex Rider, a 14 year old spy, believes that Damian Cray, the world's most famous pop singer who is always donating to charity and wants world peace, is up to something no good. After Yassen Gregorovich, the assasin who killed his dad when mentions Cray's name in a phone call Alex becomes suspicious. He goes to the MI6 but they don't believe that a person like Cray would be attempting something bad. Alex then goes on a crazy journey to get himself "noticed" by Cray to be able to investigate more. Throughout the whole time, he is on his own. He does have some useful gadgets to back him up, but the MI6 is not on his side. If something goes wrong, the MI6 will have no chance of helping him out. This is why this book might be my favorite. In the other 4 books, Alex always has so much support from the MI6, it was a challenge knowing that no one will be there if you screw up. But of course, Alex seems like he never needs any help from anyone

My son and I really like this series. They are captivating, just a little cheesy, and filled with enough action to keep a teenage boy's attention. This, the fourth in the series, did not disappoint.

Alex stops a ploy by a Bond-worthy sociopathic villain and learns more about the father he never knew.

Horowitz is one of my favorite authors and I love that he wrote this YA series so I can share it with my son. We listened to the audiobook and it was very well narrated as well.

Love this series! Lot's of action, gadgets and eccentric rich dudes who want to explode things. Alex is a kid of few words, but I think his deadpan one liners are so perfect. This is a definite turning point in the series and I am so looking forward to the rest.
